This is not the cheapest korean bbq spot that I've been to. But this is definitely one of the best korean bbq spots I've been to. This is not an all you can eat buffet. So they dont cater for those that want to just eat cheap cuts of meat, they have really good quality beef that is close to melt in your mouth goodness. The tenderness and buttery taste of the beef is something I daydream about regularly since I've visited here. The staff was nice and attentive. I'm not sure how crowded it gets but this restaurant can definitely accommodate a lot of people and definitely large groups. Parking is available in the back. I really liked the overall experience except that the smoke from the meat wasn't sucked up through the vent 100%, so I would get some smoke hitting my face. I usually wouldn't care, but I did have a little baby with me and didn't like how the smoke wasn't fully sucked out of the vent. I would definitely come back to this restaurant, you can expect to spend 50 to 70 dollars a person easily, but it's definitely more worth it that those all you can eat buffets if you want quality, no/shorter lines. So we gave this place another chance since the kalbi was good the last time. Glad we came back. We had a much better experience. The wait service also wasn't as intrusive this time around. We ordered seafood pancake, marinated kalbi, rice cake soup and naengmyeon. The dishes were all tasty, I especially enjoyed the rice cake soup. They give many different appetizers which included steamed egg, a soup, and soy sauce based raw crab amongst others. This might be my first review since the pandemic and I'm excited that it's at Bi Won. Korean anything and everything has been gaining a lot of attention, from Kpop, skincare, to tv & film, it is rising in popularity. Korean BBQ is no exception, but don't get fooled and go to one of those flashy places. For good meat and great service, this place is consistent. I felt compelled and encouraged to write a review because a few friends and I came from Brooklyn and Long Island and it did not disappoint. In terms of parking, there is a small lot off 46 ave right behind the restaurant. Somehow it's crowded and lively, but there's always a table for you. There are couples, families, friends, and a wide range of ages. Service is always excellent and they are very accommodating. Food: We got the prime rib combo, and it comes with a jjigae (stew) and gyeran jjim (steamed egg). They cook the meat for you, the coals are real (says my friend Cecilia) and there's lots of delicious ban chan (the sides that come in the beginning). I don't even like wasabi, but wherever they get it from, I want to buy it in a bottle. read more

This place has been around for quite a long while now. I remember it being better years ago, but overall - it's still a good option for korean food in the area. Their kalbi (short ribs) for grilling on the barbecue, is very good. But this to me, is expected with korean bbq spots because they're selling it at the price that they sell it, because it is good beef. You're typically going to get good quality beef either way. But 3 stars because at the end of the day, with as many options as there are in Flushing/Bayside - it's the other things that really need to stand out and make a difference. The service, prices, side dishes (quantity, assortment and taste), etc. Their service was OK. I'm korean and that always tends to help - but even with that, it wasn't anything great. They did their job but didn't really check-in and weren't particularly attentive or friendly. Other foods such as soups/stew are ok to good, nothing amazing or stand out. It's one of the reasons why I gave it a 3 instead of 4 stars. Another was a strong smell of gas when we first sat down. None of the grills were on so I don't know where it was coming from. It did dissipate after a little while. Limited parking is available in the back. We ordered the lunch special menu, beef noodle soup with the LA Galbi and the Gopchang Chulpan. As always in Korean Cuisine, a lot of Banchan dishes. Everything tasted good. Noodles Soup was huge and spicy. The Galbi was tender and came off the bone easily. Charred bits were delicious. Bi Won be the one, as in the one Korean restaurant we will be recommending going forward because they are currently the best overall across the board. Their kalbi (Korean BBQ) is really good but so are others, but what makes this place the best is that their other dishes are also very good and they also give a good assortment of side dishes (banchan). We started with seafood pancake (haemul pajeon), which was very good. For some reasons, a lot of places make this dish too doughy and skimp on the seafood and vegetables. No such complaints here. In addition to kalbi, we ordered naengmyun, and tteokguk. The naengmyun may have been the weakest alright still pretty good. The tteokguk was very good. Their banchan included steamed egg and raw crabs. The crabs are not as spicy as at BCD but my wife enjoyed them more (I do not like raw crabs). We were impressed with both the food and the kind owner and staff here who kept us so well fed with all the banchon and extra surprises (like a deep fried, breaded oyster!) that we felt like we were in the backyard of some Korean grandma's house who was concerned that we wouldn't get enough to eat even though we were about ready to fall into a food coma! We ordered the galbi combo and I think when they say 2-3 people, it really means 2-3 families. So much meat and all delicious! We not only left stuffed, but had enough leftovers for another full meal for each of us (we were a party of two). We sat outside in the parking lot in a tent that was split up into private outdoor dining rooms--perfect for large families or anyone who is trying to be extra safe with social distancing. COVID measures were thoroughly followed, with each staff member wearing a mask (properly!) and hand sanitizer being provided. They were installing heat lamps while we were there so it's great to know this spot is an option for when the weather gets colder but the craving for Korean BBQ is still there. Because we sat outside the kitchen cooked our meat for us but the tables inside do have the tabletop grills so that is an option if you eat indoors. Wheelchair accessibility: the restaurant is accessible from the street with a beautifully designed accessible restroom (if you use a scooter, you may have to angle it just so to close the door, but staff are very helpful). To get to the outdoor seating, it's easier to round the corner and go directly to the parking lot than to go through the restaurant interior as the path to the back door is narrow. read more

