Considering the amount of time I waited to get seated (which was around 45 min), the price, and the taste I don't think I would return Me and my partner ordered the yuk geon (forgot to take a pic) as well as the salt and scallion pork. The yuk geon was tasty but it was close to 16 bucks and considering how small it was I don't feel it was fairly valued. I think the worst offender was definitely the salt and scallion pork. I'm not sure how some of these reviews are raving about it being "life changing" but it is definitely just mediocre. Although it is salted well, the bowl consists of 3/4 rice and there is just a hint of scallion flavor. Service was good and the interior of the restaurant looks nice so no complaints there. There isn't anything wrong with how any of the food tastes but the prices of it and how much food you get doesn't justify both the wait and the flavor. Do yourself a favor and take 10 min to drive over to convoy from here and get some Korean food that will give you larger portions, a better taste and will most likely even be cheaper. read more

very happy with our Bibimboom experience! we went a little before closing and we felt bad, but they were so kind and service was so great!! there was only like one other party in there, but other than that it was empty and clean - definitely already ready to close up shop. Jaden really was a great server, and he was very attentive and kind and didn't make us feel like a burden coming in so late lol so thank you!! we ordered 2 of the classic beef bibimbaps, and they came out pretty quick! let me tell you... Bibimboom has stone, clay, and iron pot dishes. We came on a weeknight for dinner as we were craving delicious savory Korean food and were shocked at how long the line and waitlist was at 7:30 pm! Thankfully we were able to get seats indoors to sit and the wait ended up being about 30 minutes which was faster than the one hour we were expecting. Our servers were friendly and we were served cold barley tea and side dishes soon after we sat. I really like the menu at this restaurant. It is one sided and has all the available dishes laid out clearly with the type of pot. We ordered the salt and scallion pork stone pot, the Galbi and the kimchi pancake. The salt and scallion stone pot was the easy dish of the day. The rice had the perfect texture: crispy without being burned and soft on the inside. This dish was bursting with flavor. Unfortunately, my galbi had some very burnt pieces which was disappointing for a $30 dish. Overall our servers were all very friendly and refilled our side dishes and got us everything we needed but they seemed a little overworked for the volume of hungry diners coming in and out. A Chinese hot pot restaurant formerly occupied this suite in the Mesa Shopping Center of Mira Mesa. It was recently turned into a Korean comfort food eatery, Bibimboom. I believe the owners are the same as that of Steamy Piggy which has built quite a diverse portfolio of Asian establishments across the county. The business is still in a soft opening phase. Parking in the plaza lot was fairly easy despite the multiple tenants across the two-level structure. The inside had enough tables and booths for around 50 diners. I was surprised to encounter a waitlist when I showed up during their final hour of operation on a weeknight. I noticed only two workers in the dining area, and multiple tables had not been bussed yet. They sorely needed another set of hands to assist with clearing tables and/or seating customers. The current menu sheet featured four entrees cooked in stone pots, two soups boiled in clay pots, and three items sizzled on cast iron plates. A trio of appetizers and one dessert rounded out the food offerings. I chose the Bibimbap which was the first of the stone pots. While I waited for that to be prepared, two banchan dishes (kimchi, pickled cucumbers) were brought to my table. Within 15 minutes, a very hot stone pot containing white rice as a base was delivered by a worker. The other contents were marinated beef, carrots, greens, mushrooms, bean sprouts, cucumbers, and an egg yolk. I mixed the ingredients together and discovered that some of the rice was crispy from being burnt by the stone surface. A side of gochujang sauce was provided to add more flavor. The amount of beef could have been more generous for the price of $21.50. While my food was okay, the main issue as noted by others was the service level. They need to staff appropriately in order to handle a full dining room. It should not have taken half an hour for me to get a seat when there were unoccupied tables that weren't turned over yet. Until this aspect is improved, I limited my rating of Bibimboom to three stars. read more

Came in around 11:45 to 12, the place was 80% full but there was only one waiter, there's another guy there who doesn't do much except for wiping cups in the back counter and tending the cash register. So be prepared to spend more time and if you are in a rush, skip this place. We ordered the bibimbap and beef broth soup. Both took over half an hour to arrive. The rice on the bibimbap was burnt, I mean really burnt, it was black, not scorched. The beef broth was bland, there were a few pieces of beef and they tasted old. Best part was the side dishes. Most Korean restaurants don't offer generous portions of banchan like this place. Once again it took a while to check out. But I don't blame the young dude, he's the only person there who's doing pretty much everything. The place is new and clean since it's been renovated from an old dated restaurant. The wait didn't bother us. But the food wasn't good enough for us to return. The menu didn't offer much either. So we will probably skip. read more

The portion sizes are perfect for sharing or satisfying if you're really hungry. Food wise, try the dak galbi and pork stone pot! There's plenty of parking, and I appreciate that they stay open later than some of the neighboring businesses. Amy provided us with excellent service, ensuring we had everything we needed. When they noticed our initial dak galbi was burnt, the staff promptly had the kitchen make a fresh batch, which was a huge improvement. Seating is booth and table style. Food wise, the bingsu was good with the matcha. The menu is currently on the smaller side, but I'm hopeful they'll expand it over time. We ordered the LA Galbi, Bibimbap, and Beef Bone Soup. The LA Galbi was flavorful, though leaner than most I've had in the past. The Bibimbap was solid and standard. The biggest letdown for me was the beef bone soup. I understand that this style of soup is meant to be clean and light, but it felt like it lacked the richness and depth I was expecting. Overall, I'd be open to giving Bibimboom another try. It has a lot of potential, and with some refinement and possibly a broader menu, I think it could become a great neighborhood spot. read more

We got the bibimbap and LA galbi. I enjoyed the barley flavored water and banchan provided at the start of the meal. Unfortunately, the galbi arrived so far ahead of the bibimbap that we almost finished it before the other dish arrived which was not ideal.
