They seem like they actually care and genuinely appreciate you coming in. Also, the reviews are true, the portions are HUGE! Half the time I don't expect the lid to even be closable as I'm watching them pack food into my container (since I always get it to go). It's also really cheap. Worst Chinese Kitchen. Congratulations, until tonight I thought the worst Chinese food I've ever had was in Tucumcari New Mexico. I now know its in Bellflower California. To my fellow yelp reviewers, you shouldn't give a restaurant five stars simply because you believe it's good value for the money, unless the five star reviews were some sort of practical joke. If thats the case, i guess the jokes on me. From this point forward, I will be more careful about relying on the yelp star system. It seems to me that the people preparing the food don't care much about what they are preparing. This food tasted bad. We ordered take out. Appetizer combo: wonton - seemed to be filled with cheese, wrapper tasted of freezer burn, disgusting. Egg rolls - not horrible, edible Paper wrapped chicken - average Fried shrimp - nothing but batter, except the batter was not fully cooked, very gooey. Hot and sour soup - should call it sour soup as it had no heat to it. Worst I've ever had, but the best thing in our order. Honey walnut shrimp - I think the cook thought "it says walnut shrimp, not walnuts shrimp" because there was only one piece of walnut in the order. The sauce had congealed around each individual shrimp. Not appetizing, barely edible. Combination pan fried noodles - the noodles were burnt and had a stale taste to them. They were packed separately from the sauce, meats, and vegetables. While it was a tremendous amount of food, it was barely edible because of the salt. Even with all the salt, it didn't kill the stale taste of the burnt orange colored noodles. Broccoli Beef - watery and tasteless. This dish is so common, so simple, I don't understand how they made it so bad. We won't be back, I recommend you look elsewhere. read more

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants around the city of Downey. Their pad Thai, salted shrimp, and orange chicken is to die for. Great food and great service. Prices are affordable for anyone. My favorite place to get a quick chinese meal. They really stuff your combo. One combo basically gets me through my whole day for meals. They also have cheap made to order items like pan fried noodle or egg foo young. It doesn't take too long either. The tellers are always really nice too. A couple remember me even. As far as a take-out place goes, this hole in the wall eatery is a great example of fast casual done right. There is no "customer service"; You can skip those annoying pleasantries--simply pick your food and pay. The food is yummy, the price is right, and the portions are ENORMOUS (especially the teriyaki chicken). As for the location, it's decent enough, and you'll never need to worry about parking. My family has been going here for years, and they have actually gotten BETTER as time goes on! Their soup stock for wor wonton is amazing, the wontons are tight, and they have dared to try new things and adjust recipes and are just getting better all the time. We always tip, because they are local and friendly. We will call in special orders from their to go menu and I'm sure it will be great! My uncle who grew up in north beach Chinatown in San Francisco gives them top billing on par with the best of that community during the 50's and 60's. I'm giving this place 2 stars because the food is alright and they deliver which is great, but they have bad phone service! I called in a 2:50pm to place an order for delivery and was put on hold for over 5 minutes with no one checking in before I finally hung up! I tried calling back twice but the phone gave the busy signal so it looks like no one ever went back to check the line and see that I had hung up! My guess is that they expected me to try to order the lunch special and were trying to push the call past the 3:00pm time limit, because when I called back at 3:00pm on dot, someone actually answered and took my order! They have a great combination plate special: two menu items, rice and chow mein, your choice egg roll (chicken, beef or vegetable) or a hot egg or won ton soup and a drink (one refill if you dine in) all for 5.99. It's really an awesome meal. They pour the food on the plate more than enough for two people or two helpings for one person. Added bonus they have Thai iced tea or coffee (?) with Boba (50¢ extra) plus they have sesame seed balls four for a dollar.
