Let's start off by saying I did not read any comments on this location before I went in. This is not the location closest to me it is actually 45 minutes away. But this was the closest store that had the Samsung Galaxy s5 in any color but gold (looks like a bandaid to me.)so it was worth to drive considering this is the phone I'll be using for the next two years. So driving into the parking lot my first thought was Holy crap it's going to take forever because it was a packed lot. Walking in the door there was one employee who greeted me and I could clearly see the mobile department which was nice because our store it was hidden from me only being 5' 5" the sign was too low for me to see from the front door. So this locations signs were nice. At the desk there was a lady with another customer and a man helping her. Within one minute he greeted me and assured me he'd be right with me. Sure enough I told him what I needed (upgrading my phone) and scott got right into it. He reviewed my plan and asked if I wanted the edge or two yr contract. I told him 2 yr. Very nicely he asked if he can explain the differences. Wow! What a difference between plans! Scott explained if I went with edge not only would I be able to upgrade at 18 months instead of 24, but by going with edge I get the phone completely free, I pay 24.99 a month but get a 25.00 monthly bill credit so again it's free. And with edge the upgrade fee of 40.00 is also waived. I readily agreed to edge and he started off, about halfway through the process he realized that my switching to edge I also received a 50.00 gift card! so not only did scott save me the 40 upgrade fee he also saved me the entire price of the phone which was free but I still had to pay the taxes which was 45 and change. So my entire phone was free and I had 5 bucks left over. I was so impressed that I had my husband who just upgraded the day before online return his phone and get the edge program. So awesome Scott saved us 170 bucks and we walked out 10 bucks richer. He is awesome! From now on if I have to go to best buy I will make the 45 minute drive to that store. Thanks Scott! read more

I bought a GoPro Hero 4 black edition last year during November and recently it has been freezing a lot. I was pretty upset because I spent $500 on a camera that is advertised as being damage proof for the most part. I went into the store to talk to customer service to see what my options were. Ariana helped me and was such a big help. She informed me that I didn't have to worry, and was able to look up my purchase date and see that it was still covered by the manufacturer! Normally they don't cover the manufacturer but she called for her boss to come look over it. He came and shook my hand and introduced himself as Josh and that he was the general manager. I explained my story and he informed me he would take care of me as long as I show him my next footage on the camera! This store amazes me after reading all the other comments. Trash. Spent over 2000 just to be told the iteams that were purchased were not available and had been sold to somebody also then proceeded to make me wait an hour and had horrible attitude. Even better they sent me to Elk Grove to PICKUP the order that was placed at this location (Modesto). Upon arrival it was the same fucking thing they were laughing at us and then made us wait. They had the intentions of sending us home and waiting till we got home to give us the confirmation number for the order which would have made us drive back AGAIN for an Order they did have and were being stupid about and not giving to us. So wonder what the issue was that an order that was paid for couldn't be given to us and that at both locations employees were unprofessional and to say the less petty. Awesome service, needed a glass screen protector for my iPad Air and We grabbed one and had it installed, found out it was plastic instead of glass. Really wanted glass only service rep TJ helped us and looked in back looked in geek squad area finally called and found in Tracy store. The service we received from TJ was above and beyond anything we could expect he really went the extra mile. Many thanks and would definitely shop here again. Really care about the customer. Recently went there to buy a new point and shoot camera for my youtube channel. Just looking to spend about $300-$400 and ended up spending $700 due to how great the service was from Bryan in cameras. I was wanting to spend it but didn't know if it was worth it. He helped me compare and contrast other cameras and put up with me taking about an hour to sort everything out with my bank. VERY good service! read more

We recentlly purchased a washer and dryer from Best Buy. We had already been to a few different stores looking at products and eventually made the purchase from Best Buy. The sales clerk, Alex, was extremely knowledgeable about the product. She was friendly, helpful, and after the purchase she actually sent us a thank you card. The delivery guys {free delivery and haul away from Best Buy :) } were also efficient and friendly. Our experience in the computer area a week later was not quite the same...but appliances deserves a round of applause! read more

