I am not a big #1 STAR reviewer but I have to say this experience sucked. Well thanks to BEVMO for inspiring me to write the review that follows. In all prices are mediocre, service was odd and if your are a worker at BEVMO and you are going to bring up one item because it is locked have the courtesy to bring up the other...it just 2nd grade basics of courtesy. Pro: 1. Free Parking Lot 2. Lots of Variety Con: 1. No Bathrooms . 2. Luis assisted me and laughs at various inappropriate moments and I think he was high. When I asked the checkout lady about him she stated "oh, he is interesting". Well tell you what I'm not interested in his levity. 3. Packaged all beverages in the same bag? I mean even the mini beverages with all the glass clacking together as I carried the bag out. Every other BEVMO I've been to has been better. Most likely if i ever go to a BEVMO again I will go to the one on San Pablo Ave. I was there years ago and still remember how nice and knowledgeable the team was there. read more

I have always thought of BevMo as a Toys 'R' Us for adults. Like a kid in a candy store when I go there. I am not an alcoholic but enjoy a wide range of adult beverages and spirits, including red wine, beer, Vodka (martinis), Bourbon/Whiskey (straight up), Rum (cuba libras), and Tequila (100% Agave only, please, no sugar-watered-down sh*t)--preferably with Sangrita chaser. The wine selection is huge, and I love that you can order online and schedule pickup at the nearest store. So I can take my time browsing at home in my PJs, fill a shopping cart with booze, and it's ready for pickup the next morning. God Bless America! For wines, I typically search for only 90-point wines (not counting Wilfred Wong's ratings) and keep my per-bottle budget under $20-$25 (the cheaper, the better). I end up getting a mixed case of 12 about every 2-3 months. I personally am not into buying whole cases of the same wine, and I rarely buy the same bottle twice (unless it's extra cheap and good for entertainment stash or taking to a friend's house). I look at wine drinking as an ongoing tasting adventure. BevMo also has a ton of snacks, a huge cheese selection and cigars. Again, like a kid in a candy store. Following are some of my favorite recommended spirits (outside of the more well-known standards); most (but not all) are well-priced (i.e. under $30-$40): - Vodka (I tend to stay away from flavored or infused for versatility): Pearl, 42 Below. Hangar One is awesome and from my town, Alameda, but pricier. - Tequila: this list could get long, but I'll go with Don Julio and El Tesoro Reposados. El Jimador is good, too. - Rum: Oronoco is sooo good--like liquid candy. It's the only rum I will drink neat. Addictive and worth the cost. - Bourbon: Eagle Rare. Yummy. - Everyday scotch: Famous Grouse. This is just an aside: I heard a rumor that Costco's "Kirkland" house brand of Vodka is actually GREY GOOSE in the bottle. Don't know if it's true, but probably worth buying a jug for a blind taste test!! I repeat: I am not an alcoholic. I take all of the above in moderation; it's good for the heart. I love BevMo but this location the staff are completely rude, and I will never be back. I ordered wine and champagne for a company event and since I was paying with a company credit card, I called to ask before I placed the online order if the primary cardholder had to be present since it was a company credit card. I was told no, as long as there were instructions in the special notes section of the order. In addition the person picking up the order needed to have a company business card, and also photo ID and be over age 21. Today I go pick up the order, and after waiting about 10 minutes for a sales associate to come up, he doesn't understand what I am picking up and why I presented my photo id and business card. He tells me only the cardholder with the credit card can pick up the order, I tell him no, that is not what you guys told me two days ago. So he calls over the loudspeaker "can an online order be picked up without the card holder being present if there are comments in the special notes section". This reminded me of the clerk in a drug store calling a price check on condoms. This guy was stupid, just call for a manager. Well the manager was just as rude to me as the associate. He justs says give it to him, and walks away. Not even bothering to verify the order is in my name or not. I definitely will not be back if they give a customer ordering close to $400 in alcohol polite customer service attitude and apoligizing for the confusion. read more

