My son got a horrible virus on his computer from Myspace. It was causing the computer the run very slowly and it had nonstop pop-ups. I was frustrated because when his computer is down he wants to use mine, and I need mine for work. I took it in to Geek Squad to have the virus removed and to have some updated virus protection installed. When I went into the store, I told the salesman what was going on and he said he'd take care of the problem. While I was talking to the salesman, he kept trying to persuade me to purchase additional services like optimization and insisted I buy additional memory otherwise Id have big problems later down the road. I explained that its my sons computer, and that he doesnt use it for anything except music and social networking. He didnt need all the extra trinkets. He kept pushing the issue until I flat out told him if he didnt want to preform the services I asked for, and ONLY the services I asked for then I was taking my computer elsewhere. After that he was short with me and said the machine would be ready in tree days. I have never been so disappointed with customer service. If I go into Safeway to buy apples, nobody is going to pressure me into buying oranges as well. Three days later, I picked up the computer and the repairs were done, and I was charged $220 dollars. When I had gotten home I had found that the computer was running without any pop ups but still seemed to be extremely slow and not functioning like it had before it had been infected. I started doing some research on Geek Squad and I found a company called Secure Remote Support and called them completely out of curiosity, and was floored to learn their rates were MUCH lower than those of Geek Squad and they guarantee customer satisfaction or your money back. I asked them if they would diagnose the issues, which they did for free. They informed me that all of the infections werent removed and that there were still traces of the major infection as well as many many others that were affecting the speed and over usability of the machine. I asked them to document all of this, as they did, and then hired them to repair the problem, which they did. They offered me a upsell, which was a promotional optimization I took it, and it did what they said it would do. The computer appears to be working better than when I first purchased it actually, so I'm quite pleased. I was able to take that documentation and fax it into the headquarters, and file with the BBB to get my money refunded from Geek Squad. 15 day return policy for a car stereo is inadequate! It wasn't even a month and the Bluetooth fails to work properly. You are better off purchasing a car stereo from the local audio shops! read more

This was a decent visit for me. The one thing that was frustrating is that it took a long time to find someone to help me find a fit bit force. Once I was able to track someone down the were knowledgeable and helped me find it promptly. read more

I have made more than one open box purchase in this store. This time, I had to go back in because there was one small part missing. They gave me a new one and helped me purchase headphones. This is for the Modesto, CA Best Buy Store. Spoke to Josh Johnson today. My son bought me the Echo Plus the day after Thanksgiving for my Christmas present. The sale on the day was if you buy an Echo Plus you receive a free Philips Hue light bulb. When I opened my Christmas gift today I saw that we did not receive the bulb. Josh Johnson told me that he could see on my son's account that when the Echo Plus was purchased, the bulb was not scanned in. So he could see that we did not receive what was promised in the promotion. However, he refused to give me the free bulb, and kept telling me that he does not give things away for free. The best he could do is sell me the bulb (yes make me pay for the very bulb that he could see we did not receive for free the promotion). I asked to speak to another manage and he refused to allow me to speak to the store manager. He said he was not the store manager, and would not transfer my call to the store manager. I am so disappointed in this store. I will not buy from the modesto store again. I strongly suggest no one buys at this store again. read more

over the last 5 years I outfitted my entire house with electronics and appliances purchased from best buy with a positive outcome in regards to their knowledge and selection of available items to suit my needs, most recently needed to replace one of my work computers, I went to the store told Cody (salesman) what I needed from the computer and he recommended the Lenovo. I purchase, take back to the office, transferred all the data (3hrs) from old to new, set everything up as needed and seemed to be fine. next day I have a pixelated screen on both of the monitors (dual monitors) restarted computer, checked all cords, connections etc. plugged monitors into different computer and the monitors are good. determined something wrong with the new computer. took it back to Best Buy (30mins ea. way) they plugged it in to their monitor and determined it had a bad video card. offered me a new computer replacement or I could purchase a new video card and they would install for free, now this computer is 2 days old and they want me to purchase a new video card because the old one (2 days old) is defective! I choose to take a new computer, bring it back to the office plug everything in and 1 of the monitors won't come on? I switch cords and the problem goes to the other monitor. WTH? I call them up and they put a geek squad guy on with me who takes me through a series of checks (I had already done) and he tells me there must be something wrong with my monitors or the cords...argg..I know they are fine because I checked them on another computer here in the office! I load up the new computer along with my cables and monitors, drive back to Best Buy (30 mins ea.way) I wait in line for 40 mins at the geek squad counter, eventually they hook up the computer using all my cables and monitors and it doesn't work!! the lady played around on it and finally got the screens working, said it was a compatibility issue? ok, back to the office, hook it all up, transfer data (3hrs) reconfigure everything to my needs. at this point I realize that I lost 2 accounting programs in the transfer, should not be a problem I have the disk and the files are backed up, I put the disk in for quickbooks and discover the cd drive is not working. can not even be found in the settings. I call Best Buy again, talk to another Geek squad person who tells me to bring it back again. I think I'm done with this Lenovo computer and lack of support from Best Buy. I don't recommend this brand of computer, or recommend geek squad for computer needs! terrible experience!! read more

