Mmmmm Hibachi... This location was extra nice in that the original restaurant (also in hwy 6, but to remain nameless) that advertised Hibachi didnt really truly have Hibachi (it was only in the kitchen, negative because the point of hibachi for spectators like myself is to see a show...)... Going back to Benihana... They were great... we called and they answered. They were able to accomodate a large group of 11 people. We were the last ones there and they did not rush us. We had an awesome dinner and was entertained!!! Not to mention that it was delicious! I ordered the Benihana delight, which is I believe a 7 course meal with soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, an entree, and ice cream as dessert!!! I chose the sherbert and it was surprisingly delish!!! The only thing I would suggest is less salt/MSG or whatever they use. For some reason it tastes more salty than other places. Great service from Brian and Chef Will!! read more

A friend was in the mood for sashimi, so we came here. We sat at the bar and took advantage of the happy hour menu. There is a bit of a food selection, so if you are in the mood for sushi, you can keep this place in mind as an option. Here is a rundown of what I ordered: Seaweed salad - Typical of what you would expect and spot on for taste Miso soup - Not bad I suppose. The spoon for the soup is weird. It's not your typical Asian spoon and is more shallow than usual. Gyoza - Filled with pork, it's not too bad. You get 5 pieces, and I am unsure if there is a different portion on the normal menu. Gyoza takes a lot of time to make, so I am willing to pay the happy hour price. Soft shell crab - Pass on this. It was completely battered and so greasy you could not taste the actual crab. I think this is the first time I have eaten soft shell crab with breading, and frankly I was surprised. Soft shell crab is not easy to obtain, so the focus of the appetizer should be the crab. Dragon sushi - I like eel, so it was good as long as you could eat the eel and sushi together. The sushi kept falling apart. Oh well. It was on happy hour, so what can you do? Add a friend's sashimi plate and my vodka sunrise, and the bill was $50.88. This seems quite expensive to me, and I did not think I really ordered that much food. Yes, it seems like a lot of different plates, but there was not that much per plate. Unless there is some sort of discount, I will not be back! read more

Unfortunately I really wanted to enjoy this place but it was definitely overrated and overpriced. We went for dinner for my daughter's 5th birthday and she only had edamame and noodles with two adults and our bill was over $140. This place is pricey for what you get, and although it's cool and novel to see them cook the food in front of you, I'm not sure that it's worth $30+ a person for. We usually only come here when we have the $30 birthday voucher, so at least one of us gets a discount. We always do order the higher priced stuff... who wants just chicken? I get the ocean delight with shrimp, scallops and lobster tail. Lobster is usually cooked perfectly but some of the cooks forget the lemon. :( also, my scallops were of varying size this time, so some of them were overcooked. The husband got the Benihana special with steak and lobster. Tips: chicken fried rice is an extra $3.70 instead of the steamed rice. It's good but does seem like a steep up charge. Hot Green tea comes with most meals. They won't bring it out unless you ask though. Some meals come with dessert (ice cream) but you also get dessert if it's your bday. They didn't give it to us twice. It can get noisy and packed in here. Make reservations even on a weekday night! And don't expect to talk too much since it's a bit loud in the restaurant. read more

Best Benihana in the Houston area! Clean, quick, good food, this location is the best. Walked in, was seated immediately (depending on how long a party takes and if you have a reservation). Our waitress was attentive and friendly and we received everything we asked for (soy sauce, garlic butter, steamed rice) very quickly. Our Chef was the best! I think his name is Thai and he did a very good job cooking our orders and engaging with us while putting on the "show". I ordered Hibachi Shrimp with no onions and extra zucchini and 2 steamed rice (added soy sauce) for about $30. The shrimp were cooked great and I received a good amount. In this location, 2 steamed or fried rice are not extra but not sure about other locations. Asking for extra garlic butter has changed and the waiters bring it out for you, it's an extra .50 cents but worth it in my opinion. Surprised at the low rating. We visit this location and it's good to us. The food tastes great and the service is fine.

45 minute wait after our reservation. Walk ins seated before us. Very disappointed and god they need new management. Stop hiring managers that will make excuses. Not sure the food is even worth this wait. The temperature in this place is about 82 degrees and the smoke is rolling at the ceiling. This place use to be top notch. Now it's less than mediocre. Shame shame. Edited: the food was less than mediocre, we reserved two tables and we each had a chef and different waiter/ waitress. One table was charged for the other family they were put together with on the other side. The idiot hostess asked if we could seat 8 adult people plus three baby high chairs at one table. The only POSITIVE was one of our table's waitress. She was great. And attentive. The waiter that over charged our other part at the other table was angry and disgruntled about charging us for another family's meal and charging a 10 year old for an adult meal. That bull was originally $195 and once they fixed it it was $132. This is the last time we will visit this shit establishment. read more

When we looked around at the other tables around us - we saw pretty much the same from the other chefs...0 showmanship anywhere. I spoke with the hostess on our way out and she claimed the chefs still perform the tricks (we did not see it). That aside - the staff was overall friendly. Don't bother coming to this Benihana. They never have chefs and even if you make a reservation it's pointless. They make you wait for about 20 minutes regardless of how many people. Always the same excuse. I would recommend the one on Westheimer, even though they're always busy.. that's a sign that they always have chefs, but make sure to make your reservation. We went and specified we were there for a birthday celebration. It was not acknowledged at all, however the table next to us was celebrated. The chef did not engage with us at all which is primarily the point of going. He never engaged with the table. This was overall very disappointing experience and won't be coming back. What's the point of asking for special occasions on the reservation if you're not going to do anything about it. We once again had an amazing dinner tonight at Benihanas in Sugar Land. Mia was our server and she along with Doris are two of the best waitresses not only here but in all the restaurants we visit. They were so pleasant, and were always available when we needed refills or had questions on the menus. What impressed us even more was when the manager came over to make sure we were satisfied.
