I actually really love the food here, especially given the other Japanese options in Gresham. I love their bento boxes, the price is fair and the food is good. Their sushi is good, nothing special but fair quality and taste. I do have trouble keeping up with hours since they are such a small place sometimes they are closed even when the sign out front says they should be open. I never eat there I always get it to go but the staff are always friendly and helpful when I have questions. I recommend it when I have friends in Gresham and none of them have ever had complaints. Its also right by Wal-Mart so I go and get soda while I wait for my takeout order. read more

I tried curry entree and a sushi avocado basic roll, as lunch take out. I realized it's a sit down / sushi bar style place after going, which threw me off because it's in the block with neighborhood Walmart, but it was easy to call in the takeout request. Quality measures up to really skillful Japan comfort food, and it felt like the amount it came with was for serving two. Maybe a bit too little rice, I eat a lot of rice so I'll just order extra next time. Considering what I spent it was an above expectation deliciousness and well fed result. Starvation super resolved. That's what hot food on rice does so amazingly! Few places around here seem to offer this at the full standard I'm used to coming from SLC. Thank you for the delicious curry. read more

For years, love that place, always simple, fair, fresh and delicious. A lightly glazed albacore Nigiri last time blew my mind.

This is my favorite place in Gresham. My partner and I bump heads sometimes between here and soy grill, but when I'm in the mood for delicious SUSHI, I come here. Sure, soy grill's teriyaki is definitely my preference in that particular department, but I CRAVE Bento Plus sushi. It's a three minute drive from our place, so the location, for us, is very convenient. The service is quick and good, and the prices are more than reasonable. I always load up on as much sushi as I can get. When we lived in Clackamas we'd go to Marine Polis Sushiland, which had great sushi but was always so busy. The sushi here, on the opposite end of the Portland metro area, is even a little bit better. It's deliciously fresh and you'll never get a bad piece. The salmon and tuna are divine. YUM! My partner orders the curry dishes and the teriyaki dishes, and her preference here lies with the curry dishes. We've brought friends in who have loved the teriyaki and the ramen bowls. For the price, you definitely can't complain. They're not pushy, they don't rush you, and they're not overtly sugary or kiss-ass in their temperament here. The feel you get is pretty much this: "You're here for some delicious food? Oh, good! We make delicious food! Are you ready to order? Take your time, let me know if you need anything." .... They won't constantly pop in to ask how you're feeling about your food because they can read your countenance and take it for what it is- Satisfied customer. The food is always yummy. The portion sizes are great for the pricing, especially the Bento boxes. The hot tea is always my go to. If you are near by you have to visit. A feel things to keep in mind: 1. It's small so big groups can be hard. 2. The waitress can seem angry. She is really nice, she just knows how to rock rbf. 3. The down side: The rolls we got had way too much mushy pasty mashed up fish in them that they kept in ziplock Tupperware at the bar which was pretty off putting. They also covered the sushi in sauce which made it even more mushy and the sizes were almost too big to put in your mouth. The service was awkward and unwelcoming. Sitting at the bar actually made me uncomfortable. I am use to friendly conversation or at least acknowledgement when sitting in front of the chefs. I think if I didn't see the unappetizing fish in containers or them scooping rice out of an ice cooler (the kind you would take to the beach) that was sitting on a stool I would have been more into it. The plus side: my tempura was cooked to perfection and the chicken katsu was great. Anything we got that was fried was delicious. You could tell the fryer had very clean new oil. The spicy teriyaki was also very good and my sashimi and nigiri was decent enough. read more

Friends were in town and wanted sushi so I yelped and decide to go here since it was close to home. The staff were very friendly. The staff were greeting us every step of the way. There were tons of "welcome" and " thank you" at the beginning and ending of every response and transaction. I didn't know what to expect because I'm not a sushi eater at all, but when the layout came sailing to the table I nearly crap my pants. This place knows a thing or two about presentation as you can see from the pictures I posted. It cause quite a stir at the table. No one talked for the first few minutes because they were too busy stuffing their face. Again I have to say that I'm not a sushi eater, but I know when I'm in the presence of good food. For a second I almost tried a piece. The environment was typical Sushi/Bento/Pho style for the most part. Everything was clean, organized and open. I will definitely become a return customer. read more

Two for early dinner on a Friday. Typical Asian food place in typical little strip mall. We both had Bento boxes which were generously loaded with food. You could split one and save money. That's the only reason anyone would give this place a 5 star. The good: 1. The amount of food you get for the dollar is great. 2. Parking is simple. 3. Prices are very reasonable...especially for Japanese food. 4. Large pieces of fish on all sushi...I mean huge. Completely blanketed the rice ball and then some. 5. Everything arrived fresh and hot. 6. They did try to make the plate presentable. The not so good: 1. Chevron must have stock in this place because of the amount of oil in the tempura. Yes...I know it's deep fried but it was dripping with grease. 2. The breading on the tempura was ridiculously over done. A micro thin piece of zucchini with 8 to 10 times the amount of tempura batter..(no exaggeration, see photo) 3. Sushi is art but the chef was not very skilled. Every piece was different than the other in scope, size, arrangement, and neatness. It was all fresh, fish had no smell, but it was sloppy. 4. Interior is sad and typical. Magazines strewn about the sushi bar, not clean, not dirty...just meh.....whatever. BOTTOM LINE: Great amount of fresh food for the price. A definite bargain. Greasy tempura and sloppy presentation. Good place for a budget conscious patron. Won't go back though...there are a million places just like it everywhere. read more