Whoa Bi Won! You were definitely a pleasant surprise, just in time for the Lunar New Year celebration with the fams. Setting was okay, service was great! Food? Delicious. This year, we wanted to do something a bit different than our usual new year family dinners. Korean BBQ is definitely an outlier in that aspect for us and one that we don't experience together often. Bi Won was recommended to me by a friend so when we were all brainstorming where to go, I suggested it. I think everyone agreed afterward that it was a smart choice. Everything was amazing and we were so full we probably thought at the time we don't need to eat again, ever. We ordered several different meat combos that included beef galbi and pork. It's not Korean BBQ if you don't get these... Let's be honest right? No one cares if it's an entree- you get a boatload of free appetizers, in very small plates, with no names or explanations but one of them will always be marinated anchovies and another fresh homemade Kim Chi. It would take 20-30 minutes to fully pour over this menu of traditional Korean and BBQ. However, we were here for weekday lunch, so we focused on the lunch special menu. Still, there were about 2 dozen lunch special items and combos, that it was hard to choose what to eat. We (three adults and five children ranging from age 9 to 4) three lunch combos (soft tofu stew & pork belly, soft tofu stuew & kalbi, and spicy naengmyun & kalbi), budae jjigae (army stew), dolpan bibimbap (stone pan mixed rice), and udon. Way more food than we could eat with a price tag of $108 (including tax). There are many Korean options in this area, so each restaurant has their own special service item. At Bi Won, they mix a spicy squid and vegetable banchan (side dish) at your table. Delicious, fresh, and devoured. All of the dishes were very good to excellent. We really didn't scratch the surface of what the restaurant has to offer. You can't go wrong as everyone in a large party with find something to their liking. read more

This place rocks! It's a little pricey (37 for each marinated Gallo serving) but worth it, in my opinion. They start you with assorted banchans- a server came with a salad mixing bowl and mixed up some spicy snail salad in front of you. Also came with 4 large shrimp tempura banchan. I ordered a delicious and refreshing small order of spicy cold noodles (about half the size of a normal order in other restaurants). The kalbi was so tender my kids had no trouble chewing through it quick. This spot is one of my fav korean bbq joints in nyc for sure now. Just two things: I wish they had written in the menu that grilled meats come with the steamed eggs and a soup. I ordered a soup not knowing that and server didn't mention that it already came with soup so we had two soups and ended up not even touching one. Two, oil kept leaking from the thing that sucks up the steam. Probably not the most sanitary thing for the meats. They did quickly replace the meats that had oil drip on it but it kept happening throughout the meal. So we felt like we had to keep watching for old oil drippings. read more

Ordered pickup here today - a mulnengmyun (brothy cold noodles) and a bibimnengmyun (spicy cold noodles). This is the first restaurant I've ordered those dishes for pickup and had them pack up the soup in with the noodles (usually restaurants will package the broth and/or the sauce separately so that the noodles don't get soggy). By the time we got back to the office and opened up the bag, the noodles had soaked up most of the broth and sauce and had become mush. The time elapsed was approximately 25 minutes, which isn't ideal for nengmyun, to be fair - but it was definitely exacerbated by the fact that the noodles were sitting in the broth. If you want to try these dishes here, I would definitely recommend eating in. The sauce for the bibimnengmyun was pretty good, but I didn't personally like the flavor of the broth with the mulnengmyun. read more

