This location has been bought by Firestone, and this review is not targeting C&C…read more TLDR: This is an incredibly dishonest auto shop, and could have put my family and I at risk due to negligence and deceit. Take your car somewhere else. I went in for an oil change and hadn't had any work done for awhile, so I expected a lot to be uncovered in the inspection. They came back and told me that my brake pads/rotors and struts/shocks needed to be replaced. Specifically they told me the front brake were at less than 4mm and needed to be replaced ASAP, the back brakes were at 5mm and could wait 3 - 4 months, and there were "rust rings" in my rotors so they would also need to be replaced. They quoted me a little over $3,500 for everything. I know a little about cars and have mechanics in the family, so I ran everything by them first. 1) We decided to do the brakes ourselves (my uncle worked at a brake shop). We found that there was no issue with the rotors in what they described as "rust rings". Saved a few bucks there. The front pads were at about 4mm, so they likely did check those. We got to the back brakes, and had to use a sledge hammer to get the tires off (indication that they didn't take them off to check). When we got the pads off there most almost nothing left, and they were about to start grinding the rotors. Another indication that they lied about checking them because there was certainly not 5mm left. 2) I took my car to another shop to have the struts/shocks looked at after realizing the lies this Firestone told about the brakes. I had noticed the cars handling was a bit spongey and bouncy, so seemed like it could be true. The next shop actually test drove the car, and found the issue wasn't the struts/shocks, rather 3/4 tires had broken belts. This Firestone clearly did not check the car thoroughly and lied about the issues I was having to milk me for money. The scariest part about this is that broken tire belts increase the risk for blowouts at high speed. So I could have put $3,500 into my car, and still had something catastrophic occur that could have caused injury to my family, me or someone else. Not much else needs to be said about this business.

They could've gone wild telling me stuff was bad and needed to be replaced, and I'd never have known. Instead, they re-used as much as they could, replaced what couldn't be salvaged, and I was off and on my way. Originally I was a little weary when I took the car in, as they told me they were just going to check the whole car when I started explaining the problem. Usually, you go somewhere that "checks everything" and you walk out with more problems than you came in with. Not the case here, they noted the AC wasn't working, and I was like "Oh, yeah, I don't think it's ever worked." Gabe (I think?) asked if I wanted to risk $20 to try to fix it, and threw a can of freon in just to see what'd happen. Sure enough, ice cold AC. I seriously just love shops like this that have that kind of attitude of "Hey, this isn't working, let's try a super simple fix that doesn't cost much, and see what happens." Again, that's another repair that they probably could've sold me on a new compressor or who knows what else. Overall, a totally pleasant surprise, and I'll be going back to them as long as they're open. How often can you say you took your car to a mechanic and they fixed your problem way faster than you expected for a fraction of what you were thinking you'd have to pay? For me, this is definitely a first.

Got a quick response from the owner (Lou) and was told they were available Monday morning in a two-hour window. Took off work Monday morning to wait for them, nobody came. Called the owner, was told there had been some emergency but they would try to come later that day in the evening. He also increased his initial quote by $50. That evening, received a text from Lou saying none of the staff were available, asking to reschedule. Confirmed a new appointment for Wednesday evening. Wednesday rolls around, I get completely ghosted - no response to texts/calls, and nobody shows up at the appointment time. Got my installation done elsewhere.

I submitted a request for a quote here on Yelp and they were one of the first places to reply. They offered a low price but being mobile made me suspicious we gave them a call. After talking through the issue we were surprised and excited that they could fix the car right where it was. This saved us from having to pay for a tow truck. Also, it was Black Friday and they were able to come to us on Monday morning. We purchased a new starter through Auto Zone (thanks to their Black Friday deal we got 20% off AND free next day delivery!!) The guys arrived 30 mins early!!!! It was amazing how they just lifted up my Honda Civic which had been sitting in my parking lot since Wednesday. It took a few hours but they were able to install the new starter and charge us what they quoted over the phone. We are very happy and impressed! The next time my "city car" (a 2008 Honda Civic) needs something I am definitely going to call Super Mobile Mechanics first.

P & L looked over my car for about an hour and discovered the other company had damaged my oil pan drain plug. They replaced the drain plug and charged me $5.07. Yes, that is Five Dollars and Seven cents. (That includes tax.) There was also the time I bought bad gas and my car kept sputtering. They installed fuel injector cleaner (that time it cost me close to $9.) They have saved me a number of times. Like the time my car would not start when I was in Schaumburg. I refused to have anyone in Schaumburg look at my car, so I had it towed all the way to P & L. (It was just the battery, but the battery was so dead, my car would not even take a jump). P & L only fixes what is necessary, so I usually leave pleasantly surprised as to the cost of the repair. They provide a quote before making any major repairs and they always give the parts back. Except that one time my belt shredded so bad, it looked like string. I did not get the belt back. One thing for sure, they are honest!! If you decide to have them work on your car, call ahead and make an appointment and be prepared to leave the car there. They are a small operation. Sure if you have an emergency (and I have had a few), they will do their best to get you out the same day. I have also waited in their lobby a few times when they were changing the oil. They said no one can properly change your car's oil in a few minutes. An oil change is the time mechanics are suppose to give your car a quick check to make sure everything looks okay. I won't trust my car to anyone else.

The total came to about $53, including taxes, for one tire. They have the highest Google rating in my area--which is why I chose them. I really hope I won't have to go back for the same issue again. I also hope they stand behind their work with a good warranty. So far, I'm very happy with the service--they really deliver prompt and efficient work that meets my needs. Plus, they offer some of the most generous complimentary snacks and beverages, which I definitely took advantage of during my visit.