Not my regular BevMo, but the one I go to whenever I make a pit stop over at Cost Plus which is just across the street. Pretty decent selection of beer and wine -- also has a little area for cigars if you're into that kind of thing. Staff here has always been friendly, asking if I need assistance in finding anything or if I'm looking for any recommendations. Nothing about the store is necessarily mind-blowing, but neither is it a horrific experience every time I visit. Just your average beverage store. An aside that I noted (while frustratedly trying to hunt this down): if you're trying to shop for beer pong, PBR isn't sold here in packs larger than 12. So if that's your beverage of choice for the game, go to Safeway instead -- though they do sell larger sizes of Budweiser and Coors (if I remember correctly). read more

I wish the BevMo's in Los Angeles were this good. It's located in Jack London Square so we can pick up our libations, zoom zooms, and wham wham's before heading back to hotel. This store is big and there is plenty of parking. I really love this store because of the snack selection they have everything you need, including cute gifts and games. I love the chips and salsa and cheese and crackers. People here are very friendly as well, never a long line. read more

I don't care if you laugh at me for what I'm about to say. BevMo has a small but great selection of brie cheese. Seriously. Not that I went in there looking for it, but I stumbled upon the cheese case today and what do you know? They have my 2 favorite labels and for CHEAPER than anywhere else I've found. The same brand & size wedge I got today for $5.07 is usually $8.50 at Farmer Joe's/etc. This economy sucks, but a girl's gotta have her brie from time to time and now her wallet doesn't have to suffer so much. So, lets face it, if you want to find any type of liquor or a really vast (I didn't say great) choice of wine and beer, this is the place. Heck, I go for the longest running discount on a huge bag of pistacios I've ever seen - something like a 2 pound bag for $9.99. Getting in and out is super-easy and if you join the BevMo club you can score some good discounts if you're a shrewd shopper. Only down one star because sometimes staff can be hard to find. BevMo is a store that stays with you your entire life I think. You know how your tastes/styles change as you age and mature? Stores that you used to shop in as a college kid just don't cut it anymore once you're 30...your style changes and you need something more mature so you move on to other stores. BevMo on the other hand, has everything...and for great prices! From the cheap beers for that college party to those smooth shots of imported vodka for a girl's night out to those lovely bottles of chardonnay perfect for a dinner in with the husband. BevMo is definitely one store where you will see people of all ages in. So now that I've told you all that I'm a lush for life, this particular BevMo store is awesome. Parking lot right across the street. Staff is always so helpful. The store is organized well with signs to direct you so you don't wander around aimlessly looking for what you need. This store practices bait and switch. They will take you money and not give you what you ordered. I ordered 4 bottles of alcohol from them online to pick up at this location. One was a gift pack that came in a pretty box with glasses. 4 days after placing the order I went to pick it up only to be told they dont have the item, never had the item, and never bothered to call/email me to let me know. They just tried to give me the wrong bottle as if nothing was wrong and when I said it wasn't the right thing all they did was say sorry. A real flippant sorry and offer to refund the difference. How does that help?? This is a gift! I want the gift pack I ordered and PAID for! They had 4 days to discover the problem and notify me. I will never shop here again, they are so dishonest! EDIT: I will add one more star because corporate fixed the problem. But this store still has super rude and lazy employees. They had 4 days to either notify me and/or fix the problem and chose to just ignore it and hope I wouldn't notice. And then to be dismissive and flippant about it when I pointed it out. The guy that works here (Shawn) is the one that inspired me to write this review. My stupid ass drank too much and made my rounds to bevmo after the bar and apparently left my ID behind. This guy went out of his way to mail it back to me...how awesome is that? Saved me a hellish trip to the DMV and for that I cannot thank him enough. As for the beer selection here I have seen better but they have some decent stuff. Employees are always friendly so I don't have much to complain about. Get yer drank on mofos! read more

