I'm not really into seafood boil spots, so I'll judge from what I had my New England lobster roll and fries. me and my friend enjoyed our appetizer of pan seared scallops though, very good. The roll wasn't bad my only complaint was the bun wasn't toasted so all the mayo from the lobster portion just soaked all in the bun so it was a soggy mess I ended up just eating the lobster part out of it but that was delicious. I had the fries and the fries were very mediocre very thin no potato in it and no flavor the sauce that came along was the only thing to save it. My friend enjoyed her meal so I 4 stars. If it was just based on mine 3 but I do take into consideration I had two appetizers and they specialize in the seafood boils. Had a reservation for 1pm for party of 8. Place was closed (open at 1pm) with literally nobody inside. Waited till 1:30 until kitchen staff showed up to open. One day we popped in and we were seated quickly from pleasant front staff and were given two options upstairs or downstairs. We went up. It was really nice, with a little outdoor seating option for warm nights/days. Our waitress was great. The food was good and everything was priced reasonably. This place must have formerly been one of those "fancy" sushi places- now a Cajun crab-boil spot.. None of the food came out together, though that's how we specifically ordered it. Service was slow. Tables were sticky. Flies buzzing around our heads. AND blasting trap music at 7pm on a Wednesday night. Gratuity was included without a word from the server or a note on the menu. I went to this restaurant for a graduation dinner and I have to say , the seafood was very old . My husband had the lobster roll and the lobster was so old that you can see the discoloration. Hidden seafood gem in Nassau County, Long Island! My husband is a self proclaimed foodie and is so particular that our restaurant choices are limited lol. We were in the mood for seafood so we googled places near us and found Ben's Crab less than 15 min from our home. We were here this past Saturday evening and were very pleasantly surprised. We shared seafood combos of King Crab and Shrimp and Snow Crab and Shrimp plus some sides. Everything was tasty, fresh and filling. Service from beginning to end was attentive. For us another major plus was that they had hip hop music playing so it felt like we were in a lounge enjoying good food and drinks on a Saturday night. My only comment to change anything was that they did not ask us if we wanted dessert and just brought out the check once the table was cleared. Wow, what a waste of my good money! Ordered classic lobster rolls and crab cakes from this place, which has the appearance of 90's catering hall that's hurting for business. I'll get right to it: the lobster was completely overcooked and all I could taste was the bay seasoning. If I had been blindfolded I would not have been able to identify the type of animal I was reluctantly eating (I only consumed part of it, by the way. Too gross to finish). The crab cakes were no better. They should be called bread crumb cakes. I took one small bite and pushed the remainder of the serving to the middle of the table. Whew, where to start. This my first review and unfortunately it is not a good one. To be clear, Ben's crab is not it. As someone in my group said "they couldnt get the butter right" in regards to the multiple "Sauces" that coat any of your entrees. Their sauces are made up of melted butter and thick creamy garlic that just feels gluttonous. You can also make your entrees "Spicy" which seems to mean a sh*t ton of hot sauce. I understand that it is hard to make buttery garlic-y seafood sound like a bad thing; but trust me, at this place, they somehow made it into a bad thing. If you've had high quality fresh seafood, you'd easily see that the food at this place is smothered or fried to hide how low-quality their seafood is. The atmosphere is conducive to drinking and party, so I could see how for some people this could be a great time. Worse than red lobster because at least at red lobster you get biscuits. The food and drinks were actually pretty good. I did have an issue with the fact that they didn't have any snow crabs, and didn't inform us until it was a request. The staff was very welcoming and service was pretty good. I also didn't like the fact that they used plastic utensils, it didn't match the decor. I also felt that if you didn't get a combo entree that you were overcharged, cause "main" dishes were served by themselves and you had to order side dishes separate.
