The room was fairly clean (I sanitise everything before I touch anything), water pressure is mid, so it takes a bit to get the shampoo out, and reception staff were quite friendly. It is more expensive than even the nicer Orlando area H2S, and being older and next to a freeway, I'm not sure why-so the value is lacking. But my real complaint is the loo rolls. The "toilet paper" was so thin yet stiff that it crunched when you collected it. I had to run to Publix for loo roll. Seriously. Ouch.

The front desk staff was welcoming upon check in and gave me a $6 coupon for the restaurant that I forgot to use for breakfast and you can't use it on cocktails. The rooms were sparkling clean with more than enough room for my dog's crate and my luggage. The bathrooms were bright and I liked the rainfall shower with awesome water pressure. The location made it really easy to explore the area. There was a really cute dog park only 10 minutes drive away. The water views next to the hotel were also great and nice to stroll in the evening when I arrived and the next morning. I would happily stay here with my dog again.

On fri/sat nights there was a solid crowd using both. I was able to find some secluded areas with hammocks and fire pits, which I appreciated. My room had a spacious and fenced back yard with multiple tables and an umbrella. There is smoking allowed in the yards and a few times I could smell my neighbors cigarettes while outside. Not a huge deal. Stove, kitchen sink, microwave, mini fridge, and tv in my unit as well. Lots of utensils and plates in the cabinets. Only takeaways I could note that keep my review from being a perfect 5 stars - the parking situation is rough. The front lot was always full due to how small it is. The back lot is unpaved and shared with the public tiki bar. Tight lanes and cramped spaces that are flooded with drunk people leaving at night since they aren't staying at the hotel. I didn't feel my car was very safe from scratches/bumps on weekend nights. Also the unpaved lot kicked up lots of dust onto my luggage and shoes, which ended up all over the inside of my car. It's gravelly mud as well so it's stuck to my seats and floor mats. Probably was worse than usual since i was loading my luggage after a night of rain. That being said, the parking was free. So take this relatively menial issue as you will.

There is a gas station right next door within walking distance, and for some reason maybe it was because it was in December, in the morning there was not even five cars in the parking lot, and it seemed like a good chunk of the rooms were being worked on, rebuilt, or remodeled. It came with a small refrigerator and a microwave as well. We had two adjoining rooms which made it nice because each room had a tv and there were three sinks in total. There was also a jacuzzi tub which the kids loved. Housekeeping is available only upon request and we didn't realize that until we checked out. We didn't really need it so that wasn't a huge issue. The one big disappointment was the breakfast. They didn't have a lot of options and the ones that they did have weren't so great. The hands-free pancake maker was cool although it wasn't working the first morning. I would like to see wheat bread (they had bagels and English muffins) and more fruit. They also need to have dairy-free options. I have stayed at other hotels with much better breakfasts. The price was great and the location wasn't bad. I might stay here again although it depends on what the price of the rooms are. If I do stay here, I hope that they improve their breakfast. Oh, and they should provide body wash. Bar soap is fine for washing my hands. They should give out body wash for the shower.

An excellent beachfront getaway…read more On The Beach is literally on the beach. The small cottage-style rooms are within 200 feet of the ocean, but secluded behind palm trees, so neighboring properties do not distract. The rooms themselves are very clean and modern. Simple, but just right. Every room has a fridge, microwave and "kitchen" sink, so it's accommodating for an extended stay. Just note that the fridge is small, so groceries will need to be limited. The bed was very comfortable with tons of pillows. The walk-in shower looked like it was brand new. Plenty of hot water and water pressure to clean off after a day on the beach. To get to the beach, you walk down a short trail that's surrounded by bushes and flowers. The sand is a mixture of white sand and shells. Lounge chairs are provided, in addition to beach towels. If you want a larger, busier beach, take a short walk south and you'll end up at Nokomis Beach. Walk north and you can go for miles without seeing many people at all. That is also a great route if you are looking to collect shells. After your beach day is over, there is a small outdoor shower by the property to rinse off. Each room also has a couple of chairs outside, so you can air dry, if you prefer, before going back inside. The staff (housekeeping and management) have relatively short hours, so you may need to contact the parent property (Bentley Boutique Hotel) to check-in, or if you need other assistance outside of 10:30-5. In terms of a value, find a deal through a 3rd party booker or take advantage of an On The Beach special - either way, I doubt you will be able to find a better beach stay for such an affordable price. The area itself is relatively quiet, but there are a few restaurants within 5-10 minutes. If you need heavier shopping, head north about 20 minutes to hit the city area. Siesta Key is also just over 30 minutes away, depending on traffic. I highly recommend On The Beach and I'll be back the next time I want a beach getaway!

If you don't care what the room looks like and you are just looking for a place to sleep near Siesta Key, this is the place for you. Tides Inn Motel offers value close to Siesta Key. You can stay the whole week here during peek season for around $500. Weekly apartments during peek season range between $750-$810. They have a small pool outside as well. Let me stress again, if you are looking to save money, try Tides Inn Motel. I don't think you will find much cheaper rates so close to Siesta Key. Just remember, you get what you pay for. I'm giving 3 stars because of the value proposition, it is what it is! No Pets Allowed
