Disgusting! The place reeked when I walked in, so other than being embarrassed to do so, I wish I would've turned around and walked back out. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay. The server came back and said they were out of Chardonnay. So I asked for cranberry with vodka and was told they don't have cranberry juice. I settled with a suggested strawberry daiquiri. From the buffet, I tried the stuffed shrimp, crab meat, shrimp scampi, and boiled potatoes. The stuffed shrimp was soggy, the crab meat was so bad, I actually spit it out into a napkin. I tried Bennetts number 3 the last time and was disappointed compared to this one and they are the same company. Food is amazing and it's the largest one of the 3. When we went there the restaurant wasn't hugely dirty and the selection wasn't the best wasn't the worse. Sadly though it wasn't worth the $37, after the coupon, for one person. We had a wonderful dinner here tonight. Our server, Chi Chi, was amazing! We never had to ask for beverage refills and our used plates were cleared promptly. The buffet offered a wonderful assortment of seafood and non-seafood selections, including prime rib and rib eyes. The crab legs were awesome and plentiful! The fried selections were not overcooked, the steamed shrimp was tasty and there were a lot of desserts to choose from. Long review alert, but I had the BEST experience at this restaurant about 2 weeks ago, and I truly don't understand any bad reviews for this location! First, I am honestly not a fan of buffets. I can be slightly a food snob, a germaphobe, and I generally think buffet food is subpar whenever I've attended them, but they are convenient when you have a large group of people. However, this was honestly the best buffet I've eaten at. The food areas looked clean and well laid out. Plus, everything was tasty, fresh, and the proper temperature, and if something needed to be replenished, we just asked the staff and they replaced it ASAP. But more important than the food to me was the service! It was PHENOMENAL. I am not exaggerating either. My family had our reunion dinner here after our reservations fell through last minute at another place. I called and spoke to Tim the manager to make reservations here only 2 weeks ahead of time during one of the busiest weekends in Myrtle Beach, and they were nice enough to accommodate us. When I arrived in town, I stopped by the night before to check everything out since the reviews were kind of mixed, and even though it was right before closing, everything still looked good--the food layout, the bathroom was fine as public restrooms go, etc. Tim wasn't there that night, but I met his brother who I think is named Sir Royal (I feel bad for forgetting his name because he was so so nice) who is also a manager there. Anyway, he came to the front when I arrived, introduced himself, and happily showed me around to where we'd be sitting. So, fast forward to the next day, and I casually joked to that same manager that my family had some issues with our hotel accommodations, and I was praying everything went ok for dinner. Well, I found out towards the end of dinner that he actually told his waitstaff to take extra good care of us because we were having a string of bad luck, which was unexpected, but SO nice and considerate to do! And the staff members were so good that my mom asked me if they were aware that the tip was built into the price of the buffet we were quoted :-) Trisha was one of our servers, and she was amazingly friendly and accommodating. This was seriously one of, if not the best, experience I've ever had a buffet, and they managed all of this great service for me and my family even after hosting a reunion of 150 people right before us! That is talent! So, thank you again Mr. Tim and his brother...you guys understand what effective management and great customer are all about! Last, I see some people complained about price and that baffles me. Clearly these complaining people have limited experience with seafood buffets in Myrtle Beach lol. With our group discount, adults paid $32 for unlimited GOOD food (including crab legs), drink, tax and tip included! Poor salad selection in addition to unspecified dressings. My party ordered from the menu and to use my dinner as an example, the scallops were swimming in the oil they were cooked in and not drained properly before serving. While the manager did discount the dinner, the service was bad with the exception of one waiter who jumped in and helped to properly serve our table. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all. This was probably the worst experience I have had at a seafood buffet, hands down. Facility was not clean/well maintained, the waitress complained of the restaurant and how it was run by management and that she has preferred working at other restaurants, and the food was hardly fast food quality. Many people come for the crab legs, however there were 5-6 clusters put out about every 10 minutes. This left guests lurking around the buffet and scrambling to grab a few hot crab legs whenever they appeared. The rest of the food was not well-liked by anyone in our party of 8. At one point in time there were eight dirty plates at the end of our table waiting to be picked up. The waitress often refilled drinks and left the table with dirty plates lying about. The ladies restroom was desperately in need of cleaning. I would not recommend the place to anyone, especially when there are 20 other seafood buffets in the area. Coming in from Texas, my friend took my family to this establishment because she had been visiting the restaurant for 20+years and wanted to impress us. We were very underwhelmed. The food was mediocre at best, cold and service was poor. When we spoke with the manager about how the quality had gone downhill, he had every excuse in the book and a rebuttal for each issue brought to his attention. He told us that they have been using the same vendors for many many years so the food should be exactly the same and made it a point to tell us that the food on a buffet is at the "legal" temperature of 135 degrees. Not once did he apologize for our experience not offer to "make things right" but instead went directly to the waitstaff and pointed us out and told Them that we were complaining. For a party of 6, $250 was entirely too expensive to have the service we were dealt and the food we were served. I would NOT recommend this place again. read more

