Poppyseed has been around forever and for good reason. The food is consistently delicious. It's my go-to for a large, heart salad or delicious sandwich. Every option is a good choice. They could use some updates inside the restaurant but the food will never let you down.

Met some friends for lunch. We all decided we wanted something light and fresh, so of course why not a poppyseed salad! We were greeted and seated up on arrival. Our server was very pleasant! Now I have not been to poppyseed in years probably like 7 since my office moved from OP. I definitely won't be waiting 7 years again. The food was fresh, huge portions and so tasty. Now I mentioned we went in for salads, well my friends stuck to their guns, me on the other hand to read the specials, and Par 5 changed my ordering. The Par 5 special was a grilled cheese around a smash burger, with bacon, tomato and jalapeno mayonnaise, yes jalapeno mayonnaise! The fries were definitely hand cut and home made and were cooked and seasoned to perfection.Who could blame me from straying from a salad, which by the way looked amazing as well! We started with the spinach artichoke dip and it was good it actually had a different flavor than I'm use to BUT whatever they did keep doing it. For my seeing challenged folks, it is fairly dark in there! Thank god for cell phone lights!

We visited for lunch today and were seated immediately by the very kind and cheerful staff. We were greeted right away by, Carrie, the team member assigned to our table. Her service was very good and very on time with everything. We ordered some appetizer, the name slips me but they were delicious along with the sauce that was served with them. I ordered the Par five burger. It was delicious and very filling. We also ordered a bowl of French onion soup which was good as well. The restaurant was quiet when we first arrived but became very busy quickly. I can understand why with the freshly prepared dishes and great service. Although it was busy it was not very loud at all and the decor of the dining area is lovely. If you haven't been there or it has been awhile I would recommend stopping in for a meal.

We always love a trip to the McKinley Mall because it means we can squeeze in lunch at the Poppyseed Restaurant. It's a little storefront establishment with a high-end feel and budget friendly prices! Today we had two little boys in tow, so a good kids menu was a must! We were swiftly seated by a very pleasant young lady. Menus were provided and we began to salivate over our choices! I was very tempted to order a Cinnamon Sandwich, grilled and loaded with cream cheese, turkey and cranberries, walnuts and a cinnamon glaze. Comes with sweet potato fries. All for only $16! Instead I selected the Par 5 10 oz angus burger on a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato, bacon and jalapeño mayonnaise. Mine came with delicious French fries, but I know the hand cut fried chips are wonderful as well. Now, I have been around the block, from a dining perspective but I have to say that this was the most delicious burger I've had in ages. The beef patty was thick, juicy and flavorful. The grilled cheese sandwich took it to a whole other level! Roll your eyes back in your head! It was that good!!! I could not finish, so half my plate came home in a box. My man had the Chicken Souvlaki Salad with a bowl of hearty French onion soup. The soup came out first, loaded with a thick blanket of cheese over a slice of rye bread. The soup was full of onions, very satisfying! His salad brought the house down! Delicious and fresh, filled with iceberg, feta, olives, tomatoes, red onions, pepperoncini and marinated chicken. A side pita complimented the meal which came to $15. We ordered a pita pizza for one little boy, and the chicken fingers and fries for the other. Surprisingly they ate much of their food and still had plenty to take home. These kid meals came in at under $7 and included a kid beverage. All in all, this is a place where we can always count on a great meal at a very reasonable price! I

Chicken Poppyseed Salad - minus one piece of chicken

I used to be a hater. I never understood the appeal of a restaurant that specializes in salads. But I'm a changed man. And this place offers the best salads in the world. My favorite is the Chicken Poppyseed salad with Poppyseed dressing. It's incredible. Perfectly cooked juicy chicken mixed with spinach salad, mozzarella, cranberries and walnuts. And filling too! The dressing are drinkable - so good. I've had multiple soups that are amazing. The chicken dumpling was like a Willie Wonka gobstopper in my mouth that replicated Thanksgiving dinner. Kind of funny when you go in for lunch. It's packed with a 15 minute wait. And the ratio of women to men is probably 10-1.

This is one of the only places that has come up with delicious & creative vegetarian meals since at least the 90's. Generally they are wonderful as a casual place. Recently Ordered curbside salad & sandwich. No utensils or napkins for takeout & boring $13 sandwich were most disappointing. Muddy shoes $13 was a disappointing, bland smooshed vegetarian blob with lettuce & tomato. Bread was nicely toasted. April Shower salad $14 was outstanding. Photos don't fully show how many yummy ingredients were packed into the salad (or how few were in the muddy shoes sandwich). Neither item was a finger food or could be eaten without silverware &/or napkin, so the convenience of curbside was erased.

