First time in a very long time eating at the Beverly Glen Deli; many years, to be honest. I've always enjoyed the cozy, comfy booths inside, though they have almost as many tables outside for folks who like to dine al fresco. The staff is uniformly friendly, the place is clean as a whistle, and they have an impressively extensive menu for a small restaurant. I ordered the 2nd Avenue, which is their version of Langer's #19: Pastrami (or corned beef) on rye with Swiss, Cole Slaw, and Russian Dressing. The sandwich is a generous portion, and nicely composed: it's very easy for such a stack to fall apart, but theirs stays intact. The pastrami was warm and juicy without being fatty, and the Swiss had a nice funk that was tamed by the sweetness of the Russian Dressing. The final component, the Cole Slaw, was a really nice surprise: creamy, though the cabbage retained its crunch and enough of its true taste to give the usually-forgettable condiment some memorable character. The potato salad on the side was top quality, but had a bit too much egg and mustard for my taste. My wife's Breakfast Combo of Scrambled Eggs, French Toast, and Bacon was standard issue and nothing to write home about. In fact, it seemed on a completely different level than my sandwich, and you can get much better expressions of this diner staple at many other local places. I think at a deli like this, your best bet for breakfast is to stick with the "deli style" choices, such as Lox & Eggs & Onions or Pastrami & Eggs, etc. Our server, Crystal, was friendly and helpful and took very good care of us, checking in several times during the meal, even though the place got increasingly busy and she took on a bunch of other tables. She's a good egg. All in all, a nice lunch for me and a so-so breakfast for my wife. But we will be back before long, and I'm excited to see what the next visit will bring. read more

Took total 1 hour for online door dash order, 30 minutes after the recommended pick up time even when I was told it would be a few minutes. Waited at the restaurant for 40 minutes for items- HK breakfast combo and corned beef hash. I've been coming to this deli for 10+ years and haven't had to wait this long. I have had the unfortunate privilege of ordering takeout from this place a few times now, all with terrible turnaround times for incorrectly prepared food. This most recent endeavor involved a 1 hour wait for an incredibly underwhelming corned beef hash, with soggy home fries and incorrectly prepared eggs. I have lived in Sherman Oaks for many years, but I had no idea this deli existed until last week! Thank goodness, I've found them. Their Matzoh Ball Soup saved me when I had no appetite after catching a nasty flu. The delivery order came in quicker than expected, and the soup was still hot to the touch, just the way I liked it! So I've come tot his place for years but for various reasons have myself there more lately due to being in the area. I love the location and the fact that it still feels like an old school small diner. The service is always incredibly kind and in that neighborhood I've witness some of the patrons being less than friendly and patient and the staff always serves with a smile. The food is good. It really depends on what you order. I always pretty much get a Cobb wrap. I'm addicted to their steak fries and blue cheese dressing! That stuff is seriously good. It's both French fry dressing and salad dressing (because there is a difference). I've also had some of their sandwiches which are pretty good. We have been eating here forever and love this deli! The menu is extensive and everything is good! Service is very good and always friendly. Ambience is that of a hustle bustle deli but you can always have a good conversation without it being too noisy. We love the tuna melt and the Locke, eggs and onions, and almost everything else on the menu. We had great food, great service, and a convenient location. The food we liked the best included sky-high turkey sandwiches, borscht soup, Greek salad, and their fabulous stuffed potato is a meal by itself. The servers were very accommodating and friendly but-not-in-your-face friendly. Had this delivered by Doordash. We were both hopeful and worried. It's a little far, so were fearing a little that we'd love it and wouldn't be able to get it again (farther places tend to drop off DoorDash) Well we didn't have to worry. Soooooooo bland!! Everything was just so bland. It was all kinda tasteless. Maybe they have a lot of heart patients, and they cook without any salt...so, added some. It's still bland, but at least edible. One star is it! 1) Brown Avocado: Yep, that's right. Brown avocado on top of my omelette and more brown avocado inside my omelet. I sent it back twice. 2) I ordered sour dough toast, buttered. The toast arrived unbuttered and cold. Sent that back, too. 3) I opened my Aunts omelette (we ordered the same thing, Bacon avocado omelette with cheese) and looked at the avocado, all of it was green. Finally, my omelette arrived. The server informed me that the cooks put the fresh avocado on top of my omelette instead if inside. Okay. But then, a person claiming to be manager came to our table to tell me that avocado turns brown during the cooking process. (Okay, I'm a cook and I know avocado turns brown when old or left exposed to the air for a period of time). So, I said, "BS! I opened my Aunts omelette and all of her cooked avocado is green. Don't lie to me." She angrily shouted at me that she's not a liar and avocados turn brown during the cooking process and put her finger in my face as she stood over me as I sat in my chair. I was telling her to leave us alone and she shouted over me. Someone get that woman some help... and fire her. No trained Manager behaves like that to a customer. Finally, my elderly blind and crippled Aunt stood up and said, "I've been coming here for 29 years. I want a credit for her meal because of the poor service and the brown avocado!" The manager said, "Oh, Miss, don't stand up, I recognize you, I'll be right back. She comes back giving 50% off. My Aunt says no. Finally the bill is corrected, they took the poor quality food off. We paid the bill. Tip? I have to say that I was a server. My kids were servers working through school. I tip very well. However, our food arrived and there wasn't salt or pepper, nor jam on the table for toast (a fave). We asked for these things and only S&P arrived. With food being sent back several times, he could have been gracious. Instead, blank stares and unwilling to say, "I'm sorry, my apologies. Let me correct this for you." I don't think they trained him well. He never came back. He didnt bring the check. He sent a busboy who delivered the entire bill without discount (my Aunt had already requested a discount) Next came the angry hostile manager who thinks avocados turn brown in an omelette with 50% off. The third time they got it right. Ya know? I just wanted to have a nice afternoon and eat a pleasant meal with my Aunt. A patron should never receive an angry finger in their face while a manager yells over them! C'mon Beverly Glen Deli! Do better! My review will remain here. read more

