Let's start with the good. Very very clean and does not smell. Our chef was pretty good much better than last time. Ok now for everything else... Hostess was not too friendly. Wait staff was incredibly slow and did not remember items. Also, we literally had items left off our order. We had to ask for the items and they were like you still want them. We had the appetizer left off for three meals and the veggies. I mean they did not even comp a soda for leaving off these items for 3 different meals. We were there 1 1/2 hours way way way way way toooooooo long so ridiculous with a lunch reservation to wait this long and then miss items and still come out with same price for items we did not even get. The wait staff was kinda nice but no one was on top of anything and for the price this is just not acceptable to be missing items and not do want is right to take something like off our meal for these items . I saw so many other customers just sitting there at quiet tables. Come on chefs we are paying a premium for a little entertainment not for you to be looking down with not conversations or tricks. Went back to take another star off for the automated message that showed up from the restaurant the minute I posted my review to make it look like they care when it an automated message!!! Benihana never disappoints. Long standing Hibachi with great service. Always a good show and the food is excellent. Dajon my waiter was very friendly and attentive. Never without a beverage refill. If I could leave no stars I would. A co- worker and myself ordered to go lunch and had Uber Eats deliver it. Our lunch totaled $47.20. We ordered 2 hibachi chicken, steak, & shrimp. I requested no eggs because I'm allergic but both had eggs. The food was cold, dry, no vegetables, no sauce after I called and requested yum yum sauce. Lastly the meat was chopped up so finely it looked like the rice. It looked like they took 1 shrimp and diced it into a million pieces. Since I can't eat eggs I had to go without eating lunch. The meal was not worth what we paid for it at all and I will never use them or Uber eats again because I messaged them with my complaint and they never even responded. we had a reservation for a group of 13 people when we got seated we were placed on opposite sides of the restaurant and couldn't even celebrate our friends birthday as we planned. when the cook came he was rushing the service and it took him not even 10 minutes for him to be done and cleaning up while the other table by the time we got done with our food they were still getting the habachi experience . they also forgot one of the steamed rice we had to ask for it in the end by the time we remembered that our friend didn't get it she was already finished with her meal. there should be no reason i am paying $40+ for a maybe 20 minute experience that we can't even experience with our whole group or even sit at the table next to them. read more

Food is so overpriced for what you get. The "show" was NOTHING when we went. We noticed that the chefs that had children at their table did the show, but our table of adults got nothing. Also went for my birthday and not that I'm entitled to anything for going for my birthday, but they didn't even honor the birthday discount that THEY emailed me. I went there for my birthday last week with my family. i had a communal siting except me everyone was non vegetarian on the table. Despite of telling chef he cooked meat first and than vegetables so I had to skipped vegetable and ate only rice on my birthday and paid $125 bill. We went the Plano Benihana for my birthday and will never go again. We were rushed the whole time and there was no personal service. The "chef" was barely trained and made personal insults to my husband and myself. He also made a point of asking if anyone was celebrating a special occasion. I said it was my birthday...nothing ever happened to acknowledge my birthday. Why do you ask that if you aren't going to do anything? RUDE! After the meal we realized they shorted us part of the meal. I asked the waitress about it on the way out and she said "so do you want it now"? No apology. We also complained to the manager who seemed unconcerned and blamed the rushed dinner on everybody wanting to eat at the same time. The manager said he would send us a voucher as an apology for the bad service but that never came. Service from waitress was lousy. We ask about items on the menu and she was incorrect. Told us no salmon on menu, upon our further inspection we found salmon on menu (and ordered it). Ordered wrong entree for one of our guests. Refilled my ice tea with something that was not ice tea (and proceeded to spill that drink on me). If that wasn't enough, when it came to the bill she used the electronic pad after I paid with it she gave me the wrong receipt. When I pointed it out she did a charge reverse and then she increased her tip to 35% which I caught and had her reduce. I am now waiting to see what will actually post to my credit card (pending amount is showing much higher). We won't be back. 12/21/2022 update.... Oh boy. I would like to preface that I have had hibatchi AT LEAST 50 times from multiple different places. This was my first time trying any Benihana location and it was SO disappointing. We went last night (ON A MONDAY, they were not busy at all.) to celebrate a birthday, had a reservation for 9. Every single person in our party was dripping sweat, using the menu as a fan. When we asked about air conditioning, we were told this is normal because the have grills. (No other hibatchi place is THIS hot.) it was absolutely miserable. We were not allowed to sit until our entire party had arrived... which is understandable, I just wish this was advertised when I booked the reservation with OpenTable. Once we sat, it took over 10 minutes to get greeted by our server and receive water. We ordered drinks from the bar which took over 20 minutes to receive (for the first round.) when we were ready for more drinks, it took so long to receive them that we just said nevermind and don't even worry about it anymore. Once our food was getting prepared in front of us, it was quite disappointing. I noticed every other table had a fun chef who was talkative and entertaining, and ours didn't do much. Most hibachi entrees at every other place I've been to come with fried rice, and a variety of vegetables. Benihana only give you 1 slice of zucchini and some onions. (I ordered extra zucchini and onions for $5). At Beni all entrees come with steamed rice or you can upgrade to fried rice for $5 PER entree (which is absolutely insane.) Once food was received, I honestly have nothing bad to say, it tasted great, and was cooked perfectly. I was just very disappointed with how much food you receive for the price you pay. Their menu states that you get hot green tea at the end of your meal as part of the "5 course meal". This does not automatically come to you and you must ask for it. And when it arrives it's room temperature. (Also have to ask for the ice cream that comes with the "6 course meal") I noticed other tables got a birthday song and celebration by staff, however we did not. I mentioned to our chef, and server, at least 5 times that we were here celebrating an occasion, and also entered that on OpenTable when I made the reservation and yet we received nothing like the tables around us did. Overall - the food is great, the service and attitude by other staff members really brings down the vibes. And also profusely sweating while trying to eat your meal is quite the buzz kill. We spent $130 for quite literally the worst birthday celebration I've attended. Very disappointing. read more

