Old trying to be new a few remodeled rooms, but once they have been a Best Western for year and years, paint really doesn't fix it....rooms are small, 2 double beds for a family of 4? We stayed at the Virage - room 173 the night of December 28, 2020. Both the Bentley and Virage boast updated hotels. We had stayed at this location 3 years ago and even with all of the construction- it was clean and pleasant. Unfortunately as you can see in photos, the room is in dire need of repairs. The beds were hard as rocks. The pillows uncomfortable. The room temperature could not be regulated and there was a dehumidifier in the room too - so obviously there is an issue with water damage. As a travel agent I will not recommend this location. No one has responded to my concerns from the hotel. The front desk person didn't Have much to say or any authority. The girl at check in was disinterested. The woman working breakfast were very friendly and attentive but unfortunately the food was not very good. read more

The hotel website gives one a much more upscale impression than the actual hotel. "Boutique" is a real stretch. I would say my main issue is that it holds itself out as a luxury hotel and it is more of a nice travel lodge. The front entrance starts off with awkward paths and steep uneven ramps to navigate one's suitcase around. Once you've made it to the lobby you've experienced the grandest part of your stay. Front desk staff were a mix of the inexperienced and older, grumpier staff decidedly intent on belittling the inexperienced one. Rooms are clean, but are a mixed bag of piecemeal updates. Decor definitely not as pictured on the website. Old style floral bed covers. Very old vertical blinds that did not close (which was amazing at 2am with the street light streaming in), small and cramped bedroom area. Odd paintings hung upside down (not sure if this was a decorative choice?). Bathroom & shower in particular were the only saving grace of this hotel. While the bathroom is pretty cramped and the only storage area to speak of is something highly reminiscent of a built in wine rack, the tile walk-in shower was roomy and had fantastic water pressure. Honestly, it was the only reason for the second star. Apparently there is an on-site bar/restaurant but it wasn't open on the day we visited (it was a national holiday). We were forced to hunt out their vending machines. These too were low on stock and what was available was very stale. Breakfast was...underwhelming. Firstly you're made to wear neon wristbands to make sure you're not stealing the free breakfast. Not sure the rate of people sneaking onsite to pilfer this dazzling array of greasy sausage, microwaved omelet, and weird machine-dispensed yogurt. Nice family atmosphere, Cutely decorated, rooms are spacious and comfortable a great value for your buck. Breakfast, Internet and parking are included but what was a pleasant surprise was to have daily live music by the pool, the food and drinks were really good. As a place to sleep, it's great. Had no complaints. Bed super comfy. Bathroom clean and spacious. The decor was reminiscent of the W, only a lot cleaner here. Noise was minimal. Price was great. Ordered from Priceline and got two nights for under $80 per night. The hotel is about 7 miles away from Siesta Key Beach. They have a shuttle to the beach as well. Continental breakfast was included. You can get a McMuffin knock-off that is handmade in their cafe. On just these things, it's a solid-A-OK. The place does have a pool and a nightclub. I did not bother with the pool since I was their for the beach. The biggest issue I had was the "nightclub", which is really a pre-function area to their ballroom. It has a DJ, smoke machine, and a bar. The liquor prices are steep and beer selection is limited to red can or blue can. There is no dress code. The club seems like a good idea, but it needs more work. Defiantly a better bar that does not have ants in the liquor (i.e., if you do go and do order a drink, make sure to check the cup first (ants were said to have been in the vodka bottle itself and not the cups)). Yeah, otherwise if you DON'T do the nightclub, and just use the place a place to sleep and go to Siesta Key Beach, then I would recommend it as it is good comfort and convenience at a pretty decent price, relative to other hotels in the area which started out at $110+ and up a night. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a weekend away on a "Staycation". (I know, I know, I'm lucky!) This place is beautiful! I was told there was a fire at one time, and that they had to redo the majority of the hotel, but you wouldn't be able to tell, really. The room we stayed in had a king sized bed, a nice sized TV, and was incredibly clean! Cleanliness is my favorite thing in a hotel! They held $50 or so from our card. They said that we could go down to the tiki bar and buy drinks and have it charged to the room, which would be covered by that $50. I thought that was pretty cool! No need to bring my purse! The pool was big, though there weren't many people in it all weekend. It was surrounded by cabanas though! I plan on returning soon! read more

