I first ordered a Warsteiner beer which came to me in a good heavy frosted glass mug. A quick laser gun check of the liquid content temperature (I can really be a detailed fussy pain in the ass) revealed it to have a near perfect serving chill of 42.5 degrees Fahrenheit which pretty much indicated to me that they do in fact know, have and use near perfect biergarten serving temperatures; a real plus compared to some other beer serving establishments. For my meal I ordered their sauerbraten which came accompanied with a traditional potato dumpling and red cabbage. As best I was able to discern, the sauerbraten was of a beef rump or bottom round that had been marinated in a base of red vinegar, red wine, or both along with a combination of varying spices and herbs that gave it, at least to my sense of taste, a slight but distinctive aromatic overtone the precise ingredients of which I was unable to discern. Having had the pleasure of dining at the original Luchow's location in New York, I tend to compare any sauerbraten dish with what was served there, which I consider to have been the best sauerbraten to have been served anywhere....sorry to tell you Germany. My only complaint might be that the meat itself seemed overly course, somewhat stiff and on the dry side. However, knowing that there are so many varying regional tastes and differences in this German dish, I won't yip all that much about that. As for the restaurant itself, though housed in one of Boca's seemingly endless phony looking Mediterranean styled (sorry about that Addison) structures, the interior really does exude a charm and appearance much like the biergartens of Germany. My first 3 visits here were about 18 months ago and to say the meal went well would be an asinine lie.... 1st VISIT Our waiter told us that we came in on a good day because it happened to be "1 Dollar Brats" special going on, so we picked a couple different brats and sat patiently... hmmm, where are those brats. The waiter returned to take our entree order; so we ordered a couple entrees and just assumed those brats were coming any minute... but they never did. The meal was riddled by errors left and right, like the wrong beers brought to us and took forever to get a check at the end of our meal. The only saving grace was the abundance of great beer on tap. 2nd VISIT (1 WEEK LATER) Even though the brats never came on that first visit, the food was good and I really wanted to try these "1 Dollar Brats". We ordered a couple brats (again) and requested a typical condiment but was surprised to be told the condiment (forget what I asked for) was an additional 1.50... I say to the waiter "that's more than the brat itself" and his reply was shocking and ironically funny... "That's where we get you". Probably not the best thing to say; kinda felt like he was saying HaHa we're gonna screw you now. DEEP THOUGHTS The food so far has been consistently good and the service is SUPER FRIENDLY and yet kinda awkward (something about male waiters wearing red leiderhosen). The problem is the mistakes and screw-you pricing on the specials (1.50 for condiments for a 1.00 brat)... but then again I enjoy the atmosphere (indoor seating feels open and outdoors, the outside is comfortable, the decor is german influenced and the people that work here are great).... okay, worth another visit then... 3rd VISIT Ordered myself a Brat and Knockwurst Platter.... BUT the waiter brought out a single brat and a single knockwurst. When I point out the error that the PLATTER IS MISSING his reply is another head scratcher.... "Sorry, sometimes the guys in the back don't read the tickets orders. I told him I was surprised he didn't notice the mistake before taking it to me... seemed more like blaming others for his mistake. When the bill came, it had the platter AND the single brats. I know it's a simple mistake but when added to the other errors, it just gets old. I had to say AUF WIEDERSEHEN (German for goodbye)... 1 YEAR LATER With all that negativity (which I drafted a long time ago as a 2 star review), you'd think I'm done with this place but I'm a self-confessed glutton for punishment so I once again returned. But wait.... what's this... a meal with good food and service and ZERO complaints. It's true and not just one visit; I've been back a few times and have had no issues at all. Love that they have matured from that 2 star initial review. SUGGESTED SPECIALS Check their website for food and beer specials... my go-to daily special is of course the "1 Dollar Brat" on Mondays (just don't order the $1.50 condiments). MY GO-TO DISHES AND MORE SUGGESTIONS STARTER: As much as I love those Potato Pancakes, I think my suggested starter would be the Giant Pretzel... comes with great house-made mustards and a beer-cheese dip... put one on the table and share SLIDERS: Hands down easy choice... Pastrami Sliders with sauerkraut and grain mustard (the others are good but this one is great; especially considering how hard it is to find good pastrami in South Florida). SALADS: Don't waste my time. WURSTS/BRATS: So many to choose from... I guess I would lean on the Chicken Apple seasoned with cranberry and fennel; topped with apple chutney and caramelized onions. Of course traditional choices like Knockwurst and Bratwurst will not disappoint either. SANDWICHES: No contest, Black Forest Ham and Cheese with cherry mustard and cole slaw. I have been going to this bar for almost five years now. Almost every Friday night, I go there for a drink because I live right across the street. Tonight however, the bartender (new) turned down my ID. (I am 25 years old) after showing my ID, debit card, SS card, bank statements (yes for one beer) the manager turned me away. The manager "Will" said my ID is fake. After asking them if a Boca Raton Police validating my ID would be enough, he then proceeded to pull out his ID to compare and validate. I then asked AGAIN to have a police officer confirm my identification, and he walked away. A bar with this volume should have a "better" way validating identification as opposed to manager "Will" pulling out his own ID in front of other guests for comparison. I will be fair and give this