Today was my third and unfortunately my last visit to Best Nails in the Chesapeake Square Mall. It is generally clean as these places go. It's the staff that appear not to really be interested in customer service. I wanted to enjoy the experience, but I found the staff very rude, abrupt and not willing to accept personal preferences for how I liked my nails done. When I noted my nails were unevenly filed and polished haphazardly, I asked to have them to be done over. Another staff member did so after initially trying to make it my fault. I was satisfied w/ the do over and even tried to compliment the fact that the two times before the nails had been done well. That's when I over heard a staff say , She is very picky. The manager came in to work and after I told him about my experiences he did offer a half hearted apology saying they were busy. Do not recommend. read more

I've been going to Tiffany now for the past 6 months. She is always polite and treats my son so nice when he comes with me. If I come in with a design that Tiffany can't do or doesn't have she always comes up with something better. This is my nail spot. I will continue to go here as long as I'm in SJ. I got a groupon for a shellac manicure so i gave this place a try. Thuy did my nails and she was very nice and good. I liked the way she filed my nails. It took about 1hr for my manicure. She charged 5 dollars foe 2 bows on my ring fingers. Definitely worth it. I hope they last a while. I love the way it turned out. I will definitely be back. read more

The first time I got a Brazilian here it was great. I was so glad to find a place that used soft honey wax, I have very deep roots and hard wax causes a lot of breakage for me. My second visit was not so nice. An older woman was doing the wax and rather then washing her hands she used hand sanitizer then proceeded to use hand sanitize on my vag to prep the area without putting on gloves. I then noticed she was re dipping the same stick. When she applied wax to an area far bigger then you should when using soft wax I corrected her and she stopped and proceeded to take out a scissors and trim one long pubic hair at a time telling me it hurts because it was too long. At that point I was like "what are you doing?" The owner heard and came into the room and asked what the problem was. I explained thus far she didnt have gloves on, re-dipped the stick and is trying to take off way to big of sections at once. At that point the owner decided to finish the wax. She said in response to the double dipping that she used a different wax for the face then the body. (umm... that doesnt matter) The owner was the one who did my first wax there so I thought smooth sailing from here but her first application of wax was also way too large and It would not rip off. After we were done I notice she too had reused the same sticks for the entire wax and upon getting home i had substantial clean up. Sure nothing bad is probably going to happen from the double dipping (at least I hope not) but it is still gross and not allowed by the state boards who issue the licenses. read more

Are people serious with their reviews?! Horrible excuse for a nail salon. Two out of the three ladies were nice but can't do nails, and the third (the one who speaks for them all) well she can't do nails either AND missing the nice customer service piece. She did my mani and didn't even clean up her file or paint my nails to the tip. Seriously it looked like a 12 year old did my mani/pedi. DO NOT go here unless you don't mind a crappy job done. I was so caught up chatty with my girlfriends that I didn't notice until it was too late. I even had one of them fix my toes (it was that bad) and still looked horrible. NEVER AGAIN! Worst pedicure I've ever had! I have been looking for a new place in the neighborhood, saw the other Yelp reviews and decided to give it a chance. Really wish I hadn't. The water in the spa chair was tepid at best and the lady who did my pedi was extremely rough and didn't seem to care that she was hurting me. She cut the skin on three different toes, scrapped me with what looked like a toothbrush, and then used her sharp, talon like nails to scrape off the polish that she got on my skin. I'm a little worried now because I didn't see the instruments being sterilized, and if they cut me I'm sure they have cut other customers too. All the polish choices looked outdated, old and dried up, and the lady kept trying to upsell me after I was clear I just wanted the basic! The only saving grace was that it was cheap at $18, but you obviously get what you pay for here. I wish I could give this place zero stars. Avoid it like the plague! read more

I came here a couple days ago and had a fill done. I didn't buy the Groupon and glad that I didn't because it took so long and the girl didn't understand what I wanted as design . She started to make it up and it didn't look the same and all nails were pink and a few ended up purple. When I was don't I got my top coat and the owner manager asked for 38.00 and I told her that I wasn't going to dig in my purse.... because I just got the top coat and she took it among herself and went through my purse. I told her to get out of my purse that I will pay her after my nails DRY!!!!! I don't know about this place it's a small hole in the wall shop ...... (I usually get super short squared nails and so I wanted to go back to that) I don't know what her name was , but she would not do them the short length I wanted. She kept telling me "no I can't go short" im like whaaaat. I get it done like that all the time. I went here because they had good reviews and my place was closed already. yeah bad bad mistake. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Rewind! Ok, since my first time here, that I ranted and raved about, I went in for a pedicure which I found SPLENDID. Went in again to get my eyebrows waxed... and... make yourself comfortable. Let me tell you.... I run in with just my wallet in keys in my hand and ask how long for an eyebrow wax. "Oh just a minute, go ahead and have a seat." Ok... so since I'm major A.D.D. status, I was like ok, let me get my phone real quick. So I go get my phone and why does one of the ladies like chase me outside saying "We can take you RIGHT NOW!"... I'm like ok, I wasn't going to leave... anyway I go lay down and immediately the girl is like "Oh I do your upper lip".. I'm like dude. Last time I checked I didn't have a mustache. Man. That girl must have asked me a million times after that! The final straw was when she was done with my eyebrows, she literally said no no I do your upper lip, and came towards me with that damn stick with wax and I was like no! Dude! I had told her over and over again that I don't want it... and that it makes me break out... and blah blah going on, and I swear she was like an inch away from my face when I jumped out of the chair, threw $10 at her and ran for my life. The other ladies in the salon were giving me that sympathetic look like "I know how it feels sista gul"... and by the way, I looked at my eyebrows and almost had a meltdown. Straight hacked up! Ugh! Ask for Phuong! She does my pedicures and she is really good! Her little designs/flowers are really cute too! It's only $18 for a pedicure and the designs are $2 each. However, there is always a long wait as this place is so so so so so so busy especially on the weekends. Phuong only works on Monday and Tuesdays. read more

I like this place. I've only ever gotten pedicures here... and only to treat myself. I don't get them very often (most of the time, I do it myself). My pedicures always last a super long time after I've gone to Best Nails and all the ladies are very nice. They just got new chairs installed and they are really comfy... and I don't usually like the massage chairs - but these are awesome! I have only been to Best Nails once and it was for a shellac manicure. The manicure was done in 20 minutes and cost $25. I'd rather go somewhere that takes a little bit more time and if you're paying $25 for a manicure, they should throw in a hand/forearm massage. It was a quick soak, clip and paint. I have been going to Best Nails for years and let me tell you I have been to others in the past and nothing compares to Best Nails. I love how Tiffany decorated the place and how it feels so cozy to be there. I go to other places sometimes and my feet always feel rough a couple days after.
