They penciled me down for my wedding cake appt a week on a different date and was not even apologetic. My fiancé and I came again and they brought us out 4 already pre-selected slices ... We didn't even have an option to chose the type of cake flavor and cream filling. They even charged $60 to deliver it to our venue which is only like 10 miles away. On top of that, to order fondant is an extra $500...seriously? Just for a thin dough layer? Our circle (cheaper than square size) 4 tier plain (no additional decorations) came out to be $1500. Therefore, we decided to go with Sweet Traders in Huntington Beach. Not only will she put fresh flowers on our 4 tier square cake for FREE, her delivery is $15, our cake is much more detailed, we chose OUR OWN flavors and fillings, fondant and glittery spray included... All for $800!!! So NO thank you Beverlys Best! I was thinking of giving them one extra star because they cake was mediocre good. But I can find that anywhere. Btw, if you plan to get red velvet, make sure to pound our more money per serving because red velvet to them is a "premium flavor". HA! read more

I should have written this a long time ago but this bakery is amazing!!! They did my wedding cake for last August and it turned out absolutely beautiful and so delicious. It was so easy to make an appointment to sit down and have a cake tasting and the owner is so sweet (pun intended) and accommodating. I had a budget in mind and what I wanted would have gone way over that so she suggested a few things to help us and it was the perfect price. She not only made the cake stunning but she delivered it in the hot weather right on schedule. She was recommended to me by the coordinator of the venue that we used for our reception because they have worked with her for numerous events before. I am now expecting our second baby due in September and will be going back to get a special cake for our baby shower soon. I really would've rated 2.5 but in this case I decided to round down. I really like their cakes and that says alot because i really dont like cake. I've ordered a few cakes from here before and I always get compliments on its texture and flavor so rating the CAKE itself it's a 5. I ordered my baby's baptism cake and was told that there really wasn't enough time to get a custom cake and that it would be better to pick a generic design (ie flowers or polka dots). I didn't exactly go in there with a specific design in mind but I was disappointed that we didn't get to play with the idea of one. So I decided to go with flowers, picked my colors, then asked that a cross be added (its a baptism). The girl told me it would be an extra $5 to add a design and I was ok with that. Also, I thought I had asked for glitter and thought the $5 was covering the glitter and cross but it turns out it was only for the cross and there was no glitter. Anyway, my husband went to pick up the cake and when he got back I was so excited to see it but when he showed it to me I couldn't hide my pure disappointment. No glitter but I did speak to the owner and we got that straightened out so no biggie there it was my mistake for not making sure that glitter was written on the cake order before initialing. What really got me was that my little bit of custom design of a cross on the cake was merely 2 lines of purple icing. Seriously I could've done that myself and save $5. I did voice this with the owner as well but really what could be done so I just let it go. My friend also ordered a cake from here and got a custom design re: yo gabba gabba and again the cake was delicious but the design not impressive considering how much it is plus they messed up on the nose and it was so obvious. I still go to this bakery though!!!!! I buy their treats and for my birthday I bought my cake there but one that was already made and decorated. I figure this way, I won't have to pay for all the "extra" designs such as the ribbons and I can still enjoy the cake. All in all, the cake itself is great but getting it custom - I've been disappointed twice that I would NOT recommend it to my friends. Um ... the only complaint that I have is that they don't have a location in Los Angeles! I'm known amongst my friends as an obsessive Red Velvet Cupcake enthusiast. I've tried them all over the place. So when I was visiting friends recently in Fullerton, I was told that I simply HAD to try Beverly's Best Bakery's cupcakes. Well ... no one has to twist my arm on that one. So I went in and ordered a Red Velvet cupcake. As I looked at the menu I was stunned to see how great the prices were--a regular cupcake that would cost $3 in greater L.A. cost only $1.50. So, I ordered my cupcake ... and then decided that since I was there ... and everything looked so delectable ... I really OUGHT to try other things, too. A lemon bar, a chocolate chip cookie, a brownie, a scone, a peanut butter cookie, a creme brulee tart and a snickerdoodle all found a home in a box with my precious red velvet cupcake--and then ultimately in my belly. Everything was delicious. Everything. Fresh and scrumptious. The lemon bar was to die for ... the brownie was as rich and chocolatey as one would hope ... and the cupcake ... ohhhhh the cupcake. Pitch perfect. I now weigh 10 pounds more than I did before I went in ... but that won't stop me from going back the next time I get a chance. I can see why it's the "Best." read more