I love BevMo! They have everything you need in terms of drinks and party supplies. But this isn't different from any of the other BevMo stores (except that it's new) so it's a 4 stars from me. Thanks for having a wide selection of beers! I wanted to try out some different summer brews and 4 out of 5 on my list were at this location, which was really fun since I had gotten the list from a random magazine. My boyfriend and I have also recently started creating a bit of a bar for ourselves, so we stock up on all sorts of schnapps, flavors, bitters and other exciting ingredients here. Although I still prefer to get cheap wine elsewhere, for a more pricey wine I wait for the 5 cent sale to try them out. It's a great deal. This place has like every glass shaped drink lol. I just want to collect all of the different kinds of soda here. Make sure to sign up for the BevMo card. The staff members here are super friendly. Always ask them if they have anymore in the back. Don't be shy and let them know how ignorant you are when it comes to drinks. You will learn a thing or two. Learning is fun! read more

Got home to realize that was the opposite of the truth. This is my go to place for adult beverages. The prices are competitive, they have a dedicated parking lot and their service is very good. I recently went in for a keg for my new kegerator. I measured the interior of the device and the gentleman who helped was willing to bring out a keg and let me measure it. I thought it would fit and took it home after he helped put it into the car. As an adult, this is like my "Toy's r us " store. Every time I come here my jaw just drops wide open - I know that's pretty bad - But I used to be a sailor - what can I say. Selections of alcohol is enormous, They have all kinds. I routinely start browsing in the wine area, then the cheese and appetizer corner, the hard liquor area - rare tequila and good scotch in particular, I love me some Johnny Walker blue - but usually stay away from it - it's freakin' expensive - like $200 a bottle, then go to browse at the wine glasses and beer glasses, Then look at the the wonderful beer selection. I normally get some beer I never tasted just for the hell of it - last time I got some Spaten from Germany that was awesome, also got some beer from New Orleans (forgot the name) and it was really delicious - it had a grape taste to it. The only downside I have to run longer laps the next day - getting older - the metabolisms isn't as fast as it's used to. Furthermore, before I head up to the check out counter. I stop by the Cigar corner to look at humidors, the cigar selection, magazines and lighters. I don't really need this stuff - that's why I TRY to control myself (emphasis on the word "try" ) and just browse. They also have their own parking lot in the corner. I go here to probably buy a bottle of wine or a six pack of brewski, However, I end up spending more than I need to. Did I mention they have sale's here almost all the time. Since its the holidays and all, i'll be here the night before xmas, new years and kwanzaa to pick up some hard liquor, beer, my usual gloria ferrer and some mid priced bottles of wine. of the 10000 times ive been here, ive always had excellent service (AND even on the phone). my only tiny complaint is that i wish there was a wine connoisseur there. i had to buy a last minute bottle of wine for a very important event one time and there was no one to go to but the cashier who knows even less than me. i ended up reading those little tags that doesnt tell me much. thankfully, my fellow winos enjoyed the bottle i chose (or they could just be lying!) read more

With only 2 customers in the store I asked a cashier for help. "On the back wall", was the answer. The back wall is about 100 feet long. After a while I found the right bottle on the shelf. It was marked in the 30-dollar range on a label underneath. On my way to pay I had to pass the security guard. She makes customers step out of her way because it is her damn store. The second cashier is a bit clumsy and breaks the seal of the bottle which actually costs $60. At least he throws it in the bag. Overall it is clear that the staff in the store would be much happier without being pestered by customers. I shall be happy to help them in that regard. read more

MAN'S BEST FRIEND NOT WELCOMED HERE. Stopped in on New Year's Eve to get supplies. After being told my Kettel One would be waiting at the register, I was informed by another employee, "you can't have a dog in here." "Oh? OK, I have a bottle of K1 waiting at the register and I'd like to grab some champagne too. Can I carry her?" "OK, but make it quick!" Really? I bring my dog to Safeway and Bloomingdale's. It was not the message just the approach I found overly confrontational. This is Jack London Square - everyone has a dog. (And I have been here with my dog on several occasions before).
