I'm surprised I hadn't reviewed Bertha's yet! They're a good neighbor with great food, and last night they went above and beyond. We've been there several times in person for burgers, salads, and Mexican food. I love the fish tacos and love the smoked wings. My family likes the burgers and the Reuben. Great onion rings too and a friendly, family-owned vibe. Last night we ordered takeout online. They had it ready fast, and my husband ran it to grab it while I waited in the car. But at home, we realized they'd given us someone else's meal. While Gregory's meal looked good, I had my heart set on wings! I called Bertha's and explained. The guy who answered was so nice and apologized immediately. He said he would remake our (recited whole order) immediately so we could pick it up in 10 minutes. Nice, huh? But wait -- then he said "Hang on, you know what, I'll bring it to you." What seemed like moments later, our dinner was at the door, and he has us keep Gregory's meal too (nice gesture and of course good safety move). I was shocked by the great service. Last time I didn't get something I ordered (looking at you, Denver Biscuit Company), the restaurant basically told me the DoorDasher should've checked and hung up on me. What Bertha's didn't know last night was that it was my birthday, and I'd already tried to go to a brewery (no seating) and went to another to buy from the food truck ... which drove away as we parked at 6:30 pm. Something has changed. The food used to be very good. Not sure what happened but I won't be ordering from there again. What a treat this was to have delivered to my door. I ordered the whiskey burger and the Baja salmon were both cooked perfectly and warm when they arrived. Yum! The salmon came with grilled carrots, squash, and zucchini. The salmon had a corn and avocado salsa on tope. A side mashed potatoes finished the dish off perfectly and healthy to boot. One of the best restaurants in my life! Berthas definitely became a staple in our lives as my husband & I only lived down the block at the apartment complex for about a year and half now. Before COVID it is the highlight of the neighborhood! The bar area was always filled with laughter and a drink never seemed to go empty. During COVID it is a highlight in a different way. The food was just spectacular. The carne asada tacos were my go to just because the pickled onions. Omg I want to buy a jar of those onions. We tried other items on their menu and were never disappointed. The staff are all very amazing and kind! I know it's work but they all look like they're happy and having a good time. Would not recommend coming for brunch. We came in Saturday morning and were seated by the one waitress. She was doing everything and doing it well. Seating, serving, answering phones, clearing tables. The 3 stars are because of her. We placed our orders and waited 20 mins for our food. Toast was dry and served without butter or jelly, burrito was inedible. Soggy with odd Cajun flavor. Pancakes weren't good; stale or freezer burned. The hot sauce was the best thing we ordered, would recommend that with the potatoes. Unfortunately the food didn't come close to the service. We won't be back. read more

I love this restaurant. The staff is friendly. They offer delivery and it is normally fast. We order often from work and the orders are accurate and the portions are just right. I have been frequenting this restaurant since the beginning of COVID 19. At first we just got delivery but once the restrictions were lifted, we were able to dine in the restaurant. The food at Bertha's is excellent!!! Unfortunately, it's overshadowed by the absolutely terrible service! We stopped going there over a year ago because Summer was an awful waitress that couldn't be bothered to pay attention to her tables and we tried again this evening to be intro to Caprice. I believe that was her name, she never introduced herself, couldn't make eye contact or even be bothered with us, however that name was on the receipt. I also need to mention that when she brought the empty plates to our table (for our appetizers) I legit thought she was going to toss them at us with her level of aggression. No clue who she is or why she hated us, maybe she's in the wrong line of work. What the interior decor (lots of TVs, carpeted floor, basic black furniture) lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in the food! We started with delicious bacon-wrapped dates, My daughter had the Cajun shrimp pasta and loved it. I had delightful fish-n-chips with cod lightly breaded and perfectly fried, with good French fries. What to drink? Just get a beer or something simple as the Mojito and Mule cocktails ($6-7) were marginal. It seems like the bar is the popular spot to be at this joint. We sat in the dining room and took in the olympics instead. The waitress was really nice and attentive. Even though I am a foodie and have a rep as a really good cook I reached the point where I am tired of cooking and of my own cooking. I scrolled through their menu and decided to be strategic and order more than enough for one meal. 1st choice: Sesame-soy Marinated Ahi Tuna, Avocado, Macadamia Nuts, Sesame Seeds, Seaweed Salad, Fried Wontons, Sesame Vinaigrette - gets 5 *'s from me. The tuna was a good sized pile, and the accompaniments were tasty. 