Long story short is that i experienced racism when buying a phone, complainted to best buy customer service phone line and got nowhere. Left a review on google stating my experience the day it happened and best buy refused to acknowledge fault or racially charved comments and actions. I went in to purchase one and was met by Rich the general manager. I informed him of my desire to buy the phone since it was on sale and was told that it was coming up full price on their end. I showed him kn my phone that the Razr on bestbuy.com was half off and asked that they price match it. I was told that it wouldn't work and to just buy it online. Since I was already there I went ahead and did it so I could get it and go since it didn't make a difference to me. After buying online as directed I was told that I would have to wait an hour or better for the device to finish processing the payment through the fraud system. I was completely taken back by this because they were making it seem like I was trying to commit a crime by buying a phone. I got upset because this was racial profiling I stated that this was a waste of time because they could have price matched their own website. I've purchased a few items from them since moving to the area and have yet to experience any issues with their service or products. The inside of the store is organized even though the level of brightness feels slightly off. Several weeks ago, I bought a beer fridge as a place to store my domestic bottles and craft cans. Insignia -- Best Buy's house brand -- had a model listed at $229, originally $279. I'd seen similar products online and at Costco, but none were as cheap or had such positive feedback. I also purchased a drone ($99) that was delivered to the house a few days ahead of schedule. An older guy in the appliance section radioed for a curbside pickup, and 5-10 minutes later a younger dude loaded the mini fridge directly into my car's back seat. I really appreciated this, as it saved me from having to lug the heavy thing out to the parking lot by myself (in all likelihood dropping it on my foot, breaking both the fridge and several toes at once). * TL;DR * Prices are reasonable, the store is pretty well stocked, and my interactions with employees were pleasant enough. Curbside pickup was a helpful customer service option, especially in times of corona. Plenty of others have really lashed out at this Best Buy, but I found them to be totally fine. Don't expect to pick up items quickly. I was picking up a countertop appliance, signed in and saw numerous employees walking back and forth. There I was, behind someone else at the curb; God knows how long they were waiting. I waited about 20 minutes, parked the vehicle and marched in only to find that one of the nice employees was carrying it from one place another so he could place it on a 4 wheeler flat cart. Why they don't get the cart FIRST, I don't know. If I worked there, I would have gotten the cart over to the heavy item, THEN put it on the cart. He brought it out to the parking lot and helped me with it. After I got back on the road, THEN I get a text saying that it's ready to bring out to the curb, SUPER DUH! I walked into Best Buy to buy a TV a few days ago and I was APPALLED by the behavior of the staff! I brought my truck as I was going in to purchase a 70" Sony Bravia TV and they rode on the cart with my TV out into the front of the store and almost hit my truck! They laughed it off and said "it didn't hit your truck so why does it matter" I couldn't believe this and I was so upset I cried for 10 minutes once the TV was strapped in and I was in the car. I got home to set up the TV with my boyfriend so we can sit back and enjoy The Habib Show and when we finally got it all set up the screen was cracked. It seems that some people have the experiences they expect. I've had good experiences at the Bolingbrook location in the past and did this time as well. Sales person knew the ins and outs of the dishwashers we were looking at and was able to explain it succinctly to us. I feel like Best Buy really tried to screw me over. They were running a promotion a couple of weeks ago to preorder the new Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. If you pre-ordered you got $100 off the phone so it was only $812 versus $912 and they were offering some really good trade-in values for your old phone. They said my Samsung S7 Edge was worth $300 trade in. When I went in and talked to the sales person they told me that I could apply that $300 to the cost of the phone so the phone would only be $512 and I could spread that out over 24 months on my Verizon bill without interest which would make my monthly payment about $21.33. So today the new Samsung's are finally ready and I go in to pick it up. The sales person helping me today is doing his thing on his computer and then he asked to see my current phone. I don't know what he's doing, I thought he was resetting it to the factory settings. He hands it back to me and says your phone is not eligible for a trade in. I asked him why and he told me it was damaged. That threw me because the phone in my opinion was in perfect condition no scratches no cracks nothing. I asked him what was wrong with it and he said there was a pink hue showing through screen to screen. I can't believe and I'm looking at my phone I can see this pink hue and I told him I never noticed that before. He said you also have some screen burn-in and you can see some of the icons in screens that you shouldn't. He said you probably just got used to it over time and didn't notice it. He said he couldn't give me anything for the phone. I told him I want to speak to a manager and the manager came up and basically told me the same thing. I told the manager it felt like a bait and switch and to cancel my order and that I would buy my new phone elsewhere and he said that's fine and he told the salesperson to cancel the order which he did and I left. I went to Verizon and told him I wanted to upgrade to the new S9 Plus. I paid the full $912 and I asked if they had any offers for trade in. He said their promotion right now was buy one Samsung S9 get one free if you activate a new line which I didn't need to do. He said he could give me $120 store credit for my S7 Edge. I told him I wasn't interested in that and we just keep the phone. So now I'm paying $38 a month but it really is the principle of the matter. When I was ready to leave I told him about what Best Buy said and he looked at my phone and he said there is a little burn in but he said we would take that and give you the full trade in he said I'm surprised they didn't. He said we only won't give you a trade in if the screen is cracked broken or there's water damage. I suppose it's possible that this was happening slowly and that I was just getting used to it and didn't notice it until it was pointed out to me but part of me thinks that salesperson did something to my phone to make that happen so they wouldn't have to do the trade in. Bottom line is I'm not going to BestBuy for anything, anymore. There are other stores out there. read more

