I had an amazing experience at Best Buy Marketplace on March 11! Ian was very knowledgeable and helpful during my visit! Ian showed me three different products: a television, a sound bar converter as well as a car phone holder. For each product he offered options, listened to my needs and helped me select the best product for my needs. I appreciate Ian's efforts. If you need to talk to a live person at this store, good luck. I was pre-charged for some Geek Squad service that was not needed. I was told I'd get a refund, which never happened. In trying to contact someone there to get the refund processed, the automated phone screener would only send me to their national on-line service center, which requires a 15-20 minute wait to find out they cannot help you. I am exteremely sorry I tried to use Geek Squad and will never use them again. (The review would be 0 if that was an option.) read more

This is in a good location and is the only one around for folks who are in the city. I ordered online and had to pick it up. This was pretty seamless except when you got in line. Staff is pleasant enough but also seem kind of apathetic. They usually have pretty good sales on certain items. It's been a long while since I w been at this location. I like Best Buy and have had good luck with them. From cameras to computers. The sales people are good too. They always seem ready to help. And they have a wide variety of products. This week I wanted a pair of speakers for my laptop. I went to Marketplace where I usually go and looked around. I first stopped in the TV division just to look at the TV's, quite a selection. I spoke with a young man by the name of Jacob who knew his stuff. From there I strolled over to the computers and speakers area of the store.I spoke with a young man by the name of Elmas. He was quite knowledgeable, knew his stuff also. I told him what i was looking for and he showed me a few kinds. For my uses and needs, I found a pair of inexpensive ones which work just fine. Best Buy prices are generally favorable but sometimes a bit high but I'm pleased with them. read more

I returned a Motorola phone today at Henrietta store as it wouldn't work. I bought it yesterday. I was told that since I had reset the phone that I was going to be charged$45. Wouldn't you reset a phone you are returning If it had some of your information on it? Then she asked for the receipt which she accused me of throwing at her. I did not do that. Have we become that sensitive that I took it out of mywallet and dropped it on the counter. She went to talk to the manager and he came over to her and asked if everything was ok with her. She returned the money minus the $45. I was told yesterday if there was anything wrong with the phone to return it and I'd be reimbursed. This place is horrible. Bought a Sony speaker and they said they had one in stock. They spent 45 minutes trying to find it but couldn't find it. my time wasted. They said they would deliver it and would come the next day, it took 5 days. The drop off was for a 4 hour window from 11:30 to 3:30 PM. That day they called in the morning at 9 said they would be there in a half an hour. Ugh! I went home to meet them. It took them an hour to get there. My time wasted again. Never again this place is horrible and unorganized. I should have bought from Amazon who had plenty in stock, it was the same price, and I would've had it delivered the next day and not had to go through all of this rigmarole. I am a huge fan of the geek squad, they always help me out with great technology advice and product recommendations. I have gone to them a few times for their help and have never been disappointed. I buy a lot of computer accessories here because of the larger selection and they seem to have more items on sale here then a lot of other electronic stores. Large selection of DVD's and CD's, check out the $5 specials! If they don't have something your looking for they can order it online and have it shipped right to the store for easy pick up. I went to Best Buy to pick up an Amazon Fire Stick so I could watch the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. (My favorite two teams are the Green Bay Packers and whoever is playing Da Bears.) This used to be simpler - there was a Fire Stick. Now there's Fire Stick Lite, Fire Stick, Fire Stick 4k...so I went looking for a Blue Shirt. Several were back in home theater, holding a caucus of some kind. I was getting a little perturbed when I approached a very large Blue Shirt that looked like he could have been a defensive lineman. He asked if I needed help and I replied, "You look like a man who knows everything there is to know about Amazon Fire Sticks. That's what I need!" He nodded, and immediately solved the mysteries. I was remiss in not paying attention to his name badge, too. I selected my Fire Stick and headed for the register - game time was approaching! I got to the apartment, opened the box (I've done this installation before, at home) and plugged in everything. I powered everything up, the Fire Stick splash screen did its little dance, and...oh, oh. The dreaded screen that says, "Having trouble locating the remote. Press and hold the (icon - home) for 10 seconds. I did. No response. Did it again. Nothing. The screen suggested holding the remote closer to the Fire Stick. I stood behind the TV and held the remote right next to the blasted Fire Stick. Nuthin'. Okay, maybe the included batteries are bad, so I switched to new ones. Did the same dance - nothing. Nada. Gnorscht. Obviously, the remote was bad and there is no workaround. So, I boxed the whole thing up again and watched the game on my cell phone - a far cry from a 50" hi-def television. I returned the Fire Stick to Best Buy today and told the customer service rep it didn't work, expecting to recite the entire tale of woe I spelled out for you two paragraphs ago. Nope. No questions asked. The credit should appear on my credit card any minute now. My husband and I went to the Henrietta location today as his beats wireless ear pods stopped working. We walked into the store and were greeted by Mike C. an AT&T certified advisor. What a pleasant associate he quickly looked at the pods, looked us up in the system saw we had purchased protection plan, listened to us about the problem and brought us over to geek squad. We were serviced and completed within 20 minutes. Hats off to Mike C. we are never treated like a good customer and he was just great! we will definitely only use this location. I am not a smart man (just picture me saying it like Forrest Gump, because that's how I talk). So it was no surprise that I left my phone charger hundreds of miles away when I came to Rochester. Now, nobody ever calls me or anything, but I do like to have my phone on just in case I ever make a friend. So I came to Best Buy to get a new charger. After carefully perusing the iPhone charger selection, I decided to go with the options that indicated the least amount of price gouging. When I brought them up to the register, they rang up for about $45 (60%) more than they were marked on the shelf. I protested, showed the nice cashier where I saw the prices, and she discounted the items accordingly. It was all surprisingly painless, despite the misunderstanding. To recap, I have some advice for you: 1. Remember your phone chargers when you pack. 2. Try not to get price gouged. 3. Pay attention at the register, and if you come across a nice Best Buy lady, consider yourself a lucky, lucky man. read more

