I'm a little taken back by the other reviews this place has received. I drove all the way from Sacramento to try this place as I've heard nothing but great things about the place. And I stand on THE DRIVE WAS WELL WORTH IT! People are claiming they are over priced, whaaaat? Where? Everything on the menu is $25 or less besides the one special sushi roll, so either people are just really cheap or I'm missing something. The food was great!! Potstickers had really good flavor and were fried to perfection! My bowl was amazinggggg and had tons of flavor and of course I had tons of leftovers to take home. I splurged and me and my husband tried the sushi roll with gold, it was sooo good, and the waiter also brought me out a bunch of different sauces to try which were all pretty bomb! Then to end the night we got the fried strawberries and the chocolate mochi ice cream, let's just say I only got one bite of the strawberries as my husband destroyed them lol, but I didn't mind because the mochi was sooooo good! Also I know it's kind of random lol but of course with such a long drive I had to use the restroom and the bathrooms are pretty cool! The decor throughout the entire restaurant are amazing! Owners definitely put some thought and paid total attention to detail and they DID NOT MISS! We will definitely be back. Please don't base your decision on trying this place out based on these other reviews. All I have to say is try it and the restaurant will handle the rest! read more

Benji's is worth a try in Historic Orland. I was surprised by the interior - I did not expect such a creative and aesthetic ambiance. The protein and vegetable selections for the Mongolian bbq offered a wide variety and everything was fresh. Andrea was very attentive and helpful to me and my family. She offered us a complimentary mochi dessert after we all ate our delicious meals. I recommend trying this spot if you ever find yourself in this part of NorCal. read more

We went with friends to this is a Mongolian BBQ style restaurant, it is similar to Hula's. They had a wide selection of proteins (meats), noodles, vegetables, and sauces to put on your bowl. The bowls were extremely small, and the trays seemed to have a lot of oily residue on them probably from the cooking oil option. We ordered sushi, which was delicious, the rolls were smaller than most places though, but did come out on a plate with a firework, so they get extra points for presentation. It take them a long time to prepare them. The black Zen bathroom is something you must experience, although I think the sink is a recipe for disaster especially for some unsupervised child. Overall, the place was nice, but overpriced for what you get in the end. We had four bowls, and one sushi roll and no drinks, and our bill was nearly 150.00 with tip. read more

This place is so good! We were in the mood for Hulas but didn't feel like driving to Chico, so we decided to try this place and were so glad we did! Just as good as Hulas if not better, more options than just the bowls including sushi, and the bowls come with rice and a yummy ginger salad. The jalapeño popper/crab appetizer was super delicious too and the service was amazing. Our servers name was Andrea and she was awesome! read more

Ive gone here quite a few times since they opened. The Mongolian bbq bowls are absolutely delicious!! I tried the fried rice add on which was very pricy and it had zero flavor. Would not get that again. I tried sushi rolls last night and the $23 roll had only a few bites of a very small shrimp inside and then it was nothing else but cucumber inside it... so I wouldn't order sushi here either. Service was amazing as always but still a huge bummer they serve zero alcohol here. read more

I get it. This is a brand new restaurant & it'll take time for this restaurant to be actually ready. Besides the place looking really cozy and dim, the 40 minute wait in line for your food to be ready was not it. The sushi even took that long to make. Although I did go on a busy week night but we didn't really get told our sushi was going to be a bit of a wait until way later. The price of the bowl for the Mongolian style bbq was quite expensive, which I could've driven myself to Hulas instead and actually got to take some leftovers home. The bowls at this restaurant were really tiny even if you squished it down so do not expect a lot of food. Also they make you pay extra for "premium water" and if not you'll get plain tap water. read more

We went there for Dinner yesterday. Building is beautifully renovated. Dinner bowls are about $25 and you fill them and hand over to cooks and they grill it . We tried sushi and bowl , it was good. We had a delicious lunch at Benji's. We tried the Mongolian BBQ/grill, three sushi rolls, tacos, the Tower of Orland (shrimp tempura), and a poke bowl. Everyone enjoyed their lunches! Yessica was our server and she provided great service. The atmosphere was really neat - they put in a lot of work. I wish I had taken pictures of the sushi rolls - they were original, tasty and had a great presentation. The Flaming Cheeto roll was a favorite. We will definitely return. read more

We only got their sushi rolls it's a bit pricey but good the Mexican lobster tostadas were amazing. Waitress was friendly although at times it would take a bit to get the things asked for as she was attending other tables. Restaurant was very nice looking and good ambience. Ridiculously small portions of low quality, highly overpriced food. My family had their bowls and the staff continually tried to upsell us on their absurd $10 bottles of water and $100 sushi. Overall, an unpleasant experience at a restaurant owned by two unpleasant locals. read more

People compare this place to hulas in chico so I decided to check it out since Hula's is flavorful, affordable, and has really large portions. My experience here was the exact opposite though- stale, small portions that lacked flavor with prices higher than a sushi establishment in San Francisco. Even worse, management tried to deceive me with "complimentary" add ons. I assumed these would not be an additional cost but instead found they tried to charge me $10 for water and more for chicken in my rice bowl. Won't be back to this lazy attempt at luxury. read more

Wow! I would not have expected such a great sushi and mongolian BBQ place in Orland! We are from the Bay Area and are used to nice restaurants and this place certainly is nice. It is very new with a cool/hip atmosphere. Very good sushi and I absolutely love mongolian BBQ. The manager was very nice and attentive. He came to our table and made sure everything was just right. I have to say the staff and kitchen staff where very accommodating for my daughters food allergies. It was our first time there. When we started eating our food our waitress asked if we would like "complementary " so we said sure. We where getting test to leave and she said that if we wanted to wait for complementary strawberries and we said yes.... Free stuff we don't get often. We got our check and there was a charge for the "complementary rice and strawberries " when we asked her she said she was going to adjust the bill she came back and I said there was the charge for the rice and she said yes, the only complementary rice is the White rice not the fried rice. Which she never stated that the fried rice was not complementary. The prices are outrageous each little cup of rice was $13 the bowls that's we got where $24.95and they are a lot smaller than any teriyaki place I been to. I don't understand why throw the word complementary world and then see it on the bill. For the price of food we got we are not planning to go back. The place is beautiful, friendly staff but what you get to eat for the price is definitely not worth it especially for a family. Felt more like a snack than dinner. read more

Our group went to Benji's on their first "soft opening" night. So that meant no wine, beer or cocktails. There wasn't a menu except what was given orally by the waitress. Who, I might add, was the nicest and most efficient waitress I've experienced in a long time. We ordered several plates of California roll, a mongolian bowl and several seafood tacos. It was all quite yummy. It's kinda high priced but it was a rather new experience in Orland. A sparkler (more like a flare) was served with the California roll. Now that's different!!! I thought it was strange that the interior, right down to the chopsticks and toilets was black! Good lighting though, so you're not eating in the dark ;-) They've got a way to go to convince me to make it a regular place on my list of restaurants in Orland. I'm a local and good change is always welcome in our town. Best of everything to Benji's. We're going to wait for awhile before returning and give this place another try.
