You hope for the best, but settled for the rest. There is always hope when you stay at a hotel that the restaurant inside does you well. The Spotted stag restaurant is a solid meh. Looking for something light and something healthy to eat I chose the roasted beet salad and the mahi mahi sandwich. The roasted beet salad was actually pretty good. You don't get a lot of salad, but the greens are fresh, the beats are good, the candied pecans are good, and the Gorgonzola cheese fritters are interesting. The passionfruit dressing is pretty good. As for the mahi sandwich, that's the.meh. I found the sandwich to be on the dryer and colder side, even though I arrived five minutes before the dinner was supposedly ready. You get a bun, lettuce, tomato, and onion, though I asked for it without all those accoutrements. You won't come running back to the restaurant, but you won't say it was your worst experience ever. read more

I Love this restaurant for so many reasons. It's located in the lobby of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. Every time I stay at the DoubleTree I either dine-in for dinner, sit at the bar for a cocktail or when I'm not in the mood to socialize, it's perfect for ordering room service. Last night I tried the Stuffed Shrimp that's stuffed with a crab stuffing, covered in a delicious Lemon Beurre Blanc sauce,  with a side of brown rice and asparagus. Wow! What a yummy dish all around. Our waiter was spot on when he recommended we try it. We ordered four for our table and all of us loved it. The staff is wonderful. Everyone is friendly, helpful and knows how to entertain the guests. Late night chats at the bar always leave me in a great mood. The chefs are amazing! Whatever they're doing in the kitchen they need to keep doing it. Everyone I speak to says they enjoy the food. If ever in the neighborhood and it's time for lunch, dinner, or your favorite cocktail pick-me-up, you've got to give them a try. And it's even better if you're staying at the hotel. read more

We ate here after a long drive to go on a cruise, the location is inside the lobby of the hotel, which is great because you don't have to leave to get a good quality meal. Fraud alert! Rip off warning! We have been here numerous times and always had a great service and great food at a very good price. Unfortunately the last time we were there they tried to sneak a 15% service charge onto the bill. When I asked about it they said they were just adding the tip on in advance. The disconcerting part was when the Credit card receipt came back to me there was a place for an additional tip. This is not clearly marked it as an attempt for them to be tipped twice. Beware of the service charge! The food is excellent, however, if you are staying here with any type of a vacation package and you hand them a coupon for a discount on your food, your bill will have what's called a service charge at the end. This is your tip! They will not tell you it's the tip when you ask them. They will tell you it's a mandatory fee that comes on the bill with anybody presenting meal voucher coupons. What they won't tell you is that it is the actual tip. That is because they want to double dip. We spoke with a couple people staying at the hotel where this restaurant is located and they fell for the scam. They paid the service charge and they tipped 15%. The staff doesn't tell you that. They're hoping you will double tip them. We went to the front desk and asked them why the restaurant charged us a service fee and they told us that it is the tip. read more

