2.5 Stars Don't hate me...my DAD picked this place for Father's Day breakfast since he lives close by. They wouldn't take reservations but we arrived about 8:45am on Father's Day and got lucky that a table for 8 was open. Staff here is super friendly and accommodating. They would be the only reason I could come back to this place. The food is substandard as far as breakfast goes but truly I have had better at Denny's. The selection is pretty standard but they also have some specials that are not on the menu like chili Verde which my Step-Mom ordered. I don't think anyone was really impressed with their breakfast. I ate half of my egg Benedict and cottage potatoes (they are equivalent to country potatoes with peppers and onions). 4 stars for service and friendly people 1 star for food....I feel bad for rating it so low but it really was not that good. read more

The people here are fantastic and deserve 6 Stars. You will never have to wait for anything unless it is for a table on the weekends. They have a way of knowing what you want before you know it yourself.... especially on coffee refills. The only way Betsy's could improve is with the food. They have yet to modernize with the Organic and Vegan movements. Already being the best breakfast place in town, I am sure there is little motivation. The food is always pretty good. I've never had bad service. The family that owns it is always warm and welcoming, and I do like patronizing small local businesses. They do a nice business here. So, why the 3 stars instead of higher? Don't know if it's me, but the portions seemed a little smaller than I remembered. It didn't occur to me until my wife mentioned it as we were leaving. I think she's right. I did not leave hungry, but the plate did seem a little more naked this time. I'll have to come back again and really pay attention to this, and maybe I can bump the rating up - I really want to. The chicken fried steak is good. Philly cheese steak has good flavor. I've gotten the fried eggs and bacon sandwich, but it comes on regular toasted bread. See if you can get it on sourdough - much better. It can get a little busy on some evenings; they are attached to the Morgan Hill bowling alley, and on league nights (particularly after seven) the kitchen can get hit pretty good. The staff does come out to your lane to serve you your meals, but obviously the service inside the restaurant is better. read more

You won't believe this, but this is a tasty diner is attached to a bowling alley. The portions are huge at this no frills diner. The usual diner items are on the menu including some unusual ones like chile verde with hash browns and two eggs. heads up on the house made meat loaf. I went at a busy time on Sunday morning with two other people. There was a crowd waiting outside, but fortunately the hostess told me the wait was only about 10-15 minutes, which it was. It would have been nice to have seating outside, and I've seen some places even provide coffee outside for people waiting to be seated. We had to wait a little while for our menus and then again for the food to arrive. The service wasn't the fastest, but that was to be expected for being so busy. The reason I gave three stars it because even though the food was "okay", it could have been a lot better if they had just changed a couple of things. First off, when I order a $10 omelet with cheese, I expect to receive real cheese and not imitation American cheese slices. How much more could real cheddar or Jack cheese cost on an omelet? Also, my wife ordered the french toast and even though it was average french toast, it could have been a lot better if they had provided at least a couple different syrup selections instead of the typical corn syrup maple flavored syrup. These aren't big complaints, but certainly enough to warrant the place getting a couple stars knocked off. Improve the quality of the food a little bit and I can see this being a very good breakfast place. read more

I got a simple eggs and toast meal but I would like to add this place gives you four sausages instead of three like at scramblez or two at Dennys. I've heard so many great things about this place so u figured why not try it. The moment I walked in no one was there to help us. Come to find out you can sit anywhere after the fact. I am not use to that walking into a restaurant with no host or at least someone to point you to sit anywhere. We sat down at a table but they made us move because the table was for larger party. This is the family owned diner located adjacent to the bowling alley that is known for a decent lunch and good breakfast. A-Jay's Cheesesteaks and Mr. Falafel, two other good Morgan Hill spots, are all owned by the same family. I was actually told to come here by Art, AKA Mr. Falafel. To me, Mr. Falafel is the best of the 3 restaurants still, but each have their own niche I guess. The staff at Betsy's never seem to be in a good mood. They are pretty quick and get everything done, but never do it with a smile. If you can get over this, it is pretty good and the prices are relatively fair. I have ordered pickup bacon and biscuits and gravy as I drive right past here every day on my way to work. The biscuits and gravy were excellent with nice chunks of sausage in there. The bacon was pretty thick, cooked properlu and quite tasty. I had lunch one time at the counter and had a chicken sandwich with cheese and an order of fries. The chicken sandwich was loaded with flavor and knocked my socks off. Fries were alright. Based on this great experience, I ordered pickup for myself and a work mate; he had the mushroom burger and I had the cajun chicken sandwich. He liked his burger, but I was rather dissatisfied with mine. The bread was all soggy and the cajun dippings ran all over and were a hot mess. Was tough to eat and I just would not recommend getting this again. All in all, A-OK, according to the Yelp 3-star review, and I'll be going back again in the future. read more

My son and daughter took me to Betsy's for my birthday brunch. We had never been there before and thought we would try it out. James had chicken fried steak with fried potatoes, Mary-Catherine had a mushroom, spinach and cheese omelet and pancakes and I had the chorizo and egg scramble with flour tortilla's and fresh squeezed orange juice. We all loved everything. Not only was the food good, but the service was excellent and fast. Our coffee cups were never empty. We looked over the menu and decided that we have to go back to try their lunch and dinner menu as well. I've been here for breakfast lunch and dinner and although the portions are on the small side and the price is sometimes higher than you might want the food USUALLY good..Service has usually been quick in the 10-15 times I have been here. If you like drinking at the bowling alley bar down the way then feel free to ask the bartender for the Betsy's menu and you can have food brought to the bar from over there which is always a nice change from bars without food service. l. UPDATE: Wow the last 2 times I went here really brought the rating down. Got a chicken fried steak that was really rare. I have never even seen this but it was almost cold in the middle. Another time I ended up getting hash browns almost cold and cold toast as well. On second thought here the service is hit or miss along with the food. I wish I could recommend a better breakfast in MoHill but I can't . The lunch has always been good for me but wow that 2/5 that the breakfast was sub-par. read more

I go to this restaurant in Morgan Hill for breakfast almost every weekend (when the rest of Morgan Hill goes as well) and end up ordering Chili Verde. There is not a better breakfast anywhere than a scrambled egg, half cottage potatoes\half beans Chili Verde at Betsy's. The Family and employees are very nice and service oriented and their yearly Christmas feeding and gift giving to the less fortunate families is a great community service they organize and deliver. read more

We have eaten at Betsy's many times since my first review. Sitting both in a booth and at the counter. I was put off by the counter the first time but now we love sitting there.
