Unacceptable experience. I placed an order online, to be picked up at 7:15 (about 2 hours later). I show up at 7:10, and the hostess tells me it's going to be 10-15 more minutes. I get it... it's a busy night, and I'm 5 mins early. 15 mins later, at 7:25, I asked for an updated time and the hostess says she is going to check on it. Takes her a few mins before she comes out and doesn't say anything to me. I assume it's just not ready yet. 10 more minutes go by... no word. I ask for another update, and she says "it's not ready". 5 more minutes go by, now it's 7:40. The manager tells me that i would be getting a full refund for the mixup. I stood there very confused... he says something along the lines of "oh, it looks like you don't know what happened. there has been a mixup and your order was given to someone else." They refunded my money and he said they were working on it right away and it should just be a few more minutes. At this point, I could tell everyone is getting uncomfortable. Employees gave me the cold shoulder as they would walk by, they wouldn't make eye contact, lots of whispers, etc. I checked in one more time, and the hostess says "Oh, my manager hasn't talked to you yet?" She walks away. I see a manager and ask for an update. He says they are working on it, but they are just busy. At this point, I finally gave up. I'd been waiting for almost an hour, and nobody could tell me when my order would be ready. My husband and I had been traveling all day. It was Christmas and most places were closed. We were so thankful that Benihana was open and that we could place an order for pickup. We ended up wasting an hour waiting around and didn't get to eat a meal because by the time we left, it was too late to order elsewhere. ADVICE FOR MANAGEMENT: Most people are understanding when there is a mixup or mistake. Please train your team on how to handle these difficult situations and on how to keep an open line of communication. Not following up, walking by your guests while looking in the opposite direction, and completely ignoring our questions because "a manager has to have the conversation" is not ok. read more

I LOVE this place! I don't think I've ever been and NOT eaten at the entertaining hibachi grill. I don't even care for the tricks and stuff, just give me the food...with LOTS of garlic butter. YES! My most recent visit, there was a lack of communication though. I wanted double veggies, no rice. Not fried rice appetizer, no steamed rice, no rice. Well I mentioned it to my waitress and she acknowledged it. Well, when the chef comes, he has no idea what I'm talking about. I am pretty sure that people come into that restaurant with various diet restrictions. This was a simple swap out. So, the waitress asks me what veggies I wanted and I said I just want more veggies than we normally get, swap that out for the rice that we get with the meal. It was so much confusion, I ended up getting JUST a lot more mushrooms, of course I didn't want my rice, then I was charged $4 extra for it. Makes no sense ESPECIALLY if I just asked for one instead of another. EITHER WAY...this is a great place for parties, big groups, celebrations. Lots of food, no doubt about that. The manager, so sweet, she came over and told us about the new sauce that comes with the entrees. They kept the ginger sauce, now instead of mustard sauce, you get Yum Yum sauce. It was 1:08 before we were seated. Unacceptable. Why have a reservation? At 1:17 I was finally asked about if I wanted something to drink. 1:44 chef arrived at the table. The chef did an outstanding job. Food was good as usual but the lack of efficiency bothers me. I expect that if I have a reservation I'm going to be seated promptly. Almost 45 minutes after my reservation is unacceptable. Then being seated for 10 minutes before getting anything to drink. Then waiting to cash out, really. We had a group celebrating my son's 18th birthday yesterday and Justin took care of us. He was by far, THE BEST server we have ever had at Benihana. The food is typically consistent, but the service is usually not great. Our chef was also entertaining & personable, not always the norm. I fully intend on speaking with kina tomorrow and I'm going to bring this up that she really needs to have more experienced staff working in the evening and maybe try and work in the evening herself.*** I visited this location on October 14th for my birthday and we had a reservation for 7:30 p.m. for me and my father. We were seated at a table at 7:45 p.m. along with six other people. A chef did not come to our table until 8:40 p.m. and there was no apology from the manager on duty his name is Jason who a few of us asked to speak with. We asked him why it was taking so long for a chef to come to our table and he didn't have an answer. I asked him if it was because they were overbooked and they were just busy and he said no that they weren't overbooked. After finishing that statement, he walked off. At 8:40 p.m. the chef arrived and he started making our food. Now I don't know if it was just the personality of the chef, but every time we stated that we didn't like a certain food being offered, he would scream "Manager!" Now maybe he was just trying to be funny about it but in my opinion he handled it in poor taste but he was still a very nice guy. After we got done eating, one customer sitting at our table was trying to use a birthday coupon that his friend had gotten from your website for $30 off or something like that. Jason came to the table & attempted to explain to him that the fine print at the bottom states that you have to spend at least $60 not including alcoholic beverages to be able to use the coupon. That customer was