I get stuck on automation waiting on someone in computers, tech support, manager - never get a live human. And I've hollered at automated female several times. She doesn't listen. I usually go to best-buy like 1-2 times a month... Like to look around (DVD, laptop, tablets, tv, camera, etc...) I usually buy my toner here, it's cheaper than Amazon by $10 (not including shipping tho, but I have student prime anyway)... The service at Best Buy are always the same, most workers don't even know what their talking about (they have to look at the description or ask the geek squad). I have a Elite Plus Reward card, you do get special discount/offer on holiday/Black Friday for that. I've believe you also get reward points for using your debit card at hundred of different restaurants. They also sell DVD under $5, I usually get those since I can't watch movies online on the train to NYC (upload/download limit). Tips: Best Buy does do "price matching" with several local store/online retails (such as Amazon). read more

I am typically an online shopper, but sometimes you NEED to go to the store to test a product out. I was looking for a camera, canon brand. At first, there was NO ONE even around to help us/ask us if we needed help, and the Jamie appeared - she was INCREDIBLY knowledgable and was able to tell me the differences between camera choices and also educate me on my on going cell phone vs. camera debate. Once we were done in the camera section - Mike in cell phones helped us compare an iPhone X to a camera - which he even said, a real camera is better. This was the first Best Buy in the area, and I still see it as one of the best. The employees are always helpful and this location is really well maintained. My brother keeps close tabs and always gets great deals on DVDs, video games, and accessories. Buying recently released items won't always get you the best savings, but after a few months, this is the best store in the area to buy from. I prefer to go for the open-box items from the Magnolia department for better quality products and the best markdowns. Like any major store, keep in mind that the salespeople are just salespeople; do your own research before coming in. I know a lot of people who come in and buy something on their first visit, ultimately growing dissatisfied with their purchase. Whether it is due to lack of features, build quality or performance, the root of the problem was lack of research. Play around with the cameras for a bit, do some reviews, maybe compare TVs at one or two other stores before committing to a purchase. The service and return policy here is pretty good, but don't get suckered into buying something you won't be 100% satisfied with. read more