We go to Bennetts' specifically for the Calabash shrimp platters, not for the buffet. The portions are generous, and it's rare that the shrimp isn't melt in your mouth perfect. They also have my favorite hush puppies anywhere. The staff is always friendly, and the food comes out promptly even when they are packed. Meh. I expect some level of quality when I pay $30 on a weekday for a buffet. This place had zero quality. Everything on the bar was a deep fried mess. The calamari was chunked together and some pieces were simply deep-fried flour and no squid. It was very similar to things you would see on Chef Ramsay's Kitchen nightmares. There was a wide variety of seafood, but there was way too much tilapia. I'm not interested in a bottom feeding fish. They probably had three to four different tilapia items and only two to three other fish items. The crab cakes were deep fried and not like you would get at a good restaurant. The jambalaya looked old. The buffalo shrimp was good but cold and the crab claws weren't cracked. You had to ask for hot butter and extra plates. You are really better off going somewhere else for seafood, even a Red Lobster. Hell, hotels in Atlanta and Las Vegas have served me better seafood so proximity means nothing. This was our first stop as we came into the Myrtle Beach area. Hungry and thirsty, we were thrilled to meet up with Tammi's daughter and baby granddaughter. However, this place left much to be desired. The decor looked a bit worn and dated and the food was not much better. Most of the dishes were bland or not delicious. While vacationing at Sunset Beach (September 2014), my family decided to visit the Myrtle Beach area to try out a buffet. We had had much luck when we tried the Giant Crab buffet nearby and hoped that we would receive the same level of quality and service. We were sadly mistaken. We were seated and gave our drink order to Miles, our server. Miles was also to bring us silverware, the device to crack open crab legs and butter to be used for various buffet items. I found it puzzling as to why you could not just go up and get your own butter from the buffet. We visited the buffet and figured that by the time that we returned, that we would have our missing items. If you have never been through a huge buffet with a four-year old, be advised that he had more than enough time to get us these things while we meandered around the large dining room. My husband came back to the table with crab legs and was trying to crack them open without the use of the "crab cracker." It was pretty amusing, to say the least. I had gotten a steak, but was unable to eat it without a knife and fork. I guess I could have just eaten it like a caveman, but there were other people nearby. After about 10-15 minutes, we had to ask for a manager, as our waiter was MIA and we still didn't have butter/silverware. The manager spoke to us in such a way that indicated that he was not at all interested in resolving the issue. He seemed kind of annoyed that he was talking to us in the first place. He then informed us that Miles had walked off the job and would not be returning to our table. He assigned another waitress to our table and she did her best for the duration of our visit. On to the food ~ it was just awful. My steak had gotten cold by the time we received our silverware, so I went to the buffet to get another one. It was flavorless and dry. I had also gotten a baked potato. I don't know how it is possible to screw that up, but it was a rubbery mess. A lot of the items on the buffet were deep fried and just didn't taste good, at all. For $30 a person for this buffet, I expected much more. I will not return to this establishment. read more

Stopped by here a few weeks ago since we had a coupon. My family lives in Myrtle Beach half of the year and haven't tried this buffet. I would rate it as mediocre at best- the selection was fair but seems overpriced for the amount you have to pick from. I personally love crab legs and had my fair share. My parents don't necessarily like crab legs and their buffet prices were the same as mine- which is why they found it to be highly priced. My mom tried the prime rib and wasn't thrilled. I had to ask for butter for my crab legs since it was not out for me to serve myself- so I had to hunt down the waitress to get what I needed before I could eat my food. The dessert selection was also fair and the peach cobbler was really thin and watery. The waitress gave us our bill and I needed to break a $20 bill, I couldn't find anyone to help me so I went up to the counter to see about someone giving me change. The guy who was sitting at the counter told me that he didn't have a way to open the register and asked my waitress, who happened to be standing right there, "can you get her change?" Kind of snippy she said "I'll be back to your table in a second." So, I started to walk away and she's like "ma'am just come back over here I'll give you the change." I can't say that I was thrilled with the food OR service, so, I probably won't be back. What do you get for $32 per person at Bennett's Calabash? What you get is a clichéd atmosphere, a musty smell in the air, and horrible food. My family is seafood lovers and while my pre-teen loved the "all-you-can-eat" aspect of the buffet, the food all felt like it rolled off the Sysco food truck and fried. I had hoped for more and Bennett's severely under delivered. The food was tough, cold, and tasteless. They even screwed up the prime rib. The best thing Bennett's served was the banana pudding, and even that was so-so. Within a block of this place is Bimini's (seafood) which had better food and was a faction of the cost. read more

Went there on vacation with my friends and we all loved it. I'm sure we over stayed our welcome but there was too much food not to try almost everything. Crab legs were always available when I went up for more. I was even to make my own seafood pasta which I thought was pretty cool. Amazing! Worth the money! We couldn't believe how reasonable the buffet was (27.19/adult 4.99/child under 5) and delicious. Great variety of both seafood and country cooking (try the BBQ meatballs and sausage). It was even agreeable with our picky three year old. We couldn't believe how rude some of the patrons were to the employees (specifically the really sweet hostesses and servers) but were impressed how calm, cool and professional the staff handled each situation! Every year when I come to Myrtle Beach with my family we always visit this Bennetts Seafood. Crablegs are always fresh, hot and tasty. Fried oysters, which my wife ordered from menu were really delicious. They have extremely friendly staff - our waitress was very attentive to us and we get a free picture from photographer. Price wasn't so expensive, we came during Happy Hour, and they gave us 6$ off each buffet. Highly recommend this place!!! read more