DOOOOOOD that thing was to DIE FOR!!!! i felt it had a little TOO much crust, but if you like crust then you will love this! the custard is creamy!!!! wow it was soooooooo good... so i hunted the bakery down and its freaking TINY sooooooo if you are going to go to the bakery and are not familiar with the area, its located on brea blvd and its cross street is juniper (tiny street).... look for the enterprise rent a car sign cuz its located a few doors down.... MANGO TART: YUMMY! once again too much crust but nice combo of white chocolate/mango mousse/apricot jam? FRUIT TART: YUMMY! too much crust, great custard filling with a great mixture of fruit! CARROT CAKE: i am really picky with carrot cake, i dont like it ust orange and spongie... i like it with the nuts and the creamy goodness on the outside... i like theirs! TIRIMISU: comes in a cup.... its good if you like the kind thats not so firm (which is what i like)... but i took one bite and LOVED it! *sigh* i had to save 1/2 for later cuz i know i'd want some more! BEAR CLAW: i havent had a good one like this in years! service is really good, i had 4 people ask me if i needed help (i was just waiting for my server to ring me up).... i am DYING to try some of their specialty cakes!!!!! if i worked here, i would eat something different everyday and i would weigh about 400 lbs.... Beverly's forgot to make my daughter's birthday cake! On the day of the pick-up, I got a call to inform me that they somehow missed the order slip. They tried to make up for it by giving us four small cakes. We had to go with that or risk not having a cake at all. To make things worse, the cakes were way too sweet. Even with a large glass of milk, I couldn't finish a thin slice. Lastly, they were expensive, significantly more than Patty's Cakes. I'm going to Patty's from now on, never risking a special occasion with Beverly's again. read more

So, I have gone back to Beverly's Best a few (or more) times since my review and I was thoroughly impressed with the improvement of the girls at the front counter; they were courteous, efficient, informative and CALM! Tucked in among a non-descript little strip mall lies perhaps Fullerton's best bakery. Known best for their wedding cakes, this bakery has expanded their repertoire of baked goods as years pass by. Owned by two sisters who struggled to make ends meat when first starting out the bakery has expanded into what is essentially a "locals" bakery. Almost like Cheers, where everybody knows your name. The Chocolate Chip Scone is unlike any other I've had. Crusty and flaky on the outside, it is light and delicate on the inside, almost muffin like. The mini chocolate chips melt almost instantaneously and are very subtle in flavor. In fact, if you had your eyes closed, you probably wouldn't even know they were there. The Mini Tiramisu is placed in a dark chocolate cup. On top of a round disc of sponge cake, brushed with espresso and brandy, lies a creamy mix of tangy mascarpone cheese. Whipped cream dusted with cocoa powder finish the presentation. This is a nice little dessert and certainly lives up to its literal translation, "pick me up". The only complaint I have about this decadent dessert is that the dark chocolate on the bottom of the cup is rather thick and dominates the palate if bitten into. The Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake is a New York style cheesecake that is very dense, creamy and a little tangy. The crust is a nice thick graham cracker crust on the bottom and much thinner on the sides. What seemed odd about the dessert is that it had a gelatinous texture and taste on the top, like many Asian desserts, which distracted from the rest of the cheesecake. The Mexican Wedding Cookie, or Russian Tea Cookie, looks like the Barry Bonds of this type of cookie, i.e., it looks likes it gone through a cycle of steroid. The thing is huge. It's about the size of a Hostess Snowball. This classic cookie is akin to a shortbread cookie. It's buttery and vanilla flavor explodes on the palate. There are also ground almonds, which are actually much larger than the cookies that I have had in the past. The larger sized almond pieces was a pleasant surprised because it gave the cookie a nuttier taste. The only thing that I did not like about this cookie was that it was heavily sprinkled with powdered sugar which made it a little too sweet. The Brownie has a nice thick, crunchy crust. Underneath lies a rich chocolatey concoction that is both cakey and fudgy at the same time. The outer parts of the brownie are more cakey, while the center is nicely sticky and fudgy. The brownie is topped in what tastes like a light carmel glaze with walnuts and mini chocolate chips. The Coconut Raspberry Crumble is a nice combination of flavors and textures. The bottom consists a crumbly pastry with oatmeal in it. The filling is a thick, raspberry jam that contains seeds for added texture. There is a crumble topping that is slightly sweet. Toasted coconut tops everything and gives it a nice nutty flavor. This is a nice light dessert that is not overly sweet. The Lemon Bar has a flaky and buttery crust and is filled with a sweet, yet tangy lemon curd. The entire bar is dusted with powdered sugar. This sort of tastes like an enclosed Lemon Meringue Pie without the meringue. The tartness from the lemons is refreshing while not being overly sweet. The Pumpkin Coffee Cake tastes like an ordinary coffee cake on the top, but underneath lies a thin layer of spiced pumpkin filling. The crumble topping is dusted with powdered sugar, but does not make the dessert overly sweet. This is a new take on the classic Pumpkin Pie. Updated review: There is a great deal to be said about people who are willing to take ownership for their mistakes (which we all make from time to time), and to make up for those mistakes. After my initial review I was contacted by BB. They offered a sincere apology for the mistake, and asked a number of questions about what i liked and didn't like. The sincerity was evident. The employee who contacted me seemed genuinely concerned. That's a good employee they have there. At the conclusion of our conversation