Our preferred Calabash location when we visit Myrtle Beach. Yes the line/wait during prime hours gets thick but it's not too bad if people done table hyberbate after they eat. So depends on the generosity of the patrons because the servers and the food are never the problem. The line was out the door Saturday at 8p and we still got seated within 20 minutes. Love the table hush puppies and butter!! The crab legs were plentiful. Great experience! Expect market price for buffet, we paid $35, and coming from the North that is standard. No complaints on the food at all. My only issue is the photo peddler. Our free photo was not clear ... smudged even. However we were presented with a clear pic we could buy for 15 bucks which she later said 10 bucks..just for the 4x6 clear photo. No bueno...just print the clear photo the first time. We ordered the big photo with frame last year when we visited so we didn't need another Calabash frame... but would've loved a great photo of this dining experience as well. Service was good. Waiter was very attentive! Good however was the let down. Everything was over cooked. Shrimp was mushy, mahi was fishy. Even the crab legs were just ok. The prime rib was not bad and was a saving grace for lunch. Don't think I'd come back, we left full but didn't enjoy very much of it. Haven't tried many of the seafood buffets in the area but this one did not disappoint. Some mention the price ($40-50/person) but when you get oysters, unlimited crab legs, a wide range of cold and steamed seafood and a pretty good salad and desert bar, you can't complain. Our waiter Mika was excellent and we wouldn't hesitate to go back. Others mention the dining area is admittedly outdated but so are most places in Myrtle Beach so I wouldn't hold that against them at all. read more

Went in early and the crab legs seemed bland at first, as if they'd been overcooked or left sitting in hot water too long. They brought out some better ones after a little while and all was well. Our waitress, Coretta was awesome and we weren't left wanting anything from her. Our used plates and crab remains were quickly whisked away with replacements provided. Glasses were kept full. Had a disappointing experience at the Bennet's near Little River on Hwy 17, on Tuesday, May lst. at 3:45 pm. The crab legs were not fresh, had black spots, and had legs missing which had rehealed, and when you broke them you had to remove the meat with a fork. The color of the crab legs did not have a bright color. Some other foods seemed reheated, while others were fine. Crab legs and i was not disappointed! They were always refilled and never empty, warm and juicy! And these werent those tiny ones either they were full of meat! And honestly i ate so much of them that i didnt have much else. The hush puppies were THE BOMB! Only tried them because another yelper said they were good and oh lord they were! Steak was eh, mussels were okay, and the pasta was highly over cooked.. But WHO CARES. I came for the all you can eat crab and it was so good !!!!! They had craw fish which was tasty as well! A friend and I desperately love the hush puppies and the honey butter they serve with them here (and at every Calabash restaurant). Not often in Myrtle Beach (like, once every three-four years?) we couldn't remember if this was the place or not, so we'd called desperately to find out and found out that yes, this is the place. We got the buffet -- it's expensive, of course, but with all you can eat snow crab legs that's really what you expect. $25ish dollars per person isn't so bad when you keep that in mind. Honestly, we love those hush puppies so much we'd probably spend that just for all you can eat of those, haha. The place is clean, albeit...well, kind of lackluster? There's nothing particularly special about the insides. While they're not beautiful or gorgeous, I would firmly put them in the "eh, they're there," range of life. The food I had was good. The stuffed crab wasn't anything to write home about, but the crab legs were well cooked, and the mussels were fantastic. I've had a lot of terrible mussels and am sort of picky about them, but despite being a buffet, these mussels were really good. They offer pizza (not great but kids liked it). Staff provided lots of plates and napkins at the start of the meal. But took quite a bit of time to clear the used plates and crab baskets. Looking for crab and not knowing where to eat in Myrtle Beach, a friend and I ended up at Bennett's Calabash due to heavy advertising and the outside themed appearance. We didn't want a big buffet dinner at $25 per person (over-priced compared to Golden Corral), so we ordered deviled crab dinners from the menu. What we were served was baked bread stuffing in a small crab shell (NO visible crab or crab taste). My baked potato was twice-overbaked (reheated in a microwave)... dried out and visibly noticeable as a left-over. The hush puppies were greasy. The shrimp were a few "popcorn" shrimp that appeared to have been frozen. The manager said "That's the way it comes". I sent my whole order back, uneaten. Very disappointing experience. I would definitely not recommend Calabash. The manager acted as though he didn't care one bit. The next day we asked some locals for some good places to get seafood and were given an excellent list that were not tourist traps. I recommend others do the same before falling for the tourist game. I have visited this eatery many times in the 20+ years living close by and the food was better than in the past and I would come back again soon. We loved the changes of the restaurant and looks like it is more up to date then before. The changes were NEEDED. Also adding the extra sink in the ladies bathroom was GREAT -- that was very impressive especially after eating CRAB LEGGs.....
