Bianco Rosso Wine Bar & Restaurant is one of our favorite restaurants in Wilton. Since they opened in 2012, we have been there countless times for lunch, drinks at the bar, and for dinner. Owner Mario Lopez is always gracious & friendly to patrons. Having eaten there many times over the years, I am familiar with almost everyone on the menu. In the Antipasti section, I highly recommend the Tuna Tartare, Cioppino Spicy Fish Stew, Bianco's Meatballs, Burrata Cheese and Lamb Lollipops. In the Insalate section, there's two very outstanding salads: Crispy Artichoke Salad and the Brussels Sprouts Salad. Both are favorites among the customers. All of the pasta dishes are delicious, so it's hard to single one out to recommend. For Secundi, I love the Georges Banks Scallops and the Veal Milanese. There are always specials on the menu, and I often order the market fish of the day. At our recent dinner there, I had the striped bass with Brussels sprouts and potatoes, it was fantastic! Another favorite on the menu is the Bianco Pizza: a white pizza with grilled chicken, ricotta, tomatoes and truffle oil. Simply delicious!! There's a wonderful wine list that includes Italian wines and California wines, as well as Champagne. There's a fully stocked bar and plenty of bar tables in the seating area. Bianco Rosso has a convenient parking lot in the back. Reservations are encouraged, especially on the busy weekends. read more

This is an excellent addition to Wilton dining scene. This "wine bar" serves very fresh Italian-inspired food, has a fairly extensive list of wines-by-the-glass (as well as a full wine list), and serves creative cocktails for those who do not like wine. The atmosphere is very trendy -- if you don't sit near the windows you may think you are in the City rather than in Wilton. The service is very attentive without being pushy. And save room for dessert -- I had a crepe with nutella ice cream (what a wonderful idea)! When they did not have the Vin Santo I requested, they insisted on giving me a glass of Moscato for free. I expect they have hit a "sweet spot" in the Wilton market and will are likely to be quite popular. read more

First time eating at Bianco Rosso tonight! Our family ended up here because another restaurant we frequent was closed (it's New Year's Day) What a pleasant surprise! We are seasonal residents of Wilton and this restaurant is relatively new, so we hadn't eaten here before. The atmosphere is casual and not as warm as I would have liked, but the food blew all of us away. It was delicious ~ which prompted me to write this review. Decent wine list to start ~ but the faves were the Shaved Bussel Sprouts salads with truffle oil, the pizza and pasta dishes. (We have several vegetarians in our group) I had the Asparagus Ravioli and it is the first time in my life that I have ever eaten every bite of pasta off of my plate. The service was awesome. This review is for the Trumbull location. Being in the hospitality industry, I know firsthand the Chef needs to lower prices on the current menu items. If you're looking for food that is mediocre at best with prices of a five star restaurant, this is the place for you. We ordered the tuna tartare special, two orders of the veal ravioli, and two glasses of wine and the check came to over $100. This restaurant is not considered fine dining and their prices should not reflect a fine dining establishment. Take my advice or I can assure you this location will be short lived. read more

Went for lunch at the new Trumbull location with 2 friends. The ambiance is very nice, but very disappointed in the food. The chicken Milanese was hard as a rock and the salad was very soggy with dressing. My friends were not happy with their selections too so we decided to leave and not have dessert. read more

I am giving a 5 star for lunch only since the value proposition is at that level. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and the price fix special at $17 is the best around. That together with reasonable priced glasses of wine make the restaurant extraordinary. My wife had the eggplant Parmesan and it was outstanding and a grilled shrimp barley salad was excellent also. My king salmon Tatar was superb. Only complaint was the pappardelle was a bit bland and could have used some more spices. Service was very attentive. The restaurant is noisy but we were able to sit at s table a little removed from the crowd. I suspect I would have decreased the rating if the restaurant was packed. read more

Tried to have dinner tonight but a big disappointment. Asked the waiter at least 3 separate times if I could order a steak with no garlic. Stark comes to the table and loaded with garlic. I politely asked for a new steak but when it arrived it was the same steak that the cook (I cant call him a chef) sent back wiped clean of the garlic but the same steak I had cut in half. By the time the staff returned to the table the rest of the group had finished. Poor service, very poor response to a complaint and it was so noisy we couldn't hear each other through this business meeting. I'm not from the area but this won't be on my list for any future visits. The owner or manger should be informed when something like this happens yet no one came over other than the waiter to give a pretty poor "sorry about the steak". Not sure how restaurants get away with such crappy service and stay in business. read more

I was a bit disappointed. Though the decor is trendy and fun, I thought the food I had was average and pricey for the quantity. Also, it did not have the extensive wine list that I had heard about, and the prices, there, were a bit much for the wines on the list. This is an upscale lovely restaurant, clean and modern in decor. The service is excellent. That being said, we were recently served a very disappointing meal. Diver scallops that were mushy and way undercooked on all three plates that were served this entree. A crispy artichoke salad that was nothing but some mesclun greens with what looked like 1/3 of a tiny artichoke heart sitting on top. My husband and I selected Bianco Rosso based on the number of four and five-star reviews it received. Living in Fairfield we rarely dine in Wilton, but were attending a performance at the Wilton Playshop, right up the road. I must say that we were totally underwhelmed. The place is very attractive and spotless. The service was excellent. However, the food was very disappointing. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara. It is one of my favorites, and I've had it in many different restaurants. This version was tasteless. My husband had the Capellini with Shrimp. He said "there was nothing wrong with it," but I tasted it and didn't particularly care for it. In addition, as the restaurant filled up (we arrived at 6:00), it got progressively noisier and noisier, until it was impossible to converse without shouting at each other. We won't return. At these prices, we expected more. There are many fine Italian restaurants in Westport and Fairfield that have Bianco Rosso beat by a mile! read more

