Last year our spring broke and I called Better Build Door and Jesse was booked out for four days. So I added my name to his schedule.The next day, Jesse called and said that he finished a job early and he was in the area and he could fit me in. He showed up shortly and replaced my broken spring and gave me a few pointers on maintenance. My neighbor spring recently broke and the repair company up sold him on all new teflon rollers. (Our development was built by the same company back in 2000) I asked Jesse about the rollers and he said mine were fine and they should last the life of the door! Since then he has replaced a garage door on a rental that I manage and recently my own rental too! His service and prices are great and his quote was actually bellow Costco's price. Even if his price was above everybody else, I would still use him since I strongly believe that great service and quality work far out way saving a few bucks! Based on Yelp reviews, I called Better Built Door when we needed to have a new garage door opener installed. They found a way to be available on the only day we were, installed the door opener quickly and easily, and fixed another opener that we'd installed (not-too-successfully) ourselves. They also had the new springs we needed available on the truck, saving us a trip to go buy them ourselves (probably could have saved a few bucks, but we were short on time and appreciated their preparedness). My garage door opener BROKE OFF of my garage door, tearing from the siding of the door itself. I called this company based on their yelp reviews. The man, I think it was Jesse, came out during the time he said he would be there. Instead of trying to sell me a new door or opener, or both he fixed it by adding a metal bracket. Furthermore he had the opener run several times to listen to the door opening and made some adjustments to the settings. He also explained to me the reason that the door ripped off so that I can prevent that from happening again. I don't know how the price compared (it was $104.00 with tax) but would def recommend (and I'm a picky customer). read more

Awesome service! Garage door quit working in the evening. Called Better Built the next morning and they were here at noon. I knew it was a spring issue (spring was split in half on top of door) so he quoted the price before he came. Here and gone within 30 minutes and even changed out the remote access for me and lubed the hinges so they no longer squeaked. Funny how you get use to the noise and think that is normal. Price was as quoted. Easiest project I have had done in a long time. No hassle, prompt response, on time, efficient and professional. I called Jesse at Better Built Doors and ordered garage doors. He is aggressive. He's combative and he's volatile. He won't listen and he can't hear anything so he yells a lot. He took my deposit and forgot about me. A month after I made a deposit, I had to call him to schedule an appointment. He was going to call me when the doors arrived. I finally got an appointment, unfortunately, he showed up with the wrong doors. He got angry when I told him these are contemporary doors and I have a traditional style house. I would never order these doors. He immediately started yelling at me. He said he spent a lot of time with me and that's not true. He sent me an invoice for the amount and the part number. when I called him to ask for more details he cut me off and said the part number was on the invoice. Anyway, I should have looked for another company as he wasn't able to provide good customer service. It's now been three months since we started working with him. I thought we worked out a solution. I was going to pay a restocking fee of a ridiculous amount. He refused to pay half considering it was a mistake on his part. At this point, I just wanted my doors. He said he would put on doors he had at his house and I thought we were good to go. But He put my old doors on and left and stolemy 800.00 deposit. He is an angry and unpleasant man. He wouldn't listen without interrupting and he stole my deposit. A felony I think!! read more

Had a broken garage door spring and called a few businesses from Yelp for quotes. Better Built had competitive prices and good reviews so I chose them. They arrived on time and replaced two springs very quickly. They charged me $274. I tested the function with my automatic garage door opener, before they left, and it seemed to work fine. Two weeks later my garage door opener got stuck and would not open the door. I tightened some loose door bolts, lubed the rollers and hinges and the door was able to open, but with a loud noise from my opener. The next morning, my door would not open with the auto garage door opener again. Since my opener was about 15 years old I figured it had burned out and decided to buy a new one and install it myself. During installation I found that the garage door springs had virtually NO TENSION and I could barely lift the door manually into the open position. I realized that the springs had been installed incorrectly, the spring tension had not been set correctly during installation, the door was not balanced as it should be, and the door could barely be manually lifted into the open position without MUCH effort. I called Better Built Door and was told that they could not come out to adjust the spring tension without me paying another, hefty service fee. My spring warrantee did not cover this "additional" service. I was evidently stupid to assume that Better Built Door adjusted my door springs during installation. Live and learn. So I decided to call another company for this service, along with a garage door tune-up, prior to the installation of my garage door opener. I will never use Better Built Door again. read more

Bad quality, horrible service, avoid this establishment at all costs. I originally used better built door because of the good reviews on this website. They did not give me any choice on the garage door openers that they installed. The garage door opener they installed was subpar. But the truly disturbing thing was the service. When the garage door stopped working for no reason I called to have it repaired. The owner gave me a 4 hour window on a weekday in which I had to have somebody home. The owner never mentioned that he would not come to my home if I did not answer his phone call on the same day. After i missed his call, i called back multiple times to confirm but there was no answer. The owner stood me up wasting an entire day. When I called to try to make things right, the owner argued with me for 10 minutes telling me I was at fault. No matter how nice I tried to be he would not let up that it was my fault. Most people do not have time in their lives to argue with the people they're trying to pay for service. Do not believe the good reviews on this site, this establishment is awful. read more

My roommate ran into the garage. So I called up, and the guy took my info and said he'd be in the neighborhood the next day, and gave me a window. The next day, when the window passed, I called up to see if he was running late. He told me he couldn't find my house, and quoted me an incorrect address. OK, unfortunate, not a huge deal. But I then asked if he also had the wrong number or hadn't been able to call (as I could've told him the right address) and he said "Oh, I did! A couple times! It was busy!". UM. You had my cellphone number. It was by my side all afternoon. No missed calls, and it doesn't give busy signals. Don't LIE to me. It doesn't make me want to hire you. He said he'd try to get back to my neighborhood later in the afternoon...I never heard from him. Left a message with him the next morning, and he never called back. I called another company and they came and fixed it the same day. I sure won't call him again. read more

I had the power go out today and had to pull the red cord on my garage door for the first time to get my car out manually. Of course, I could not figure out how to get it working properly again once the power came back on. I checked the manual and had no luck. So, with a pit in my stomach knowing I would have to pay a huge fee to have someone come out I began calling around and called Better Built Door 1st b/c of their great reviews. The owner answered after 5pm (which is also rare these days) and fixed my door over the phone in 5 minutes and also helped me with another problem I had been having for a year with the other garage door. Amazing! I would highly recommend him as he is obviously not out to get your money but a good honest man who knows his garage doors!! I have never had anything but good interactions with this company. They installed my garage door 18 years ago and have responded promptly to any service calls. Several times, the "fix" has been very simple and Jesse has charged me $20 - unbelievable in this day and age. Two weeks ago, my 18-year old remote finally gave out. I called Jesse, resigned to a replacement opener and remote since my brand is no longer produced. Like many of the other folks who have posted here, when I do need to replace my opener, I will definitely give Better Built Door my business. Jesse told me he actually had an opener on his truck which he mailed to me and asked me to reimburse him for his postage and time to mail it - $20. That kind of caring and service is unheard of by most business owners. I can only think that there were extenuating circumstances in some of the negative reviews because that certainly hasn't been my experience in 18 years. read more
