Visited 07/25/2022 for our anniversary. I'm going to be honest... The food was good... the service was very good, but to be frank... and maybe it's me, but I was kinda expecting better. I have to say the Malfatti (ricotta dumpling with tomato besciamella and crispy spinach) was very good as was the salad with goat cheese and beets. The pappardelle with veal ragu was good as was my wife's lobster ravioli. Good... but didn't really live up to the hype and reviews that we'd been reading. I should comment that we got a call from Bici to let us know the A/C wasn't working should we decide not to make our reservations. This was much appreciated. Since it was our anniversary and a Monday night (a LOT of closed restaurants) we decided to keep the reservation. Ironically enough... as we were getting up to leave... yup... the A/C came back on. This restaurant is an experience. The staff is attentive and on point. The food is absolutely amazing. Everything in the kitchen is from scratch and it is obvious that they care about every single detail. Recently we had a baby shower here and Marcello was easy to work with, professional and beyond friendly. The pricing is just right and the atmosphere is perfect. I had dinner for the 1st time at Bici Friday night and it was incredible! I had the Fried Calamari, Gnocchi Lamb Bolognese, Short Ribs over Mash potatoes and Beignets for dessert. These dishes were all the best I have ever had and the very friendly owner took time to explain in detail how several of these dishes are prepared by his partner/Chef. We dined in their outdoor tent and they certainly took all the necessary Covid safety precautions and even had heaters next to many of the tables. This was great to see since many places I have been to lately are not following the safety distance and capacity rules. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and size of the portions and the BYOB made the check even more economical. After doing my Yelp and online research, I chose Bici to celebrate my hubby's birthday. Bici has a warm, subtly sophisticated ambiance. Decor is simple with tasteful pictures of bicycles and complementing accessories. Our service was excellent throughout the evening including the manager who was very gracious. The menu is not huge but offers some good selections and nice specials. Appetizers- both were specials and very good Arancini Roasted radicchio, squash salad Entrees Black Sea bass-special- very good Chatham Cod over white beans and butternut squash- fish and beans were perfectly cooked Side Creamy goat cheese polenta- excellent Dessert: Ricotta cheesecake with blueberry sauce-good, a bit denser than most ricotta cheesecakes, the sauce was delicious biscotti- good, not great Overall a wonderful experience and one we would like to repeat. read more

The same owners as one of my favs (Velo in Nyack NY) we decided to try this place. Had heard only great things. I have to say the first time we were pretty underwhelmed and didn't have any desire to return. After speaking with a few friends they insisted we give it a second try. Second try was better but would still only give it a 3 1/2 stars. Since that isn't an option I'm rounding up. Definitely make a reservation or you will be waiting. The restaurant is charming and bonus for being a byo. The staff was pleasant and on the ball both times we were here. We ordered the Malfatti (ricotta dumpling) and the Buratta both times. That's how good they both were. I still dream about the Buratta. The first time I had the Scate main which was recommend by our waiter. There wasn't a lot of flavor and visually quite unappealing. The entire dish was grey with a hint of brown. I definitely didn't get that wow I can't wait to eat this feeling. Neither did our friends. The pork chops were chewy and the steak which we requested rare was over done. The waiter noticed and asked to replace it. Kudos for attention to detail but we weren't sending it back. My group has a freakish thing about sending food back so that would never happen regardless of how nice the establishment was. We skipped dessert and left feeling less than excited. Plus it wasn't exactly a cheap meal. Well let's say second time around the wait staff was equally as amazing. Food better. Had steak again and was cooked that perfect rare. Tried the sea bass and it was okay. Still haven't tried desert but it looked great from snooping at the follow patrons tables. read more