Ordered delivery through UberEats (as I have on many other occasions). The food arrived hot, packed well, and organized in the bag! On the order of a ground beef steak with mash potatoes turkey gravy was received and could not be used! I think the restaurant should know to send beef gravy with a beef entree. Also, as a person with celiac disease. I have noticed that some sandwiches have the option to change the bread to gluten free bread, I would love to see that option available for more sandwiches and even burgers! read more

This deli hits the spot! I've eaten here twice now and both times have gotten great quality food. Today I came for breakfast and ordered a 2 item omelette (I asked for bacon and bell peppers); for the sides I asked for potatoes and an English muffin. For the sweet tooth I ordered French toast. When I say everything was delicious! The bacon was super crispy, the omelette was perfectly cooked and folded so cutely. I could smell the cinnamon and sugar from my French toast before it hit the table. Even their butter is good! We sat outside since the weather was perfectly sunny. Only reason I don't give 5 stars is the service is a bit slow. They were definitely busy but overall not enough staffing; at least not for the Al fresco tables. I love coming here. Always happy with the service, my wife loves her perfectly toasted tuna melt and I usually get the Chinese chicken (in a spinach) wrap or a chili burger, my friend loves their veggie/hummus platter, and for breakfast I dig their Matzah Brei. Actually, almost everything I get on the menu I really love. We come in weekends or when I drive over the hill. Also on Saturdays you can check out the farmers market in the parking lot before or after. P.S. I can't believe people complain about the decor. I LOVE 70s diner vibes, it's exactly what it should be and it's clean. I ordered dollar pancakes for my kids. Not only were they connected together but they were so overdone they and the turkey bacon were burned black and my kids couldn't eat, not surprisingly it tasted terrible. My cinnamon roll French toast was replaced with soggy undercooked French toast as well... not sure if I'd have eaten it anyhow compared to the rest of the food. Nice shopping center but extremely disappointed with the Beverly Glen Deli. Terribly slow, non responsive service and way overpriced... a $25 salad that was mediocre at best. Brown avocado on the plate which was unacceptable and overall a salad on par with a fast food restaurant for $10. I won't return! read more

Not a great deli but certainly good. I had a turkey on rye that was fine, and also the tri-salad plate, also fine. I suppose I'll give the pastrami a try, but that's where most delis fall short - the only truly great pastrami in LA is Langer's or Daughter's Deli (owned by the daughter of Langer). I came here for a pick me up. I ordered the turkey pastrami sandwich. Paid for the turkey pastrami sandwich. And due to covid, there was no outdoor seating so I took my food elsewhere. Opened it up and came to see that they just put turkey. No pastrami at all. In addition to that, the turkey was pretty stale. The middle parts were alright but the outside layer was crunchy. I also got the potatoe salad, and for me, it wasn't that edible. It was just way too sour. Probably won't be coming back. I was there on a Friday afternoon at 4 for a light snack. The restaurant was not busy, yet the service was slow. The curly fries were lukewarm and mostly bits and pieces. However,The chicken tortilla soup was tasty and served in a crunchy taco shell bowl. Finally, I had to use the bathroom. Only the men's was available so I ventured in. Big mistake. It was HORRIFIC!
