We drove 25 minutes to try Bert's for breakfast after it had been recommended to me. It's a non descrip exterior with a 1950's style interior (think soda fountains and banana sunday's). But there is another half that has plain table seating that is probably used for lunch / dinner. There is ample parking and a large park across the street. We shared the blueberry pancakes, had 2 of their breakfast specials, and then a slice of pie and a rice pudding for dessert. The blueberry pancakes were unremarkable. Not bad, but not as good as I can get at several local places. The breakfast specials were fine and reasonably priced. The coconut custard pie was terrible, but the rice pudding was good. Overall a fine place to eat, but moreso if you are within a 10 minute drive. Otherwise you can probably find the same or better closer to you. read more

Was looking at this place because it came up on my feed. I've actually been to this place. It's.....ok. You get that 1950's diner vibe, but you also get the slow ‍ service of the 1950's as well. Been here a couple of times (maybe twice). No frills....food is not horrible, it's not Michelin Star neither. I would recommend this place for breakfast as long as you have time to kill. read more

I would like to post a positive review because it's a local place, I was excited to have a Thai place close by and the people are really nice, but in all good conscience I can't. Bert's began featuring "Bangkok Night", an event highlighting Thai food prepared by a "Bangkok-trained chef", and I was looking forward to trying it. My friend and I ordered Pad Thai last night, and I ordered the mixed seafood, heat level 3 of 5. (Pad Thai is my normal barometer for good Thai, and I order it everywhere). There was zero heat, the seafood other than the shrimp tasted like it was beyond its "use by" date, and the dish totally lacked that familiar and beloved tamarind flavor, with the end result being a completely bland, kind of mushy Pad Thai. They did, however, have excellent fresh-brewed iced tea, which elevated the experience to a 2-Star. I won't be back for another try, once was quite enough for me. read more

This restaurant is meticulously clean. There are 3 rooms for dining. Our book club uses it for our read & chats. We can discuss books and share reviews. The food is delicious and had a diverse menu. The staff is attentive and anticipates the needs of its customers. It is wheel chair accessible with a ramp to enter. I recommend this restaurant for its delicious food & excellent staff. read more

I usually order breakfast here. No complaints. Food is good and they make an effort to always get my bacon done right for me (chewy not crispy). Their fries have always been very good. Burgers come out medium even if you say medium rare. Staff is friendly. They can get busy around lunchtime. Sometimes they close early because work staff calls out but that's common for all the small businesses around the area post-pandemic. read more

I came here 6/25/24 and ordered a special. I asked to add chocolate chips to my pancakes, they said no. I was willing to pay extra, but was told no. I found that odd, and the waitress seemed annoyed that I even asked. Then while I was eating my food, another customer went to pay at the counter and told the woman she was charged an extra 1.50 or so because she charged everything separately instead of the price for number 2 on the menu. The waitress came over and said "you didn't order the number 2". The woman then said "I did though, number 2 is this, and that is what I ordered". The waitress fought back and forth with her saying that because she didn't explicitly say "number 2" and instead said what was included in the number 2, that she didn't actually order the number 2 and instead will be charged for each item separately. She literally fought with her back and forth and then eventually gave in and acted like she did the customer a favor. It was so uncomfortable to watch and listen to. Stopped here on my Appalachian Trail thru-hike last year, and it was easily one of my favorites! Being a hungry hiker, I got to try a lot of different dishes and there is nothing I wouldn't order again. Breakfast was my all time favorite and Also the milkshakes!! Even better was dipping the fries in the milkshakes The staff is great and the prices cannot be beat! Was Looking Forward to Stopping in here for a very long time and at least 3xs and was thwarted by different things:it was closed,it was too early in the day etc... Well today we made it for a late lunch and wish I never had! While the ambience is quite kitsch y and there are plenty of the usual diner offerings our Orders were well below average .I had a chopped steak with gravy and onions which was hard ,overcooked (just a large hamburger patty)And greasy onions.My mashed potatoes tasted like instant and were cold. Green beans were either straight from a can or so overcooked they were lifeless...My husband's Cheesesteak sandwich was on a stale bun,sans the cheese accompanying fries were limp... My folks and I went there for takeout to support local business. My dad got the country sausage platter. The sausage was tough to chew. My mom had cheddar cheese fries. The cheddar cheese was hard and the fries on their own weren't very good. Then they decide they don't need to obey the guidelines of being only takeout and opened their doors for dine in eating while the other businesses in the community did their part by doing take out ONLY. Whatevs. Anyway, it's a top notch place to buy a reasonably priced meal in the just-right air conditioned comfort of downtown Palmerton. Very friendly, attentive staff. Immaculately clean (even the restrooms). A nice nostalgic, low key music selection. Laid back local clientele are pleasant company. Ice cream, sandwiches, burgers, breakfast all day. Good cup of coffee. A real gem and a genuine oasis (especially if you're coming off the Appalachian Trail, as I was). Four stars means great, five means perfect. This place is great, but it gets close to perfect. Call it 4.5. read more

I used to enjoy this place but it definitely went downhill. Went in the other night with two friends it was so busy and only one cook, one waitress there. The waitress didn't look happy when she saw us standing there waiting to be seated. We wound up seating ourselves after 20+ minutes. Then another half hour goes by and no waitress. It has been a while since I ate here, but yet again another shitty meal. Had the French onion soup as an app it was so salty it tasted like I ate a container of salt. The fries were brown they were deep fried twice the cheese steak was the only thing that was ok, but how hard is it to fry some meat and add cheese. Great breakfast, which I frequently order to go when I don't want to cook, but service could kick it up a notch. Sat for 20 minutes before even being served coffee. Even if you're not our server, instead of passing us 5 times to tell us our server will be "with us shortly," be courteous and just serve us the coffee even though it's not your tip. Nice place, very clean, went there for breakfast this morning, order was placed and food was brought out in a timely manner. A proper Ham & Cheese Omelet with toast and home fries. Check is left with you there so you don't have wait in case you're in a rush. They do breakfast right by golly. They have three sections, the diner, the old time sit down restaurant, and the meeting or function room. Been part of the town since 1957 so they must be doing something right. Talked to the owner she opens up almost everyday so that means somebody cares. It wasn't a overly great place as it was consistent and proper. I've eaten at Bert's since they have been in business, and their food was always rated 100%. I think they have the BEST fried chicken in the world. And their chili is to die for. Perfect! We got into town at 830 pm last night & wanted something lite to eat , being out of town we had no idea where to go . Driving by we seen Bert's , my husband and I thought it was a steakhouse like outback . Boy were we wrong . It's a cute 50 styles diner ! So cute ! They close at 9 and we walked in at 830 . I kept saying sorry to the waitress about the time , she insisted it was ok she still had work to do . We ordered our sandwiches and my daughter wanted a ice cream cone , the waitress was so nice and even let me try a spoon of pie that sounded kinda gross ( peach mixed with blueberry) it was soooooo yummy I got a piece to go.
