I'm being generous as this would normally be more of a 3 star place for me, but I think it's a solid 4 star for this community! We were going to a place nearby that serves 6-8 different types of cuisine that I didn't want to roll the dice with on a Saturday night. We had to park behind and walk by Steak and Steele to get there and she smelt steak and wondered where it was coming from? That was my opportunity to point out the Japanese style steak place! So we rolled the dice.... We sat at a traditional window table by the bar and were seated quickly. I wanted to do the teppanyaki table but she didn't want to deal with other folks etc on a busy night. The server was so nice and very down to earth. Fairly quick service overall. She had no clue about the ins and outs of this cuisine but she knew the menu well. I had fun talking with her and explained a few reasons for my questions about this type of dining that I know very well and she seemed to enjoy learning. Another server next to us seemed very much the same way and they worked well together with service. My wife ordered a really good Yuzu and I got a Sapporo draft. She loved that yuzu but to me it was kind of too sweet and I love sugary drinks. But I'd highly recommend looking at the bottle and finding one. $15 but this product category is not cheap. I prefer Kirin over Sapporo but it was good. We ordered steak and shrimp and steak and prawns, along with a spicy tuna roll extra spicy. The roll was Meh at best and not even really spicy at all but still tasty I guess and just above grocery store sushi grade. The food platter we got was F enourmous! Wow I just didn't know how to even imagine it when it showed up. We both opted for half noodles and half rice and the pile of these was immense. But it was about as good as say Panda Express or maybe slightly better however a huge volume. Protein was pretty generous and was seasoned pretty well and cooked at a good temp. The onion soup was mild but nice touch. Salad basic but fresh. I'd eat here again if ever in town again. The bar looked nice with four tv screens across from a group of stools in a line. Probably good for a drink and snack. But it just doesn't wow me other than really appreciating the great staff, value for the money, and an alternative to a dinner elsewhere I didn't care to try. read more

Have eaten here once at a hibachi table and most recently in the dining room and both times were exactly what I was looking for. The food is exceptional and if youre looking for reasonably priced Hibachi I noticed their lunch menu was less expensive. Our server, Amber, was wonderful and accommodating. I love hibachi. This is not good hibachi. The only good thing about S&S was the service. Our server was great, attentive & personable. The rest of this review is negative. There's no ambiance here. It looks like they stuck hibachi tables in the back of a bar. The food itself was bland which I didn't think was possible. The salad was definitely old. No question. My friends paid $17 for a drink that was certainly from a mix. But my main gripe? There were no exhaust hoods above the tables. My eyes burned the entire meal. My clothes reek of cooking oil. The smell sunk into everything I was wearing. This place is a rip off and I guess the locals don't know any better. read more

