He was bleeding everywhere, and I was only a few miles away. I explained the situation over the phone and the first thing I was asked was whether I was an existing client. Since I was in the area for business and my regular veterinarian is an hour and a half away, I told them no. The response was simply that they had no openings. Instead of helping an injured dog that was only minutes away, I was told to drive to Greensboro, over an hour away, while my dog continued bleeding. Thank you for nothing. If you advertise emergency care, it should be based on the urgency of the animal's condition, not whether someone has been there before. My dog was in pain, I was only a few miles away, and I was fully prepared to pay whatever it cost to get him treated. Instead, I was turned away because I wasn't already a client. What disappointed me the most was the complete lack of compassion from the person who answered the phone. There was no urgency, no empathy, and no willingness to help beyond sending me over an hour away. This experience left me with a terrible impression of the entire practice. When someone calls with a genuine emergency, they expect compassion and at least an attempt to help, not to be dismissed because they aren't already in your system. I will never recommend this veterinary office, and I'll be sharing my experience with anyone looking for emergency veterinary care in the area.
