Great Food, Great atmosphere & Great service! Just passing thru the area and decided to give it a try...so glad we did!!! The food was fresh & delicious! The atmosphere was comfortable & friendly. They were having a comedy show upstairs; I don't know the details. There's a full bar inside the dining room. Definitely want to dine here again sometime!

Went here for a happy hour after work - didn't realize they don't open until 4:30 so we chatted for a bit in the parking lot before heading in on the dot. They have an extensive line of bourbon/whiskey to choose from, and several creative options for old fashioneds. I tried the tequila and the cherry - both very tasty. The place filled up FAST for dinner, and it was a Tuesday! We (party of 5) were seated and our server was attentive right away. We started with cheese curds and wings in the traditional buffalo flavor. Both were fine, average. The special for the night was steak tacos, three people in our party opted for those and really liked them. I ordered the pork schnitzel and was very underwhelmed unfortunately. The meat itself was extremely dry and overcooked, as was the spaetzle. What should have leant a nice creamy juxtaposition was gluey and cold. The breading on the schnitzel was falling off and greasy. I ate it but wasn't a fan. Our server seemed to drop off as it got busier and she knew we had our food. We would have ordered more drinks but by the time the check came the line was out the door so we scooted out. Fun place for drinks and apps but I don't think I'd come for dinner again.

I could eat here every day! The service was absolutely fabulous- thanks to Danielle! The bartenders know how to make a perfect old fashioned (Crown Royal+sour) & I would highly recommend! They have a drink menu with so many unique ones too! The mushroom risotto with perfectly cooked (medium) salmon was DELISH!!! Hubby loved his chili & we shared brussel sprouts for an appetizer. Can't wait to go back!

The BEST salmon I've ever had! One of my favorite dishes here

Hands down the best restaurant -- always great food, great service, and great old fashions!

I got the Manhattan off their specialty menu and my husband got their autumn barrel Manhattan. After trying both--highly recommend the one off their specialty menu. It was definitely superior quality. It's served over a block of ice so if you want it up, you may want to mention that when ordering. It tasted more like a classic old fashioned than a Manhattan but I'm not complaining because I love classic bourbon old fashioned cocktails as well. For a starter we got their much raved about bang bang shrimp. It came on a bed of greens and was good! For my dinner I got their seasonal chicken and dumpling soup and a side salad. Both were solid. The salad was definitely more ample than I was expecting. My husband got some sort of salmon alfredo pasta dish that came with roasted asparagus mixed in. I had a bite and he ordered well--it was decadently buttery and delicious. The service was super kind throughout our stay. Our server checked in on us regularly without being overbearing. Get to it!

Plenty of parking in the lot attached to this spot! The interior is small, but very nicely done! It was VERY festive for the holiday season! I understand it was the night before a holiday, but they were definitely understaffed. The three staff members (2 servers and a bartender) were, at times, sprinting through the restaurant to keep everyone happy! They did it with a smile too! Kudos to them, but management should help them out with additional staff on busy days. (We had a reservation for 10 people, they knew it was going to be busy). The food and drinks were alright...the Brandy Old Fashioneds weren't very boozy and the fish fry, while cooked well, didn't have any special flavor. We also waited almost an hour for our appetizers: cheese curds, calamari fries, and zucchini blossoms. I will say that the broasted chicken looked very good, but I didn't have any! First time here…read more Food: It was a Friday evening, around 8:00, and we decided to try some of the fish specials. I ordered the Pan-Seared Walleye, and she chose the Lake Perch Fry. Since our entrées included access to the salad bar, we started there. The appearance of the salad bar was disappointing. I realize it was later in the evening, but there were literally salad bar fixings all over the place. Some items were mixed together, some had spilled onto the enclosure, and there was food on the floor as well. Much of what was offered looked like it had come straight out of a can. The walleye wasn't bad. However, the mixed vegetables were a pile of mush, and although I had requested the potato pancake be extra crispy, it was still undercooked in the middle. The perch fry was okay, but nothing special. For dessert, she ordered the Brandy Alexander, and I had the LemonBerry Cake. The Brandy Alexander was very good, while the LemonBerry Cake was mediocre. Service: Our server did a nice job getting us settled in. Water and drinks arrived promptly, and they were friendly and pleasant throughout the evening. However, they became involved in a lengthy conversation at another table, so getting our check took quite a while. Atmosphere: To be honest, the place looks a bit run-down and could probably benefit from some TLC. Since it was later in the evening, there weren't many other diners, and the restaurant was relatively quiet. The view of the lake through the windows is spectacular and makes it a great place to watch the sunset. I wish the food had been better. Unfortunately, this isn't a place we are likely to return to.