How are the reviews good for this restaurant? The food is deplorable. I came for an event and ordered the "Sunday Gravy" - what I got was pasta with plain, unseasoned tomato sauce and a pile of meat in a side dish... maybe they were concerned someone wouldn't understand a meat sauce had meat in it? It was not good, which is to be expected since it wasn't cooked together - it was literally a full sausage and hunk of brisket on their own. The desserts were boring, stale, and uninspired (and I love dessert). For example, the beignets were cold fried dough with a side of Nutella. But more concerning than terrible tasting food is that I ended up with food poisoning. I'm really worried for the town of Ramsey if THIS is what people consider a "four star" restaurant. For anyone who has been similarly disappointed, the best spots in driving distance are Houstons, Upper Saddle River Inn, Wykoff Thai, and Nirvana (Allendale). It ain't this. It is a single large handmade ravioli dumpling with a soft, burrata like ricotta cheese filling, that has a crispy pan seared top, and rests in a light pink tomato cream sauce, topped with crispy spinach leaves and shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. The Strozzapreti are handmade twisted strips of pasta is a delicate Alfredo like cream sauce, laced with fresh black truffles, and infused with white truffle oil. The pasta was silky, yet still had some textural, al dente bite. The sauce was good, but the flavor was not as dimensional as the other pasta dish we had. And that dish was the fettuccine with shrimp, broccoli rabe, with a sundried tomato sauce. This dish was as visually appealing as it was in taste. For dessert, we enjoyed their freshly made warm beignets with melted nutella for dipping, and beautifully layered cappuccino. I've been wanting to dine at Bici Restaurant for awhile now after hearing such wonderful things about it. The only problem is it's in an hour away from, but while visiting a relative who lives close by on Saturday I finally was able to try it. I knew it was going to be good, but it ever surpassed my expectations! They start you with warm baked bread accompanied by a delicious pumpkin butter. It was so good that I heard all the tables around me rave about it! For appetizer I had a half order of the cavatelli broccoli rabe in a walnut pesto goat cheese cream sauce. It was so unique and absolutely DELICIOUS! For entree I had the lamb osso buco over a creamy polenta. It was OUTSTANDING! I highly recommend you ordering it if you ever see it on the specials! The lamb fell off the bone and was perfectly paired with a creamy polenta. For dessert I had the apple tartlet topped with cinnamon gelato. It had a nice presentation, but I didn't care for it. It tasted bland and not how I expected. The cinnamon gelato it was topped with was very good! I recommend trying one of their other house made desserts in place of the apple tartlet. The service was excellent, and the owner made sure everyone was enjoying their meal. Reservations are must as this is a popular place. A superb dinner from start to finish. My wife had the ricotta dumpling appetizer and was actually upset when it was finished; she would have eaten more. My fried calamari app was light, crispy, tender and very tasty. Main dishes were also winners. The short ribs with mashed sweet potatoes came in a fabulous sauce and was heartily enjoyed. I had the grilled veal chop which was slightly overcooked (wanted medium rare) but still delicious, and there was a nice amount of meat on the chop. We shared the terrific chocolate hazelnut dessert. I shouldn't forget to mention the service. Our waiter (Ray?) took care of everything from ordering to plate removal in a professional and unobtrusive manner. He was excellent and obviously took pride in his service; he made the dinner that much better. The icing on the cake is that Bici is BYOB, so that guaranteed our enjoyment of the wine and also saves a bit on the cost. Bottom line, a terrific meal, and we will be back. read more

I decided to try this restaurant as a special occasion dinner for my birthday. Upon walking in, as a first-timer, I felt like the decor was lacking in the front entrance. There was no wow-factor for a first impression. The decor over-all is a bit dated and needs updating. The painting that was framed, behind my seat, was buckling and looked pretty original to the restaurant. The matching wooden wagon wheels on the wall need to go immediately. They do not match the other decor.. The owner needs to reevaluate some of the interior design. It's a small dining room, intimate setting. Overall the menu or the specials did not excite us. Maybe the waiter could have helped bring excitement to the menu a little but he never discussed it with us. Just "are you ready to order" type of thing. We ordered the Malfatti & Calamari to start. The Calamari was pretty bland nothing exciting about it. It was supposed to come with a "spicey tomato chutney" which was not spicy at all! but the Malfatti dumpling was really good. Then, we ordered the Seared Scallops, which were cooked perfectly and delicious. My husband ordered the veal bolognese which he said was also delicious, but, the portion size for the "full" size order was very small. I couldn't even imagine what the "half" size would have looked like. On service: Once we got started into the dinner, our waiter was great, although it took a while for him to first come to the table to open our wine and never really went over the menu or asked us if we had any questions. But, I have to say I thought he was well trained, professional and attentive. Overall, the food WAS good, however, I don't see us coming back here again. Since the menu didn't excite us, I wouldn't come back. I don't get the feeling as if I need to try something else at this restaurant. There are other places I'd rather go to next. read more

