This place is the real deal for an amazing and fabulous meal! My sister and I visited this past Friday and we are already planning our next visit! The pastas are all homemade and you can taste it! WOW. This place has an amazing combination of flavors and it's truly delicious. I had a cauliflower souffle and it was so rich and creamy and done amazing. Typically I am hesitant to have anything cauliflower but this dish is something I find myself craving since I had it. The atmosphere of this restaurant is lovely - causal but intimate and it is BYOB. I read all of the rave reviews and waited months before deciding to try Bici for my birthday earlier this month. I was disappointed solely based on the quality of food in comparison to the prices and my own expectations. The food was not bad by any means, but I was expecting a bit "more." I chose the buratta app ($16?) and my husband chose the malfatti. The buratta was good, but the arugula had too much dressing to the point where it was dripping off. The buratta was good but bland, and I wasn't too thrilled that the arugula salad was placed on top of the prosciutto, also covering it in dressing. My husband's ricotta dumpling was probably our favorite dish of the night. It was very rich and creamy and I wish I had ordered that instead. For entrees, I had the osso buco ($36 or $38) and my husband had the lobster risotto. Again, both dishes were "good," but sort of left us wanting more flavor, more excitement. My osso buco was good, but came with only one marrow bone (and another with meat on it). I wasn't a fan of the risotto on my plate-it lacked seasoning and was too thick. My husband's lobster risotto was also a disappointment. It came out barely lukewarm, and also lacked seasoning or anything that made us say "wow, I really like this dish and want to come back here." We passed on dessert since we had already spent nearly $100 on 2 appetizers and 2 entrees and were mostly not impressed. As I said, the food wasn't bad by any means, but nothing we ate made either of us eager to return. As other reviewers noted, tables are very close together, and the room was quite loud. The plating could use improvement. Also, service was incredibly slow. The wait time to place the order, receive appetizers, and receive entrees was close to 2 hours total. We were first time diners at Bici. The staff is fantastic. Waiters present and available, but not hovering. The decor is very smart. The food was excellent -- fried oysters with beautiful salad, lamb chops beautifully prepared and seasoned, gnocchi that was authentic and delicious. Three different desserts, each artistically presented and melt-in-your-mouth good. All that said, we may not return. The noise level was deafening. We came on a Thursday evening at 6 pm, on the early side. By 7 pm we could not have a conversation, and we were at a corner table. I felt I was glad to escape...not a happy way to end what was a very well prepared and delicious dinner. Bici opens for dinner at 5 pm. If we do choose to return, we'll have to try 5 pm which seems more like an English nursery tea than a fine dining experience. read more

Bici hosted our party for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was phenomenal from start to finish. Every bit of food was delicious and hot. The service was impeccable and professional, and the owner Marcelo was there for the whole party to make sure all went perfectly. I cannot say enough about Marcelo and our experience in working with him to make the party exactly what we were hoping for. The look of the restaurant is so inviting and the table set up with my flower arrangements looked picture perfect. Were were very happy with everything, and everyone who attended raved about the food and the restaurant. I am very pleased that we chose to have our party here. I'm sure we will have many more parties to come with Marcelo here at Bici. Aside from our party we have also eaten there for dinner and attended another party, which was excellent. We really enjoyed this BYOB. It's a little further into Jersey than we normally go from Rockland but it was worth it. The hostess was so accommodating and gave us a great table where we felt tucked away. The cauliflower app was fantastic and the crab meat special was yummy. There was frisée salad with both which I think they could have done without because they were a bit bitter. The steak was great and cooked very well. I contacted the restaurant regarding hosting a private event. The manager/owner Marcelo was very friendly, confirmed that I could host my event on the date I wanted, and confirmed that he would email me the sample menu for private events. I never received anything from him so I emailed him twice and called the restaurant to follow up. After hearing nothing back from him, I went to the restaurant and left a message with the head waiter asking Marcelo to contact me regarding my event. I never heard back from him. I find the whole thing bizarre and disrespectful. What a waste of my time.... read more

Dinner for 4 on 12/18. We had two pasta dishes that were excellent- gnocchi and the paparadella. The butternut squash soup with crab only one of us had but all wished we ordered after a taste- the salmon and short ribs were cooked as ordered and were delicious. Nice atmosphere and Ray our waiter was attentive and informative. We closed the place with an 8PM weekday reservation. A place to go back in nicer weather when the doors are open and one can enjoy the food n the outdoors. A BYO - with two appetizers , dessert and two expressos with tip came to $60/ head. We had dinner Friday night with some friends. Had a 6 PM reservation and were seated in the mostly empty dining room immediately. The place did not stay empty for very long, and almost all seats were full by 7PM. Hostess Peggy was very nice and checked on us during the evening, as did the owner. Our waiter, Aaron, was terrific. Explained every dish, kept track of our needs, topped off our wine glasses. Just a really nice guy, and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The food was fantastic. Had the Red Snapper, the two ladies in our party had the hanger steak. Cooked perfectly on every count, and delicious. Dessert was not to be missed. Tiramisu, and a Dutch Cocoa cake. It is BYOB. It is a bit pricey. $38 for the hanger steak, but I guess you get what you pay for. Really excellent. read more

