Beware. Apparently, having 4 or 5 stars in a very small town is not a sign of quality. First, the chicken fried steak pictured here on yelp is either only available for breakfast or not available at all. I wasn't clear on which it is. If you're use to deli style sandwiches, don't order the Ruben. It has a scant layer of smoked brisket along with the other usual ingredients. Taste was okay. Just lacking in meat, and not really the kind of meat you might be looking for if you crave a Ruben. The worst item served were the French fries, they were dark brown and limp like spaghetti. No decent kitchen would serve that, in my view. They were inedible. This kind of food and service, with a fountain drink, cost about $25 per person at today's prices. read more

Stopped in for lunch on my way out west and was quite pleased to find that they serve breakfast all day! I ordered hamburger steak and eggs with potatoes and toast. The waitress also brought me their homemade strawberry jelly that was a real treat! My meal was tasty and contained generous portions. Service was excellent and my meal was prepared very quickly. It's a real deal diner with great ambience and in retrospect, I wish that I had sat at the counter where I could also watch as my food was prepared. They had many other menu selections that I would love to try. This will be my new favorite mealtime destination on any future visit to Holbrook Arizona! Enjoy! read more

We took a group of students aged 9-17 to the restaurant. The kids who ordered the burger meals said they were excellent. One girl ordered a burrito (still shaking my head over the $19.99 price tag for a bean and cheese burrito with a side of rice, beans, and guac--for that price, I expected the burrito to stand up and dance the Macarena). There was little on the menu for vegetarians. I got a side of fries and a side of veggies. Vegetarian birder options would be nice. Friendly waitstaff, and relatively quick service. Definitely family friendly and a meat eater's paradise. Very clean inside the restaurant. The kids who are the pie thought it was good. The fried ice cream is a meal in and of itself. I'd give this place four stars if it weren't for the really expensive burrito (more expensive than a burger and fries) and the lack of vegetarian options. read more

You either like it or don't. My mom likes it. I say it could be better but the potato salad was pretty good. Part of it might be because we thought it was a Mexican restaurant from the name. You can tell everything is home made, and I appreciate that. The burger, I'd say, was average but large. Fries lacked flavor and didn't have salt. That worked out great for mom, though, who is on a low-salt diet. We didn't get dessert, but I'm sure the pies probably packed a lot of flavor. They were in a display cabinet and you could see they were huge, home made pies. The entire staff and restaurant were massless and not socially distanced. Stopped in for a late breakfast. Our breakfast burrito was not Mexican by any means but it was very flavorful. In lieu of green chili our nice waitress offered sausage gravy which was delicious! My husband also ordered a side pancake. He is used to my homemade cakes and it is hard to please him with restaurant cakes, however he said this one was very good! By the name, I expected it to be Mexican food... especially when the girl at the hotel we are staying at said it was the replacement for Joe & Aggies which we were sad to find out had closed. I have to admit that we had a "hiccup" with our server. She didn't even acknowledge our teen. She took my hubby's order and my order and LEFT!! I called her back over and she took his order. It was so weird and awkward. How do you not notice a SIX FOOT 13-year-old? She honestly wasn't very friendly at first. In the end, it didn't even matter. We expected better food based on the reviews but were sadly disappointed in our meals. The meals were pretty Average, we could have done better at home. We both ordered the chicken and it was Okay, we felt the sauce didn't go well with mushrooms that were uncooked and placed as topping. Also chicken was slightly over cooked. The green veggies were pan cooked and singed so they had a slight burnt taste. The coleslaw was good. Also the description stated we received salad and they did not include it or the roll. My family and I went to the restaurant because we were passing by on our road trip and saw it had great reviews. I don't know how it has great reviews. The customer service from the waitress was unprofessional and it appeared she was annoyed providing service to us. We were very close to leaving but decided to give the benefit of the doubt even before we had our drinks. The waitress continued giving sarcasm to us all through the end. Unfortunately, all of "Spanish rice" was not cooked all the way and was super super mushy ( maybe days old). 5 star service!! I was very impressed the meal was paced out. I had time to enjoy my salad before my meal. I often times find that restaurants serve everything at once. The waitress was very attentive and knew the exact time to bring out main dishes. It was not overwhelming to be rushed out. I felt comfortable and very welcomed. The restaurant was very clean. The lighting was perfect not too bright or too dim. The noise level went quickly from loud to quiet depending on the families or groups leaving or just joining. Probably not a bad place to eat in Holbrook, food was good but seemed a little pricey, however inflation is everywhere I'm sure. Had the brisket, it was very good. Chose coleslaw and fries for sides, both very good. Portions were big so we shared a plate. Had a piece of coconut cream pie for $5, it was also very good. Menu said salad was included but is was not, about a$3 up charge which is not unreasonable. So the brisket meal with the salad and pie, no drinks, ran about $32+ with tax. Would eat here again if we stopped in Holbrook. read more

We stopped in Holbrook passing through. Bienvenidos was the closest restaurant to our hotel. I got our food to go and the wait staff went above and beyond to accommodate me. Spaghetti bowl is huge! I recently relocated from the East Coast to Phoenix and along the way, I spent a couple nights in Holbrook to get some R n R in. Convenient for me, Bienvenidos happened to be within short walking distance from my motel. I wound up getting dinner from this establishment 3 nights in a row and each time was wonderful! Kim and the younger gal working were phenomenal and both deserve some recognition for their people skills and overall welcoming attitude. The kitchen staff deserves a big shout out as well for accommodating my dietary restrictions! Now that I'm all settled in the Grand Canyon state, I look forward to my next visit to Bienvenidos when I'm back around the area! read more

I am not really sure where to start. Cute location. I wish the waitress had told us that food would take over an hour to receive for 4 of us. We had a sick kid in the car and we assumed it would be a fast experience. It seemed one waitress was doing everything. The manager was on her phone... swirling her tea and sipping or sitting in booths with local customers. Not helping the only waitress that was drowning, couldn't remember to take drinks to tables and in tears. One waitress, stood rolling silverware and watching her. No one offered to help. Our order was wrong, along with majority of the other customers. This could be an excellent, fun experience but the management has got to figure out ways to help the communication with the wait staff and kitchen to make it a smoother process. It's really hard to eat on road trips, especially staying in small towns, so I was really excited that their online menu stated, "We have gluten-free options! Ask your server!" I specifically chose this restaurant because of this message on the website. When I asked for the gluten-free options, I was told that they have GF bread and 2 kinds of GF salad dressings. That's it. Those are the options. I told the poor server that the website states that they have GF options, and she went back a second time and asked the manager- and that was it. Bread and salad dressing. The burger (bunless) isn't safe due to seasonings. The bbq is off limits due to gluten in the sauce. Bread and salad dressing. I walked out, which I felt terrible about- but I couldn't eat there, and it was all such a waste of time (mine and the server's). I'm leaving a review simply because I don't want anyone else with food allergies/intolerances to be misled by the website. This is not the place for you. I will say that everyone I encountered was very nice, which is why I gave it three stars. I don't want to trash the place. However, for people who have a hard time with restaurants (especially in small towns) due to food sensitivities, it's very misleading to act like you can cater to them when you clearly cannot. The cafe was very busy, so orders were coming out a bit slow, but the owner jumped in and went table to table to check on orders. A+ service in my book.