New Years Eve- a complete disappointment!!! We called ahead made a reservation for 9:30pm... Looking forward to ringing in the New Year at our local hip over priced Italian restaurant with one of out fav bartenders. We sat on the bar- balloons - party hats - our first glass of bubbles. The New Years specials - looked amazing, hard to choose. We started with carpaccio, which was good , second glass of bubbles then ordered the burrat ( a fav)..all at once our bartender threw on his jacket, reached under the bar slammed about grabbed the garbage & went out the door.. Came back in & scooped up the party hats, noise makers & left out the side door. Gone for the night? No good bye - no happy new year...odd? Burrat, was delivered & then we were asked if we were going to order anything else - because the kitchen was closing? WTF it's 10pm...the up sell was the osso bucco. The staff proceeded to clean up around us & several other tables. The osso bucco flew out of the kitchen , then It became difficult to order another glass of wine.. The staff were eating their dinners & started to drink...which is fine but were were made to feel in the way... So we finished & left... Home by 11... Sometimes it doesn't matter how good the food is. We could have gone to several other places... When we made the reservation they should have said something! read more

Our experience last night was nothing short of dreadful. We knew going in of their propensity to have the music so loud that it is hard to hear even when the restaurant is empty, we've been there 9 or 12 times since they opened. For Wilton, the food was always pretty good and the service has always been competent. Last night, we ordered the salmon tartare appetizer to share. It was good, (oddly plated) and the server was thoughtful enough to bring two plates so we could easily share. After that, things went downhill in a hurry. I ordered the eggplant parm appetizer as my main course and my wife ordered the pasta with vegetables. The eggplant dish tasted as if it had been prepared 5 days earlier and reheated, something you would buy in the frozen food aisle, totally tasteless. After eating half of it, I gave up. My wife's pasta was even worse. The pasta was dry, the vegetables drier and totally devoid of flavor. It was so bad that we asked for olive oil and salt (a first for us... ever) to make it palatable. I would not venture to guess who is preparing the food in the kitchen but I will say that we will never, ever go there again. Diners beware! read more

Twenty five years ago, when I was working as a chef, this restaurant would have been a four+ star sensation. You would have needed to call a week ahead to reserve a table. Back then very few upscale, white tablecloth Italian restaurants existed. There were plenty of "Red" Italian restaurants where you could find all the Italian American comfort food favorites, pasta with red sauce, baked lasagna, manicotti, everything a la Parmigana maybe a Fettuccini Alfredo, Chicken Picatta or pasta in clam sauce. You know the menu. I'm not disparaging this food. I love it and eat it often. To my recollection the evolution to more diverse Italian food started with Pasta Nostra in Sono in the 1980's. High quality "Northern"style Italian restaurants began to spring up, first a few then a proliferation of small, elegant, somewhat pricey places that offered good food and a more sophisticated dining experience than say The Arrow in Westport or Pellici's in Stamford. Now though I think we have reached the oversaturation point in Fairfield County. On every block you will find 3 things: * Korean Nail Salon * A Deli * Upscale Italian Restaurant Like reverse musical chairs, there are not enough "fannies" for all the available seats in upscale Italian restaurants.I'm amazed that people open these type of restaurants over & over again only to see them struggle & eventually close in a year or two. Restaurateurs need to think outside the box to succeed in this tough economy and marketplace. This restaurant has a lot going for it, beautiful dining room, nice bar, good, well prepared food but they have a lot of competition. The dining room was sparsely filled yesterday (Friday) at lunch. I have not been there for dinner but I would bet they are busy only Friday & Saturday and a restaurant can't survive on weekend business alone. I hope this is not the case because it is a very nice restaurant. I will be back. read more

Hard dinner there last night really excellent. We had the Mozzarella en Carozza superb share it's very generous & wonderful. For dinner had the best Gnocchi I've ever had in a restaurant full of flavor & prepared perfectly, the Short Ribs cooked perfectly & a great wine list. Having recently moved to Wilton, we'd heard good things about Bianca Rosso. We started with their special salad with apricots, gorgonzola and greens as well as their artichoke salad. The cocktails were delicious and the bartender is to be complimented for his creativity. The main courses, Black Sea Bass and the Veal Milanese were cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Dessert was equally delicious with Bombalini and Key Lime Pie. The service was attentive but never overbearing. We cannot wait to return! read more

Lunch a couple of days ago was superb. The generous portion of striped bass was perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of crunch to the skin, and was served on a gorgeous bed of orzo and vegetables, including pea shoots. Tablemates liked their pasta and hamburger, while the eggplant appetizer was quite appealing because a light hand was used with the garlic. Service excellent.