My reservation was on 8/13/2022 at 6:30 pm... I got there around 6:35pm and the young lady that was at the desk told me we are running about 10 or 15 minutes behind on tables...She also mentioned that they will give me a call and that they had my number... Something like that... So I said okay... But no big deal,Things come up.... Maybe 10 or 15 minutes go by... All of the sudden I hear my name being yelled across the room... Now mine you I didn't hear anyone else name being call.... My waitress checked on us maybe once or twice... The food was amazing but the service was horrible.... Most definitely would not recommend.. The main reason why people love getting out and spending their money such as eating out is to enjoy life.. Is to enjoy other human beings... The staff was the worst... The amount of money this place charge the service should be Excellent. Instead it wasn't...A couple extra more dollars , you can find a really nice steak house with better Customer service... We have been eating at Benihana's for over 30-40 yrs., all over the US. Always been a fun place to celebrate the kids birthdays. And the food was always pretty good. Last night we went for my grandson's birthday at the Plano location. All I can say is it was a HUGE disappointment. For about the last 3 to 5 times that we've eaten there, the chicken is so dry I can hardly chew it. And so was the case again last night. My daughter agreed also. My son-in-law was the last to get served, and he literally got three pieces of vegetables on his plate. Our family loves vegetables. The portions have gotten very small, and the quality has just gone in the tank. I hope another grand child never wants to eat there again. There are so many newer and better options in restaurants nowadays, especially in the area of this restaurant! I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody! Very sad! **$16+ for A glass of wine! Took my daughter to lunch for an early birthday celebration. Made reservations and was seated as soon as my party had all arrived. We placed our food order along with our drink orders. Waited about 45 minutes and our chef had still not made it over to our table. Needless to say I became frustrated. Advised the waiter that we had another event to be at. The chef showed up about 5 minutes later. The chef made our experience a pleasure. He was friendly and chatting with us and the food OMG. I was here on yesterday, celebrating my birthday, and found myself THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED!! We were having hibachi. So, they took everyone's order, and went to get the food. When he returned, he parked the rolling tray and began preparing the grill to cook. As he's preparing to cook, a woman at the table next to us starts taking food off of our cart with her bare hands!! Wow. Why would anyone think this was ok? Especially with COVID and other communicable diseases floating around... I've never seen anything like this. Yes, I did let the cook and our waitress know. I asked them to say something to her. But to be honest, I don't think they knew how to handle it. It was probably the first time they'd had such a problem. Had dinner at Benihana Sunday night. By way this was my 2nd visit which was supposed to make up for the first bad experience. First time was not pleasant. Vegas roll was delicious. My husband suggested I leave this review because he was disappointed in the service. It was the day after thanksgiving so naturally it was not as packed as it always is.. which is why he didn't understand why soda took 30 + minutes to get to our table. He felt the same about the check. I know this location is popular however sadly the service was disappointing. I think our waitress may have been sick. So I just want to say she did an amazing job and my husband is just picky. Not to mention we did not get our dessert which was never offered. We went for a special occasion and service was great. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the food. The filet was good quality, but the rest of the meal was basically tasteless. Chicken was dry, small portion of veggies and the fried rice needed tons of soy sauce just to have some kind of flavor. So disappointing for what you pay. Definitely not the Benihana I was expecting. Unacceptable experience. I placed an order online, to be picked up at 7:15 (about 2 hours later). I show up at 7:10, and the hostess tells me it's going to be 10-15 more minutes. I get it... it's a busy night, and I'm 5 mins early. 15 mins later, at 7:25, I asked for an updated time and the hostess says she is going to check on it. Takes her a few mins before she comes out and doesn't say anything to me. I assume it's just not ready yet. 10 more minutes go by... no word. I ask for another update, and she says "it's not ready". 5 more minutes go by, now it's 7:40. The manager tells me that i would be getting a full refund for the mixup. I stood there very confused... he says something along the lines of "oh, it looks like you don't know what happened. there has been a mixup and your order was given to someone else." They refunded my money and he said they were working on it right away and it should just be a few more minutes. At this point, I could tell everyone is getting uncomfortable. Employees gave me the cold shoulder as they would walk by, they wouldn't make eye contact, lots of whispers, etc. I checked in one more time, and the hostess says "Oh, my manager hasn't talked to you yet?" She walks away. I see a manager and ask for an update. He says they are working on it, but they are just busy. At this point, I finally gave up. I'd been waiting for almost an hour, and nobody could tell me when my order would be ready. My husband and I had been traveling all day. It was Christmas and most places were closed. We were so thankful that Benihana was open and that we could place an order for pickup. We ended up wasting an hour waiting around and didn't get to eat a meal because by the time we left, it was too late to order elsewhere. ADVICE FOR MANAGEMENT: Most people are understanding when there is a mixup or mistake. Please train your team on how to handle these difficult situations and on how to keep an open line of communication. Not following up, walking by your guests while looking in the opposite direction, and completely ignoring our questions because "a manager has to have the conversation" is not ok. read more

I live in the area, and Benihanas is my favorite restaurant among a group of excellent places to eat. The food is consistently delicious and enjoyably prepared in front of you. The staff is friendly and very professional, making each visit a pleasure. The restaurant is always clean and has a lively, fun atmosphere, thanks to the chefs and their entertaining cooking style. I'd also like to commend Josh, Alex, and Germaine for their courteous, attentive, and diligent service.