It was really, really crowded and I must have had 5 different employees ask me if I needed any help. Two of them stood and talked specifics with me as well. I came here to pay my bill, waited in line for awhile while one cashier was helping out a customer. There were a lot of employees just standing around just chatting. They USED to ask for my ID when paying my bill. Like seriously who else would any to pay my bill?!?!?! Ridiculous company policy. I can understand if I was picking up an item or returning something but for paying a bill. I gave the cashier my statement and he asked whether or not I had my credit card on me and I replied no. He said I had to enter my full account number on the screen. I'm sure he could have simply scanned my statement since there was a barcode on it. Daughter and I brought our phones to the geek squad to get new batteries and had a most pleasant experience. We were helped by a wonderfully capable gentleman by the name of Sterlin and he was both knowledgeable, and a master multi-tasker. We had appointments for service and although there were a steady stream of appointments coming in, Sterlin managed to simultaneously take care of our service requests as well as handle intake on a number of other customers technical situations. I went in here to pick up my pre order iPhone 11 pro max and to get a Apple Watch. I got to the store when they opened at 10am sept 21st and it took me until around 530pm to get everything I needed. It was a LONG day but it was not Best Buy's fault but AT&T as they were down and were not properly staffed since the release of the new iPhone and Apple Watch. I do want to shout out to the associate Leo Ramos at Best Buy for helping me the entire day and being super helpful and nice during the 8.5 hours I was there. Frustrating experience with the Geek Squad at Best Buy in Henrietta today. Made an appointment to have my cracked iPhone screen repaired. Showed up to be told they only had one technician and he was sick. No attempt made to notify me or anyone else who will be showing up later today. The guy at the counter said it's too hard to contact people. Really- you're an electronics store who can't figure out how to use basic technology like email or robocall to inform your customers. Terrible BB Customer Service Experience I bought a $248 Nextbase dash cam from BB online and picked it up in Henrietta on 1/14/20. After numerous problems and attempts to correct the issues with the BB Tech Support in the UK , I returned the dash cam to BB Henrietta on 2/14/20. I explained to the BB service dept.clerk that the cam was unusable and not recording anything. TS did not have a solution so I asked for either a refund or store credit. The service manager jumped in and said that I couldn't receive either because the purchase occurred 1 month ago and refunds/exchanges can only occur in the first 15 days. I responded that it has a 1-year warranty and her response was BB does not cover warranties. I would need to contact Nextbase in the UK for warranty issues. After discussing this further, she said I could only exchange the Nextbase cam with an identical unit in the store. I searched the store and there were no employees available and no Nextbase products on the shelves. It is clear why BB is a failing company and Amazon is thriving. BB has no merchandise, few employees, rigid policies that are not communicated to customers either verbally or in writing, and terribly rude CS supervisors. Buyers beware of Best Buy. There are plenty of alternative businesses that are well stocked with quality electronics, provide competitive prices, have knowledgeable employees and are interested in providing positive customer experiences. read more

You get what you pay for. As long as you know exactly what you want, if they have it in stock (call first, their inventory on the website isn't accurate) and you have a team of explorers to help you find it in the cavernous cacophany of the store, you're good to go. You might save fifty bucks off a microwave compared to a retailer or another big-box store. That's not chump change. But what if you're actually trying to get sales help from knowledgeable employees? You know, the kind that brick-and-mortar stores provide? The half-dozen times I've been there to make an on-the-spot purchase - say, when the TV or the microwave breaks - it's been a customer-service disaster. I'm sure there are some helpful people who work there. However, my experiences have been that the place is staffed primarily by passive-aggressive nerds. You know, those guys who look like they spend all their spare time whacking away at their, uh. . .PlayStation in Mom's basement. They stand around in little klatsches, yapping with each other and ignoring customers. If you are so uppity as to approach them politely with a question, they'll ignore you for a few moments, laugh with their creepy buddies like a bunch of high-school girls, and then give you the wrong (or totally vague) instructions about where to find what you're looking for in the store. Show you where it is? Help you decide what you want? Um, no. Once you've found that area or that item, you're still on your own. But take heart. You've now joined the ranks of the Famous Explorers. Lewis? Clark? Shackleton? Their expeditions were far more comfortable than a visit to Worst Guy (my DH's nickname for this place). Never fear. if you're still hungering for a human touch, at checkout you WILL have to stand there through numerous requests for your personal information, the drone about useless warranties, etc.plus the "did you find everything you were looking for?" routine. I am so fed up with the business practices of this company that I needed to post in a public forum with a "Buyer Beware": The sales staff is kind, friendly and helpful. My complaint has nothing to do with them. For the second time in a few years (and enough now that I will not purchase from BB ever again) they have pulled what I consider akin to the "Bait and Switch" on me: Twice now, they have spent time with me in the store on a product I was interested in (computers, TV's and sound systems, always major purchases), only for me to come back a week later with the price of the exact product jacked up, and jacked up substantially. In this most recent incident, it was a $350 product they jacked up $40. Ten years or more ago, almost all companies would quickly offer the customer the same price, if the customer was recognized as having been there, spent time with the sales people, and came back within a reasonably short time. A great business practice, and one that retains customers, and is simply the-right-thing-to-do. Best Buy doesn't do this. Not only do they not do it, the management is borderline snide about it. We have been told twice now "Naw, I don't think we're going to do that." A sort of "too bad for you, sucka!" mentality. In each instance the employees fully recognized us, remembered our buyer's interest and intent, knew were were close to purchase... And this is what we get. So Dear Best Buy: We are through with you. We've given you guys plenty of business over the years, even having racked up credits with your store in the process. Plenty of big ticket items. This business practice is unacceptable and intolerable. We will continue to visit your store for shopping and information...and then take the info home and go to our trusty old Amazon and buy it there instead. This is NOT an enthusiastic review of Best Buy... but since they've survived this long in this economy I have to give them props for that (versus the fate of Rosa & Sullivan's, Rosa's, Hill TV, Lechmere, Circuit City, Yes/Silo, Sound Chamber, JB Sound, Sound Concepts, etc...) With the exception of a few specialty electronics stores, Best Buy is it (Sears is phasing out their brown box goods, from what I can see)... though their biggest competitor is not local, it is Amazon. Let's face it...there's not much margin in electronics these days. Hence the push towards service plans and the services offered by the Geek Squad. Still, if you want to patronize Best Buy, this is the biggest and best in the area. Much larger floorspace, the staff is (generally) more attentive, and the proximity of other stores (Rowe Photo and DAVE) must keep them on their toes. I will say it is refreshing to walk around without being needled too much by sales staff... however, this also means that you're on your own, since NO commission for sales people means that they get paid the same whether or not you buy product. read more

