Per recommendation of our Airbnb hosts, we got brunch at Berardi's before leaving town. Funny enough, our friends were at the Berardi's in South Sandusky at the same time. I ordered the tuna salad croissant with fries since the menu touted that the fries are where it all started. They were good! Very thick cut. My boyfriend ordered the "Homefry Heaven," aka biscuits and gravy. It was delicious! Now I get the hype about biscuits and gravy. I think the food is somewhere between a 3 and 4. It's pretty basic, but that's why you come. I dined with my mom and grandma, and his is clearly a place popular with the older crowd. We started with the Berardi's sampler, which has onion rings, mozz sticks, sauerkraut balls, and fries. They were pretty stingy with the rings (4 small ones) and the sauerkraut balls, which were my fave. The price was fair, though - only 8.99. Next time I'd just order the onion rings and sauerkraut balls separately, as the mozz sticks were nothing special and most meals come with the fries. I had the perch dinner, and would go elsewhere for this next time I'm in town. The fish was not as tender and flaky as I've had in the past, and the tarter sauce was low quality. Also, the dinner is one of the most expensive items in the menu, but my side of fries was a smaller portion than what was on the appetizer sampler. Berardi's is very close to where my mom lives and I know she is a frequent visitor. I might come back and get sauerkraut balls and try a burger or sandwich, but it would mostly be for the convenient location. read more

After reading several rave reviews for this restaurant on Yelp, we took our four children here for dinner. We were in town for Cedar Point and staying at Hampton Inn in Milan, which is about five miles from Berardi's. How wonderful to discover a clean, modern family restaurant with outstanding food and service. They have a lovely coffee bar and bakery counter for those just passing through, but for those of us fortunate enough to linger over dinner, a humble feast born of fresh local food and apparently much thoughtful preparation will be served with warmth, and by warmth I refer to more than general friendliness. These folks are obviously passionate about their beloved eatery, given the lovely deliciousness of their food, and they're just downright sincere about serving it with happy hearts. Oh yes, and the warmth...this food was so fresh, so hot, so satisfying, so savory, so clean and organic,(all local, by the way), I was shocked to find such reasonable prices. My experience with dining out these days is arriving to a not-truly-clean table after a long wait, ordering from predictable menus, and eating boring food that suggests it was almost enough to satisfy, only to pay like I ate at an elegant bistro, on top of which I'm expected to tip grandly my dispassionate server. Makes me want to stay home and have a BLT. Not so at Berardi's; if you're in the area, this is the place to eat. Enthusiasm is the word that comes to mind when I recall my experience with them. Lovers of food and family, they are. Even the decor reveals their OCD with quality, with sleek modern floors, circular hanging lights lovingly wrapped in burlap, and lights glowing softly like candles. It's not a quiet little corner, cozy as it may be. Families of all sizes filled the main room with a happy vibe. There is also a small area sectioned off in the back where a more subtle, charming atmosphere presents a gorgeous, hand painted coastal mural. My husband ordered Lemon Wine Halibut, gently grilled and seasoned and holy cowbells was it magnificent. I devoured the Eggplant Marinara...I was home again, although the spaghetti noodles were over boiled, but no matter; I'd have eaten my dog's kibble if it had that gloriously simple marinara on it. Besides, it would be too weird if everything was perfect. This sweet little well-loved place comes mighty close, though. Eat here. Trust me...you'll love it. read more

We happened to be in here on for a soccer tournament and Berardi's came to us on the suggestion of a family member. The place was busy but not nearly as busy as some of the other restaurants closer to the soccer tournament. Which kind of made me wonder why the service was kind of slow. And it seems like we had a couple different servers, maybe one to pour the coffee one to bring the food and then a third person Davis refills. Maybe it was some sort of Team event. I had eggs bacon and wheat toast, I know real creative. And you figure you can't screw this up which is true, and Vista Grill plate was for 2 eggs scrambled and I got would appear to be about three quarters of an egg. The serving wasn't really that generous at all for close to 7 Bucks. It was good none the less. My kids had pancakes my wife had a pumpkin pancake would she raved about. Overall it's a solid 4 star. I did forget to mention that the hash browns are actually hash browns in the traditional sense, what they are is mashed potatoes that are fried on the grill which were delicious but just not what I was expecting. read more