The room with the 2 beds was good. The beds were small but the comfort made up for that. Tv was modern, bought a HDMI cord to plug a laptop into it. The tv has a DVD in it. The bathroom was just devine. The shower was really good. Good hair dryer. Everything top rated. The free breakfast was really good. They have a business center, great looking deck and pool with a tiki bar. $2 margaritas from 4-7pm. Only thing I would recommend is wait until the hotel is fully done. We loved our stay at this hotel. Definitely not in the tourist area of Siesta, which is definitely a plus. The room prices are high, but the atmosphere and decor of the hotel deserve it. The service is excellent and the food exquisite. Also I have to stress that the pool area and the Tiki Bar are beautiful. The Cabanas are super posh and you can spend all day enjoying the beautiful pool area. I am doing a separate review for the Tiki Bar , We were given a great room with views to the pool. Their bed linens are very classy and the bed super comfortable. Very attentive service . Evidently they are continuously renovating and the pool furniture looked like it had been changed recently. The rooms looked great. The beds were comfortable. The toilet was so tiny and had issues slushing. I hated the shower. I don't think the people that have reviewed this place actually stayed here. Or they don't have any concept of what a "nice" or "luxury" hotel is. Bentley's isn't even close. The highlights of my stay: the first room we stayed in smelled like wet dog and mildew. There were more than 10 flies in the bathroom that multiplied like bunnies. The restaurant didn't serve us after 20 minutes of sitting there STARING at the waitresses. There were only blinds in the room. There were very few channels to chose from on the TV. I will definitely not be returning. You guys who think this place is amazing, need to up your standards. I'm updating this because when we checked out, we asked her about the Yelp discount and the girl who checked us out was confused and didn't know what we were talking about. When I showed it to her, she said she had no idea and would have to call the manager. Modern sleek, w/an unpractical design:( First, you can see right into the room at night, because there are not drapes to close, only micro blinds, which had gaps on both sides. The outside lights shined into the room at night, which made it hard to fall asleep. Two, the lighting sucked. Had to put my make up on with the flashlight app on my phone. Three, couldn't do make up in bathroom because there were not exhaust fan to clear out steam. Four, the shower design was stupid. You had to be inside the shower to turn the shower on. There were no towel racks close to shower, so you had to walk across the floor to get to towel to dry off making the floor very wet. Also, the temp of the water had a long delay, therefor, you get scalded while waiting for it cool down. Five, the bedding was gorgeous and yet very scratchy:( Looked good, felt terrible! read more

Of course all motels, hotels and the like along the Tamiami Trail are tourist crowed, transit places, but for service, especially pool side and bar service, this is one of those that just simply doesn't cut the grade. Its staff seems rather indifferent, outside pool and bar arrangement, and Morgan's Restaurant rather hokey and somewhat mawkishly contrived. Getting from one place to another an exasperation of safety gates (I suppose necessary for pool and child safety), doors that lock behind you and closed off areas giving you the feeling that you've arrived after the party has ended. read more

Stayed here over the weekend of August 2nd, 2014. Found the hotel on Orbitz, which is where I would start for bottom-basement prices. I think we got in for something like $110 per night. For the quality of the room, facilities, and location, this was a great price. The whole place, rooms and all, is completely updated and very modern. The pool was nice as well, though it got very crowded in the evening. Drinks at the Tiki were good, but a little pricey at $7 apiece. I left here with very little to complain about. There is something very British going on here. Definitely heard some Birmingham accents, which is always a delight. As for the location, that is probably the main drawback. It's not quite on the beach, but close. Not quite in town, but close. I will gladly take an off-the-beach hotel with great facilities and a good price. Free breakfast. It was good, not mind-blowing; a step up from continental, with hard boiled eggs and various juices as well as your usual offerings. For the price, I would definitely stay here again and recommend Bentley's most highly. read more

I checked into my room and there was a terrible smell of old wet carpet. Half the room had the carpet soaking wet. The sink was sainted, the shower was stained, the drawers were stained. I called the front and maintenance never showed up, my room was not changed, no one tried to fit it or even make the terrible experience somewhat better. My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The service was very pleasant. We booked our stay on hotels.com based on reviews and its proximity to siesta key. We actually hooked a room at their hotel behind the main one but at check in we were told we'd be upgraded to the Bentley hotel. The room was nicely decorated. All that was missing was better cable and a microwave, what good is a fridge for food without a microwave to heat it up? The TV received about 10 channels and none were very not sharp images. The room offers organic toiletries which I loved very much. I asked for a couple more since it worked well with my eczema and they gladly gave it to me. The complimentary breakfast was awesome, far better than the ones we received at other hotels during this vacation. Even if we had to pay for the breakfast it'd be worth it. Only $6.99 per person and they were big portion sizes. I'm excited to visit this area again someday and stay here. read more

