The good about this restaurant is the location and wonderful view, lots of choices especially for my gluten free diet. The food is pretty good considering it's right on the beach. The waitress was sweet, attentive and got everything right. What frosted me was there was a $2.50 service charge on the bill. No mention on the menu, no mention what the "service charge" was for. Okay, it's only $2.50 but it's expensive enough to go out for lunch but what the heck? Why a service charge? It was a bit nippy that day so but the view was amazing and we had plenty of space coming in on the weekday. We sat on the patio first floor so servers was good. We got all our drinks, fresh and cold. View of the beach was amazing. I had an inkling for clam strips so I ordered that which came nice and hot fresh fried. It was a little bit pricier but given the location we're at I can't complain. The tartar sauce was nice and tangy. The coleslaw was a bit flavorless, but I let that pass. Food. My sister ordered the shrimp cocktail. When the person brought it from the kitchen, there was one (1) on the plate. The menu did not forewarn the unsuspecting patron that there was only 1 in the appetizer. She was expecting at least 3-5. Do NOT get the steak sub. It's awful. I usually go to Bernie's for a quick bite when I spend the whole day at the beach. The sub didn't even have a full amount of steak in it. I saw so many people order it so I thought I would give it a try... big mistake! My brother and his gf ordered the same thing and they also couldn't eat it. On that note.... The burger is great! Outdoor seating at Bernie's was perfect. My server, Sarah, was a sweetheart and did a great job. We both had a misunderstanding when I ordered oysters (I wanted 2 of each kind for a total of 6 and she thought I meant 2 dozen total lol). No biggie it was quickly rectified. I also had the clam strip basket with fries. Portions were generous and they were really good! I considered a 4* simply for price but it's a tourist trap in tourist season so I guess expect $26.00 clams, I mostly wanted to highlight Sarah's professionalism and great service - thanks girl! The lobster bisque is the ABSOLUTE BEST I have ever had. I take every opportunity to try bisque from coast to coast and this style with thick, creamy, rich stock and generous chunks of lobster is undeniably the best. Recently discovered this restaurant when we went to Hampton Beach (on a Monday). Loved it! What a scenic location! Available deck on the 2nd floor overlooking the street and beach! Had a great time! Food was delicious! A little more expensive, but given the location, it's still reasonable. Had the fish sandwich and two dozen oysters ($1 each on Mondays). Oysters were good. Kinda smaller than I hoped for, but still, they were fresh, and delicious. And most importantly, they didn't swim back up in the middle of the night. ;-) One of the sauces that came with the oysters was absolutely delicious: Some sort of really spicy habanero sour cream or something like that. OMG! I did spread it all over my fish sandwich. I'm drooling all over my keyboard thinking about it! :) Even with their covid masks, all the (female) servers are beautiful! Seriously.