pointing out that it does not clearly state that & Jason, it seemed like did his best to explain it in a way the customer would understand. I began to chime in to add on to that person's complaint and Jason looked at me and said, "I wasn't speaking to you. Can I speak to him w/o you interrupting?" Now I would like to say that I was not being loud nor was I being disrespectful, but where in the hell does this guy get off speaking to me like that?! I was about to go off on him, but my father stopped me. All of the complaints that anybody at our table had, it was obvious Jason did not seem to care. Now maybe he was having a rough night, but if you're giving the position of manager then you need to know how to bounce back from negative comments from other customers. When you got done speaking to that customer you stood up and started to walk away and I said in a loud voice, "excuse me sir but can I speak to you for a minute?" I know he heard me because of the volume of my voice, but Jason kept walking away. We were not offered any kind of discount or compensation for the amount of time we had to wait. During our waiting, the staff that handled our drinks and stuff before the chef showed up, they didn't offer us free appetizers. Now I know that if it's busy that stuff happens, but by Jason's admission they were not busy. Before I left, I asked to get the general manager's card and phone number was kindly given that information. I 100% feel bad for the lady assigned to our table because her hands were tied. She didn't have any way to compensate us for the long wait or anything like that. To me honestly it seemed like she wanted to offer us some compensation but management would not approve it. I'm not sure what type of manager Jason is, but it is in my customer service expertise experience that he does not need to be working in a management position. It is because of him that NONE of the people at our table stated that they would be return customers. Your food is definitely excellent in comparison to other hibachi restaurants that I've been to. Your steak has a lot of flavor and does not taste bland like other restaurants. Most definitely appreciate that! (edit on the 15th) Mickey, a manager, followed up. Definitely appreciative of the way he handled the situation with me. I also received a phone call from the regional manager for Texas named Steven and he gave me an update after speaking with Jason and at the end of the call with him I was very satisfied with how it was handled and I will definitely be going back. We made reservations for a date night and had a terrible "experience". Our chef was quiet, put on no kind of show, and rushed through everything. It was terrible seeing other tables laugh and enjoy things while our whole table was discontent, everyone was talking about it after they left how there were no cool tricks or talking to us. The server also never came over to check on the table or do refills, we got up during the process to find a waitress who told us she would tell her to come over, We didn't get the actual server to show up again still for another 10-15 minutes. She replaced other waters and did not ask us if we wanted a refill on our sodas. We had to get her attention later on AGAIN, she also brought out the wrong flavors of ice cream and wrong sauces to other table members. I live in the area, and Benihanas is my favorite restaurant among a group of excellent places to eat. The food is consistently delicious and enjoyably prepared in front of you. The staff is friendly and very professional, making each visit a pleasure. The restaurant is always clean and has a lively, fun atmosphere, thanks to the chefs and their entertaining cooking style. I'd also like to commend Josh, Alex, and Germaine for their courteous, attentive, and diligent service. Ok, my last hibachi review for a while. I'm pretty sure most are familiar with Benihana's, and me and my husband decided to make this our spot for Valentine's Day this year. We made our reservations about two weeks in advance, and when we arrived we only waited about five minutes for our spot, and the place was packed. Keep in mind, this is in the shops at legacy so you will have to find parking in a garage, and walk to the destination. We were seated with several other couples, and the management even helped one of the gentleman at our table pull off an awesome engagement. Our chef was relatively new, as he admitted. He was great at keeping the table going, but he did have a tendency to fling the rice around. I think I might still be picking fried rice out of my hair. We decided to order a couple drinks for the occasion, and really liked the "Matcha breeze" it was very heavy coconut, but it was quite unique. Foodwise, I went with my standby of filet mignon, and the hubby went with the emperors feast. We naturally got the famous Benihana fried rice. The filet meal was quite expensive for the quality. I've had much better at other locations, as well as at other hibachi joints for the fraction of the cost. The fried rice also wasn't as flavorful as past visits. They took photos for us at the end of our visit, which was a great way to end the night in a special way. My husband said he's still craving for Benihana rice so I imagine we will be back! read more