At this moment I am beyond upset, disappointed, unsatisfied, just utterly pissed the hell off. I went to the Best Buy location last Tuesday to make my Mac Book Pro Windows compatible. First of all I was pushed away by many employees that just stated they were understaffed. There were often moments that employees just glared at me me. I felt like I did not matter, I might as well have been invisible. I had to hunt somebody down in order to receive assistance. Assistance that I now wished I would have just walked out the door with nothing, but I was told by your employees to buy this vw program for eighty dollars and I did. I put the disc in my computer and it loaded. Well the program did not work. I went back the next day, the Geek Squad and another employee said o well that is to make it so you can use both on one screen but you need to buy windows which was $200.00. They also said that they purchase that I made the previous day was unnecessary. Money is not the issue, the issue is that my computer still did not work. I did not connect to the internet via the windows side, but I can on the Mac side. Well on Tuesday I went in again and asked immediately to speak to a manager. The manager was fully aware that I was upset, and matter of fact I pointed out to her who sold me the windows program and what he said to do. When the employee saw me he immediately put is head down like he was admitting he did something wrong. The manager on the other hand did not care, sympathize, or even apologize. She instead took me over to Geek Squad and had a girl I believe her name was Jaime assist me. Not once did the manager attempt to see how anything went. Jaime worked on my computer she installed the programs and they worked until now. My internet connection once again does not work on the Windows Side. She stated that I would be able to use it and I did for two days. Tonight when I am suppose to be working I can not. In essence, Best Buy works to make their quotes, not to help the customer. This company has cost me money for the products, gas money to get there, and my time. I will be returning bright and early in the Modesto location on Friday morning. I am not happy!!! I have never been treated like this at Best Buy. I do not know what has happened at this location but it has taken a step back. After my morning visit I will not be back. read more

My husband, toddler, and I went into the Best Buy in Sisk Rd. to buy a couple of Christmas gifts. While there, we spoke to a very helpful sales associate from Google With his help, we decided to purchase the new HP Chromebook. This location couldn't locate any, but said the Riverbank location had some and could hold one for us. Another sales associate went to call them to take care of this for us. The first phone call she made, the Riverbank location hung up on her. The second time she called, they put her on hold for 45 minutes! My family waited and waited and waited - with a hungry and tired toddler. The Sisk location was apologetic and were doing the best they could on our behalf. My frustration is with the employees at the Riverbank store. I realize it is the Christmas season, but their lack of concern for customer service is clear. They could have easily taken the call of their fellow Best Buy employee, taken our information, and been off the phone in just a few short minutes. I will not be shopping at the Riverbank location - the employees apparently don't care about customer satisfaction. read more

When the soda I was enjoying was inadvertently shared with my computer and caused its abrupt demise, I was both sad and a bit happy. I was happy not because my frosty beverage now made a carbonated swimming pool out of my computer but because now I finally had a valid reason to replace the old machine. I proceeded down to the nearest Geek Squad after cleaning up the sticky catastrophe. I browsed through the selection of desktop computers as well as some laptops. I finally found one that I was satisfied with and purchased it. I then spoke to someone at the Geek Squad counter to ask about my files on my "Pop Machine" sitting at home. They said they could recover the files and put them on my new laptop for me. All for an additional charge of course. I said okay and left my new laptop purchase with them and went and retrieved my old computer. After a few days pass, I call and ask about my computers and I am told they are not done with the service. I call back again in 4 more days and am now frustrated when I am told it is still not complete. Somewhat frustrated, I ask the 'technician' about the normal turnaround time for a service like this. When they tell me it can take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks, I explain to them that I need them much quicker than that and I am picking them up immediately and to have them ready for me. I pick them up and am somewhat upset about the fact that I have to wait 10 minutes in line, and listen to other customers complaints about time issues and that its their third time there, also another customer said this is the 3rd week his machine has been there. I go home and look online for some recommendations for a data recovery service that will actually help me. In my research I was able to find a company called Secure Remote Support and sent them my computers. Four days later I had both computers back, a few CDs with my data on them and all of my personal files had been transferred to my new laptop. After the experience I had just had, the only thing I can say is WOW. I couldn't believe how fast and efficient they were compared to Geek Squad they were. I wish I had found them before wasting my time with Geek Squad. Plus they installed an antivirus for my new computer and sped it up by removing all those annoying programs that come on every new computer, too! Thanks again. read more

big stores but always way overpriced for the quality of items they sell. and geek squad..... seriously im and iron worker and i know more about setting up a computer. the software quality that team uses is a joke and when you need a repair done they will probably break more then they fix Not to mention there rude to you from start to finish. used them once and had to reload the OS on my machine because the generic antivirus they us thought some of my OS files were viruses. Once i figured it out i goggled the software they used and found multiple reviews that had the same problem with the software. read more