Great take out! Had a sushi picnic by the water with my best friend and everything was amazing. Pork gyoza was big and flavorful! 6 per order- perfect for sharing. We shared the steak/chicken hibachi lunch combo that came with miso soup and a small ginger salad. It was a nice portion- even had some leftover for later. The rolls were nice and fat. Had reservations for 18 people at 6pm. After waiting 1 hr and 15 minutes, we finally were seated. Waited another 10 minutes for someone to come and take our drink order. Drinks showed up but only partially. Had to remind the waitress that some of us did not get our drinks; Showed up another 15 minutes later. Never received refills after our first round. Placed appetizer & dinner order, and asked that the bill be split between 4 families. We were informed that cannot do that and we would be responsible for splitting the bill ourselves. So make sure you have an accountant or math major with you when dining here. Food was good; Hibachi chefs same as any other. Salad dressing was super water downed and tasteless. After we ate, we remained for 30 minutes extra to calculate the bill. Last thing you want to do after eating! Overall, a very inconvenient dining experience. Will not return. P.S. The dinner went well up to the end. The server had just asked if we wanted dessert which we did not. She gave us the check. Came back a few minutes later I gave her my credit card and she left. After a few minutes the hostess came over and said she had another party coming in and needed the table very rude. Part of my party was already getting their coats on. The food was outstanding. We had the hibachi filet mignon and shrimp. The chef was not only entertaining, but prepared everything perfectly. After we were served, he brought me a ballooned rose. Nice touch. The server could've used a little help though. I think she needs some guidance on how to better serve ie never asked to refill beverages, the empty salad and soup bowls sat well after the chef started cooking. My husband asked for another she grabbed that glass and put more club soda in it. A fresh drink would have been more appropriate. I came here to celebrate my birthday with friends. It was a great modern hibachi spot. The parking garage is so close by and cheap too! We were seated promptly and our server was on point, too notch and super quick! I got calamari and gyoza apps and they were both delicious. I did filet and lobster hibachi with fried rice and soup and salad. The soup and salad was so good. I enjoyed the hibachi but i would not get lobster again, it tasted super fishy. Love this place! I get the same thing every time, the garden salad (thai dressing/no peanuts) and the Tom Yum soup. So good! My husband orders the big sushi/sashimi platter ($35) but great quality and nice portions sizes. I met one of the owners a few times, he is a great guy, relatively young and he and his partners put their hearts and souls into this place. Firstly, the Chef was awesome: great showmanship, good skills, solid egg-work, and compelling fire tricks. The food was solid and sushi was 10/10. However, the wait staff was RUDE. Order wasn't taken for almost an HOUR. Rudely FORCED out shortly after our food was done being cooked. I ate here for the first time on a Saturday night-- large group of 12 for Hibachi with a reservation. Our reservation was for 6 and we were seated right away. The place had a good crowd without being too over crowded. Service was great, the hibachi chef gave a great show but the place was so full of smoke from the grills it was disgusting. When I first walked in I thought there was a fire! The haze from the hibachi grills took over the whole place. I've eaten at other hibachi restaurants and they have a vent hood directly over every grill. Not so at this place. The food was pretty good. You receive a large portion but my steak was overcooked, and I felt he used too much teriyaki sauce on all the meats. My martini was excellent. In summary -- food was ok, service was good, but don't go there unless you plan on throwing everything you wore or took in with you, into the washer as soon as you get home.. I unfortunately washed my hair before I went and thought my dog was going to lick the hair off my head when I went to bed . I guess I'll be washing it sooner than I had wanted to again . read more

I made my way in to town during the first storm of the season . However, the strong weather was NO match for my even stronger hibachi craving. This California girl was NOT going to brave the elements for lunch,so DoorDash it was. I called the restaurant prior to ordering to assure that my $50 doordash for a 1 minute away delivery was worth it. The woman who answered the phone was PHENOMENAL. She answered my dozens of questions with a smile you could hear over the phone. My food arrived with a playful joke from our conversation written on the bag. I wish I could tell the woman how much that made me smile. I was in a bit of a funk and that one small gesture turned the direction of my trip completely around. So thank you x1000!!!! Good food. Definitely pricey but your downtown and getting an experience. Hibachi chefs and waiters were great with my 2.5 year old who was experiencing hibachi for the first time. One suggestion I have for them is to get booster seats. The hibachi grills are high top seating and the high chairs are lower than the actual chairs, which are not high enough for toddlers. read more

I finally got myself and my family out here for some hibachi action! It was a lot of fun, even with only 3 in our group. My 10 year old daughter had fun but she didn't eat too much food. I got the red snapper, which was delicious! My partner got the shrimp and scallops, and he enjoyed them as well. I believe our hibachi grill cook was pretty green because he didn't get the pieces of zucchini into my mouth.... Instead I had them pelted at my face, head, chest, lap and behind me! Lol My daughter went through the same, but we all thought it was funny. The waiter was on top of everything, which was awesome. We left pretty full, and pretty buzzed because I got a cocktail and then had a LOT of sake squirted into my mouth (and my chin) which seemed a little excessive? All in all, we had a great time and laughed a lot! One of the owners came by to see if we were enjoying ourselves, which was really nice. We will be back!! The fifth star would come with the hibachi chef improving his aim a bit, and mixing the rice and sauces better... chunks of rice were still white, and not as good as rice from Takumi. There was something added to the snapper that I think was dried garlic, which stayed like hard bits on my fish, and wasn't the best mouth feel. My steak / filet was cut very large. So large I had to get a knife to cut one large chunk into 3 normal size bites. And after finally getting the hostess to come over (since as usual the waitress was nowhere to be found) I got attitude. "Well - I guess I can ask" she said. BTW - waitress stil hasn't shown up as I'm writing this. My party of 4 will likely be about $200. Hard pass on this place. read more
