This is a fun outing for a family even with small kids, as they have bikes with attachments for little ones. Of course, electric bikes have changed the game and really made this a full on touring experience if you want it to be that way. They also have regular beach cruisers too, if that is more your style. The path is relatively flat and paved, so it's super easy either way. We've taken the whole crew on multiple rides down to Dana Point harbor, and Doheny State Beach. You can also ride south to the San Clemente Pier (pictured). The rental prices were reasonable and not too expensive. Staff was responsive and reasonably friendly. Overall it's a very entertaining afternoon activity, especially when the weather is nice. read more

This rental place is great! I rented a 7-gear cruiser bike for 2 hours and it cost $23- not too bad at all!! Austin was great at helping me figure out the best bike to use and getting me set up quickly to zip right on out! He was also very understanding when I was running a little late and didn't manage my time too well. Austin also offered to help my friend (who brought her own bike) with bike advice/maintenance tips. He knows what he's doing and talking about! I rented on a Friday afternoon, and it was a nice stroll up and down PCH. I highly recommend this place. The location is great bc it's right off PCH, has a parking lot, and easy access to the bike path! Not to mention- amazing views whether you head north or south. We were looking to rent bike for me: middle aged 5'2" woman, while staying in San Clemente. Our condo is right near the pier, so Bicycles San Clemente was the closest electric bike rental shop. I have seen the shop through the years as I have strolled the San Clemente Beach Trail often. I've always thought is was the coolest location. I was told over the phone that they had a bike that would suit me. When we arrived and we were met with excellent customer service, including instructions on how to ride the bike to visual aids to help us find the bike ride that would suit us. We had the best time! We rode down to Doheny State Park and were treated to a steel drum concert and indulged ourselves in a couple beers at Doho Cafe. What a fun, laid-back scene! We returned the bikes to Austin the owner and had a friendly chat with him. This shop does it all. From bike rentals to bike repairs and sales. Check this place out; it's a winner! read more

After reading the reviews, it is Interesting to see that I'm not the only one that encountered the woman that acts extremely rude if you arrive even a minute before they open. I was about 1-2 minutes early but approached the shop anyways. She sees me, ignores me and walks into the shop to finish putting things outside on display. When I ask for help she says she's still in the middle of setting up and gave off the rudest vibe. I was about ready to leave and go somewhere else, but stayed and she said she'd be about 4-5 more minutes. When she was finally ready (which was after official opening time) I told her I had a tire that needed repair. She says it can be anywhere from 20min to an hour.. depending on how many people come in and need help. No one was there btw. I come back about 20 min later to pick up my bike. Upon getting my receipt, I say thank you, she hears me and says nothing. I feel like she is in the wrong line of business if she gets irritated and treats customers that way over something so minor like being a minute or 2 early. This is at the beginning of the work day, not the end of day when people can reasonably be more irritable depending on how the day went. I would avoid this place at all cost. read more

Such a smooth and seamless experience. Called to check if they had e-bikes available in the next 15 mins and just showed up. The staff was extremely friendly and took their time explaining how to operate the bikes, and sharing the rules to observe--Berkeley was so sweet! She even provided a lock!!
