Verbal Abuse by a Casket Sales Representative??? The sales representative I encountered at this company was simply an obnoxious bully, one who is obviously in the wrong profession. On 12-11-2020 I attempted to place an order at this company's website. When the credit card fields kept disappearing after selecting the type card I intended to use I called to place the order by phone. Quite to my surprise, I was not connected to a kind, sympathetic, helpful sales representative - quite to the contrary. Instead, I was literally berated by who I believed was an employee, but later discovered is the owner. Nevertheless, he was bent on doing everything they could to close the business. The text message I received (attached) is evidence of that. It does not matter what product I was interested in purchasing. This sales person was keen on evoking my anger. He insulted me, badgered me, belittled me, pronounced false aspersions and expletives no rationale, moderately intelligent, and considerate person would cast on any customer! How this business is allowed to assert a rating, let along display the Better Business Bureau logo, is an affront to every other business that does. This sales person should not be allowed to speak to customers. If he is the owner, I extend my congratulations. From what I've read since this experience, he is doing an excellent job narrowing his customer base, shielding the business from sales growth. Unfortunately, I cannot leave a blank and no star. On May 2, 2022, I purchased an oversized casket for my Veteran father that served in the U.S. Marine Corps from bestpricecaskets.com. Today, May 3rd, the casket was delivered with the U.S. flags looking like they were burned, paint throughout was scratched and had smudging in paint. I called their office to report this, and they had me on hold for 21 minutes then Terry answered telling me it was like a car that gets scratched. He also blamed the funeral home and said they were biased, and I am naive, he said to select another unless he wants the company to send someone to have the casket waxed. He also called me stupid before he hung up the phone and told me "I hope you spend $3 to $4,000 more on a casket. As a daughter, caregiver, and person that is paying for most of the funeral expenses on my own, this was heart-wrenching. I am just reaching out to you to let you know exactly how much you care about your clients. I am sitting with my sister who just lost her husband on Monday and she decided to call and inquire about a casket. When we were FINALLY connected with a rep, he started talking so fast we could not get a word in edgewise. We even thought he might be a recording! He went on and on about how fast you could make delivery and how the funeral home only needed 6 minutes to put the body in there anyway so no problem with getting it there on time. At that point I took the phone from her and tried to get a question in edge wise and he said we didn't really know what we wanted so I hung up on him. He promptly called back. He was so awful my sister told him to shut up and hung up again.  This person who's name is Terry then TEXTED my sister and said "you are a jerk." Unbelievable in this day and age that he would do that to someone who is grieving.  She was handling this very courageously but this man broke her. I wish I had seen all of these reviews before I purchased from this business. I did not see this Yelp page because they also go by California-Caskets.com. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS BUSINESS. I ordered my dad's casket here in April 2021. They were quick to take my order 3 weeks before the funeral but when the casket arrived at the funeral home a few days before the funeral, the inside was severely DAMAGED. The funeral home texted me the pictures of more than 5 holes and tears in the lining, top and the inside of the casket. I called on April 28, 3 days before the funeral and sent them the pictures, they told me the lady who was in charge was gone for the day and I'd have to wait the next day for their call. I checked the website later that evening and the item number and casket was gone from their site. Morning came and no call from them. I called back again mid morning. I asked if they can ship another one or at least help with this issue, the lady just responded that they didn't know how the inside was damaged and they could not do anything about this but offer me $100 back, no compassion or care in her conversation with me. The pictures attached were the holes they found initially, the more they checked the more they found. The day of the funeral they showed me more pictures of the damage but it was not sent to my phone. Ultimately the funeral home decided that the casket was too damaged for my dads open casket viewing and were kind enough to give us one of their similar caskets. Funeral planning is an extremely sad and stressful time for the family and this business has no compassion for those who have passed and their grieving families. read more