Unfortunately, this second dinner was even worse than the first. The rice was undercooked, the short ribs were dry, and the scallops were gritty. I realize that, for some people, the Buy One, Get One promotion is a big draw. However, I suspect that the menu prices are inflated to offset the BOGO savings, so it doesn't end up being much of an actual benefit. My wish is that they would focus on improving the quality and consistency of the food and charge prices that appropriately cover their costs while still allowing them to make a profit. I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon, which is sad because there is so much to like about the location and atmosphere.

We had a group of 12, and we're sure to make a reservation, because boy was is busy on a Friday night! Especially around the holidays, because the holiday decor just adds an extra special feel to this already rustic, unique restaurant. The staff let us know they'd put us in a quieter area, due to my grandma, but unfortunately that didn't end up happening. I'll say though, we arrived to a packed restaurant at 5:45pm and by 8pm the place was pretty cleared out! Seems most popular for a happy hour and early super-type crowd. I'd been here once before but this was my first time dining in for food, so I was excited to try out their menu. They offer a hell of a deal for buy-one-get-one entrees! Note their entrees are upwards of $30-50 on average, so if you take this deal you're saving a pretty penny. Here you'll find all of the meat and seafood options to try. In the end I landed on the shrimp & scallop stir fry and boy was it good. Scallops were cooked just right and the flavor was on point. I also had to of course try my husband's steak and it was fantastic. Also fantastic was our server, Shaun. He took wonderful care of our table, and even gave us a great rundown of the entire dessert tray. He knew his stuff! We ended up ordering a handful of sweet treats to end the evening. After talking with some locals, I got the impression that Johnny's best days might be behind it. It happened to be my birthday, so we made a reservation for 7:15 on a Friday night. Food: As you would expect from a steakhouse and supper club, the menu is extensive, with plenty of appetizers, steaks, seafood, and even pizza. We started with cocktails. I ordered the Sangria special, while others had the Mint Margarita and the Peachy Keen Smash. All of them were very good, with delicious flavor profiles and enough alcohol to let you know you were having a real cocktail. For an appetizer, we ordered the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, finished with hot honey and pomegranate seeds. They were delicious. Crispy just the way we like them, served hot, and generously portioned. There were plenty of great entrée choices, and we settled on the Lamb Chops for me, because if lamb is on the menu, I'm probably ordering it, the "Best in Wisconsin" Pork Chops, and the Scallop Cacciatore. Each entrée came with a nice house salad and warm bread. The lamb was excellent, heavily seasoned with rosemary, nicely charred, and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The roasted potatoes and carrots were also very good. The pork chops really were some of the best we've ever had at a restaurant. Both the broiled and breaded versions were excellent, and it was hard to pick a favorite. The Scallop Cacciatore was also good. They used quality scallops and seared them nicely without overcooking them. The pasta sauce, however, had more red pepper flakes than my wife preferred. She loves scallops but isn't a fan of spicy food, so this probably wasn't the best choice for her. We wanted dessert, so we made sure to leave room and took plenty of leftovers home. The Brandy Alexander was made perfectly. They use scooped ice cream rather than soft serve, which gave the drink a thicker texture with a few small chunks of ice cream. The tiramisu was also excellent. It was served at room temperature, had a distinct coffee flavor, and wasn't overly sweet. A very nice finish to an excellent meal. Service: We received excellent service throughout the entire evening. From the moment we arrived and for the next couple of hours, we were consistently well attended to. Everything was well timed, from the water and cocktails to the entrées and dessert. The service was efficient without ever making us feel rushed. Since they asked whether we were celebrating a special occasion, they surprised me with a complimentary strawberry cake for my birthday. Our server was friendly, efficient, and helpful throughout the evening. Thanks, Patty! The manager also stopped by a couple of times to check on us, which was a nice touch. Atmosphere: It's a beautiful setting. The woodwork, windows, lighting, and overall design are all very well done. The restaurant feels polished and well cared for without making you feel like you need to dress especially fancy to enjoy it. There was one thing that detracted from the otherwise beautiful atmosphere for me. A couple of televisions over the bar are visible from parts of the dining room. That's not something I expect during a fine-dining experience, and I found them distracting. On our next visit, I'll ask for a table where the TVs are either out of view or less noticeable. Overall, this was an excellent experience. Aside from the television issue, it was a lovely evening with outstanding food and service. Johnny's definitely exceeded my expectations, and it's a place we'd be happy to return to.
