While there was a small wait, the service was friendly, quick, and thoughtful. You're able to see the documents as they go through the shredder and they ask you if you want to keep the box you brought it in. Been going to Berkeley Shreds for years. Great business. Save up a box of paper to shred and they shred it so its all visable in front of you. They also will recycle electrical items, destroy hard drives if you want, and many other functions. A bankers box is less than $10 to shred (at this time). Visit them! read more

I pulled in and was met at the garage door with pleasantries, assisted with unloading my bags, given a price right there by the gentleman, and directed to the office to pay. It doesn't get any better than that. Wait, I lied.... the price was amazing. I'm glad I no longer have to burn out my poor little house shredder and can just bag it my docs, and bring them in. They start at $4 a bag (of course size specific). Let me say that again... $4. They're friendly, the prices are ridiculously reasonable, they dispose of a little bit of anything, and they get the job done fast and efficiently. $40 for two full boxes of shredding! Lots of less expensive places around - same size boxes at Richmond's shred Defence $14. Been going here for years and had fairly good service - today went with two boxes that were quite full possibly a box and half. The lady working there just automatically charged me double and their prices just went up to $10 a box but she charged me $20. When I questioned her she said well those are like double boxes (not they were full but not double). Didn't help that she wasn't even courteous or polite about it. Usually people working there have better customer service skills. read more

I had a great experience! The staff was friendly. It was fast, efficient and inexpensive. I know if there are ever busy hours, but it was very quiet when I was there. I had a chrome book with some physical damage but that had belong to my kid and didn't have anything sensitive on it so they referred me to an electronics recycling place right next-door. They took it for free and I felt good about not arbitrarily destroying it. All in all, a very pleasant place to destroy my 2015 taxes, etc! Sorry I didn't snap any photos. read more

I've spied Berkeley Shreds for what feels like years driving the Eastshore or maybe more often not driving crawling or seemingly parked forever on a many-lane freeway built for speed. And as I sit there and spy mental notes are made and yesterday finally when the boxes were full to overflowing and the hard drives piled up and needing proper destructive care I said OK off we go. Anticipating nothing really other than being done w the leftovers of an office life I'd let accumulate for so long and all kudos to me for actually doing something instead of putting it off. As I had made these arrangements the old fashioned way I hadn't noticed until later on that Shreds has 95 reviews and a five star rating. How many multiply reviewed places can say this. None? And guess what. Those reviews save for maybe one are spot on and appropriately celebratory. That the fellow that runs the machines inside has an office outside with succulent plants everywhere like Maude's sleeper car was a clue as I pulled in. Interesting. Then he's right there with a greeting and a rolly cart and instructions and in I go and to work he gets shredding my papers and dismantling drives all the while attending to like four other people who come in after me very efficient, very approachable, a ton of fun watching stuff get all tore up. The record of my service how many boxes how many machines was recorded in temporary marker on a laminated sheet to take inside (no waste!) and the folks in the office w the antique adding machines and sewing machines and other stuff that they've saved from destruction there in the front I love hoarders.