she offered a nominal credit toward a future purchase. I didn't ask for it. It's really not in my nature to do so for things like this. She simply offered it. Today, months later, I finally took them up on it. Not only are the pastries amazing but so is the owner and employees. I drove my grandmother all the way from corona because this is her favorite bakery and the owner was beyond sweet. An employee even helped me carry all my goodies to the car while helping my grandmother through the door. SERVICE REVIEW: I walked in today to order my daughter's birthday cake! It was about noon & it was nice & quiet. The decor is just awesome! I was greeted by Garrett. I let him know I was interested in ordering a cake that I would need in a few weeks. He showed me sizes & let me know how many each size would feed. We finally decided on a size & he brought his iPad out to help choose the design, flavor, & filling. I already had an idea of my daughter's cake & asked if he could do something similar. He said anything was possible which made me happy! He also pitched in ideas like adding glitter which I loved! I was a little torn between the filling & he let me sample the 2 I was torn between. I thought this was so nice of him! I also addressed my last concern. The cake being moist. I read a few yelp reviews & all seem to say the cake is dry & falls apart. He assured me it would be nice & moist. Hopefully it's like that when the day comes! I was originally going to go to Patty's Cakes but they could not accommodate the design I wanted since they only make whipped frosting cake. I'm kind of glad they turned me away. They have the cutest and yummiest cake ever! And they're at a decent price. I paid about $27 for a chocolate cake with oreo filling which fed over 10 people. The cake may seem small but they're so freaking tall!! It didn't fit the box it came in. So a small thin slice is more than enough for a person. I didn't know cake could taste so good! Let's get one thing straight--I am NOT a cake person. I like icing, I like the filling and I love cupcakes, but i am NOT a fan of cake in general. So I was not looking forward to cake tasting for the wedding since I have this secret theory that wedding cakes are more about the look than the flavour. I especially am not a fan of chocolate cake, so I thought there was no way my future husband and I could agree on a cake. Beverly's Best threw that theory on it's backside and then knocked it out for the count. Their cake is fantastic. Moist, but not too sticky or gooey, not chewy or dense, but not too poofy or air-filled either. The frosting is the perfect level of sweet, and doesn't set your teeth on edge and the fillings are just to die for. We ended up choosing them to make the wedding cake and got a four tier cake. Two levels were chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling, and two layers were chocolate cake with bavarian cream filling (my favourite). The icing was white design on ivory in buttercream. We had the different layers designed to look like they were underwater--the bottom layer was a seaweed design, followed by starfish, then fish, then waves. Not only was it a beautiful cake, but it was delicious. We got an too many compliments on it to count. The actual store is teeny, just enough room for a few people to stand in front of the counter before the line has to go out the door. Sitting down for a cake consultation isn't the most comfortable thing, but it's worth it. My best friend went with me for the final confirmation and we bought a fruit tart to share--delicious and huge--more than enough for the two of us. I would highly recommend Beverly's Best for whatever your occasion is--whether it's wedding, anniversary, birthday or just a pastry because it's Tuesday. I can't wait to pull out the top layer of our cake in June...I'm sure it will be just as delicious and beautiful as it was. I've been going to Beverly's Best since I moved down to Orange County 4 years ago. They have the best cakes by far. I love the consistency of the cake itself - it's very soft, but dense (if that makes sense) - kinda like fancy wedding cakes. It's not too sweet and the flavors are really good. My fave filling is the Kahlua Bavarian. So good! I went to Beverly's best today to buy my parents a cake for their anniversary. They usually sell out of ready made cakes by 10am on Saturdays. I called around noon and spoke with Taylor. They had a couple of cakes left and she was able to set one aside for me until I got there. They always have excellent customer service. I come here regularly for cakes for family events. My fave is the red velvet cake. It is so moist but the flavor is delicate. I also get the bavarian cream white cake. The frosting is not too sweet or overwhelming. The cupcakes are cute and delicious. They are a perfect snack and quick fix for a large group. If you have a particular taste in mind, then order ahead. The more ornate, the earlier you should order. However, a week or so more than sufficient in my experience. Worst case scenario, there are typically some sweets already prepared. I would not count on it though! The service is very helpful. The young ladies are more than happy to go over all types of designs and flavors. If you can, pick up your cake on any day but a Saturday morning. There is no special pick up line. Thus, the line may be out the door and on the sidewalk on a Saturday. Im extremely disappointed in this bakery. I placed an order for a 60th birthday party with an edible image. I emailed the picture while I was still in the bakery ordering and I was very open to them using their decorative skills like really have at it. I arrived to pick up a cake with no image and very plain decorative outside. Like really I paid more than $100 for