One of my pizza spot and I always come back. But just my most recent visit the experience hasn't been all that pleasant compared to my other visits. Our food came out really slow and we only ordered two appetizers (wings and truffle fries) and a single pizza (the gold digger btw delicious). BUT... The utensil that was given to me were not properly cleaned which threw off my experience right off the bat. The fork that I was using had what looked like a piece of dirty rubber stuck on the underside and I didn't realized until I used it and felt a weird bump on the fork inside my mouth. My husband and I decided to try this place upon searching for good pizza in Cranston while our son and his friends played at Top Golf. So, so glad we did! Everything was perfect- the ambiance, the authentic Italian feel, the menu, the drinks, the service and the FOOD. We split the cherry pecan salad with arugula, goat cheese and a delicious maple dijon dressing. We each ordered a pizza - I got the Marilyn Monroe and my husband got the pepperoni. Pizza crust is absolutely delicious. It picks up just enough of a wood smoke flavor from their wood fired oven. The margarita pizza is excellent, and the sausage and onion and or the veggie pizza are superb. Actually every pizza I've enjoyed at Bettola has been top shelf, the best pizza I've had in Rhode Island: the best. Wings were great too. Absolutely delicious food. We enjoyed dinner on then patio- it is right next to the parking but it was a lovely night and the cars were not intrusive. Loved the pizza - excellent crust and a lovely fresh sauce, quality cheese too and not overdone. The staff was friendly and attentive. Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday, early afternoon. Chill vibe, hip decor, great soundtrack, and a sweet, helpful waitress. Pizzas were lit (marg and pepperoni); veal parm was crusty, tasty, flavorful; "Italian Job" sandwich was thick and tasty. House-made cannolis for dessert were amazing. I absolutely love this place. Best pizza around with a perfect Neapolitan style crust. It's tough not to eat the whole darn pie yourself. But then they have these desserts that are out of this world, and pasta dishes that are perfectly executed, and a short rib with risotto that is mind blowing. On top of that, the ambience is super casual and inviting, and the service is friendly. They've got some fun specials and promotions, too, like beer clubs and a rewards wheel. I would not order the pizza if I went back, not that it was bad, but because the other menu items were much better. I think I'd be missing out if I were to order another pizza. The arancini tasted authentic, like it came right out of little Italy. The pasta was incredibly creamy, packed full of that wow factor. Lemon lasagna?! Genius. Perfectly balanced with the whipped cream and ultra thin layer of crunch. The pizza I felt was too heavy for it's crust. I love a pizza with hearty toppings, but this was so heavy it had to be eaten with a fork and knife. Even when folding and using two hands, it still made a mess no matter how you tried to pick it up. Looking for a place to eat dinner before a show at the Park Theater we found Bettola. It turned out to be perfect. We were pressed for time, but the staff seated us, took out order, expedited it and brought the food our table with plenty of time, all while being friendly and polite. The food was terrific too. Bettola acts like a pizza restaurant, but it has so much more, and it is good. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and a cozy bar. I am just sorry it is not in my neighborhood! read more

Truffle fries, banging broccoli, eggplant rollatini were a must if it's your first time. The meatballs were tender but I don't think I'd order it again. The service is excellent. The restaurant looks clean, modern and full. We had the princess pizza... the pizza itself was great, cheese, sauce, bread... but the chicken was bland. I would come back for pizza. This is our go-to neighborhood restaurant. The food is fantastic and there's a lot to choose from! Our absolute favorite is the Marilyn pizza, but we've had so many other special pies and pasta dishes too. The wings are superbly tasty and cooked perfectly. I went on a Saturday at around noon so it wasn't too busy. We ordered the Marilyn Monroe pizza with the four cheesy pasta. The Marilyn Monroe was cheesy but I think it was missing more of the promised sweet and spicy flavor. You could taste a hint at the base of the pizza but it didn't linger much because the cheese overpowered that flavor pretty quick. The pizza was cooked perfectly where the crust wasn't too burned but also still had a good crunch. The four cheesy pasta was a small serving for the price which I assume is because of the cheeses it has. It was a bit bland though. If I could do it over, I would try the princess pizza or a classic pepperoni as I got a peak of them as I was leaving and they looked really good. There's parking on the street, and in my case, it didn't take long to find a spot. The staff is nice and attentive. read more

Not a bad spot for a pie! The interior is a nice opening dining room with clear view of the kitchens. The drinks are humorously named and the place mat is wonderfully hilarious with parody businesses. The service was amazing as well, quick and attentive. As per the food? Not bad either! We started with fried mozzarella and an order of broccoli rabe. The mozzarella was perfectly crispy with the cheese being smooth and buttery. The little ramekin of red sauce was tangy to compliment the rich cheese. The broccoli rabe was sautéed in a nice olive oil and garlic. We had a margherita pizza, which was a good interpretation of the italian mainstay. The differences kept me from seeing this as just a good cheese pizza. The crust, while nicely charred from the brick oven, had cornmeal which gave it a nice crunch beyond normal crust. The cheese had 100 coverage via shredded application, unlike the traditional mozz slices. Despite this, it was a good pizza and we finished it. The experience was wonderful! read more