In general terms, place is extremely dark, service is lacking and food is so bland you would think it is for an ulcer diet. Dark: when 75% of your customers are using their iphones to see the menu, realize you have a lighting issue! Almost comical. And I am not referring to 80 year old customers-talking about folks in 40s and 50s. Service: BYOB isn't supposed to mean you pour your own. Went through bottle of champagne and other than first pour, server never touched bottle again. That seemed common throughout the room. Room was not crowded yet server disappeared for stretches and every time he appeared he apologizes. After the third time, that rings hollow. Maybe the very tall server/manager? could focus more on the floor in general than randomly sit down with customers and give a detailed description of the food people finished eating. Food: With bread you are given a ramekin of swiss chard, ricotta and some vegetable-sort of a spread like a rillette. Totally bland-no taste, Next, Gamberi for starter-fried shrimp over salad. Again no taste. Had to ask for salt because this place takes the presumptuous tact that the food is perfectly seasoned so you don't need salt on the table. Wrong. Next, skate. Must say largest portion of skate I have ever been served but again no taste. Menu says sweet corn veloute and red pepper oil. I think this dish went to the pass before those items were added. Fish was swimming in a liquid that had no discernible taste. Professionally executed food leaves a memory of taste that you remember and perhaps desire again. Not so here. All in all, a disappointing experience-would not go back. read more

The hostess and the manager (owner?) were very friendly, but the service was altogether lackluster. It was "fine," but certainly not personable. The food was good to very good, but nothing unique and certainly not worth the high prices. For those kind of prices, I would expect a more elegant meal, but this ambience was very crowded and loud. Chef Anthony Devanzo has done it again. My family and I have been fans of Velo Nyack for many years and have never felt the need to venture far from it for every occasion and the casual meals we celebrate there. If it works, don't fix it right? We found ourselves taking care of errands in Ramsey and decided to drop in for a visit to their sister restaurant in Ramsey, NJ and had a wonderful experience there. The staff was on point, attentive, and accommodating from the moment we entered the building. The ambiance is more refined and less casual than Velo although the space is extremely inviting and still felt as cozy as Velo while not feeling pretentious. Like the ambiance, the menu is refined while still offering choices for everyone including my 8-year old who expected the delicious pizzas he's come to love at Velo. My son said the Salmon Saltimbocca was the best-prepared fish he's ever had. My homemade strozzapreti burst with flavor and had me considering making reservations for the next evening while still there just to have it again. Marcelo and his staff are friendly and attentive and show passion towards the food, service, and most importantly, us, the customers. I can not recommend Bici enough and if you're in the area in Nyack, make Velo on your shortlist of best restaurants outside of New York City. Five Stars!!! read more

Dining is an experence and they got 13 out of 15 things correct. Unfortunitley two main courses were not so good. Pasta with Boar Sauage only the sausage had flavor, the sauce and home made pasta very blan. Also the fish entree was soft, not firm. We shared two appetizers, the Polpette meatballs and the Malfatti ricotta dumplings. The meatballs were very good but the dumplings were over the top. Our entrees exceeded our expectations and were both ordered from the evening's specials. Great overall experience at a perfect location. Marcelo the GM was very accommodating and the food was top notch. Rivaled any Manhattan Italian bistro from a quality and creative perspective. I would recommend for a date night for couples or for larger groups. The chef even came out and asked us about our meals which was unexpected and a nice touch. We got tuna tartar, lobster risotto, homemade parpardelle and ricotta dumplings. My husband and I had a wonderful meal at Bici! You can tell every detail at Bici is very important. Even the bread which is usually an after thought at most restaurants was wonderful. It was served warm & crusty with a homemade sun died tomato spread and herb infused olive oil. The beet salad with gorgonzola was great with the blood orange vinaigrette. For the main course I enjoyed an amazing filet mignon with the truffle egg yolk ravioli. It came a perfect medium rare. My husband's osso bocco was also incredible! The osso bocco was heaven and that is coming from someone who doesn't think anybody's osso bocco is better than her own! This place is a gem and so is it's owner, Marcelo. For me a restaurant experience starts with the phone call to make a reservation. The owner answered the phone when I called and graciously explained the timed seatings outside and the tent that they were awaiting delivery of for Saturday. I had to call back several days later to make a modification in our reservation, again Marcelo answered the phone and accommodated the change with no problem. We met another couple at Bici last night and were promptly seated as soon as we arrived. Indeed the rent was in place thankfully as the rain was coming down in sheets. The tent kept us all perfectly dry. Marcelo waited on us and was wonderful throughout the evening; smiling and laughing and even telling us how blessed he felt to reopen. The other guests appeared to take the rain in stride and everyone seemed genuinely happy to be out having a lovely restaurant experience. Finally, the food was outstanding, beautifully prepared, perfectly seasoned. This was an overall great dining experience. After reading the reviews in the local paper,we went Saturday night to celebrate our wife's birthdays Immediately upon being seated, we were saturated by the loud noise in the room. It was impossible to have a conversation with anyone at the table We were given a water bottle but then waited 10 minutes for a waiter. When two of them arrived, they apologized for the oversight and proceeded to open our wine bottles. The noise was deafening throughout the entire evening. Every table was full and everyone was shouting at each other to be heard I will say the food was very good-- however, do not order the pappardelle as the portion was ridiculously small for a pricey pasta dish. Overall, go on a weekday if you dare!!! For the same price point, I'll go to cafe panache and have a much better dining experience read more
