Our first experience at Berthas was a delivery order. It's a cold snowy night in Denver so we started our Yelp search with those restaurants that offer delivery. We went a little further out of our range tonight but still within reason for a delivery. From our cozy living room we chose Berthas after looking over the menu. We selected the pork sliders, Fish & Chips (onion rings substitute), Fish tacos & the Rueben. Just minutes after hitting purchase from the Yelp App the phone rang. It was Berthas. A very friendly woman was calling to verify we had adjusted the Rueben with a Bun instead of marble Rye. She kindly suggested the marble Rye was so much better than the bun but understood if I wanted to keep the substitution. We immediately agreed and went with the Marble Rye. It was definitely the right thing to do. We are not fans of Rye but the restaurant was right, it was the best match! The Home made corn beef was so good. Great sandwich. The sliders were very good. I suggest you get a coleslaw to compliment the BBQ pork. We used the slaw from the Fish n chips. Also we love onion rings so we did substitute them in instead of chips and so glad we did. Huge size and nice n crispy. The 2 large fish filets were so big and crispy we cut each filet in half to share 4 ways. Finally the fish taco order was 3 nice size tacos with just enough cabbage and avocado. When we go back to dine in we all agree we'd order extra crema! Our first experience with a restaurant we've never tried before was a win win with Berthas Baja Bistro. We will definitely return to dine in soon! Food was super yummy! Edit 4/3/20 I am updating my review and giving Berthas a five star rating again. I had a bad experience the last time I ordered Cajun shrimp pasta as it had only five shrimp. Previously I had had it several times and it had considerably more. This time they were eight, which I consider generous and reasonable. I'm that they paid attention to their reviews because this was and now is again one of my favorite places to order from. They give prompt delivery and really delicious food. The Cajun shrimp pasta is just delicious shrimp and pasta cooked in an excellent tomato sauce. I also had one of their Philly cheese steaks not long ago and it was very good and rather authentic. This means it was a bit greasy, but that's how they make them in Philadelphia. I know that because I used to live there. Birthdays is a very nice change from my usual Asian takeout. Stopped in for lunch today like many times before, I usually get a burger but I thought I would try something new. By the way the burgers are soo good. I ordered chicken tacos and when they brought them out the sauce on them was something I just couldn't eat. It was totally my fault and they took it back to make it right. I discovered this place last summer on a walk and was really excited to try it, unfortunately it was in the midst of all that surrounded attempting to get control of the Covid-19 challenges. Happily on a walk last week I discovered that it's still there, and offering outdoor seating, and as I've had shot 1 of 2, I'm feeling more hopeful and comfortable with eating out once again. With all of that being said, my husband and I put on our masks and walked over for our first visit. We were not disappointed. Between the two of us we shared the chicken and waffles and the enchiladas (a chicken, a cheese, and a shrimp). Everything was delicious and served hot. The waffle could have been a little bit more sweet to my tastes, but I wasn't going to say no to the bites offered by my husband. My enchiladas were really tasty, could have been a little more spicy, but as my father used to say, I was raised with salsa in my bottle!, so they're probably just right for most. They do offer a really hot sauce that was spicy but flavorful, but not for everyone. Also available was a tasty and fresh homemade salsa which went well the beans and rice. The beans and rice were very traditional and good as well. We loved our server who was very warm, friendly and quick. We will definitely be taking many more walks in there direction in the coming months! read more

Totally surprised by how delicious this place is! Honestly, with menus that are kind of all over the place I am pretty skeptical - but everything was wonderful. My family (a group of ten) met here for dinner and all ordered wildly different things - salmon salad, macaroni and cheese, burgers, teriyaki chicken sammy - and all of it was really, really good! I was also very impressed with the fried pickles - this is a seemingly easy thing, but lemme tell ya some restaurants really mess 'em up. They're huge cuts of crunchy dill pickle and the batter used holds up when cutting and biting into them. The service was also great - I was warned upon walking in that there were only three minutes left for happy hour and was able to order a drink right off the bat. Everyone was super friendly and the food came quickly. Some of my family members have already decided they will be taking some friends here to visit - and I'm sure this will become a new family group-dinner favorite. read more