Let me start by saying this is the first time I've ever been on yelp. I'm here because of the terrible, terrible customer service I have received from this company. I will never set foot into a Best Buy ever again which is saying a lot because I have spent thousands of dollars there in the past. In the last two years I have bought an $800 Dell top of the line laptop and $300 64GB IPod touch, both for my teen age boys. On both occasion I was under the impression that the $250 extended warranty covered everything. I even asked the sales person if this covered accidental damage as these are for teen age boys. Both time I was reassured that this was the best coverage they offers. 4 months after I purchased the laptop the screen cracked. I was advised by the geek squad that the problem was user damage and not covered by my $250 warranty. I asked to speak to the store manager and was told "he's to busy to see you now" I advised him I could wait and he said I would need to call him and make an appointment. I called their customer service department 3 times and each time I was told that this would need to go up to a service manager and he would call me back. That never happened. After my 4th phone call to Best Buys customer service I gave up and made the stupid mistake of continuing to spend hundreds of dollars a year there. Last month my son cracked the screen on his iPod, we took it in today and the awesome Geek Squad person advised us that he couldn't fix because the circuit board on the bottom left side is showing and the $200 warranty doesn't cover that either. It's amazing how easy Best Buy will take your money for their extended warranty and than find every excuse in the book to not cover the product when you try to use it. I think in the future all of my electronic purchases will now come from Costco where they know how to take care of their customers. read more

I was shopping for a new 4K television last Sunday 10/23/16. I looked up several televisions on-line to review pricing and compare brands. I went to Best buy in Modesto, Magnolia center. I reviewed several 4k televisions and pick one out. I had an ad for the same model for about $1500.00 less. I was counting on the price match to get a reduction in the price of the television. The sales person said I'll take it to the manager but, we only price match authorized dealers. To make a long story short; the Manager said he couldn't price match the ad I was using because it was not an authorized dealer. I left the store, I ordered the television as per the ad. I received the television yesterday. Brand new in the box for $1500.00 cheaper than Best buy! I've been disappointed with the Magnolia product in the past. I purchased a Samsung PN59D700FFXZA in 2012. The main PCB board went out. The Geek Squad came by and said the television is no longer supported by Samsung. The Magnolia products are somewhat good quality but over priced and lacking support! read more

Just bought a tower for husband from Modesto, CA Best Buy. Since this was replacing one that had just been fried in a power surge, I thought it prudent to buy the Geek Squad Service as well. This was supposed to include 24/7 remote support. He could not get Explorer to work. So he called the remote support. The response he rec'd was a rude, "yah, sounds like a software issue. Bring it in and we'll get it back to you in a few days." Excuse ME? What kind of remote support is that? We are an hour away from the nearest Best Buy. This is a brand new tower! And this is the best they can do? So much for 24/7 remote support. He called HP support instead and they walked him through how to reinstall Explorer and get is working. took about 15 minutes. Was suppose to arrive 2/04/2020, it didn't the next day the business they use to ship tell me they don't know where my package is. I called Best Buy customer care and they tell me they can cancel the order and I can go into the store and get my refund since I paid cash. I even had a claim number with that information. I get to the store and they say they can't help me, a check has to be mailed. I paid cash, corporate said I can get my money back from you since you took it ,now you can't help me? I am in the market for a TV and found one that I liked online. I have been hearing about their price match program and though I would give it a try because the competition was going to take 5 days to ship the TV. I called during my lunch break to ask is they would price match and they said they would and I just need to go to the front desk. I then went into the store and they said they would need the new manager to match the price. After having to wait for about 45 min and answering weird questions they told me they would price match but the TV was not in stock. Then when I finally went to pay for the TV the expert rang up the price to be $225 higher than the competition because they "forgot" to include tax in the bottom line price. The representative then said he couldn't do anything and got his manger. Two people walked out and while the manger stood their another representative gave me they story that they were already loosing money on the TV and could not match the competitions bottom line price. He then offered to sell me cables, surge protectors, in home set up service, and products with high margin. The manager did not say a word and walked away. It was a complete waste of my time!! I was in the store for more than an hour!! I don't mind if they couldn't price match but they should not wasted my time when they know what their bottom line price was. What a joke. pretty good location, gets kind of warehouse-y sometimes, so it can get overwhelming. they have a really wide selection though. if you don't mind waiting a couple days, amazon is really the way to go for anything you need to order. the in store tv brand (i think its called magnolia) is high quality, but parts and service through the warranties are only available at best buy, which if you live near one isn't a big deal, but if you're going to invest in a piece of expensive electronic equipment like that, i suggest going with a bigger brand like panasonic or sony. the people who work there normally aren't pretentious or snobby like tech guys can get (go to radioshack in the mall on a sunday afternoon). read more

