Food - generally pretty good. The potato salad lacked flavor and tasted more like watered mashed potatoes. Pretzel is DELICIOUS, cheese sauce was okay. The Service - spotty, most of the time servers seemed to be waiting for "someone else" to do their job. This is where my 2 star rating comes in to play. We stopped by at 4pm on a Tuesday, my wife got a reservation for us on my birthday. We ordered a fair amount of food, bit more than we might normally. The ambiance was okay, a little college-barish for my taste, too much concrete and utilitarian seating. The wait staff was distant but friendly. Our waitress appeared too busy even though the place wasn't full. About 15 minutes after the food arrived, the waitress sort of called out to us from near the bar to see how we were doing. I asked for a take-home box and a soda refill. She came back with the box and the check. We left about 20 minutes later and the bartender waved as we left. I lived in Munich for a several years, so I'm probably a bit jaded. Maybe we hit a bad day but it didn't live up to my expectations (I didn't see food that matched a number of pictures here). We ordered the warm German Potato Salad and it was room temperature and almost looked pureed. The pretzel was a bit thin and dry, the sweet brown mustard was good but the beer cheese already had a firm skin on top. The red cabbage was flat, no familiar zing. The Jäger Schnitzel was a bit tough and the breading was cooked unevenly. The sauce covered about a quarter of the schnitzel and was room temperature; though it seemed like it could have been good. The spätzle was average for most US restaurants, which normally I would have mixed it with the Jäger sauce but didn't want to do at that time. The Bier u. Käse Suppe was the highlight of the meal for me. Although my wife "liked" the Bockwurst she took most of it home, I didn't pry. In the end, I'm unlikely to return. The price for the food seemed a bit high under the circumstances, service was minimal and the food didn't hit the authentic level I'd hoped for, 2.5 stars. read more

Then I ended up getting a beer and that was a Carmel, brown sugar, something delicious creamy, wow, blown away! I just loved them together! Hands down, i would suggest it! I also go the huge pretzel bc I'm really into "who" has the best! That beer sauce was 1.00 extra but we didn't finish it at all! I LOVED it. It's bread sooo just understand it's going to FILL you up! I stopped eating it and when the burger came I ate every single bite of that meal! The pretzel was good, great while it was warm! The mustard; not a fan, I've had some really good kind before. The atmosphere was great! The people were talking and most everyone in there was on a date, out with the girl/guy! It's a great date spot!! Keeping that in mind when I have a date! I only write reviews if the restaurant was exceptionally good or bad. With the Berliner Pub, unfortunately it was the latter. The food was the worst, so called German food, I ever had. There was nothing German about it. Being half German myself and cooking German food often, I know what authentic German food should taste like. As far as the ambiance, we were seated outside, which was freezing cold. We're in the middle of October but were told, when asked about heaters, that it was still summer and that they wouldn't be turned on til winter time. We wanted to sit inside but were told that due to my service dog being with me, we had to sit outside, although there was plenty of room inside. I've been to many restaurants before with my dog, and this has never happened at any other eatery. We were served mostly by an obnoxiously loud waiter, who most likely had a few drinks too many himself. All in all it was a miserable experience of an Oktoberfest for $150 for two people. I will never set my foot in this establishment again. read more

I went w/ the Berliner Bratwurst which comes w/ the bratwurst sausage, grilled bun, sauerkraut, & a choice of house-made chips, fries, or potato salad, in which I went w/ their house-made chips. After a couple of beers & getting our food, putting together the bratwurst, grilled bun, & sauerkraut, dipped in the mustard that I chose for dipping, it definitely hits different. Having both my parents come from German lineage, I have grown up with a love of good German food. The Berliner Pub was nice with plenty of big screen tv's, service was good, the beer was great, the food my wife and son had was good according to them, the pretzel we shared was very good. I asked for pork knuckle and was recommended the Schweinshaxe (hamhock) so I went with it. It was disappointing being just bone, gristle and fried skin with several small bites of pork... after having had pork knuckle many times in Bavaria, Germany, it was not what I expected at all and I left 3/4 of the food on my plate. The karaoke fired up near the end of dinner and was to loud so I had to leave the pub to protect my hearing. My son and I will come back again as we like German food but I will try something else and hopefully miss the karaoke. Prost! read more