I forgot to take pictures but this is a great place ! Check in was smooth and quick. The rooms are very nice and clean. I was a bit disappointed they were only double beds but they were comfortable. My son was sleeping in a sleeping bag on the floor and after the first night the staff left him a comfortable blanket and even made his makeshift bed. . The food at the main restaurant was great. We had pizza and burgers. All staff were very friendly. Live music by the pool was great. They have free continental breakfast also by the pool. All in all i highly recommend. read more

I love this hotel! Neat, clean with good stuff. We stayed there for 4 nights and it was great! Our room was on a first floor with a pool view and balcony. The pool was good and deep; Tiki bar was nice(the most we liked hot dogs and brownies); Room was fresh and comfy(only one thing was missing is microwave in the room, but it's was in the adjacent building); Breakfast was fine(only bagels were little hard, but it was the best fresh orange juice I've ever tasted). Positives: The pool was a lot of fun for the family. The room was clean. Checking in and out was painless. The bartender is nice and makes great drinks. There is a good selection for the continental breakfast. Poolside cabanas were available, which was great to be able to keep a baby out all day and have shade. Negatives: We called ahead to inquire if they provided pack n plays and sheets. They said that they would leave it in the room for us. Upon arrival, there was no pack n play or sheets. We attempted to call the front desk, but the phone wasn't working and half of the outlets were dead. We called from our cell phone and they brought us a pack n play. We set up the pack n play and realized it was broken. It also still had no sheets. We had an hour and a half to go before the pool and tiki bar closed the night we checked in. We decided to hang at the pool and order drinks and snacks and enjoy the live music for a little bit. The family jumped in the pool and I went to the bar to order. One bartender and two cooks for only about 25 people at the pool total (only about 10 people at the bar) and I stood at the bar for the entire hour and a half to get two drinks and a basket of fries. We had to take everything to the room because it closed by the time we got it. When it came to checking out, check out is 11am. At 830am a cleaning lady knocked once and walked right into our room without a second warning or calling in first and asked when we were leaving. We told her we were checking out at 11. At 1030am, we packed up our stuff and headed to the car and then planned on coming right back to the room to get the leftovers and drinks from the fridge. We walked right out to the car and back to the room within 3 minutes at most. The same cleaning lady was already in our room and threw out all of our stuff from the fridge, including our leftover food from our $150 meal the night before. That being said, we had a great weekend as a family together and we made so many fun memories at the pool during the day. None of this ruined anything, however the hotel sure had it's disappointing moments. read more

What a sweet hidden gem. My boyfriend and I stayed at Bentley's Boutique Hotel last April for one night on a getaway to Venice. We had booked the hotel using Groupon, so the rate was very reasonable. I'm not sure what their regular rates are, but I can tell you: they are probably worth it. The hotel looks very 80s, but it's definitely been renovated inside... for the better! The hotel room was beautiful. There isn't a much view outside (no balcony or anything) but it didn't matter to us. We booked a room with a king sized bed. It was so comfy and clean. There is a huge mirror on the wall next to the bed, which is such an interesting touch. The bathroom was beautiful. The shower was completely glass. Amazing. Definitely not expecting that. There is a pool outside for guests to enjoy. It was very busy when we stopped by, but it was nice to see people enjoying themselves out to the pool. I think it would be fun to stop by on a hot day when it's too hot to be on the beach. Check in and out was totally easy. It was a pleasure staying here and we would definitely do it again. read more

We had a great getaway weekend at Bentley's. The trick is to stay at Bentley's proper (NOT the weird Virage building in back) and pay the extra few bucks for a ground floor room with a patio opening onto the pool area. We went to Total Wine, stocked up the fridge, and had an amazing pool party weekend. The pool was definitely the focal point of our stay. If you are super picky about other amenities (e.g. restaurant, fitness center), you might have a lower opinion. As other reviewers mentioned, the rooms do not have blackout curtains. We also noticed that the shower was not really clean. Other than that, the room was comfortable. Our patio neighbors were friendly, and the tiki bar provided a festive atmosphere. There were some oddities with the service. When we checked in, the front desk clerk said there was a free continental breakfast included. When we came down for breakfast, a woman working at Morgan's Restaurant told us the free breakfast was in the Virage building. However, the Virage was deserted, no food or staff in sight. The front desk gave us free breakfast vouchers for Morgan's as a result of this mix-up. We used those the following day, and found the breakfast to be tasty but slow. Most importantly, it was free since we had those vouchers:). We tried Morgan's prime rib for dinner at the recommendation of another guest. It was okay, not amazing. There was live music (piano) and we had good service from Kent the waiter. Overall, we had a relaxing tropical getaway and would definitely come back for a ground-level poolside room. read more