We were chatting with our little yelper and she had told the waitress she wanted chicken. Yes I know, chicken fingers in a Mexican restaurant.. our amazing waitress got those moving asap, and if you have a hangry kid. You know how important that is. We got the south of the border lunch and the steak fajitas. Those plates came out heaping with some of the best food we've had in some time. The chicken was perfect as was the steak. I literally couldn't have been more impressed with the meal. The only negative was the beans. Maybe it was us but we just felt they were too "soupy" but definitely not something that would negate how fantastic this was. Definitely not going to pass this gem again when we're in Hamburg.

No reservations taken for Ladies Night and you must sit at the bar or one of the 2 bar tables . We sat at the bar. The deal is comprised of one martini or a glass of house wine, a plate of Parmesan truffle fries and a Caesar salad for $20. We saw a picture online and assumed the platters were for 2. No!! You get your own very large serving of the best fries and a fantastic caeser salad! The presentation was so nice with the fries and salad coming on a two tiered server. The fries were so thin and crispy with lots of fresh parm and lightly dressed with truffle oil ( as it should be. Most restaurants douse them ... not good.) the Caeser salad was a mix of romaine and kale with large croutons, a good Caeser dressing and cheese. Just so yummy. And the martini... we ordered chocolate martinis and they were fabulous ! Kudos to the bartender. Would I go again.. yes!! And I'd like to try their regular menu as well. Because of that, we were honestly really grateful that everything worked out smoothly once we arrived. Service was decent overall, though there were a few hiccups. About half of the menus at the table were missing the inside pages, and check-ins from the staff were a bit slow at times--especially while we were trying to set up our presentation tech (connecting to Wi-Fi, tracking down an extension cord, etc.). We ordered several appetizers for the table: conch fritters, crab cakes, Caribbean beef pockets, and Saratoga chips. All of them were well received. It was my first time trying conch fritters--I expected something closer to calamari, but they were more like hush puppies (minus the classic Southern cornmeal flavor). The Saratoga chips, on the other hand, were dangerously addictive--think movie theater popcorn where you just keep reaching for more. For the main course, most of us ordered the scallops, and they were incredible. Total flavor bomb. I swapped the au gratin potatoes for mashed potatoes and nearly overdid it--they were super garlicky and completely addictive. For dessert, I took home the peanut butter mousse pie along with a half dozen cookies. I loved that they warmed up the chocolate chip cookies so they tasted like they had just come out of the oven. They also had a subtle cinnamon/cardamom note that made them stand out. Overall, it's a great spot for food, and the back rooms plus dedicated parking lot make it especially convenient for larger group dinners or presentations.

The ingredients always taste and feel very fresh, the proportion of rice to fish is always perfect and it's very easy to eat with chopsticks and doesn't fall apart. This is always my first choice any time I'm in the mood for sushi, the top quality has proven to be very consistent! I would say the Hamachi Nigri and Romantic Roll are probably my favorites, but I really enjoy exploring their menu too since everything is so good. My husband loves the Sweet Potato Roll best (: The service is always great. We are a little more on the shy and quiet side but every time we go, the people there are super kind, friendly, attentive and always have a greeting and a goodbye. It really makes you feel valued. On Sunday around seven, the restaurant was practically empty. Sushi boats typically contain sashimi, nigiri, and at least two special rolls selected by the chef. The Titanic at Ichiban comes with a Christmas Roll (spicy crunchy tuna, avocado, red tobiko) and a Honado Roll (tempura fried roll with spicy tuna, avocado, cream cheese). We asked whether it's possible to have a roll without cream cheese. It turned out we couldn't substitute the Honado Roll. So, we asked just to omit the cream cheese. A while later, our server came back with a proposal: for an extra charge, we could choose any other roll we wanted. By that time, we decided to have the original version of the Honado Roll with cream cheese. So, there was a bit of a hitch right at the start. With the Titanic boat, you choose between a miso soup or a salad. The soup was too salty but generally tasty. Now, very briefly about the sushi itself. We enjoyed almost everything. The Christmas Roll was very good. The salmon was superb. The fried Honado Roll came without the cream cheese, and I thought it was the least tasty sushi roll I have ever had. The shrimp nigiri were definitely a disappointment as well. Our server was pleasant and tried to be helpful from the beginning. Later, strangely, she came over to our table right in the middle of our conversation, while we were still enjoying our meal, and asked if we needed a container for leftovers. Leftovers?! I immediately thought the restaurant was about to close and that we had overstayed our welcome, but that wasn't the case. She brought us the bill right after that, even though we hadn't asked for it yet. So, for some reason, she simply tried to speed up our exit. I'm sure Ichiban serves very good food (we saw takeouts being prepared), but I won't be going back soon, definitely not for a Titanic. One more thing, and it's definitely a downer. We received twelve pieces of nigiri instead of fourteen. I only noticed it later, while looking through the photos.

