I was visiting a friend in Seattle and I had seen this place featured on Man vs Food, so I said we should check it out. I got the 6 egg Southwestern Exposure omelet and it was amazing. This place is a'aight. Didn't live up to the hype to me. They have classic hangover breakfast food and huge portion options if you're the competitive eater-type. I didn't feel like the "6-egg" omelettes really had that much egg...weird. We ordered them with the intention of having breakfast for the rest of the week, but were pretty disappointed when we ran out after one day of leftover breakfast. Plenty of filling wrapped up burrito-style on a tiny bed of mushy, oily hashbrowns. Gross and disappointing hashbrowns. Good coffee, but like $3 a cup? For two people...2 cups of coffee and two omelettes that didn't seem any bigger than any other breakfast place I've been to: $38...plus tip. Beth's Cafe is the ultimate dive cafe. If there were a Seattle "dive" Mt. Rushmore, Beth's would be up there - that's not to say that it isn't cool nor that the food is bad, it's just to say that it's a dive. The walls are littered with tons and tons of drawings, some cute and some "abstract." It's not the cleanest place in the world either - but it's not disgusting either. It's a drive. Anyway... I came here for the 12-egg omelette, because of Man vs Food, so my experience was largely shaped by that. The omelette was good. You can see that the eggs are fresh, because they've got a mountain of eggs behind the kitchen that are constantly being cracked. There was a decent amount of flavor. I got the meat omelette, which in retrospect was a stupid idea, because the longer I took to eat the omelette the colder the "grease" would get. So it wasn't too appetizing later on. Early on though... the omelette was pretty good. The eggs were cooked to perfection, the meat was good. Nothing special. It was a solid, basic, omelette. I enjoyed it. The hash browns are crispy, but nothing terribly exciting and the toast is toast. It serves good food. I'd have to go back and not do the food challenge. (Which I did finish) and just try and enjoy the food for what it's worth. There are better breakfast joints in the area, but Beth's isn't bad - it's a good choice if you're in the area and don't mind a wait (depending on when you go) -- probably not worth a 30+ minute wait though. read more

This was my first time eating at Beth's and it was one of the best breakfasts I've had in Seattle. It's no gourmet eatery, but it has charm and great dishes. I tried the triple bypass omelet and I was not disappointed. The server who helped our table was nice and the food was brought out very quick and it was hot and tasty looking. The atmosphere is great and gives a good Seattle feel, kind of grungey but inviting. I will be back to Beth's for many more breakfasts! read more