this? I could have done this at home and paid $10! They couldn't fix it because their imaging printer is at their other location. I don't have time to wait around for y'all's mistakes. It's crazy because my friend Aimee and I usually stop by and on occasion after school before the drive home, but last semester we didn't do it as much. Holy moly. I came to Beverly's Best for my wedding cake because my mother-in-law raved about their cakes. I'm all about supporting local businesses, and after being disappointed at a very commercial place (for price and personality), I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed! The tasting in itself was a blast. My MOH, a bridesmaid, mom, and my parents-in law all joined me and the staff there couldn't have been more kind to us. They offered us coffee and other refreshments as we perused their photos of past wedding cakes. Carmela sat down with us to brainstorm the cake, and she was not only kind, but she was also patient with me as I had NO idea what I wanted in a cake. My parents-in-law still had their cake topper from when they got married 35 years ago, and I wanted to incorporate that into our cake. The woman helped us coordinate the colors of the frosting with the cake topper. She listened to what I wanted and made suggestions based not only on aesthetics but also on budget. I never felt pressured to buy from her; in fact, she seemed stunned when we said we were ready to pay right then. I didn't feel rushed, and I was DEFINITELY not treated rudely by ANY employee I encountered at Beverly's - quite the opposite! The price was very reasonable (I had shopped around a bit before coming here) and the taste truly is unbeatable. I tend to think cake is something your guests won't remember about your wedding - that was not true of Beverly's! I especially recommend the lemon-raspberry. It was a huge hit! We met with Beverly's 4 months before my daughter's wedding to contract 150 specialty cupcakes as parting gifts for our guests. We were told to come in 3 weeks prior to the wedding to confirm the final arrangements. Imagine my surprise when we arrived at their shop and were told they would not be able to deliver as promised! The owner came out and told us that since our wedding was on a Sunday, they would be closed and unable to accommodate us. Shouldn't this be told to the customer on their very first visit? We specifically told them the ceremony was on a Sunday. Plus, the owner never apologized for the mix-up and was rude! Fortunately, we found a beautiful, quality bakery, "Simply Irresistible" that was more than happy to help us. My wife and I went to Beverly's Best Bakery (3B) because we needed a cake for our 1st anniversary and because of the rave from the TLC channel. It was also convenient that the place is 10 minutes from our house. When we got there late in the afternoon, there were already a line of soccer mom's getting cakes or cookies for their kids (about 4-5 already waiting in line) So, while my wife looked through the book for the cake design, I ordered a brownie. I didn't know what kind of brownies it was, but it was one of the best and the riches brownies i have ever eaten. Fast forward to saturday... I went and picked up the cake at 9am. While I was there, I also got the huge eclair (when posted on facebook, everyone commented on how big it was ^_^ ), cannolis, and a peanut butter cup brownies :) The eclair was hugeeee but the best part is that there was a lot of filling and the filling was not overwhelmingly sweet. The cake was a hit among our friends. The frosting and the fillings were the perfect balance of sweet and the banana cake was delicious. I'd still prefer Rosmoor bakery for a wedding cake. But for everyday use and the price, I'd put BBB right at top of my list of bakery. This is a year too late, but I will tell you that this place is AMAZING. They did my wedding cake, and it was PERFECT, flavorful, and wonderfully decorated. The staff was very helpful and kind and more than willing to make our wedding cake wish come true. I know that some people claim that the owners are brash and bossy, but you know? THEY OWN A BUSINESS and have things to do. At the same time, at least for my husband and I, they made us feel like we were the only ones they cared about at that moment. They are a very acclaimed bakery and very busy, so I did not think twice when they interrupted our tasting to take a few calls for orders. The Girls at work got me a Birthday Cake from here and I LOVED IT! it was a 8 inch Round Marble Cake filled with Bavarian Cream and Fresh Strawberries, smothered with Cream Cheese Frosting.. YUM! not only was it Gorgeous looking (huge with pretty flowers on top) the cake itself was extremely moist and the cream cheese frosting was to die for! I visited Beverly's because I was craving a brownie, and I didn't want to make any myself because I didn't want a whole pan sitting around my house. I'm so glad that I found this place! This is a really cute bakery with really yummy cupcakes and brownies. I tried their red velvet cupcake and a peanut butter brownie. Both were delicious, but I remember and still think about that brownie. It was kind of amazing! The cupcake was really good, too, though. I'm always amazed by bakeries who make really dry cupcakes (how are they even in business?). Well, Beverly's is not one of those bakeries--the red velvet cupcake that I had was one of the best that I've ever had! The shop is pretty cute (kind of small)--decorated with a vintage 1950's bakery vibe. The girls who work there are really nice and offer excellent recommendations (one girl recommended that peanut butter brownie to me...). Overall, I was impressed with Beverly's and I will definitely be going there again next time I need a brownie fix! read more
