You know, I am torn with the place. I like it. It's right outside the neighborhood I currently reside in. I have been numerous times, it has that relaxed and inviting feel. I am not sure why it always seems like the place to go when everywhere else is busy. I will agree with a previous yelpers review. It always has adequate staff. We went Saturday not crowded which I can appreciate. I think it is new so people don't realize that there is a restaurant there. Menu was a little small, but I'd rather have a few items that are always good vs and full menu but only 3 things are good. Chips and salsa were good, they give you a red and green salsa. Terrible service. 50 min to get our simple dinner and it wasn't even that crowded. Water tasted like the smell of a sewer. Husbands side of "potatoes" was cold as ice and he was done with his meal by the time they brought out hot ones. First time there, and will def be my last. read more

Beto's is a New Mexican restaurant just off of Riley Fuzzel by the Grand Parkway. It is rarely busy and navigating to it under the current road construction can be a bit of a pain. The service is great and the staff are very friendly. read more

The food was pretty good. The service from our waiter was TERRIBLE. We've only gone there twice, somehow got the same server twice. The first time we thought he might have had a rough day. The second time, he basically ignored us. Never checked back to see how we were doing after we got our food or if refills were needed, ignored me when I tried to call for him. He even still ignored us when he got another table come in that was next to ours. At this point it was pretty obvious he was deliberately ignoring us. The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. The restaurant itself is beautiful. After that though it went downhill. The fajita plate was not hot so what's the point of the plate. On another dish served with corn tortillas, the tortillas weren't cooked although the were warmed up. The charro beans blatantly tasted bad, very strong on lime. The pork carnitas had no crisp to them and included a large amount of fat. I'd pass before stopping here, too many other options. read more

The service is great. You never run out of tea with 3 different ppl asking you for a refill. I had the pablano cream and Monterey cheese covered chicken with Spanish rice and charro beans. If this was my first meal here that I ever had, it would be my last. The best word that I have for the meal is, lackluster. Bland would be another. The chicken was overcooked to dryness leaving me with impression that the cream is there to cover up the dryness. Not only that, but the cream had no flavor. When I hear pablano, it invokes a certain flavor with a touch a heat. This cream had none of that. It was overridden with cheese and sour cream. The Spanish rice was bland also and the charro beans are better out of the can from HEB. The only thing with flavor was the salsa. We stopped going to their other restaurant, Mario's, because the service and quality went down. This was no better, except for the service. In the pics provided, that's all I ate. I hate to be the bearer of bad news or say anything bad about someone. We decided to try out the fairly new business. We sat down and were thirsty and hungry. Let's just say it took a little while to get chips and water. Not a big deal. Then, we asked what type of margaritas they serve because margaritas are not on the menu. He was a lil confused. He fumble off a list of about 6 flavors. We decided on a pina colada because we didn't feel confident about the margaritas. Well, pina colada tasted like blended up water. Good Mexican food in the suburbs. It's not going to knock your socks off but it's good. 4 stars. I've been once. Everything we ate was great. Moist chicken, thick and tasty queso, friendly staff, hot chips, good portions, great salsas. I'll be coming back for sure. It's a pain to waste your time and money at a Mexican place that gets it wrong. Betos does not get it wrong. You'll be satisfied. If I could give a lower score I would. We stopped in after the place we were headed to was not open after Harvey. Allow me to start with the worse because it was so unbelievable. Friend ordered the chicken poblano, which was a butterfly chicken breast with sauce. She cut into the chicken and it had a huge blood spot in it that was still running. Prior to that...a dish had to be returned because of an allergy to avocado because the menu did not disclose avocado on the dish, the tortillas received with my order were closer to chips than tortillas, and it too an unusually long amount of time to get refills on water. After several conversations with the manager and waiter they comped the meal because only one person had no issues with the food. That dish was the shrimp pasta, which looked really good and Brian finished it so score on that dish. It's a shame that with SO many Mexican restaurants in the area this level of quality exists. We waited quite awhile for a hostess to acknowledge us, then one did, went to check for table, never came back, another one came, never came back, the third finally sat us. We asked for drink menu, not one, but had a full bar? Had to ask a second time for another set of silverware. However, the salsa is delicious & menu looks great. My girlfriend and I decided to stop for "Happy Hour" today, and asked for the Chili con Queso, a glass of white wine and a beer. The chips and queso were great! When I asked for a second glass of wine, there was no white wine to be found! I was offered a corked "champagne", a glass of sparkling, or a white zinfandel. My friend asked for a glass of red wine, and was given the option between two opened and corked bottles of the same red (which didn't have enough to fill a glass). Opting then for another beer and a margarita, we left after 3 sips of the disappointing margarita. The tab was $34 for a very disappointing "Happy Hour". We won't be returning! read more

Very disappointed. We were not even allowed to sit down before waiter was pressuring us for our drinks order "what do you want...a Margarita, Mexican beer, Wine?" Really, let us settle in before asking. After that he hung around the table waiting for us to order. To get rid of the guy we ordered Burritos and I'll give them credit for record time in bringing it to the table. It takes longer to get your food at Taco Cabana. Maybe that explains why Taco Cabana food is hot and ours was warm at best. Smothered in the Mexican version of velveeta cheese which we both scraped off since it was starting to gel. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is over priced considering it is basically prepared Mexican food that they slap on a plate and deliver to you warm. read more

Horrible, horrible food. The queso tasted like Cheese Whiz. The chicken diablo tasted like either the bacon or the chicken was bad, so I just ate chips. This place is awesome and my wife and I go here often as its close by, never crowded, excellent service, and great prices. They also offer items for those not wanting Tex Mex such as steaks, and their pork medallions are really good. The frozen margs are ok and a good selection of Mexican beers served with a frozen glass! The atmosphere/decor is very nice and super clean. This place is up there with Pappasitos IMO but without a complex menu, screaming kids, and high prices. Fajitas are really good and the apps they have are a meal in itself. Went in for the first time after reading all the positive reviews. Nice clean restaurant, pretty old world Mexican decor. Very comfortable. No loud music, would have set the mood a little more with something in the background. Greeted and seated immediately. Lovely decor but the food is not anything special. e.g, the "three cheese" queso was ONLY cheese... nothing else to kick it up. Chips did not seem to be made on premises. The entrees we ordered were just okay. Don't think they make their sauces in house, AND, the chicken in my enchiladas was cubed rather than shredded which made me wonder if the chicken was processed chicken. Flan had a grainy texture and was low on the eggy custardy taste. They charge for tortillas... AND drink re-fills. read more
