I love Mendocino and have been a regular for a while. I went in the other week for my usual order, but unfortunately I noticed an employee behind the counter coughing loudly and repeatedly. While everyone gets sick occasionally, what concerned me most was that there was zero attempt to cover their mouth, turn away, or take any steps to prevent the cough from reaching the food prep area. Food safety and hygiene are really important to me, especially at a place I enjoy so much. With having a background in the food industry, I hope management can remind staff and one another, to follow basic precautions (like masking when ill or stepping away) so customers don't have to worry. I am very impressed by Mendocino Farms to have listened to customer feedback and brought this favorite back - many thanks. Get it during this limited time while you can. It was actually worth 4.5 Stars. We were greeted by the friendly Troy who took great care of us, let us sample a couple of soups, and offered suggestions. Everyone knows Mendocino is known for quality! My work will bring us lunch every once in a while, but it wasn't til I had their salad that I fell in love! Unfortunately my salad wasn't included in the door dash order so we had to place a second order. The WINTER CITRUS WITH GOAT CHEESE SALAD is a salad I will wait for though. It is packed with oranges, but I do wish there was more salad in general. It's a bit small for the price. The mint surprised me a bit but it wasn't a bad addition. I stopped by this Mendocino Farms today because an ice truck was set up in front of this place so I was planning on getting that afterwards. I placed my order online for their farm club sandwich and customized it. I didn't want avocado or red onions in it. I found parking in the parking garage located at the back of this place. When I walked inside, there a rack for online or take out orders but there was no order on it. So I checked in with one of the worker and they keep it in the back which I think is great so no one can take your food. I ate my food inside of the place and it's a nice area to just sit to eat your food. I thought the sandwich was okay but if I had the choice, I likely won't order it again here. This place is more like healthy food choices and pricer than other places but I don't think people mind that I brought my own French fries and soda from places nearby. read more

I have visited many Mendocino Farms restaurant in the greater LA area and this was the worst take out experiance I had. Ambiance: LOUD - it was hard to hear someone speaking 2 feet in front of me unless they were yelling. It did not make you want to stay and eat inside. Cleanliness: The women's restroom was disgusting. There was toilet paper outside the stalls and inside was much worse. Both toilets were dirty and you could tell someone had not been in recently. Service: take out order was a bit behind. No big deal. What did make me a bit frustrated was the staff. I was asked 3 times by different staff what the name on the order was. Two staff members simply looked at the screen and then said something I could not hear and walk away. The last person to check on my order was the manager. He did apologize for the wait and my order was out 3 minutes later. My maintain away was that the establishment seems unorganized and dirty. Completely changed the menu. They don't take $100 bills. They make it so difficult to orde or make changes to your order or enjoy a visit, then ask for a tip for taking your order. The girl repeated back my order and said the things I wanted extra of she removed?! Couscous was supposed to be to go. Asked for an extra dressing and both on the side. Delivered with the dressing tossed and no extra dressing. The guy who brought it to the table didn't stay long enough for me to tell him either of those things. Total fail. We ordered the Peruvian steak sandwich and Mama Chen's salad. Both were very good! I really enjoyed the salad dressing and freshness of the ingredients! The cashier was very personable and helpful with both food and drink selections. Three stars were given for the dirty tables and benches. We ended up having to wipe one down ourselves in order to have a clean place to sit. The floor also needed to be swept. There were several areas that had trash and food droppings. I tried the Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada (with light dressing), which was a good amount of food at an affordable price. All of the ingredients were freshly chopped and tasted great, and I especially loved the crispness of their ingredients. The only improvement I can maybe request is to ensure that the vegetables were all fresh since there were a few lettuce pieces that were browning. Happy Lunar New Year! What better way to celebrate than getting Mendo's Original Pork Belly Banh Mi. I love that I have two locations to choose from in my neighborhood but the Sherman Oaks location has a such a low key vibe. This location is at the intersection of Hazeltine/Ventura Blvd inside the same plaza as Islands and Verizon. There's a large (free) parking structure at the back of the restaurant which is convenient. The service today was stellar, the cashier was so polite taking my order. When the sandwiches were dropped off, our server was so sweet and made sure we were taken care of. I can't think of a better way to celebrate the Lunar New Year than to enjoy a Banh Mi sandwich on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. I'm very disappointed to see a drift away from 'the good old days' towards bean-counter disregard for exceeding customer expectations. Two examples: The pork belly banh mi is gone. Hibiscus flavored teas isn't a differentiating factor- everybody has that. I drive by this location daily on my way to my early morning workouts but had never been to this location. My parents wanted something quick and simple and suggested Mendo. As there are 3 surrounding the local area, I suggested we try this one as it was in the direction we all were heading. As most of us were not super hungry, my mother ordered a cup of the Thai Sweet Potato Soup (Puree of sweet potatoes, red bell peppers, shallots, coconut milk, lime, Thai red curry, ginger, lemongrass, almond butter). My father and I had ordered what we thought was going to be the Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad (Shaved, roasted chicken breast, napa cabbage & kale slaw, carrots, bean sprouts, baby spinach, chopped romaine, scallions, cilantro, toasted cashews, crispy wontons with Miso Mustard Sesame dressing). So as we were ordering, they told us they were out of the Miso Mustard dressing and suggested the dressing that goes with the Thai Mango Salad (Shaved, roasted chicken breast, ramen noodles, napa cabbage & kale slaw with carrots & bean sprouts, baby spinach, sliced mango, honey roasted almonds, pickled daikon & carrots, Thai basil, fresh mint, cilantro, lime, and fried shallots with Thai almond dressing). What came to the table instead was the Thai Mango Salad. Due to the dressing being adjusted, it seems like they misunderstood and just made the overall wrong salad. I prefer this one but don't usually order it due to the higher cost and calories. They were nice enough to make the Chinese Chicken for us to take with us. Also, while my mother ordered a cup of soup, they brought her a bowl, so I shared it with her. It is moments of these when businesses mess up that they make it up to the guest which makes for true service. I will be back at this location!! Not sure if they are using a different blend because it has red cabbage in it now but I am getting old brown lettuce mixed in with very little bitter kale. I've enjoyed their sandwiches. Their menu tends to switch except the Peruvian Steak and Not so Fried Chicken. Their Thanksgiving special November to Remember is good but this year it was a little more bland than before. Not sure if they've taken out some ingredients and changed the bread but it was kind of bland and smaller. I also noticed some of their sandwiches are smaller than before. Flavor is good though.