You call them and they tell you how your appointment was canceled for no given reason! However they can still give you that appointment on an emergency basis for and inflated rate! I used to be a Best Buy fan. Not anymore. I am extremely disappointed with my recent BestBuy experience, specifically their in-store pickup from items purchased on BestBuy's website. One day recently, I placed an order for a digital camera on their website at about 2:30 PM in the afternoon. After not receiving my "your order is ready to be picked up at the store" email after waiting 5 hours (it' supposed to take 45 minutes max), I called the store, only to find out that my item was no longer in stock. This took up about 30 minutes of my time. I then had to call BestBuy dot com to cancel the order, where I waited on hold for 48 minutes before finally reaching a human being. If you go on Best Buy's website and look at their own forums, there are tons of people having the same issue. I think now that Circuit City has gone under, Best Buy has adopted a "phone company" attitude towards running their business. But they'd better watch out... Wallyworld is closing in fast and is immensely better organized. In the future, Best Buy will be very low on my list of stores to purchase electronics from, no matter how low the price is. read more

My son went in here to buy a charger for our phones, he spoke to someone in the wireless department to see if anyone could help him purchase one phone cable through them instead of the mile long line up front. One of the associates he spoke to was very rude to my son as in the fact he couldn't help him there because he didn't necessarily have a register in front of him. So my son asked said associate if there was anyone who could help him for a second to possibly avoid the line, which isn't the problem, he would happily sit in line if there was no other solution but at this point the associates have been so rude to him he just decides to put the cable on the counter and leave. As he's leaving the associate now goes to the front of the store and talks to security I guess, who now stands up in my son's way as he's going to leave the store tried to grab my son so my son now fearing this security guard and store associate surrounding him as he's trying to leave the store they try to verbally assault him so he turns to encounter them where now the security guard tells him he needs to leave, my son refuses because of how they treated him so the associates push my son trying to get him out, in which my son responded by pushing him back to get him away in case this fully grown man twice his size swings on him. Then after the incident I called best buy to confront them and they were very rude about it and wouldn't do anything except try to say my son pushed their associate first whick was not the case. My question is, does best buy support child abuse? Or assault on minors? Is this really where we want to buy our family electronic equipment? read more

Had a horrible experience with geek squad! Technicians do not know what they are doing! Had my dryer fixed Through them & after the 3rd attempt still had the same problem! When I tried to get them to fix it the 4th time and letting them know it's not solving the problem, they said the only way to fix it again would be to charge! Having them come out 4 times in 5 months at this point! Fixing a problem to last over 30 days so that the repair doesn't have any warranty left so you can charge the customer again sure sounds like a scam! read more