The craziest part about it is that Winfield's Pub is literally just 10 minutes from my House. A conveniently small place that packs big Bold Flavors. Like as you are driving down Ridge Road towards the main Lackawanna area. A place that if you want to enjoy, you'd have to park in front of it or park on the Side Streets of the neighborhood across from it and walk over. After trying out their Food at a Stillwater Farm Dinner consisting or Birria Tacos and Sausage stuffed Chicken Breast. To me that was a nice welcoming Card telling me to come right away instead of wasting more time ignoring the Place. You walk up 3 Steps and in you are greeted by the Owner's wife Sherryl, the Owner and the Head of Winfield's (Tab Daulton) is running the show making sure food gets pumped out of their Small Kitchen. While their son Thomas is at the Bar making Cocktails of the highest Quality with some of the most unique names that I've ever heard. My 1st visit was enjoying a Birthday Dinner with loved ones in the center of the Restaurant. While going over the menu, I had my 1st Cocktail called The Ghostwriter in a tall cylindrical glass that had Gin, Herbal Liqueur, Coconut, Lime, Lemongrass Syrup & Dill. Sweet and Herbaceous. Next up was some Fresh made Focaccia Bread studded with Rosemary, Garlic, Tomatoes and Zucchini that was so Warm and Flavorful like it just came right out the Oven. You know I like to drink Beer and cook with it too, I couldn't help but get myself a cup of their Beer Cheese soup with Bratwurst and Housemade Croutons. Every single Spoonful I took was Rich with a hint of Spicy heat at the end. Next up was a plate off Duck Confit Poutine with Goat Cheese (I opted for that instead of Cheese Curds). You might look at it and see a big globby mess but what I saw and what I ate was pure Gluttonous Heaven. French Fries, bits of Rich and Tender Duck Meat and mild and Tangy Cheese which equaled a comforting Bite. Next was another Cocktail I got called the Dirty Harry (named after one of Clint Eastwood's best-known roles). Another drink that hit hard consisting of Pineapple, Doctor Bird Rum, Boomsa Herbal Liquor and Banana Shrub Jam. While waiting for my main course, I tried some of Nathan's BBQ Pork Belly Burnt Ends. Who doesn't like tender Pieces of Meat with the outside bring Crispy while the Meat inside just melts away on your Tongue. For our Entrees, everyone enjoyed something different like Nathan and Brianna having Seared Chicken with Vegetables, Mike enjoying a Burger, Rick just getting a few Appetizers, Grandma Carol eating Fish Tacos, Jimmy and Kathy enjoying a Steak. While I got myself Seared Scallops over Sweet Corn Risotto with Tarragon. This looked to me and ate like a Summer Dish, why on earth was it on the Menu during close to Fall/Winter, I don't know. But I'll say this, I loved every bite, you get Sweetness from both the Seafood and the Corn with the Tarragon at the end giving it a light hit of Licorice. Thomas kindly gave me a Complimentary Drink while waiting for Dessert called the Legislation #2. It had Rye Whiskey, Dry Vermouth, Orange Cognac and Acidic Phosphate. While it had all those Ingredients, it was a simple looking Drink with a Jurassic sized Ice Cube in it. But I will say this, this drink packed one heck of a Potent Punch. To finish off the Meal, I got myself a big slice of Guinness Chocolate Cake. One of my favorite Beers has been Transformed into a Dessert. It had such a Deep chocolate Flavor with richness from the frosting packed in between each layer. I walked over and personally thank Tab and his Crew for the great Food that night. The only issue we had was waiting to get our Checks, but other than that everything went great. Another one to cross off my list, another restaurant that I will no longer Ignore. Winfield's better be ready for some more Visits from me in the Future. !!!
