I grew up with a Webers nearby in Stratford. They then closed and opened a few years later with new owners and things just aren't quite the same. The Webers in Pennsauken is still owned by the same family that used to own the Stratford location, which means they use the same food as the Stratford one used to. We ordered our go to items: I got 2 cheeseburgers with onion, cheese fries and of course the root beer. They don't use the old style thick glass mugs anymore; your root beer will come in a plastic cup which isn't a deal breaker. When the food came out I was reminded of the webers food I grew up on afte taking one bite...it was so delicious. Burgers cooked perfectly, fries were crispy, and the car service was fantastic. Their schtick is that you roll your windows down and they'll plop down a little "shelf" that holds napkins and condiments. They have a very limited menu - fair play to them, they keep it simple. I used to go Weber's (though not often) as a kid many years ago, and it is fun to revisit it. The menu is a little different from the Stratford location (no tuna sandwich there). It's reasonably priced. I like that the portions are also reasonable, but if you equate quantity with value you might be disappointed. Burgers are an old-fashioned size--no monster burger here--but taste pretty good. Shakes are good too. And how fun is it to have a carhop? My husband did not grow up here, and he loves the novelty of it and the throwback look. We like to hit up one of the Weber's when we are in South Jersey on errands. read more

We found this spot by accident while driving back to New York from Philly on the night of the Fourth of July. Wow! What an incredible place to eat. We've been going to Weber's Drive In for many years. It's throwback to a different time! As we pulled into the lot, there was a Bryce Harper impersonator. Sometimes it's Elvis Presley. You pull up under an awning. A waitress comes to your car to take your order. The menu is similar to a fast food restaurant but the food is better! There's hot dogs, burgers, grilled cheese, French fries, etc. the hot dogs are really good. The best part is the root beer! It's served in frosted mugs and soooo good! When your order is delivered, the tray is attached to the side of your car. The servers are friendly, food is served quickly. It's a fun experience! [This review was made in 09/2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic] I have lived in the South Jersey area since I was born and have always passed by Weber's and their spinning sign my entire life. I've always wondered what it was like to eat there and after 23 years of my life, today I answered that question. My friend and I went on the perfect afternoon during golden hour. He'd been there already and said that he would get their Pork Roll and Cheese. We also always go out and get cheesesteaks and got that too. Just to round things off we got fries, shakes, and had to try their root beer given that they were known for it. I would say that maybe we ordered the wrong things on the menu, but we ordered a good portion of the menu itself. Both the Pork Roll and Cheese Sandwich and the Cheesesteak were disappointing -- both of which I could have easily made at home. Their fries needed a bit of salt. The root beer was flat. But the milkshakes were pretty good. I had such high hopes for this place given that it had been around for so long and always seemed popping, but it fell short on all aspects. I will say that going to a drive-in place was a pleasant change from going to a drive thru and finding an empty parking lot to park at! read more

Weber's Root Beer Drive-In is a classic establishment - not really retro because it is actually the real deal. It is what you imagine or saw in movies a roadside establishment in the '50s and '60s would look like. But first let's just talk a little about root beer. The Lenni-Lenape Native Americans in the Delaware River region had long been making drinks from the roots of trees. The European settlers continued to do so but it was a Philadelphia pharmacist Charles Hires who added carbonation and made root beer famous when he served it at the 1876 Philadelphia World's Fair. Root beer is made from the roots of the sassafras tree while its famous cousin in Pennsylvania - birch beer - is made from the roots of the birch tree. Weber's Root Beer became well known in the mid-Atlantic and they built several drive-ins so people could easily enjoy this beverage in the warmer months. Of course they added food items and root beer milk shakes and ice-cream floats to the menu. This remaining Weber's drive-in operates as it probably did many years ago. Cars drive up on all sides and then place an order with a server. Your order comes out on trays which attach to the car windows. Service is very friendly so they will take care of you even if you do not know what you are doing as me and my friend didn't. What to order? Well you don't get any more Pennsy/New Jersey local than ordering a pork roll sandwich with cheese. It's really tasty. And of course ya gotta have a frosted mug of their house-made root beer! Tip - Weber's is not too far from the Ben Franklin Bridge leading from Philly to NJ ... and as you might surmise it is open in the warmer months. read more

We got 2 cheeseburgers, cheese fries, and a root beer float. Everything was simple yet delicious and was the perfect place to stop for a quick bite for lunch. Webers has kind of an old fashioned atmosphere. It isn't really the best place to eat during cold weather, but that shouldn't stop you from eating their yummy food. Last time me and my mom were there, we both got cheese dogs with French fries and cheese dip. Mmmm, the hot dogs were great! And the French fries were also good with the delicious cheese dip. The only thing that is hard at this place is the size of the bathroom. My mom has told me that the bathroom is very tight and is very tiny. I don't really use the bathroom over there, anyway. This place is great though! I suggest this place if your a hot dog person!!! P.S, DQ is really close by, so I would suggest going there too! read more

I had been wanting to try this place because I had been driving by it for years. When we got here, they just opened for the day. Daughter ordered a hot dog with chili topping on the side and thought it was very delicious but it was small. She also ordered onions on the side but didn't get it. Hubs ordered the burger and was wondering "where's the beef?" LOL. His burger order was miniscule. I ordered the cheesesteak sandwich and thought it was ok and I also thought my order was teeny, too. We also ordered fries well done. Mind you, we aren't fat, but we thought the orders were tiny here. Service was friendly and quick here. The hot dogs are indistinguishable from Sabretts-my favorite-and fries are perfectly crispy outside and mashed potatoey inside with a pleasantly unprocessed flavor profile. This is a no frills place to order the basics; burgers, fries, hot dogs and of course, the root beer. Service is quick and courteous! On our latest visit, we had a cheeseburger with tomato slice and raw onion, hot dog with onions and chili cheese fries. Not a root beer fan but their chocolate milkshake is on point; good flavor, thick and creamy. The food had decent flavor but portion sizes tend to be on the small side but I always end up full. The dining experience here is fine. There's two things I do really like about this place - the service and the retro ambiance. Coming here is like a trip back in time to when car hops were a common occurrence as dining options on American highways. The food itself leaves a bit to be desired. I wasn't wowed by their root beer. The syrupy consistency was nice but I felt like there could've been a bit more flavor to it. My burger was very average and reminded me of something I would have at a summer cookout (i.e. a frozen patty that was recently thrown on the grill, complete with an oversized white onion on top). The fries were fine but not amazing, and I probably would have had a better experience if they had not gotten so cold sitting on the window tray. Perhaps come here on a hot day? That way your food won't get cold in the whipping wind. It's a cute little place to go if you want some comfort food, but not something I would go out of my way to go to again.