We started with the meat and cheese board, which was definitely unique and different in its own way. I had the fish tacos and he had the short ribs. They were both very yummy! In my point of you the restaurant needs to be advertised more (sign out front or something).It's kind of hard to find... Also Service was not the best. Took quite a while to just get our drinks. I had a great experience at the Spotted Stag. It is located inside a Double Tree hotel. We came in on a Sunday night to have a couple of drinks. For being a hotel bar it was pretty good. The bar tender was very nice, he recommended their tap beers and whatever they had as special as a snack. I had a gin and tonic, which he recommended the well one since it was on Happy Hour and the Gin used was decent. It was good. I also had an Old Fashioned, which was good, but I wished they'd had the big ice cube, rather than regular ice. We also had a Margherita Flat Bread, it was a little burnt, but good. Dropped by the Spotted Stag on a Sunday evening after dinner for a few drinks with my wife. The place is located at a hotel. The decor is nice and offered a few sitting options, from tables, bar, or lounge area. Our server was attentive and the drinks were good. One of our drinks felt under happy hour (it was Sunday at around 8:30 PM) and only cost $5 , so they may offer a nice happy hour. We order a flat bread with Mozzarella that was good but a bit tricky to eat (tomatoes kept sliding). If you want more than a Budweiser, do not bother. The "bartender" has neither the knowledge nor temperament to do her job and does not care. She was really terrible. For a new restaurant they have it well put together. The waitress is new and is super friendly and goes out of her way for things to help. Her name is Kadi, if they can replicate her then this restaurant will be a goldmine, she recommended the flat steak. I'm here on business and don't know anything about what to see when I get time, she made a list for me and gave it to me. Wow!! The dinner was very tasty, cooked well. The convenience of having dinner in the hotel is going to cost you as it's a bit expensive. Setting is quiet and a seat yourself atmosphere. So, I had a rare date night where I could spend some time with the love of my life without any children (we have 3 wonderful boys, but married parents know what I'm talking about lol) and went to the DoubleTree Hotel at Deerfield Beach, FL. And while we had a car, the hotel had a bar with food. Booze and food and I didn't have to drive....sounds like a winner to me. We had a few drinks, I had black magic rum and coke and so did my wife and I had an absolutely wonderful Salmon BLT. The salmon was nice and hearty, very tender with a nice crust while the bacon was nice and crunchy and the Mayo was flavored. It was a nice big, juicy, sandwich that took me to FlavorTown and back. The bartender was great, the service was excellent, the room was awesome and we had a great time locally. The DoubleTree has always been one of my favorite hotels chains out there and The Spotted Stag in Deerfield Beach was a great bonus to have in a great hotel. Five Stars.....great service. Great food. Having visited The Spotted Stag twice now, it bills itself as a gastropub. I hover somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. The food is really good, but the menu is limited. On our first visit we had the burger and the chicken sandwich. Both were very good. The service on that day was great. It was a Sunday afternoon and we were the only diners. Tonight, we tried the crab and corn dip with chips and the shrimp nachos. They were also good. The nachos would have been SO much better with a fresh salsa instead of the premise stuff from a jar. As guests of the DoubleTree, we were thrilled to see they had a restaurant on site. My husband and I went down to the restaurant instead of ordering room services because I have a soy allergy. We went to the bar. The bartender handed us menus. My husband ordered a beer. I ordered a Riesling. She informed me they were out. Chardonnay then. We began to inquire about the menu and what would be best for me. She hadn't a clue. We asked if we could chat with the chef. Nope. She assured us they used vegetable oil and I was out of luck. The woman leaned against the bar top and shrugged her shoulders. Didn't care at all. Apparently, olive oil was none existent. She told us they pre-make their food earlier, therefore, nothing could be adjusted. I've never had a restaurant tell me there was nothing they could and not even pretend to care. She was rude and ridiculous. My husband said to me, "Well, I want you to breathe, I guess we'll go buy salads at Publix." The bartender said, "Okay, can I get you your check?" Wow. I know food allergies are inconvenient, I hate mine but have some empathy. Try to work with me. She represents the restaurant, and her interaction with us was uncalled for. Disappointing. Clean, new hotel-based restaurant. The menu is simple, but it's good American food. I've been twice now. The first time I went there was a young lady who was amazingly friendly and really treated my girlfriend and I well. We were the only ones in the restaurant, so maybe that had something to do with it. Don't know. But like most hotel restaurants, it's probably never super busy anyway. But the decor is nice. It feels very quaint. Both times I had the salmon sandwich it was very good. The homemade chips are wonderful and the fries are really high quality. The second time I went to eat here the service started out as a series of messes. We were served by one person for a little bit and then another person took over and corrected all the problems. But in the end, I was happy. Prices are pretty high though, so I would recommend using a Groupon. read more

I had some of the best fish and chips here, and that is my favorite. I am from Seattle which is famous for their fish and chips. It took me back to home it was so good. I really appreciated Cara's recommendations. Their white chocolate raspberry cheese cake is sinful good! The cheese cake was the best desert I ever had, hands down. And the chocolate layer cake is very good as well. Also the burrata cheese in the Heirloom tomato plate is quite impressive. (This is coming from a cheese snob who likes to make their own soft cheese) Cara was very friendly and exceeded our expectations.