Should be zero stars. I purchased a Pioneer receiver November 27 2015. Six weeks later the Best Buy in Aurora sold me a four year protection plan and at the time the salesperson told me it provided complete coverage after the manufacturer's two year warranty expired. The salesperson provided a print out of the protection plan which clearly states " Coverage for hardware failure described in section 5.1 will begin when the manufacturer's warrant expires..." The receiver stopped operating end of October 2020. The Bolingbrook store refused to honor the warranty despite what their own protection plan clearly states. I' m done with Best Buy. I don't deal with companies that, in my opinion, failed to live up to their written contract. Before you buy a Geek Squad protection plan....make sure you know what you are getting into. read more

I had a service plan with the geek squad for my computer. It was shutting down while I was playing a game. I used their phone support and took it to the store twice. Each time it was a bit worse. Finally I gave up and purchases another computer. I gave the "broken" computer to my granddaughter. She knew a high school senior who worked on computers. He determined that the problem was a bad cmos battery. Since he replaced the cmos battery, the computer has worked fine. No shut downs. Don't trust your computer to the Geek Squad. The part that bugged me was that after I waited more and told another person I wanted to see a manager, the guy finally came back. If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. The staff here is extremely rude, dismissive, and don't understand the meaning of the word empathy. I recently purchased a game console and 2 games as a gift for my girlfriend. During this time, I was never told that games that are opened are not returnable even though I asked extensive questions on returning the console and the warranty associated with it. When I tried to return the game that wasn't what she wanted, I was brushed off with the rudest send off I have ever received from someone in a management position. Randy and Linda have no business being in a management position when they don't have the skills necessary to communicate with other people. In the last 2 weeks, I have spent about $6,000 at Best Buy. I find it ridiculous that someone would take the time to argue with me about returning a $30 game, and not the $1,000 iPad I bought the exact same day. I'm not really sure what Best Buy trains their associates on, or how they require that they conduct themselves. Whatever the case may be, this entire location needs to be retrained and taught proper communication skills. Upon communicating with a different Best Buy, I found out that I cannot return the game due to a copyright law for the State of Illinois. I'm not sure how hard it is for the ignorant associates at the Bolingbrook location to say "it's due to a copyright law," but needless to say I won't be taking my business back there ever again and a formal complaint against the management team was placed. read more

I love this Best Buy sometimes and I hate this Best Buy sometimes. Most of the time things work out for the best, but you may waste tons of time trying to get to that point. I think the main problem here is the stockroom. It seems as if no one knows what they actually have in store what makes it worse is if something is "in stock" at this location as listed on the website. When you go to pick it up in store, prepare for an hour long scavenger hunt to get the item you came for. Again, if you are persistent and have 8 million people look for it in the store, there is a 98.9% chance someone will find what you saw as "in stock" online. Most of the staff is friendly enough to help you. However, if you're not into playing electronic "Where's Waldo?" and would prefer to spend your time doing something else, I totally understand. I am not much of a big-ticket electronic or home entertainment buyer in the first place, so it has been at least five years since I've even set foot in a Best Buy location at all. I still am not, but I came in here looking for a pair of reasonably priced headphones, but left empty handed with a relatively poor experience. I came in here in late December, and first of all, the store itself was freezing. Not just chilly, but I'm thinking they may not have had the heat on at all. Plus, the store itself just seemed rather dull, dark and dreary. I made my way over to the headphone area, and looked first at prices and selection. They had a huge display of goods in the $150-300 range, which was totally out of my price range. Off to the side of the center display, they had some decently priced ones from $40-90, but the emphasis on "some." Perhaps about only 6-8 choices. I was looking at the rack, and had some questions about a pair of Sony headphones that ran about $50, but could not find an associate in the general area. I walked back over to the uber-expensive display to drool over what I couldn't afford, and all of the sudden, I was honed in upon by a salesperson/associate. After a bit of bantering about the expensive ones, and a great effort on his part to persuade, I told him I had some questions about the $50 Sony ones. The fire just went out of his eyes, once he figured out he was not going to get the big sale. He seemed to just lose complete interest, and answered next to nothing about the product I wanted to purchase. His answer to my question about background sound reduction was, "Yeah, I guess so. Maybe." Then, after that, he literally, just walked away, completely disinterested. I pretty much left after that, without making a purchase. I understand you may work on a commission, but don't treat your customer like crap, just because I don't have money dripping out of my ass for a overpriced pair of headphones.