You cannot beat this place for consistently good breakfast. Omelettes and pancakes are perfect every time. We also came for dinner one night and I would recommend the lasagna. Everything here is homemade, which is a bonus in my opinion. I had the pearch & my sister had the roast beef sandwich, great comfort food. I also got the creamy oinion soup, out of this world. Our server was super helpful too & soooo friendly and nice. She gave us cookies to take with us just because it was our first time. The restaurant was clean & nothing fancy, but they also have beer & wine, a nice bonus. Great kids menu as well. I highly recommend if ever in this area. What a truly great restaurant! I'm a huge fan of professionally and proudly run 'mom and pop' eateries, and Berardi's is no exception! Our friends had been ranting and raving about this place, so they took us here for lunch recently, even though we drove more than half an hour to get there. The large booths in the back were roomy and comfortable for our party of 5, and the atmosphere cozy. Everyone left super happy. The tuna salad on a toasted croissant was utterly fantastic! Easily the most flavorful tuna salad i've ever had. Their homecut, thick fries were the best i've ever had, anywhere, as long as I can remember! They actually reminded me of homecut, fresh tasting fries that were cut and prepared in plain sight, that I had at a Jersey shore boardwalk location many years ago. Their desserts and pies are excellent as well. I saved the best for last though- their amazing seafood bisque soup. This is 'the mother of all seafood soups'! A seafood party for your mouth! Creamy, with lobster, shrimp, and clam bits, and lots of them! I've either lived at, or visited many of America's coastal states that are known for superb seafood, and this soup is easily the best in the universe! I had dinner with my mom. She ordered the perch sandwich, which she enjoyed. I ordered a Cesar salad with chicken. I couldn't eat it as the chicken and lettuce tasted old. Our waitress was kind. The seafood bisque and french fries are extremely well known locally and are becoming famous nationally. My children ordered from the junior menu and seemed to enjoy their food, though my youngest got two small sized chicken tenders and could've done with one more. I had a sampler and a cup of bisque and they lived up to the expectation. Their homemade cookies always delight. It took a few minutes to sit down but they were friendly. It's a little tight in there, but that's because of all the guests. Overall 4.5 stars for quality food and staff service. I will say that if you are not familiar with the area, the local folk will know and stare a lot, especially if you are not in at least business casual, but the staff don't care, and quite frankly many people in the town can be snooty anyway. It is worth it for the fries and bisque alone, but other menu items are great also, like their sandwiches and perch dinners. This was my first trip to Huron. I found this place on Yelp and decided to take my son there for breakfast. It was our first mini-vacation together. I had an omelette that was very good. Iced tea is legit. He said his pancakes were the best he ever had. The food was so good that we went back the following day before our drive home. Hubby and I were driving through Huron and decided to have an early dinner on a Friday. What a delightful surprise we had. Had the perch walleye dinner with the seafood bisque, (THE very best), I had the chicken breast. Excellent! Excellent! The whole experience was marvelous. I suggested Berardi's after reading reviews for restaurants near Cedar Point. It was a short drive away from the congestion of the strip. A nice local family spot, with good comfort foods. The staff was friendly. I just thought that they could have been a little more attentive, the food for two of us was excellent and the other two was average in size and appeal. Cost was average for other similar places. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a place away from the bustle and crowds. read more

As a former Northern Ohio-an this place is a CLASSIC. I enjoyed my 1st time in only last night but fondly remember the Cedar Point fries as a kid (with the help of my family). This place is DELICIOUS. I am craving The Lake Erie Perch for lunch again today! No joke. The fries were as good as one would remember. For any Cedar Point old-timers this is the family that used to have the French fry concession at the park many years ago. The fries are still excellent, fresh cut and about four times the size of regular fries. Everything was homemade from the mashed potatoes to the cheese sticks. The chicken breast for the chicken parmesan sandwich was hand breaded not frozen. Marinara sauce was tasty. We got the sampler appetizer and I recommend both the onion rings and sauerkraut balls. read more