Well, kudos to Best Buy for being the only place in metropolitan Rochester to have standard C13 to 5-15P power cords handy when I desperately needed them. Reserved via their website for pickup, and they were ready within half an hour (with a bonus for having bought them through Skymiles Shopping). What I didn't expect is that the Customer Service desk and online orders pickup desk would be so poorly organized, with no agent available to cover order pickups. When someone did finally call me over, I got an argument about a Federal ID not being acceptable identification (funny - I can get across the US border with it...), but they finally accepted my driver's license after I dug it out. I can't comment more on the store, as I didn't venture more than 10 steps away from the desk by the door, but even in that small space customer service seems a bit foreign here. Unless I'm in dire need, I won't be back. read more

Extremely disappointed in Best Buy and the Geek Sqad service. My husband and I are looking into mounting 3 TV's in our home. Nothing big,just want TV's flat on the wall. We inquired about the pricing about a week ago and was told each TV would be $150. Seemed a little pricey especially since my uncle said it was half that price just 2 years ago. However, the young woman from customer service said it was cheaper to buy the technology protection plan($199). With the plan all services are discounted and some services (viruses etc. are free). So the TVs to mount would be $50 each. The sales woman said it would be cheaper to buy the plan. After considering the pro's and cons we decided to purchase the plan and pay for the mounting. This time the young man asked if there was any TV's over a fireplace and I replied there was one. After swiping the credit card he said we were all set. Never thought there were any additional fees since we paid up front. The young man never mentioned buying the mounting brackets ahead or having to buy them from Best Buy. The guy finally shows up (15 minutes late). And starts asking about the TV's. The guy never charged us the $80 extra for the fireplace TV. Ok I did tell the salesman but ok. Then he ask about the mounting brackets. When we told him that we didn't buy them ahead of time, he goes to the truck and says his is $100 a piece. The same brackets are found at Walmart on Amazon and at Target with the most expensive only $33!!! So in all we would be spending $800 with this tech plan that was supposed to save us money! What a rip off!!! They made it sound like the tech plan had so many perks and really it's just a plan that cause you to spend more with hidden fees!!! When we mentioned that to the manager, he shook his head in agreement and refunded all our money!!! Beware!!! read more

I got a large unexpected bonus at work, so I wanted to treat myself to a nice flatscreen LCD TV since the one I have is old school. It was Labor day weekend and I thought maybe I could score a good deal. I went with two friends and we walked around the TV section and began browsing. There were probably about 7 employees in the TV section just talking amongst themselves. I was ready to buy my TV right then especially since I had 2 guys with me who would be able to help me get it set up at my place. I am REALLY big on customer service and refuse to give my money to a company that has horrible customer service. After them not helping me, I figured I would give them one last chance. So i walked by the counter that most of the employees were standing at and said blatantly out loud to my friend "Gee, I really want to buy a TV today, if only someone would help me I would buy one right now".....crickets... So clearly I didn't buy one, and will for as long as I live never give a single dime of my money to such a HORRIBLE company. What kind of retail sales business doesn't offer commission to their employees?! I'm sure if those kids got commission they would have hounded me the second I walked into the TV section! Ordered an item on line picked it up I mention the price match guarantee which they checked and was told they found it but the system was to busy and I should call back later to receive it. After contacting the store I was told they couldn't do it over the phone. I then called a toll free number and was told they couldn't find the item that I was looking at on my computer.