place 3 stars. We called and made a reservation for 6. When we called, the person who took the reservation then advised 6 was great because Happy Hour was from 5 to 7. Our reservation was on a Saturday, there is no Happy Hour. We arrived and were seated outside. Nice view of the parking lot and very uncomfortable chairs (we were seated at a high top table). Our server quickly greeted up, we ordered a couple of their specialty drinks which were $10 each. I wasn't blown away, but they were mixed well. We got the cheese fries and pretzel as appetizers. The pretzel was huge and came with 4 different dipping sauces, all were very good! I highly recommend getting the pretzel. The cheese fries were bland. We ordered a chicken schnitzel and the wurst platter to share.I split the schnitzel with a friend, I was having a hard time cutting my chicken with a steak knife and she was able to cut her piece with a butter knife. Something was wrong with mine, it was chewy and gross, hers was very good. We called over the only waiter we could find and he replaced my piece of chicken with a new one. The only issue was that with the wait, the other sides got cold, so I wasn't able to enjoy my meal, normally when the main item has an issue, the entire plate gets replaced. The wurst platter was ok, it would have been nice if it came with buns for the wurst. Overall, I did enjoy the food, service was decent, the location is a little awkward for sitting outside. Another note, parking is tough, very tight parking lot with minimal parking, but there is valet available. What more do you want? It's a beer garden with ample indoor and outdoor space, with plenty of taps! Food is better than it needs to be, and everything I've had to date has been quite tasty. They have good specials, happy hour all day on sunday, and for the ambitious, I think they might even have a boot, but don't quote me on that. Sliders are good, currywurst is fine, schnitzel is fun, and the herbed spaetzl is good as well. Next up to try is the house spaetzl but so far so good. Portions seem big for the non-brat options, and the Cuban Reuban can feed 2 given the proportions. Pretzle is mongo from what I've seen. There is some spacial distancing between tables, but overall haven't seen masks or anything on anyone so may not be the place to go for those who have low risk tolerance. read more

We saw the menu and being Hungarian we wanted to try the Hungarian Goulash but that night they were out. The menu is very extensive and has lots of choices. We tried the potato pancake appetizer which was delicious. We then had the bratwurst which was amazing I ate it in maybe two minutes. That to me was worth the whole meal. The deserts were ok the chocolate cake has a cherry drizzle I don't care for but the strudel with the vanilla ice creme was a hit. All and all the place is nice; our server was very overwhelmed and she did her best considering. I think if they had busers to help clear tables it would have been easier for the waitstaff. I believe this is a wonderful Restaurant and Music venue. The band plays indoor... However, you can eat outside first and then come inside to see the band and hear their live music! I myself chose to listen to the band and have dinner inside near the stage. They also have an upper level, overlooking the band if you would rather eat? , see and listening to the band! I brought my husband to our closest German restaurant for his birthday week. It had been our tradition for the last few years to do this. We are usually out of town but fortunately this place came up on our maps!!! Today was two for one schnitzel (we did pork and veal). We got the two for one Schnitzel and the Wurst platter. I only made it through it my Schnitzel platter the food was amazing and beer was just as delicious. Sharon was our bartender. She offered up many samples of beers. My husband knew what he wanted pretty quickly. Sharon was very helpful on selecting our drinks. Although many were very tasty she offered up her personal favorite "chocolate peanut butter stout" from Lost Coast. She was right, it was delicious. I went for one round for that before going back to one round of old faithful, Tito's Club soda. Needless to say we know a good place to say when we see it. They also have super large pretzels that are very good as well that come with a few dipping sauces which is cool. We came here on a weeknight in December specifically for the purpose of watching the Ohio State basketball game. Which we happily did! The place was pretty empty which was surprising...maybe because it was that weird time between Thanksgiving and the holidays. I was having a tough time deciding between two of the beers so he brought me samples which is always much appreciated. We started with the baked brie. My mom liked it so much she got a second order to go for the next day. For my entree I had the Goulash. It was ok with the meat being minimal at best. Four or five small pieces. The broth portion and spatzle was better than every other place in the area so I'll give them that. I think next time I'll just go for the spatzle with brat or kielbasa. It was $5 burger Wednesday. First the selection: Some brats some schnitzel the rest completely Americanized Burgers Tacos, Oysters.... I mean who haven't heard of the famous German oysters We had 2 sausages and they were dry the curry sauce was not tasty at all and is far from what is used to be a good German curry sauce. I went to the Biergarten with a group that I invited on my Meet Up. We had about 30 people that attended. I had called up the Biergarten a few days prior to last night's event, and made reservations with Justin. He gave me 24 seats upstairs on the 2ndfloor. When I arrived at the Biergarten in Boca, the hostess said that we had no reservations. Finally and once again, I told the hostess that I had made reservations with Justin, and that he gave me 24 seats upstairs on the 2ndfloor. She finally gave us seating upstairs. It was so embarrassing to be treated like that when I brought so many members of my meet up to the restaurant. Usually I charge the members $2.00 when they attend the meet up because of the expenses that are incurred