Best Buy stores are pretty much the same no matter where you go problem is... for me that's not so great because when i shop i like to look around a bit when i do.So it seems the moment you walk through the door it's like a silent alarm goes off and and some random employee is assigned to stalk you pretending to re- stock the shelves or organize etc.....while i understand that thieves are a thing and you cant tell at a glance who is and is not well... not really assumptions can be made about how someone looks but more often than not assumptions are incorrect. Iv'e gotten so annoyed by this retail store's stalking that i had devised a way to return a portion of this frustration and entertain myself at the same time so now when i am being stalked i grab a stack of items varying prices and sizes carry it around the store till the stalker walks away put all the items back on the first shelf i see grab the item i was shopping for or just keep browsing... one time in particular there was this lord of the khakis situation that happened where like 4 employees where convinced i was stealing and getting away with a ton of stuff lol i took nothing but they did not know that i figure they have this coming in bad karma for judging rando's in public so they follow me clear up to the entry doors like they were sure the alarms are going to go off they follow me out the doors i turn around turn my pockets inside and out and just start laughing like you would not believe one guy storms back into the store like way faster than the rest of them his face is so red from anger/embarrassment probably because instead of busting me i turned this whole thing around on them and I don't know if he quit was fired or just went home for the day but this guy comes out with his jacket storms to his car and hauls it out of there just loses it the other 3 guys had previously slow strolled it back in so i guess what i'm saying here is i think the practice of having your employees stalk customers isle to isle like that is a bad thing you can always stop them at the door if the alarm goes off i do not see how anyone can steal in a store with that many cameras with isles that open anyway without someone seeing it either with there eyes or the cameras that are everywhere so why not let your customers shop in peace Best Buy? read more

Hello. I've been to many other best buys. This is not far the worst one. The general manager is currently not here and it is noticed. Although the other staff were okay the manager, June, is very entitled and dramatic. I asked to have a chair to sit and type on a laptop. If you paying 500 bucks let alone any money at all, you want tot make sure you get the right price for a device you are comfortable working with. We agreed to let me use their bench to let me sit down and sample the feeling of using the laptop I was trying out. She called me dishonest and said I was "playing". Yes June. I was playing. Playing with Microsoft Word. Devin was fantastic. He saved the day and was VERY VERY HELPFUL. My recommendation would involve firing June and promoting Devin in any way he pleases. I've never had much more help someone computer wise and at the same time the worst customer service from a manager. Interesting experience. read more

I bought a Toshiba Laptop from BestBuy at the end of August. The mouse pad stopped working after one month, so I brought it in and spoke to the manager. I was told that they only cover their products for 15 days and that I should have bought the extended warranty. 15 DAYS is ridiculous!!!!!! Even Toys R Us covers their products for 90 days and those are Toys that are played with by children! They did offer to ship it back to the manufacturer for $35.00.....what customer service! I have heard that BestBuy is terrible to deal with if you have a problem....I should have listened. I'm glad I didn't give them anymore of my money! Worst service EVER!! BECAREFUL when applying for a credit account, I had my identity stolen from one of their employees. As a result my credit elsewhere has been a nightmare. One of their employees had the beers to steal my identity, intercept my credit card and add herself to the credit account without my consent! Not to mention that she maxed the card with a balance over $1,500.00. Leaving a debt of $1,900.00 causing my credit score to lower and my credit limits everywhere else to be lowered as well. For instance on JCPenney my $1,200.00 limit lowered to $300.00. Also the geek squad speed of service is ridiculous, anything you take back to fix consumes a ridiculous amount of time. I've spoke to the general manager myself about a few of their problems all he said was that he couldn't do much at store level, that he would have to contact his store marketing manager. Since November I've have heard a single word from him or anybody else. I've tried to get help from their online bestbuycustomer service they also never replied leaving me to face my credit nightmare on my own. I hate Best Buy. They have a 14 to 15 day return policy on all items and all they would give me is in store credit. It was an in case cover for MacBook Pro wrong size and they didn't have my size for the return. Amazon is wonderfully, Costco is wonderful, and their return policy, Walmart is wonderful Best Buy sucks. I have spent thousands of dollars at Best Buy I bought washers and dryer's a 55 inch OLED TV LG two other TVs computers and this is the way they are. Well what can I say about Best Buy electronics in Modesto. I do have a lot to say and not good. When I purchased my wife's iPhone 6 Plus the employee asked us if we were going to get insurance for the phone. That it would cover any defects or anything else that might happen to the phone ( cover 100% ) she said just bring it back to the store and we will take care of the rest. A year later the phone stop working so my wife takes it back to Best Buy in Modesto they told her that they were going to send it to Apple for repairs this is 10 days later they had the phone. She called the sore back and they told her that she had to pay 250 for the repair even with the insurance, I understand that their is a deductible but it only 150 and I'm fine with that but 250 it a ripoff. they are given her the rounds rounds. I guess they want to play hardball. Next my attorney will make contact with them. They are so good in charging and taking people's money and given us the promises, but when it come time for repairs they are shitty. read more

