I must say, my first experience here was wonderful! The place was clean, the atmosphere was peaceful and the final product was great. But every visit since then has been a disappointment. The service isn't as thorough or professional as it once was, and having a scheduled appt really means nothing anymore. The final straw for me was the embarrassment I experienced when I took my friend here for her birthday. This was her first time here and needless to say her experience wasn't what I would have wanted for her special day. They were behind schedule. My friend's nail tech was so fixated on the nails of the client next to her instead of those of the one in front of her. And the cleanliness of the salon was at its worst. My advice: catch this business on a light day when they have the time and attention to focus on you. The more people around, the sloppier they are. read more

The chairs are great, the foot massages during the pedicure are wonderful and the chick flicks playing on the TVs are much appreciated. The facilities are very upscale and clean, and the staff is very attentive. It is a very popular nail salon in Evanston, so they will often ask you to come back in 1/2 an hour if they're busy. I've been coming here off and on for years and usually have a great experience. I came on a Sunday with my sisters and aunt. We had appointments, but even with these we felt very rushed. Our pedicures each lasted less than 10 minutes. Of the four of us, I was the last to sit down yet the first to finish. Once my pedicure was finished, the lady helping me just got up and walked away, so I got up and slipped a little while gathering my own shoes and jacket, messed up 3 nails and she was very irritated by this. Then with the manicure she was again very quick and didn't remove the excess nail polish around my nails/on my skin. I gave them a 3 because usually they're great, but this time I'd say it was a 2. I understand it was a Sunday and they were busy, but we shouldn't have been rushed out and our appointments made shorter. read more

Best experience ever! I came here over 2 weeks ago with my friend for pedicure and no chip manicure. Everybody was friendly and the atmosphere was so relaxing. My nails look perfect because they did such detailed job. It's been almost 2 and a half weeks since I got this no chip but there's still no sign of chipping! Tried this spot for the first time recently because they are open later than most in the area. Took me quite some time to find parking - eventually just gave up and parked in a pay lot nearby. Was impressed with the ambiance, but I could tell that they were not pleased that I was late. The mani/pedi was fine, no frills. Not much in the way of massage but the lotion they use does smell nice. A no frills service would have been fine if the price wasn't so high. Overall, I've had better and I've had worse. If you need a place open later and don't mind paying for it, try it out. read more

I went here to get a no chip removed and to get a manicure. The manicure looks good - and for the price I was happy enough. The lady told me they normally charge $10 for the removal but that she would only charge me $5 since it was my first time there. However, they don't use a new file for each client and they just put their tools in barbicide rather than really sanitizing them. I'm used to going to Treat on Central street which is much cleaner. I would only go back if I was desperate for a manicure on a Sunday since not many other nail salons are open on Sundays. read more

I used to love coming here, but in the last few months a young guy has started working there and for some reason I continue to get paired with him for my manicures. I thought at first that I should at least give him a shot, but after two manis with him I have decided I'm not going back. He does not give good manicures and I find it really uncomfortable to basically hold hands with a dude for 45 min and then get a massage from him. Not very relaxing. Don't go here when they're busy, you won't get a thorough job. The first time I was here I got just a pedicure and the girl did a good job. Today was my second visit and I feel like I wasted my $46+ $15 tip on my mani-pedi. The girl spent 2mins scrubbing my feet and just 5 mins on the massage during the pedicure. She didn't push back my cuticles for the manicure so it looks horrible and I know it's going to chip soon. Both the application of the polish for my feet and hands are streaky. I wasn't the only one who had a problem, another lady complained about them not scrubbing her feet enough. There was still dead skin so they had to take her back to the bowl to scrub again! I won't be returning, I'll give Trendy nail a try. I'm very disappointed. This isn't a chop shop for the prices they charge but they need to be more thorough. read more

I came here once before for a gel manicure and the technician didn't do a great job. Didn't soak my cuticles, was very rushed and rough, the works. But I went back yesterday as a walk in appointment needing a mani-pedi in a pinch and the technician I got was fabulous. She took her time, put a third coat on when the polish was too thin without me asking, and was in general great. Only reason it's not 5 stars is because of my first experience. I'd definitely come back but I'll be more selective with the technician. read more