First time goer here, we went New Years morning. I was with a group of three when we arrived it was starting to get busy so we had about a 15-20 minute wait, which wasn't bad, the only down side is you have to wait outside because the cafe is so small and it was cold outside. We all split one of the 12 egg omelettes and all you can eat hash browns. Both were delicious and pretty decent quality for diner/cafe food. The walls are filled with drawings from people. You can ask for paper and crayons and draw your own picture and have it hung up on the wall. It's pretty fun. The service was good, no complaints in that area. Beth's is an amazing place in a way. Great service and good diner food. That said this place should be shut down for it's total lack of cleanliness. We sat eating a really good breakfast watching visable dirt coming out of the heat vent. Near the dirtiest restroom in Seattle is another heat vent with huge black dirt all over the ceiling. The counter that holds up the coffee station is rotten with what looks like black mold all over it. Who owns this place? It wouldn't even take that much money to properly clean it and make a few repairs and paint. Come on Beth's clean your shit up! Your peeps and menu is too good for this kind of yuck. I don't know why the Seattle health dept. allows you to operate. Too bad to because your super cool history shouldn't end because some customer calls the city on your crap. GET CLEAN. Then, I got served water after having a seat and there was a sth in side of water..like small red powder. Then, I saw a food trash bin located in the middle of the hall. The food here is on the edge of heaven! True; what makes it SO good are the flavors based on the goodness of dairy fresh eggs, thick creamy gravy, farm fresh cheeses and hash browns wallowing in deliciousness cooked in a well seasoned pan. Parking is very convenient directly on the street in front if the restaurant. We arrived with a party of 5 and were immediately seated in a large booth well suited for more. The server gave us menus and quickly got our drink order. Best of all, she have us crayons and paper for our own original wall art that abounds on every square inch of the establishment. The food was ABUNDANT beyond belief. Every portion was huge. The hash browns are endless, but there is no way anyone can eat more than the original serving. The salmon omelet (6 eggs!) was delicious with mounds of salmon and creamery cheese. The gravy was thick and hearty with sausage pieces. This is the 3rd time I have been here, but it gets better every time. Open 24 hours for the late night crowd too. Ugh, I hate to give such a crappy review, but... went here tonight for "breakfast for dinner". I have quite the mixed feelings. Was promptly greeted by a male manager, nice guy. We had to sit in the depressing, dark, and dirty "waiting room" for about 5-7 mins. We finally got our table around 7:55 pm and our server didn't even acknowledge us until 8:17.... 22 minutes before we could even order A SODA. She could've at least said "I'll be right with you" since she had so much time to eat her dinner and talk to other tables. Anyways, we finally ordered (we both ordered country fried steak). The ONLY thing that WASN'T disappointing was the hashbrowns (though a 3 year old could make them). The steak was SO over cooked and hard to cut (brought it home for my dog). Gravy was decent. Patty's Eggnest is definitely a more quality breakfast joint. Our server never checked back (literally not once in 30 mins) to see how our food came out or if we needed anything, blah blah blah. Nada. Anyways, for $32 I would've expected more quality food and certainly more attentiveness. Not to mention it took almost 55 mins from the time we sat down to get our food. I probably won't be back just to waste my money on food I could easily make at home for $5. Beth's Cafe came highly recommended from several friends, not to mention "Man vs Food". It's really not for me though. True, the portion sizes are ginormous. You get a lot to look at while you wait with the walls festooned with customer's crayon art. The ambiance is definitely on the deeper end of divey. The Southwestern exposure surprised me with it's blandness. Buy a carton of eggs, a can of Rotel and chili from up the street and make your own. Their biscuits and gravy were pretty underwhelming too. Runny gravy and flavorless biscuits lacking that special something. Endless hashbrowns are pretty sweet though, and I can't bring myself to complain about that. After all is said and done, Beth's seems to go for quantity over quality. Maybe I should try again after putting on some beer goggles. read more

This place is a staple. But to be honest, I just wasn't feeling it. I came in by myself because I had pulled an all nighter studying and sat down at the counter because the line was out the door. Thank god I was by myself because apparently it's the only way they allow you to sit at the counter. Within a few min of sitting down, I was interrogated by two different waitresses about weather or not I knew the guy who was sitting in the seat next to mine that was already in the restaurant when I arrived. I felt like I had to sit quietly without talking to anyone for fear of being kicked out. Apparently friendly people are not welcome at the counter without be subjected to having to prove their relationship, or lack there of, to the people sitting next to them, multiple times. It was super awkward. In addition, the food was gross. And I don't mean in general. I mean, for diner food, I thought it was gross. And the main reason for this was because of the above average amount of grease that all of my food was setting in. There was literally a pool of grease at the bottom of my plate and it really just made my food completely unappetizing to the point that I only ate about 1/3rd of it before I just couldn't bring myself to eat anymore. I'm not sure what the hype is about this place. There are other diners that are far less crowded, with better food and better service. I think my favorite part about this place is def the coloring. This is my favorite place to get late night breakfast. It has a hometown diner feel unlike most of the places in North Seattle. When pretty much everything else is closed, you can always count on Beth's to be waiting with open arms to feed you. I love love love their breakfasts, not as big of a fan of lunch/dinner options. And I thought it was wrong of them to charge their customers for a "covid cleaning/sanitation fee" like shouldn't they have already been cleaning/sanatizing the place before covid happened? Why would they charge their customers for something they should already be doing? Also when dining in I've been served water in a dirty glass, a hair in my food, and some dirty silverware.