This review is for the customer service department. We purchased an item a couple weeks ago at the SF location and asked about the tax exemption they offer since we are business owners. We were told in SF to bring the receipt and the tax exempt form (our sellers permit) in order to get a refund for the taxes we paid in the item. They also said we could fill out a form and mail it or fax it in but it could take up to 3 weeks to receive the tax exempt card to use at Best Buy. So we chose to go to the store to get it instantly instead of waiting. Hubby goes in the store while i wait in the car with our kid who is already impatient from the 30 min drive to this store. He then calls me and says they won't give him the tax exempt card bcz we also need to show a business license. At this point I'm like WTF? Since when is this needed? We've made multiple purchases with multiple retailers in the past 5 years and have never been asked for our business license in order for a tax exemption, all they need is a sellers permit number. The employee was obviously mistaken. So hubby comes back to the car frustrated and i am not about to drive another hour to pick up the business license so i proceed to walk into the store with my irritated 4 yr old and ask to speak to a manager. I explain the situation to her and I'm obviously irritated at their little effort to help me and it's noticeable. I asked her why i was being asked to show a business license and why isn't it the same procedure online. I tried to show her the online page where it ONLY asks for the sellers permit but she pretty much blew me off and by her tone of voice and body language i could tell she was super annoyed with me. My husband proceeded to tell her all the previous employee had to do was explain to him that she didn't know how to process the transaction instead of giving him false information and acting like she didn't want to help. He suggested she further train her staff so they could improve in the customer service field. To which the lady was only half listening and pretty much acting like he was crazy. She starts filling out our info on the computer without once apologizing for the confusion and misinformation and waste of time, instead my husband tries to further explain the situation and offer advice to which she replies "I'm working on it sir ok I'm working on it." With complete attitude. I have 5 kids i know damn well when I'm getting even a hint of attitude. I work in customer service as well and I sure as hell aren't going to make any customer feel uncomfortable or stupid EVEN IF they were wrong. That's just not how you do things. It starts at the top, i can see why the first employee thought it was right to be rude and unhelpful, because the so called "manager" allows that. They all seriously need to be retrained and maybe put some posters up on the wall so they know how to differentiate documents. At one point during the process she asked to see our sellers permit which was the first thing I handed her along with ID and she didn't even know what it was, she didn't know WHAT IT WAS!! lol. Excuse me lady; it's right in front of you. I mean i understand people not knowing what the document looks like if they don't have a need to know but if you're working at a job that requires you to process these type of transactions maybe it's a good idea to learn the documents, rules and regulations requried so that next time you save everyone time and save yourself from the embarrassing situation you put you and your staff in. Finally we were able to get our tax exempt card, it took 20 mins longer than it should have but we got it, and the "manager" admits to her employee not knowing what we were talking about, still she offered no apology but sent us on our way with a whole lot of attitude. read more

Advise: Never Buy Any type of Apple Product from Best Buy store. They have the worse Return Policy. I bought a Mac from them I was one day over their so called 15 days return policy they would not return it and Not even give me a store credit.