When I lived in the city, I had a place that I loved that I went to for years. When I moved to Evanston I tried 4 or 5 different salons before I found Bien Assorti, and now they are my new favorite! The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere pleasant, the techs friendly, and my manicures always last a week. They give good massages, along with a hot towel neck and back massage which is soooo nice. The chick flicks playing in the background is a nice touch. It's the only place I'll go to out here. read more

Very Zen ambiance: relaxing and beautiful. Located in lively and lovely downtown Evanston, close to the Metra and CTA stations. I kind of got bullied into sitting down for my manicure before my daughter had actually arrived, but it worked out. I'll know in the future not to walk in until my party is assembled. Bien Assorti is my go-to nail place in Evanston. The atmosphere is very laid-back and calming, and they have romantic comedies playing the whole time so it's easy to sit back and just enjoy yourself! They're fast (about/less than 45 minutes for a gel manicure) and always polite and professional. The gel manicures I've gotten here always last at least 2.5 weeks before chipping, and with the Wildcard discount, everything is pretty affordable (I want to say less than $15 for a regular manicure and around $35 for a gel manicure). I would definitely recommend this place for any kind of manicure! read more

Love this place! I've always received a great pedicure and can often walk in without an appointment. Most of the staff I've encountered have been incredibly nice. They always give a neck/shoulder massage after a pedicure and a parafin wax wrap on heels is part of the treatment. Plus there's always a great comedy on the tv's to watch if I forget my book. Service was quick and very kind as they seemed genuinely excited for her and were swapping stories of their engagements. BEWARE:: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! The staff is very rude and inattentive, they also do not honor their appointments and turn people away. They also pull your arms towards you and keep telling you to relax. They are EXTREMELY rude over the phone. Who cares if they give good manicures, you can go right across the street to Nail Bar and you will get much better service and friendly staff. I have never had a good experience here. They have lost me as a customer and I will never be returning...save yourself a torturous visit and give another good, deserving nail salon your business. read more

Really disappointing experience. My tech kept running back and forth from my mani/ pedi to man the desk and in the end did a really sloppy job. Place seemed unhygienic too - at least two techs were sick and coughing into their arms and cleaning their noses on their hands. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!! I have been going to Bien Assorti for just over a year. A pedi here, a mani there....it is a treat to have them done here. It is ALWAYS clean, the technicians are always more than pleasant, and you get a wonderful shoulder massage after your service. The energy of it is calming and I look forward to my next appointment. Side note: I was mistaken on the hours and walked in one day fifteen minutes before they opened. A nice clean salon-- They were able to accomodate me without a wait as a walk-in. Reasonably comfortable although the air conditioning was broken. They did not offer any beverage,water,or magazine. The pedicure chairs and manicure stations are extremely close to one another. There was no solution put in the pedicure water,and I cant be sure if the files were sanitized or not. One annoying thing was that little girls with their mother were getting "baby" pedicures.I might go back for a quick service; but Id prefer a bit more pampering and a more relaxing enviornment. read more

I come here all the time. The girls who work here are so sweet and its a great manicure and pedicure plus you get a discount with your wildcard. I always call ahead because it can sometimes get randomly busy, but they can usually take me right away. They have a ton of colors, and its a nice atmospehre. They always have a chick flick (usually a pretty bad one) playing on the tvs with subtitles, which is kind of nice, and they always give a neck massage when your nails dry. I made an appointment for a manicure and upon arrival, was told I would not be able to receive what I wanted. I asked for a simple accent nail on each hand (which would take 5 minutes MAX) and was told there wasn't enough time. They finally made time when everyone else filed out. On top of that, my manicure chipped that evening and was completely ruined the next day. Just an overall annoying and frustrating experience. This is the best nail salon in Evanston -- maybe even in all of Chicago. The place is meticulously clean. Everything is sanitized (you can see them doing it) and the decor is cute as well. I LOVE the movies playing. It's a nice touch and a great way to keep yourself occupied while you're getting your nails done. I've only gotten manis and pedis here so I can't speak for the other services, but all the employees are fantastic and do a good job. In my four years here, I have only had one or two experiences with employees who were not as friendly or responsive as I would have liked, but I think this might be due to the language barrier. Also, the free massage after the mani/pedi is amazing. They don't rush through it and for the most part, give a really great, thorough massage. Katie, the owner, is especially amazing!