2nd: 1 # (about 7 pcs) of Smoked Hickory Wings In House Made Buffalo or Spicy BBQ Sauce - love that smoke flavor! 3rd: their House Hickory-smoked pulled pork, house made BBQ sauce & dill pickles - my taste buds danced when they got a hold of that bite! 4 plump sliders with buttery crisp buns, perfect amount of sauce and great flavor! & yes, I did a 4th: House Made Beer Cheese, fresh Carrots, Celery, Pear, Toasted Cranberry Walnut Bread, and Potato Chips - lovely light melty cheese heaven with just right size bites for dipping. I'll probably pass on the chips but the bread was lightly toasted and was a surprising and yummy compliment to the cheese. Delivery time was reasonable and packaging is environmentally friendly. We dined on a Saturday (2/10) and still commenting on how good the food was with neighbors and friends; definitely deserves a review. First get the house margarita!!! Just do it. Second order the Adult Mac n Cheese and The Boss Pizza. To die for goodness and enough for leftovers the next day. Our son had the kids cheese burger and rarely does he finish his entree, there was nothing left. We also had the brownie sundae - amazing!! My friend and I came to Bertha's, ordered takeout, and took it to a nearby park to eat. The food was okay, and wasn't anything special. I got an enchilada combo, and it was covered in cheese, which was great. The negative part of my experience was the wait. It took a ridiculously long time for the food to come out, and it took awhile for the waitstaff to get us utensils before we were able to take off. Ordered take out on Sunday evening and food was promptly ready when expected. Great burgers! Had the Don Fuego burger with sweet potato fries, which were awesomely crispy. Let me say, the food here is excellent and I would definitely come here again if I'm in the area. The onion rings are awesome, the side salad was great, and I really liked the Big Sur burger with a veggie patty. If I do come again though, I just hope I have a different server. Wow. The only way I can describe the service Amanda provided is "salty." 3 out of four of us ordered burgers with onion rings as a side. One of my party confirmed at the time of ordering that the side of onion rings would come with the BBQ aioli mentioned under the appetizer section of the menu. Amanda said it would. When she brought our food out, she only brought one very small container of sauce, and placed it in front of my friend. As she walked away from our table I asked if she could also bring the sauce for my other friend and I who had also ordered onion rings. Instead of saying "sure!" or "no problem" she told us that what she put on the table was for the three of us to share but she "could bring one more for the other side of the table if you really want it." Huh? Is this sauce made with the eggs of a sacred chicken who only provides one a day and spices grown under the full moon harvested by monks during a lunar eclipse or something? I told her yes that would be great and thank you. So she brought out one more very small container of sauce. For two people to share. For the two orders of onion rings. Gross. I don't want to be sharing sauce with my friends and their saliva. If I ordered my own onion rings that supposedly come with sauce I expect to also have my own sauce for them. Onion rings are big and nearly everyone who eats onions rings wants to be able to double dip in their own sauce. Preferably without a snide remark from their server. I asked for one more and reluctantly she brought out the third sauce. We get through our meal. We're delivered the check. She walked away pretty quickly so I couldn't tell her we would be splitting the check. Instead I fished out a pen from my bag and we each wrote down what each person got and gave her our credit cards. When she came to pick it up and I let her know we were paying separately she very rudely responded "You should have told me that before you sat down. In the future you should say something because now this makes a lot more work for me and in the end you as well" and stormed off. Yikes. Ok, first of all, the sauce hoarding was weird. Calm down lady, it's just sauce. If three people ordered fish and chips would you only provide one side of tartar sauce for them to share? Secondly, seeing as we were a group of four women, clearly not from the same family, you could have asked us if we wanted separate checks when we ordered. I'll admit we could have said something too, but you didn't have to be rude about it. I haven't tipped less than 20% in years and I felt bad about the 15% you were given. Honestly though, I'm not sure you deserved a tip at all. You were rude, petulant, and condescending to a group of women who had been very thankful, pleasant, and were simply out to have a nice lunch as friends. We weren't rowdy, rude, messy, or demanding. I do feel bad about leaving only a 2 star review, especially because the food was excellent. However, I think the owner needs to know what kind of service customers receive with this server. Maybe she was having an off day but, taking it out people who have been nothing but pleasant is really bad customer service. I would however definitely come back for the onion rings.