What an absolute gem! Friends had been talking about this restaurant for awhile, and I finally made the trip myself. Went on a Saturday- warning, it's very busy on the weekends, so reserve early. Also, like other smaller restaurants, Bici does two seatings on the weekend, 5-6ish and 8 or later, so don't expect a 7:00 table. Anyway, we sat down and were treated to hot bread and, instead of butter, a "spread" of pumpkin and mascarpone. Apparently the spread changes daily, a nice treat. Our waiter was prompt to open our wine (it's BYOB) and was always prompt to fill our wine or water glasses. The staff clearly works together, as each waiter made at least one stop at our table. The service was quick and professional, but not stuffy; our waiter in particular kept us laughing while taking care of every request. The food was delicious. We shared the malfatti, meatballs, and a house salad with poached pears to start. I think that I could've eaten several malfatti as my entire meal, and the meatballs and salad were delicious. Two of my friends had pasta, while I enjoyed the short ribs and my wife the chicken. We all tasted each other's dishes, and while everything was excellent, my wife's chicken may have been my favorite. Any time a restaurant takes time to make its chicken special I know that the chef truly cares about every aspect of his menu. During our dinner Bici was dimly lit and intimate. While slightly difficult to read our menus (we had to use light from our phones), other tables did the same, adding to the fun. Don't expect a quiet table in a corner, at least on a weekend. Every table was packed and the dining room was buzzing, though in a good way. It seemed like everyone was really enjoying themselves. Our waiter informed us that weekdays, while never empty, are generally quieter, so if that's your preference avoid weekends. Marcelo made his way to our table and introduced himself. He's the "front" owner and host, while his partner manages and takes care of the kitchen. Marcelo was friendly and welcoming, taking time with us to truly make sure we enjoyed our meals (no issue) and to get to know us. He even stopped back before we left, remembered our names, and told us a charming story about his pet horse... it was really a good story, ask him about it if you visit! I have been to this restaurant several times for lunch and dinner. They have polenta fries which is different but good. My son initially thought it was weird but quickly loved them. This is definitely a plus coming from a picky kid. He also enjoyed the chicken panini which I also thought was so good. The service is great and decor inviting. We shared the fried calamari. The sauce was just perfect - sweet, spicy, lemony and tomatoey, all at once. The calamari was so light and the squid was almost creamy and delicate. Our entrees were perfect. Even the coffee, which I almost never order because it will tend to be thin and bitter to my taste, at every restaurant I've ever been, was absolutely perfect and delicious. I'm already planning our next visit! I'm going to say the food was the best overall food for any restaurant I've eaten in except for the Gramercy Tavern in NYC. And it's right on par. read more

If I could, I would live at Bici. This was totally and completely the best dining experience we've had from the second we opened the door to the second we closed it sadly behind us. We were a party of 4 for Valentine's Day and we were blown away by the outstanding professionalism of the staff and the delightful ambiance of the dining room. I've been to Velo in Nyack a few times and really believed that was my favorite restaurant. Silly, Hilly. Bici definitely wins that title. For appetizers, we shared the burrata and the lobster risotto. The burrata was creamy and delicious, the lobster risotto had generous chunks of mouth watering lobster. Both dishes were licked clean and left us thirsty for more. Good thing we brought a few bottles of wine. For my entrée, I ordered the NY strip steak cooked medium rare. Awesome. Cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and the sweet potato steak frites were a great compliment. Also got to steal bites of the scallop special and the lamb. All the plates were cooked with such love and not just because it was Valentine's Day. The quality of the ingredients is evident and we couldn't stop praising how amazing our meals were. Such a happy night. I miss it already. Dessert was necessary and we decided on the crème brûlée (because its my fav) and a special which was vanilla ice-cream with espresso.
