Double-Double $5.65
Erik G.

In-N-Out is the gold standard for great-tasting food at affordable prices. Whenever someone recommends a great burger joint, I always compare it to In-N-Out. A Double-Double animal style is one of the most satisfying things there is and has never let me down. I've had In-N-Out in other states, and surprisingly, the quality is always the same. People will let you down, but In-N-Out never does. The caramelized grilled onions really elevate the flavor, and their Thousand Island spread is some of the best around. Stick to the burgers, and you can't go wrong. I'd rather get a second burger than eat the fries, but that's just my personal preference. I really enjoy their Neapolitan shake, and I often order it when I'm in the mood for something sweet. I highly recommend trying it! The service was top-notch. They were generous with the ketchup and spread, and even provided booklets for my kiddo. They managed to serve the food in a reasonable amount of time, even though it was one of the busiest locations I've been to.

Get it with tomato bun. Trust me.

I mean can you say anything bad about in-n-out? Do you have to wait a long time for your food? Yes, but that's always expected and still always worth the wait. My go-to-order is: double double, animal style, raw onions, pickles, tomato bun, add mustard, animal style fries (extra crispy)

Animal fries and a grilled cheese animal style

This location is always busy from being next to the school, but their team moves fast. I've never had a problem finding a table when going in to eat. Food comes out fairly quickly, depending on what you order - I just my food animal style so it typically takes longer than my friends who get something with no modifications. The location stays consistent - good fries, bun is toasted nicely, and plenty of cheese. The location's design is fun and different from other in n outs around.

This location is very dirty. The bathroom had toilet paper all over the floor and no toilet liner. There is no parking at this location, only street parking. The service was so so, usually the servers are more peppy and nicer. We got the well done fries and it was not crispy, tasted burnt, and some were stuck together. SO SO BURGERING!!

Stopped by the In-N-Out on Gayley St. near UCLA and had a great experience. The service was quick, and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was busy, but the line moved efficiently. The food was fresh and exactly what I ordered. I got two Double-Doubles--one protein style and one regular--along with a vanilla shake. Both burgers were well-made, with the perfect balance of flavors. The lettuce wrap on the protein-style burger was crisp and held everything together well. The shake was smooth and creamy. Everything hit the spot.

UCLA location.

When in California, do as they do. Quality, service, cleanliness with terrific burgers. The Double-Double cheeseburger rules!!!

Cheeseburger animal style. Flying Dutchman whole grilled onion wrapped. Fries.

Clean. Courteous. Friendly. Fast. Delicious. What more is there to say? Got a cheeseburger animal style. And a Flying Dutchman, whole grilled onion wrapped, that I inserted in my cheeseburger animal style. While it was so freaking delicious, it was just too much for me. Skipping dinner now. Fatty.

Faster than usual service! The fries were not cardboard. Got banana peppers on the side which cut some heaviness of the animal style fries. The double cheeseburger was what would you expect from a typical in-n-out burger (or any burger). Would get again. There was a cool "in-n-out" sign inside the restaurant.

I've been going to this In N Out since I was a kid (even when I attended UCLA). If you would have asked me back then In N Out especially this one was a 5/5 sometimes 4/5 on a bad day. But recently it's been 2-3 out of 5. The service is good most of the time however the quality of food has declined. Not only does it seem like they have made their burger portions smaller but fries as well. Soda doesn't taste as good anymore. Plus I asked for animal style fries and this is what I got barely any spread and half of it is stuck to the box. As someone who loves In N Out hopefully this isn't a constant.

I don't know what it is with this location but I have issues all the time when I come here. My biggest gripe is that they never have enough lettuce. I legit have gotten one tiny leaf of lettuce if I don't ask for extra lettuce. My most recent visit I asked for extra lettuce and they gave me the bitter part of the lettuce lmao I can't win :(

I love it here.

This is my 8th LA smash burger and it's definitely a top three contender! The ratios were on point. The lemon pepper fries were killer. Great outdoor seating in a bar next door with its own brewery. They have a deal going so you can use that place. Sat in a cool outdoor patio area with fake grass and a nice fence. Nice shade. Parking: Street parking was super easy on a Sunday afternoon, I was able to pull up right in front and park on the street. There is a Super A across the street and ample parking around for free. Ambiance & Food: This reminds me of an old school burger stand. Those were the best burgers and this one did not stop that trend. As I walked up, we were warmly greeted and given a quick rundown of what which burger. They did have specials (I will get to that in a second) which we were intrigued, but for the sake of perspective, I ordered the Goldburger and both regular fries and curly fries with a bottle coke. The Goldburger is naturally a double, but my gymrat protein brain added that extra patty. They use a 70% to 30% mixture for their burger which makes the burger oh so decadent. The picture I took doesn't do it justice. The moment you bite into the burger the combination of burger juice, aioli, burnt skirt, all come together in such a harmonious fashion. It was remarkable. Though fries are not one of my strong points, both fries were crispy and I haven't had any other experience with Curly fries other than Jack in the Box, but these were so much better. I went ahead and dipped the fries in some homemade Aioli and dang, what a combo! Back to those specials, the current special is CHILI, I was intrigued so they gave me a small container of it to try. Man, if I wasn't watching my caloric intake, that would have been the move. It was rich and chunky and not to soggy which some always comes. Give it a try as they said it will be around for sometime. Other than burgers, they do have hot dogs as well. So worth trying both next time. To be perfectly honest, this brought back so much nostalgia for me, I used to go to school in the area and this brought a lot of those memories back. Tasty burgers and a must try for sure if your around! Cheers!

Howlin' Ray's is there too... but I don't care. ‍ Yes, they have smash burgers here, but I don't really think of Amboy as a smash burger place. It's the thicker burgers that keep bringing me back. Also, don't plan your entire trip around getting The DH because they don't always have it. This was my second visit and once again it wasn't available, so we ended up getting the Amboy and the Fancy, both Slim Thicc style. The seating situation is the only real downside. On weekends people end up eating all over the plaza--around the trees, on benches, basically wherever they can find a place to sit. Weekdays are definitely the move if you can make it. One thing to know before you get in line: people take their sweet time ordering here, and honestly I get it because everything sounds good. Just bring a little patience. The only thing I wish they'd asked was how I wanted my burger cooked. They asked what thickness I wanted but not the temperature. I'm always happy when a burger place asks if I want medium rare, medium, whatever. Next time I'll probably just tell them I want it medium rare. The burgers though? Fantastic. Especially if you're like me and getting a little burned out on every new place opening another expensive smash burger spot. One warning though... Don't plan anything after eating here. I happened to be in the area, and even though I'd already eaten, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to finally drop in. Irv's originally opened in 1946 as Queen's Burgers, located right on Route 66 on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo, and was deeply ingrained in LA's historic car culture. In 1970, Irv Genis bought the stand and renamed it Irv's Burgers, and it quickly became a legendary late-night spot for rock icons like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. I still love that classic roadside burger stand aesthetic with the outdoor stools, but unfortunately, I won't be in a rush to head back.