from an event. The meet ups cost about $21.00 a month. I usually give people goody bags with candy and cookies. Included in these baggies are hand crème, and other beauty items. We were upstairs, and within minutes of my sitting down at the table, the general manager comes up to my table, and started yelling at me about the $2.00 fee that I charged my members. I was never so embarrassed in my life. Not only were my members sitting at two tables and heard this commotion but one new member ran out and said that she wanted no part of this problem. The general manager was totally rude to me, and told me to stop talking back to him. He had me in tears. I just wanted to hide from all this horrible behavior, and never come back there again which I never plan on doing. The service was terrible until finally one of the nice waiters came and serviced our group. One thing that was the best thing was the salad that I had. The worst part of the evening was the way the management treated me after I brought 30 people to hear the band that was playing. I just will never go back to that restaurant ever again. This is a very attractive restaurant and bar with inside and outside seating. Lots of polished wood and plants. Clyde and I were in the area so we decided to stop for Happy Hour. I was surprised to find out that Happy Hour only applied to discounts on drinks, not food. Since we were hungry we decided to order from the menu. Every day there's a special. We happened to be there on a Wednesday, which is $5.00 hamburger day. Clyde ordered the hamburger which came with fries. I ordered a hot dog which also came with fries and sauerkraut. Clyde's hamburger was delicious. I took a bite and was sorry I didn't order it. My hot dog was big and looked great but the taste was nothing special. It wasn't nearly as good as Costco's hot dogs. The French fries were very good and the serving of fries was large. They have a great selection of Beers. Clyde had beer and I ordered hard apple cider. I'd like to go back and try some of their German dishes. I hear they have a great big pretzel with dipping sauces. It's half price on Thursdays. I'd like to try that. read more

I had a great time experiencing Biergarten. They have wonderful beers and terrific hamburgers. Diane and I went in for Happy Hour and had a really good time. Our server, Veronica suggested that I try the Hofbrau beer. I had a sample and it was very good, so I had one with a hamburger. They were both great choices. The beer was ice-cold and the hamburger was very tasty. Biergarten is a very attractive place, with beautiful plants growing on the walls. They also are very clean. The staff is very fast and efficient. I'm very impressed with Biergarten. It's a great place to go for a beer and some light bites. I can add it to my Happy Hour favorites. read more

I couldn't resist ordering a side dish of sauerkraut and a side dish of spaetzle. Both did not disappoint. Just added it to the sausages we ordered with the mustard provided. They were swapping out to new menus when we arrived. And my boyfriend's menu had two of the same section in it by mistake, but they quickly traded him for a full menu when he brought it to their attention. I ordered a kielbasa and a currywurst. I spaced them out to make sure I could eat it all. And to make sure the second would still be hot. Only the second one, supposed to be curry and all, was actually a mistake by the kitchen and another kielbasa. They quickly changed it for me, and the curry was so aromatic and wonderful. And quite a bit spicy! My boyfriend ordered a kielbasa and also got a knockvurst and technically, I would recommend eating them in the reverse order. Knock then Kielbasa.The knockwurst was so light, fluffy, and almost reminiscent of a wonderfully blended pate. OMG, I would so order one again after trying it. Just be warned the knock is delicate on the palate. I loved how juicy all the sausages came out and the bread it was on was very good. Had a nice chew to it. I noted the table next to us, a large group, ordered quite a few franks as well. You can tell those are frankfurters since they are soooo much longer than the bun and skinny. It was definitely the table's favorite. They also had some sides of sauerkraut and also got a giant pretzel. Which, they totally didn't finish! My boyfriend said even when he comes as a party of 5 no one ever finishes the large pretzel. I also had a Konig Ludwig Weiss. Delicious. Highly recommend it. I stopped by here while checking out Meizner park area of Boca during a business trip. I heard live music and was yearning for some tunes so decide to stop in for a round. Their selection is solid, with a range of beers worthy of the name Biergarten. For some of the beers the price points were a dollar or so high, particularly knowing German beer and being familiar with the brands. The beer itself was flat, which I attribute to a one off occurrence given no prior history at this establishment. Service was timely. I didn't have any food, but the look of the food didn't seem appealing. The pretzel that the guy was eating next to me was 100% dry. As far as nightlife, it wasn't packed but wasn't dead. What was most unfortunate was the cover band wasn't good at all, and wouldn't be surprised if it was a desperation booking. I was really hopping to get a slice of Boca nightlife and across all fronts this place didn't really meet my expectations. read more

I took my wife and two kids for dinner last night. It was our first and our last time. The look of the restaurant is nice and unique. The service was terrible. They never came to our table after we ordered. They messed up our order, we had to keep flagging people down to help us. My son ordered a hamburger with cheese. They forgot the cheese. We had to ask six times for the cheese and it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get. When we tried to talk to our server when our order was messed up, she said she didn't have time and handed it off to a new server who was already very busy. They forgot to bring other things out to us. We didn't have enough place settings or napkins and had to go find them. We don't recommend. read more