Benihana's is usually one of my favorite restaurants, unfortunately tonight was not the case. The server we had seemed bothered and uninterested. I felt that was strange because the servers are usually very nice and are usually very engaging. But honestly that was not the real problem. The problem was the serving sizes. I have pictures to support my claim. I ordered the Benihana Trio which is something I always order. This particular time the chicken serving was a bit stingy lol to say the least. It was as though he counted the pieces I was to have lol. Also the onion portion was very small. Honestly everything was small except the shrimp portion. This particular location is usually good. I've been here several times and this is the first time this has happened. My bill was $200 plus dollars and I still gave a great tip but hopefully that doesn't happen again. My "filet" was cheap fatty steak. And the sauces were gross. We had to ask for soy sauce multiple times, and the ice cream that came with my meal was never offered. The quality and service do not match the price point of this place and are frankly abysmal. We will NEVER return. Everything went well. Food was great as always. We got seated without too much wait time. I love that we were able to make reservations. All though it was Father's Day service was pretty efficient. The only complaint I have is that our appetizer came to us after we were almost done with our meal. Just one tip of advice, you won't be seated until your complete party is all there and present. I asked the host if we could be seated with out my daughter being there and that she would be arriving soon. She made it a big deal. So that was a little annoying. By the time my daughter arrived we had already ordered her food and it was no big deal. Not sure why they made it a big deal. Anyway. I've been to this location several times before and I've been to other Benihana locations, so I want to start off by saying, we love this brand, we love their food, and we typically love their service. We went to dinner last night, 10 of us, 7 adults, 3 kids. When I made the reservation I made sure to specify that and even ask that there be 2 highchairs at the table prior to our arrival. Our reservation was for 6:15pm. Half of our party arrived at 6:00pm and my family arrived at 6:09pm. My husband let all of us out of the car while he goes and find parking, which means 9 out of 10 people in our party was present. My mother in law asked the hostess if they can go ahead and seat us so we can get situated, since I am 9mo pregnant and we had 2 toddlers with us, the hostess refused and said she needs to wait until every person in the party is present. Once my husband arrives, he still had to go ask to seat us, by this time it's 6:30pm, 15mins past our reservation time. We arrived at our table to see that it was not setup as requested, so the hostess had to go find high chairs for the toddlers that were present. The beginning of the dinner started off just fine, the server came by, took everyone's drink order and asked if we wanted appetizers, we ordered about 3-4 of them. It took about 5mins to get our drinks, which we were fine with, but as we were waiting for our orders to be taken, that took forever. Our appetizers came out 30-40mins later, but they were coming out in staggers, as if the orders were being placed at separate times, at this point, everyone at the table needed refills. She finally comes by with refills and takes our order. After our order has been taken about 20-25mins later a chef comes out to the grill, he introduces himself and realizes the hostess never turned the grill on. He apologizes and says he'll be back in about 10 mins once the grill is hot. 10 min passes, 15 min passes, 20 mins passes, nothing. We see the chef come back towards our table but he comes by to grab his cart and takes it back to the back. 10 mins later, the MOD (manager on duty) comes by and apologizes for the wait and offers free appetizers while we wait (it's been over an hr since we've sat down). We all said no, bc our original appetizers took forever to come out and we were all starving, especially my 2 yr old who is now asking for his food. I asked her how long will it take for our chef to come out she gives me an ETA of 3-5mins. 15mins go by, my husband finally goes to the front and had get on to her about getting someone over to our table. It was the WORST experience I have ever had at this restaurant, particularly at this location. Our dinner ended close to 9pm and all the kids were tired and exhausted at this point. We will never return to this location again. Unfortunately, the lack of empathy from the Hostess all the way to the manager on duty just sealed the deal for us. Our party of 4 wasn't impressed by the food and the manager (Valentin) gave us a 50% discount on the check. I know sometimes things doesn't go as desired but for some restaurants that is really hard to accept. Not in this case, the Manager took responsibility and everybody's honor was saved. As with many, cost is an issue when dining out. With that, it's not too often that we are able to dine at Benihana. On April 24, 2021, we made an exception as our son has been begging to go after recently having to experience his first ER visit. Oftentimes, there is little conversation between non related table mates, but this time was much different. First, the other family had kids similar in age, and with a shared interest in "Pokemon Go." But, most importantly, was the exceptional interaction between out cook, Dave, and the rest of the table. One of the kids told Dave he should be a comedian, and I would agree! Everything was cooked to perfection, but it was the top-notch service that truly made the lunch stand out from other visits to Benihana and other similar establishments. My wife and I (some times with our Grandkids) go to Benihana for special occasions like birthdays, wedding anniversary's and/or celebration dinners). This evening was for my birthday. Our server, Ms. Rachel, provided World Class Service. She was attentive, responsive and always available to check on our every wishes.