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant and Im so glad its only ten minutes away from us. The food is always excellent: the tempura is always crisp and not a hint of grease. Their miso soup is my comfort food; heck, its all my comfort food. We eat here a lot, and no matter what we order, its always fabulous. The decor is pleasant to look at, the sushi chefs very friendly , and the restroom is clean. We are always greeted by the chefs and the servers, and always thanked when we leave. Tonight our server was Elizabeth, and she did a terrific job of taking care of us. We will be back again and again. read more

We have been eating here for a couple of years, and while the prices have gone up juuuuust slightly, it's still really cheap. However even if it were more expensive this has to be, fins down, some of the best Japanese food in the Portland area. The owners are a sweet couple. Just be patient with the language barrier as they are always eager to please. The fish is fresh, the chicken teriyaki tender, the tempura crisp, and when it says spicy they mean it... in a good way. And if you've never had a Texas Roll you had better be sporting an appetite and a large mouth. But so worth digging your spurs into! The atmosphere is a bit "kitschy". And the service can sometimes bog down a bit when they're busy, which is often. But hey, the place is hidden in a strip mall across from Mt. Hood Lanes. One can't expect fine dining. But one CAN get amazing food at great prices. That MUST be the Plus. read more

I was very disappointed in the size of sushi roll, I ordered 4 rolls and they were so small I ate one whole roll in two bites. Also I called in and they gave me no time frame they just said they would call but after waiting 40 minutes I called them and the lady said it was ready. I compare it to grocery store sushi they sell in the deli. read more

Well scratch one more Sushi place off the list! Listen, Sushi should be a delicacy and beautiful, not oversize pieces of fish. It is better to serve smaller pieces and better quality. I tried this place a few years ago and I had no desire to go back. We tried it again the other day due to there being a limited amount of sushi in the area and living five minutes away. We got the Portland roll, Philadelphia roll, shrimp roll and enjoyed all of them. We will for sure be making this our go to place near home for sushi. read more

Yes the owners are Koreans and they do a fine job owning and operating a Japanese restaurant, they're food is really good for the price, my favorite place for sushi used to be my old friends place in Sellwood called Saburo's but the price is much higher, the service is same but it's the quality of the fish! Sushi and sashimi served in restaurants are not all same, only few traditional Japanese restaurant owners still purchase "Sashimi Grade" fish from the only supplier in Oregon called United Pacific Corp which is the old Anzen Pacific Corp which is Japanese owned company. No this place does not serve sashimi grade product but your not paying $5 for 2 bites either! According to the owner of United Pacific Corp there is only 4 restaurants in Portland area that purchases the expensive "Sashimi Grade" fish from Japan and they're all Japanese. But, for the price you can't beat the quality of food here and the amount of food for the price! read more

Our favorite sushi place was closed. I still needed my sushi fix. Here works. We got all of our usual suspects and were quite happy on the freshness, as well as the size. They have a pretty good selection of sake as well. I got the cold, dry organic sake and it went down pretty nicely so I ordered another one. It went well with their salmon skin hand rolls. The prices are real decent as well as their large menu full of sushi choices. Might have to start coming here more often. read more

Meh... Had to change my review due to the restaurant changing hands.. I've always liked this place and the sushi is fantastic. It's comparable to Saburos. But the service is ridiculous! There are two servers, a younger girl who seems to only work some times, and an older woman who works all the time. My boyfriend and I love the younger girl, she is upbeat and always ready to assist customers. The older woman however, is very rude, unwelcoming and is just not friendly! My boyfriend and I ordered a calamari, but evidently I pointed to the calamari roll, and she bought me a calamari roll.. When I bought this to her attention that I meant just regular calamari, she got all snippy with me saying that it was my fault cause I pointed to the calamari roll. Fine, my fault. Whatever you know? It's okay. We will still come back. But my boyfriend and I just overheard a woman complain to this very waitress that her yakisoba tasted "sour". And she asked to have rice instead. And I've seen this lady come in various times and she's eaten here with no problems before and obviously if she's says the noodles taste different, they taste different. The older waitress gets into an argument with this lady and takes her food away. The lady wanted a new plate and I guess that's not what they were doing for her cause she just sat there and waited for nothing.. I guess next time we come in, we'll just take our food togo just like a lot of other customers cause literally their customer service is the worst service I've ever received. My family and I love this place the staff is always poles and friendly to us, and the food is excellent. I once called and complained that I got the wrong rolls, they immediately offered to replace them. So I rushed back to show them and pick up the correct rolls, only to discover I was in fact given the correct rolls, I had ORDERED the wrong rolls. We all stood around and had a friendly laugh. Great Take Out! My wife and I wanted some take out sushi for dinner and we had never had their sushi before. We called up and it was ready in 20 min. It was great! Ate here with my brother after leaving the DMV (which is right behind Bento Plus). In short, we loved it! Best value bento box I've had, ever. We were too late for the lunch prices, but even at dinner price, the bento boxes here are an outstanding deal. For 8.95, you get your choice of any bento they have. I got the beef teriyaki box, which included a tuna roll plus tuna nigiri roll, rice, miso soup, salad, pork dumplings, and of course beef teriyaki. Everything was great. The sushi was fresh and made to order, and the teriyaki was DELICIOUS. Sweet and tender and seared and yummy. I just don't know that you can eat this well for 9 bucks anywhere else. Not in a beautiful strip mall, but it's the best fish and the best value/quality/quantity/creativity of sushi we've found anywhere. Seriously, anywhere. Huge pieces of gorgeous fish that are immaculately prepared and at the perfect temperature. Not too much sauce on anything. And the owners are on-site and beyond lovely. The service is 'all business' but that makes it possible to get in and out between kids soccer games. Love, love, love. Am shocked (but grateful) it's way out here. read more