I found this site and identified a casket that looked like something she would be happy with, then this happened: I called to ask if it was possible to see any of the caskets in person the way that you can at a funeral or for more photos than the single photo on the website. The man that I spoke to asked me if I would drive to Detroit, go into the GMC factory and try to pick out my car there. He then laughed at me. I did state that I found his response to be incredibly rude. He told me that my question was completely ridiculous and continued to laugh at me. At that point I hung up the phone. The topic of shipping was never part of the conversation as we had not even decided to purchase a casket from this company. I sent an email relaying the terrible way I had been treated. This company needs negative stars. Ordered a casket and vault from this company. Even though they were extremely rude to me, we needed to save some money. They didn't have communication with our funeral home on when they would be delivering our casket, but it was delivered in good condition. However the day of the funeral our cemetery director called me that morning and informed me that the vault had not arrived. I called the company and after being put on hold for well over 15mins. They informed me that it was delivered to whole other state. I checked my invoice and the correct address was on there so I was extremely confused. Spoke to them again when I got to the funeral home (the day of service) and put the rep on speaker so that my funeral director can hear too. The lady began to tell me that it was our funeral homes fault that it was delivered. She was very rude and loud and pointing the finger at everyone else but their company. She wouldn't allow us to get a question in or even answer the question she would ask. She then put us on hold while we in mid sentence transferred us a lead sales rep where he yelled at us telling us that it was the funeral homes fault and said, "we're going to give you a refund, what else do you want!". Then hung up on me. That happened on a Friday. I called back on Saturday to ask about the refund since we had to purchase a whole other vault. They told me to call back Monday. I called on Monday and I was told that they were really busy and to call back. I did eventually receive my refund, but what I experienced from this company at such a emotionally horrible time was beyond UNACCEPTABLE! Not only did we not bury our loved one, we had to come up with more money for their mistakes and to add to that the emotional damage and stress that was caused I can't even began to describe. They never apologized or took accountability for their mistake. Please find a different place. I just called to purchase a casket for my step-father and had the misfortune of speaking to Terry Zimmer, The Owner (I was told his name and that he was the owner by the next casket company I called.....They knew all about him, LOL.) I just had the feeling she wasn't being honest with me. She did say his behavior is an ongoing problem and they are trying to resolve it. She acted scared to speak out against him but at the same time, it was like she was trying to tell me about him without getting into trouble. I even stated to her that she sounded scared of him. There is a very good reason why this business is rated so poorly. It is run by terribly insensitive and rude people. My sister has the unfortunate task of trying to find a casket for my dying mother. She reached out after doing some research online wanting to see three options for her casket. The response she was given was: " well I hope it's not a hundred options. It is a lot of work" Finding a casket for someone you love is hard enough already and clearly in the situation rudeness is not appreciated. When my sister confronted the owner about the situation she was told: "This IS too much work. Go buy somewhere else" I cannot believe that anyone in the ownership of a business would speak this way to any consumer. What really upsets me is that this was to a woman who was trying to find options for her dying mother. Have a little tact and a little respect as a human being. Hello, I am emailing to tell you about a ridiculous customer service experience I had tonight (2/19/19) when calling to ask some questions about obtaining a casket from your company. Just called this company on the phone with some standards questions. The guy answering the phone takes my lifetime award as the biggest jerk I have ever spoken to in a customer service position. Before ordering my mom's casket last year (9/2020) I was very skeptical because of all the negative reviews. It seems that most were related to rude customer service by the owner (Terry). I can't say what may have transpired with others, but he (Terry) was extremely pleasant to me. Maybe it was the fact that I knew exactly what I needed that made the transaction go smoother, not sure. You will save a bundle. My brother died recently and we were getting the shuck and jive from the local funeral home. We found these guys online--much to the consternation of the funeral home, who wanted to sell us a casket of much lesser quality for several thousand more! We got a *beautiful* casket shipped from Dallas to Alabama in less than 24 hours. Total cost was about $1200. They could not have been more courteous and efficient. We were as happy as you can be in times like this. Their website lists a lot of helpful information about what to watch for when making funeral arrangements. I bought a beautiful casket from them. They were super helpful. The guy may seem brash but when your emotional spending you need someone to think rational for you and that's what he did. My casket arrived on time and it was a very smooth transaction. He even gave me great advice on how to save money.