We went for dinner, drinks and a comedy show. Only one suggestion we can make to management; upgrade your menu appearance, it was a little shoddy for the impression you are after at the boutique hotel. We were very pleased we selected this place for our evening of dinner, drinks and show. We arrived at 5:45, we had dinner and drinks (when you arrive, you have an inside dining room and an outdoor Tiki Bar to choose from). We went outside and were lucky to have Leo (his customer service skills are excellent) as both our bartender and server. We went to the comedy show at 7:00 PM and laughed a lot; comedian 1 was OK (a man obviously practicing his lines), comedian 2 (she was original and very funny) was spectacular; comedian headliner was making me laugh so hard I cried (he was seamless, hilarious and professional). After the show we went back to the Tiki Bar for a night cap, we left at a little after midnight. We will be back and we highly recommend this hotel for dinner and drinks. Future dinner,drinks and comedy shows will be on our calendar at this location. We suggest you try it out too! read more

My girlfriends and I stayed here for a girls weekend and I must say... It was fabulous! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautiful and clean!! The pool was amazing especially at night. If you stay in the back THE VIRAGE you get free breakfast and it was delicious and large. Our waitress was the sweetest lady. Across the street is a national park so we went kayaking. It was only $10.70 an hour! I give this place 5 stars! I would definitely recommend to stay here! read more

Fabulous, clean, inexpensive hotel! We had a 2nd floor pool view room which was surprisingly quiet given all the activity at the pool. Fantastic saltwater pool and plenty of lounge chairs and tables (you will get tired of beach sand and sun) to chill out. We had the free breakfast just once. It could be better. Only other complaint is that the rooms have only verticle blinds that do not block light. Great location to hit the beaches a little North or a little South. This is the 3rd and last time we will be staying here. It was such an awesome place. It obviously changed owners and its now a dump..at checkin the clerk told me 3 of my CC cards were declined. She ruined my day. I called the banks and was told there was nothing wrong with my cards. She was obviously typing in something wrong. Making me look foolish. Now onto the room. There were cigarette butts on the hallway floor .the room was incredibly warm. And they had no fans ..the tiki bar was filthy. Bar top was sticky. Not a single person was wiping down anything. Guests were not a priority. I didnt want to touch an entranceway. The gates were black. Obviously even during covid nobody is cleaning..the breakfast was 1/2 hr later then we were told. No coffee until 8am..was given a drop of eggs. And 1 piece of sausage. It was pathetic. And they advertise breakfast buffet. No juice or milk..its not what it was a few years ago. If you are looking for a trashy motel. You found it in the Bentley. Disgusting dirty dingy smelly..Awful! read more

Great little hotel.. a little off the beaten path. 1/2 way between Nokomis Beach and Siesta Key on a busy road so there's no walking to and from other places. Very well done renovation. Had that 80s feel with modern appointments. Tiki bar was ok for an end of the night drink or if you just wanted time to yourselves (as a couple)... not super "fun." The pool and lounge area was AWESOME. The pool water temp was perfect and thwre were plenty of places to sit and different options. read more

I can't say anything bad about this place.. Stood here last night and I would come back. Rooms were very modern and clean. The bathroom is HUGE and very nice with a big glass walk in showered. Free wifi and free breakfast in the morning. I didn't get the pancakes or french toast but I saw them go by me and there was a lot of food and they both looked good. Bentley's is in a former Ramada Hotel location but literally tore down most of the old buildings and created a very mice South Trail unique hotel. Managed and run by a transplanted family from England, Bentley's features an outside tiki bar by the pool (occasionally with live entertainment), an indoor restaurant serving breakfast, lunch & dinner, & a lobby bar in front of the registration desk. The rooms in the main hotel have individual English places of interest names in addition to the room number. Also, the restaurant menu features several British items as well. This is a far cry from the former Ramada which was a very poor hotel. Kudos for the year down and remodel into a great place to stay or visit. read more