Drove by a huge line of people waiting for brunch at Snooze en route to lovely patio seating with no wait at Bertha's. This food is legit. Breakfast burrito was solid, but the real winner: huevos rancheros fríes. The greatest plate of cheese fries with green chili, carne asada and a sunny side up egg. Now that I've had a chance visit sevetal times, and have had numerous items from their menu, I'm impressed with Jose and his team. They take pride in their food, service, and drinks! Flawless service, yummy margaritas, and a great front of house staff (Rachelle, Shienne, Chris, and Mallory), lead by their bundle of personality and energy... Kiya! What a bunch, they take excellent care of their customers. My favorites from the menu are the house cured pastrami reuben, adult mac-n-cheese, carne asada tacos, poke salad, the fiji, the sunrise, and the adult grilled cheese! Try the off menu carne asada pizza, worthy! If you're in on Wed evening, try the prine rib special, the rub Jose uses is on point! The Fri fish-n-chips special is tasty as well, you get a healthy helping of lightly beer battered fish cooked perfectly. I have been going to BBB since the day they opened. While appearances don't mean much quality of food and service does mean everything to me. This family and restaurant care deeply about every aspect of their restaurant. Jose and his wife prepare almost everything from scratch and their flavors/taste will surprise you. Where a lot of restaurants will poor a bunch of salt on their food (gross) and call it flavor Bertha's actually has unique tastes (quesadilla you'll never taste one like their's) and flavors. Ordered on Grubhub food came fast hot and delicious. I had the Tacos, onion rings, bacon wrapped dates, and the oddest yet most satisfying burgers for my life. So this burger...to start off the bun was on point. Yet add peanut butter, jelly, bacon, and fried jalapeños. OMG! Amazing! And never pass on the bacon wrapped dates. Went to Bertha's on St. Paddy's day. They had a nice little special going for a shot and a beer. The whole menu doesn't really reflect the "Baha" theme, though. Service was fine. We got a pizza and a reuben. Fries with the Reuben were excellent. You could tell it was all scratch made which earned some brownie points. Overall, it was good bar food. It's kind of off the beaten path if you don't live right in that neighborhood in a non-descript plaza. We live a few miles away and am not sure we'll go back. I would say if you're in the area that this definitely is a good option with a small town neighborly feeling. But then again, I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. read more

Just stopped in at Bertha's. It's prime rib Wednesday. I had a house margarita and it was great! The French onion soup was delicious! Ordered a medium rare prime rib dinner to go. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked correctly. The dinner comes with mashed potatoes and green beans. I substituted steamed broccoli, but the grilled vegetables are another choice. This is place is great and a welcome addition to neighborhood. I had the smoked wings yesterday and they are the real deal. I've also had their Reuben which I take very seriously. It too is fantastic. Most importantly, they are the nicest people and are sincerely there to make you feel welcome. It's rare to see a restaurant come out of the gate so strong. Was excited to see the ratings for a neighborhood establishment. It was lunchtime and only a few tables. Someone that appears to be the manager sat us and then we waited too long considering the business levels. Manager could have offered a beverage if the server was busy but even though it was almost 1pm yesterday's specials were still posted and about 20 minutes later the music was turned on. Wow! Great find in the neighborhood! This new restaurant was recommended by a friend, but never thought it would be sooo good!! I had the "adult grill cheese w/bacon" w/a side of Mac'n'cheese (yes, I went for the carb overload!!) and dang I wasn't disappointed! Yum! Yum! Tucked into a little commercial strip in the quiet Mayfair neighborhood, Bertha's Baja Bistro is one of the best kept restaurant secrets in Denver! The smoked wings are the best in town. The Baja Salmon is excellent - fresh and savory and accented with a fantastic roasted corn and avocado relish, served with delicious grilled vegetables and mashed red potatoes. The nachos are generously sized and delicious. The burgers (locally sourced ingredients) are fantastic. We also really like Abuela's Chicken, which is pan braised and served with a jalapeño corn cream sauce + sautéed green beans and mashed potatoes. The tacos are delicious too (a generous 8 ounces of cod on their fish tacos!), and the Friday fish and chips are also a good choice. Great happy hour too - all appetizers are $2.00 off and the house wines are $3.50 a glass. The house red is better than many red wines that go for at least three times that price at other restaurants. Their prices are in fact quite reasonable overall. Natasha was our server last time we went there and she was excellent! Don't miss this local gem! Though the ambiance is not outstanding (beach-themed sports bar), we give Bertha's five stars for food, value, and service, and enthusiastically recommend giving them a try. read more