Tonight we made our second official trip to the Berliner Pub. After our last outing we couldn't wait to go back. Like last time the pub was very busy and lively (great atmosphere). We had to wait a couple of minutes to find a seat (busy Friday night), and we lucked up with two barstools right at the fire table. When our waitress stopped by she informed us that there was a steak special going on (it looked delicious) and that they were (to our resounding disappointment) out of pretzels that evening; I had been dreaming of those pretzels for weeks, so I was crestfallen to learn that they were not available. But, life must go on, so we decided to choose something else instead. To drink I ordered the same Hofbrau beer that I ordered last time because it was so good and my wife (not a big drinker) stuck with water. After browsing the menu we settled on the "Berliner Platte" and the fried pickles. The Berliner Platte, according to the menu, is "five sausage platter; Berliner Bratwurst, Smoked Cheese, Spicy Cheese, Chicken Andouille & Bockwurst served with grilled sourdough, sauerkraut, cornichons and mustard (side and bun not included)." We really, really enjoyed this platter last time so we wanted to order it again. When our food came out it looked delicious and we couldn't wait to dive in. The platter had the same delicious food that the last one had and it was amazing. It is such a treat sampling and comparing the sausage against one another (you get to feel like a real connoisseur while you are sampling). To be honest I enjoyed every single bite. The fried pickles were tasty, but they were not the best I've had; I feel that they just weren't seasoned as well as most other fried pickles tend to be. Now, this is not to say that you shouldn't give the pickles a shot, but I would have much rather ordered the pretzel. Pros: the atmosphere, Berliner Platte, and Hofbrau Lager were all amazing! If you go, you have to order the Berliner. Trust me. Cons: I hate to sound like a broken record, but it was a bummer that they were out of pretzels. The fried pickles were nothing to write home about, but if you are a fried pickles lover then I'm certain you will like these. So what?: If you haven't given this place a shot, you don't know what you are missing. Order the Berliner Platte if nothing else, and I can almost guarantee you will be making a return trip. read more

I went here late at night to get a bit to eat. The decor is nice and open--and there was a lot of people and energy at the bar (including some sort of trivia contest). When I first came in I sat by the windows, but did not get served for awhile and moved more towards the bar. In general service is kind of slow. The servers are friendly, but just overtaxed. The Berliner has an excellent beer menu. I had one of the hefeweizens which was really good. I also ordered some chicken wings, but given the name of the bar probably should have ordered a sausage. The wings were very hot. They were called Buffalo Wings--but these were like burn your mouth hot. Some wing places rate their wings based on hotness--these would be near the top if that is what you like. After that, to soothe my mouth I ordered some vanilla ice cream. The schnitzel was perfect, the red cabbage was as one would expect, and the spaetzle was delicate and light (moreover than we make at home). This is one of those places where you easily drive past it, but inside lies pure bliss. I thank Groupon for times like this... For introducing me to a place I would of otherwise never known about. My bf and I came here early evening Saturday. We walked in and honestly, this is one of the best atmospheres I ever experienced. Just something about it gives a really chill, unique vibe. Anyway, they have a great selection of German beer. My bf and I started off with deep fried pickles. It was delicious! Then he ordered the pork schnitzel and I ordered the Berliner bratwurst. His came with red cabbage and this mashed potato. It was scrumptious! My bratwurst was good and the sour kraut was phenomenal! Not only was the ambience great and the food exceptional, but the service was impeccable. You don't find this kind of attentive and friendly service nowadays. Wow, this place is so good for the variety of beer and food options. I was craving German food and was thinking about making a day trip to Leavenworth but remember that Berliner pub opened back up so this sounded much more reasonable. I went to Berliner back when I was in college and don't remember anything being terrible and this visit was proof of that. We really enjoyed the pretzel with beer cheese soup. I wish it was a bit more cheesy than soupy but it was still good. My boyfriend got the bitberger beer and said it was a nice beer option aside from his typical IPAs. He got the Berliner bacon cheeseburger and said that the patty was super juicy and flavorful. Other than that, the burger was pretty standard. I got the rahmschnitzel and really loved it. I love spaetzle and this really satisfied that craving. Pork was nice and tender and the crab sauce was tasty. The red cabbage isn't really my cup of tea, but I can understand why it's served with the dish cause it's really rich and the cabbage cuts through all of that. I also got a spicy cheese sausage on the side which has good flavor but I think it was a bit over cooked. It was a bit dried out but we still enjoyed the smoky, slightly spicy sausage. We were super full after all of this so we didn't have room for dessert but we definitely would come back for dessert.