My husband & I haven't ordered from here in almost two years due to previous issues but thought we'd give them another try. Huge mistake. This place does not know how to make a pizza. We ordered the San Gennaro with a gluten free crust. This pizza used to be delicious. There were huge pieces of caramelized onions, huge balls of sausage that looked more like meatballs than sausage, raw garlic and barely any pepperdews. I'm still questioning if it was even sausage. The pizza was cut so poorly that each slice was a different size and there were only 7 slices instead of 8. We tried to cut it in the box and the crust was so difficult to cut, the pizza cutter cut through the box. The crust was so hard you could crack a tooth on it. The pizza was cold when he got back home and we live five minutes away. Clearly, it sat around and didn't take 25 minutes to make as stated when ordered. It was the worst pizza we've ever had and maybe the worst meal. We tried to eat 2 pieces each but the rest went in the trash. Also, when my husband picked up the pizza, the cashier was going to keep the change rather than handing it back. Not sure what's going on but it sounds like a poor business practice. This was a waste of money and ruined a nice evening. We will never go back. I would like to have given zero stars but that's not an option. read more

I have enjoyed several visits to Bettola which has become one of my favorite pizzerias in the State, believe it or not. The service is always excellent in my experience. Located in Rolfe Square it is walkable to a whole lot of the local community. Glad to see Rolfe Square growing. The pizza itself stands out from the crowd with its creative creations, quality ingredients. The Gold Digger is one of my favorites there with mustard bourbon BBQ sauce, sharp cheddar and bacon. The crust is very doughy and tasty. I also tried the Fig N' A and it was not as original but still well done. There are sandwiches as well, in addition to mocktails/cocktails that I have enjoyed. Overall I love the humor, the family feel, the location and the food. Ten stars! read more

Came here because I saw that they have been voted best pizza as part of the Rhode Island Food Fights Champions. Maybe my expectations were set too high or maybe I didn't come on a good night but first impressions were a bit off. Felt as if the other tables around us were being attended to and we were a bit neglected. It seemed as if everyone around was regulars but this was my first time here and was absolutely not given the same hospitality and service unfortunately. As it started to get busier we were asked if we wanted boxes and we were not even halfway done with our meal so it felt like we were being rushed out which is not a great feeling especially since the table next to us wasn't asked to pack up and leave although they had been there longer. But the food was amazing! For the appetizer we got the bangin broccoli which alone could have left me satisfied. Then followed by the apple bottom greens salad. The dressing and toppings paired really lovely together and really enjoyed how not overpowering the dressing tasted. For mains we chose gnocchi, and 2 of their signature pizzas! I've been coming to Bettola for a few years and it consistently delivers excellent pizza with unique, fresh ingredient combinations. Of the times I've been, the Marilyn Monroe and the San Gennarro were some of the best. The Marilyn Monroe is the perfect savory pie with 3 different types of cheeses, but is then topped with a hot honey to give it a sweet and spicy kick. The San Gennaro offers a similar type of flavor profile. It has savory ground sausage, sweet peppadew peppers and caramelized onions that create a nice sweet-savory combination. One year I even purchased the honey they top the Marilyn Monroe on our way out the door. They have apparel and other condiments for sale at the front of the restaurant as well. They have a full bar and offer a variety of cocktails. I haven't tried many, but hope to see how they do when I go visit again next time. My most recent visit was on a Tuesday night and the placed was completely packed. We just got there in time as a significant line formed just after we sat down. The only knock on this place is the service around the tables can be a little slow. There are probably 10-15 tables in the entire place, and only 1 or 2 people managing everyone and taking in new customers. On busy nights, this can lead to long wait times for putting orders in. 1 more person on the waitstaff rotation would ease the burden on the existing servers and improve the speed of service. This is one of the best pizza places in the state, and definitely outpunches many places in Providence. I will be back soon! read more

Not really sure what's going on in the pizza kitchen, two weeks in a row I have ordered pizzas and they have been completely wrong. I understand that a busy kitchen and things can get lost in the shuffle, but I ordered a pizza special and when it was delivered it was a Marilyn Monroe pizza (weird) I ended up eating it and liking it, so the following week I ordered the same pizza and it came with blue cheese on it?? Disgusting! I couldn't even eat it. How do you even mess up blue cheese with ricotta. That was so gross. Waste of money and I'll probably not be going or ordering from here for awhile. Edit- I know Gorgonzola cheese, that was not what was made for my order. I have gotten that pizza before, and enjoyed it. This was twice it happened, not once. I'm a pizza junkie, take one look at my reviews and you can see that, so I'd like to think I'm a good judge of pizza. Bettola is a solid option but I don't think its as good as its reputation. The sauce is nice and sweet and the cheese and crust were fine. Price was reasonable for the size. And its defiantly worth a look if you're in the area, and in the future for me. That said, I won't be in any rush to do so, and nor should you. As a side note, I ordered on slice and they only give water and lemonade as drink options, but when I went to pickup I noticed they do, in fact, have soda too. This place has been here for 4 years- I never knew! You walk into a small dining area with a huge pizza station. The vibe and music was chill and nostalgic. Bettola also boasts about having the best pizza in RI! The mozzarella squares were good. The truffle fries were good- and they really kept their crisp. But the pizzas, even though it's good, is not the best pizza in RI - that just was not the reality! The pizza got a bit dry - so a little more sauce and a finishing drizzle on top was definitely needed. However the star of the show was the pizza maker. The gentleman was talkative with the customers- had a huge smile- and gave suggestions as to his favorite pizzas. He was happy to be at work!