Been coming here with my family for at least the past half decade. They have been pretty consistent in quality, but recently have noticed a decrease in quantity to price ratio. They still provide lots of quality side dishes, but the cuts of meat have definitely shrunk. Everything always tastes good though! I really enjoy Korean barbeque restaurants, for starters you get plenty of food in way of banchans, you know the little side plates of kimchi, salad and other nifty vegetables. Now the barbecue is not cheap by any means, too bad it's not "Bi Won, get one free" sorry, I couldn't resist :) Overall we were happy with our orders of prime Galbi and Berkshire pork. NOTE: There is a two order minimum to use the barbecue grill. Our waitress was very sweet and pleasant to deal with as she skillfully cooked our food over the charcoal grill. As other reviews have mentioned the ventilation system is top notch and we were not wreaking of smoke when we left that night. The prime Galbi was tender and delicious and the Berkshire pork was superior as well. All succellent cuts of melt in your mouth goodness grilled perfectly and bathed in sauces that made your mouth do a happy dance. They also served us a pot of Gyeranjjim steamed egg which was savory and almost custard like in texture and seafood soondubu which was delicious and the tofu was silky smooth. They have a private parking lot around the corner of Dunkin donuts where you can park and enter through a rear entrance. All major credit cards are welcomed here. A+++ for service. Even though we were outside in a tent, the staff came often to check on us and adjusted the heat as needed to make sure the outdoor dining experience was as pleasant as it could be. The galbi, both prime and seasoned were delicious. Cooked to perfection, better then if we did it ourselves. It takes away a little bit of the experience but it was too cold to cook your own food outside anyways. The seafood pancake was also one of the crunchiest and thickest out of any I had. My friend and I were in the mood for Korean food so we decided to go to Bi Won as they have several seats out in their parking lot. Be wary of the bees and flies albeit it's completely out of their control (it's nature, what can you do)? I believe we were greeted by the owner who took our order as well and was eager to please (in a good, non-overbearing way). We ordered a wide amalgamation of things, so much that the owner was surprised at just how much we can eat (what can I say, I'm one of a kind). To start, we got the japchae. It was good (loved the mushrooms) but had way too much onions. For the Korean BBQ, we got the pork belly and beef (forgot which cut/type). The pork belly was good but nothing to write home about. If you mix it with the bean paste it tastes much better. It also tastes a lot better with what I thought was seaweed but the owner said it was something akin to it but not exactly it but to eat it with the pork belly. This was a great suggestion as it did make the pork belly taste much better. The beef, however, was absolutely delicious and could've been eaten on it's own without any qualms. We also ordered the octopus which had the perfect amount of gochujang, but, similar to the japchae, way too many onions. When it comes to KBBQ, there's a variety of experiences. AYCE KBBQ places are the kinds of places you go with your bros, eat yourself stupid while wearing stretchy pants and come out smelling like coal fired jerky. Bi Won is the kind of place you should take your special someone to - the combination of the food, service and atmosphere make it a great Korean dining experience. The menu has a lot of BBQ options as well as stews, appetizers and other things you expect from a full service Korean restaurant. The menu is reminiscent of Flushing Korean powerhouse Hahm Ji Bach and the quality is right up there with the best. The restaurant is modern, clean and we were seated immediately by friendly staff that was pretty fluent in English (non-Korean speaking folk will be A-OK here). We ordered the pork belly, marinated pork and a seafood stew to chow down on. The minute the orders went in, out came the avalanche of banchan - fresh homemade tofu with spicy sauce, 2 types of nappa kimchi, spicy beef tripe, poached egg, spicy squid and veggie salad, mushrooms, seaweed salad - it just wouldn't stop raining side dishes. The pork belly came first and was cut and cooked expertly by our server. She stood by and made sure everything was cooked perfectly before stepping away. While that was grilling, another server stopped by with a complimentary tofu stew (excellent and spicy) and freshly fried shrimp tempura. Soon after our seafood stew joined us - a perfect combination of savory seafood and sweet crab. The server turned off the gas grill and someone else came running in with a pot of fresh charcoal for our marinated pork. Again, it was grilled perfectly. To top it off, they then brought tiny hot stone bowls with rice mixed with a variety of fish roe and eggs - it was sooooooo good. All in all, the food was just great. Prices here are reasonable and you really get a lot for your dollar. Our bill for all this was about $75 and it was just a great dining experience. My only gripe is that their parking lot is tight AF. It's like the jeans on a hipster coming straight out of Williamsburg - leave the big cars at home or park on the street.
